Clipping Mask/white strips

OK I find better to explain/ask as an example.

First of all, I use a clipping mask to make a diamond shape. (as below)

1.JPG

Then, to add depth, I use the same base filled with a gradient/shadow form. I use the alignment tools to make them perfectly above the other.

2.JPG

But here's the problem, as you can see in the end on the right that it leaves little white stripes. Everyone can't see what I am doing wrong to find it? or how can I approach it differently to didn't get it.

simsallabim,

You can avoid the problem by doing everything in a single step using an opacity mask.

If you create the clip with a black/gray/white fill and no line shape, you can just:

Click in the transparency palette flyout to make new mask with ticked Clip and invert the mask checked or unchecked, depending on how you use the color range of the clip shape to define the reducer of the underlying object.

  • Frustration of clipping mask

    Hi all

I have used here. Somehow, I can't get a clipping mask to work in illustrator CS4. I've been using photoshop for years and only started using illustrator and it is completely different!

What I am wanting to do is simple. I am doing a logo and you want to add a mask of white clipping on the text, add a gradient and set the opacity to about 30 to get a glow effect. Whenever I do this, even if the clipping mask does not work, the new layer with the disappears just of white form! When I have fill it with white, once again, it appears on all the other layers. It's really frustrating me.

    That's what I'm doing:

    1. Enter the text

    2. create the white shape with the tool feather in the new layer above the text layer.

    Layer 2-form

    Layer 1-text

In photoshop, that I simply select Layer 2 and create a clipping and what is - mask this. In illustrator when I goto "Create clipping mask" white form has suddenly become vacant and when I fill it up it is just that comes all overlap and not only the text layer as I want it to do.

I had once it works and it worked fine until I brought in photoshop via AI. file, then I could see the whole shape that just overlap the clipping mask just disappeared.

I would really appreciate help on this, it's very very frustrating!

    Thank you!

    W,

It's hard to explain that you don't understand what I mean?

I think so. You can create a copy of the one on top of the shape and with those two selected object > clipping mask > make. Which allows you to hide the form outside the A, and the original A part will be below it.

  • Creating white fill Illustrator clipping mask?

    Hi all

So basically I have designed the top of a paper airplane and have completed the design of albums that I now want to staple in the model using the clipping mask. I used it exactly how it is supposed to"

    1. first get my form I want to use to cut exactly how I want it

2 getting my image I want to place my form first using the clipping mask with

    3. align in place and bring my "form" in front and the picture on the back

then using the selection tool I select all objects, and then click

objects > clipping mask > make

and for some reason any he clips but the image that I have wastring to clip becomes just a white fill...

I have no idea how repair this and its driving me crazy, I can't find a soloution no matter how long I try to repair or do a search...

I've included a few screenshots below

    1.PNG2.PNG3.PNG4.PNG

If you cannot fill the form of cutting, then most likely it isn't a closed path, but several paths. May be grouped together. Of your screenshots, I can't say. You must display it in the layer panel.

According to what it actually is, you need then to dissociate the it or to not composed it then join multiple paths.

And of course, you should read the manual.

  • How to create an object full of objects without the clipping masks

    Hello!

I wanted to ask that I saw a lot of vectors on fotolia and shutterstock like this

    forums.jpg

It is a typical example. world map with diamond. As you can see that there is no clipping mask, but all objects are in the perfect location. It is any script or any plugin or a tip or some way to easily create for these works.

Thanks for any help in advance.

    You need the world map

Then object > mosaic to create objects.

    Ungroup

    Remove all the white squares

Their color randomly (there are scripts to achieve this on Wundes.com)

Then object > transform > transform each: rotate 45 °

Once again object > transform > transform each: scale and select a "random".

Select some of them and change fill and stroke

Select them all and reduce the opacity

  • Clipping Mask Technique Question? -pic inside

    Hey everybody,

I know how to add clipping masks to shapes in Photoshop is no problem.

one thing I don't understand, is how to do part of the photo back once you have it locked in a clipping mask.

    Like this...

    9.jpg

I love the way the upper part grows out of the clipping mask.

someone knows how to do this?

    Thank you guys

    Hiya

Simply copy the layer structure in my example. Once you have the image of filling on the top layer and a black layer mask in place, make sure first that the blending mode is set to 'normal', it should be as it is by default. Press d on the keyboard to select the colors of foreground and background by default, then x to make a pure white the foreground color. Press b on the keyboard to select the Brush tool and set it is small enough and halfway between soft and hard and the opacity to 100%.  Now click on the layer mask black on the top layer to select and begin to paint on the canvas. You should see the image at the top starts to become visible as you paint. If you go off and parts of the image you don't want revealed begin to appear then simply change the color of foreground to black by pressing x on the keyboard and paint on the unwanted parts to hide. Then alternate the color white again by pressing x and continue painting, ensuring that all the time that the layer mask is selected is not the image itself. If the edges of the picture that you paint look causing some simply reduce the hardness of the brush.

    Hope it's a little clearer.

  • A simpler method of dividing or clipping mask?

OK, I'm back with a new question. Design to go on Tshirt

    NOT CE DESIGN, just example.

Shirt color shows while creating lines in the gun (indicated by black background)

Here I have a firearm on a locked layer black background. All the white parts of the pistol

are their own forms, grouped. (so the gun rest the gun.)

As you can see, with a pistol on the right, the black background (color of the shirt) shows

by creating the outline of the gun.

Now, I want to overlay of this indicator on the gun to fire at

where it seems that the gun has a flag on this issue.

    2016-01-11_23-45-00.jpg

Now here's a clipping mask. Yes it works, but for what I do. I can't have paths in the background

that make up the flag. No extra charge no matter what, just the barrel and research as it has a flag. Clipping path

method also creates a larger file. For screen printing on t-shirts, these additional lines of the invisible flag

    can cause a problem.

    2016-01-11_23-46-34.jpg

Divide then works fine. I put the gun in the back, the flag on the front and divide. Then ungroup.

In the image below, I've removed many of the parts of the Pavilion which were divided.

However, then I have to hunt for the paths that I want to be transparent (so shirt shows through lines).

It takes a lot of time. You can see that I chose a piece inside the drum of spinning, where the bullets are going inside.
This piece is deleted, like many others, up to what the black shirt color indicates where to, once again.

    2016-01-11_23-57-02.jpg

There must be an easier way to do it. So he superimposed the indicator only on the white of the forms that make the gun
as a clipping mask, but where I can remove all paths associated with the parts of the flag I don't need.

    Notice to lovers?

This is exactly the situation I have right now. I have a skull that I need to superimpose a flag on.

    I THOUGHT WITH A WORKAROUND... I'M A GENIUS!

Thus, while brainstorming, I think I have a better method.

We will use a black background as a cutter.

With the help of a black background even size as a document.

With the help of skull original to cut through leaving the black. (select skull and black background then split)

Edit > cut black (who is a master of cutting everything that needs to be transparent.) now in the Clipboard

Put the flag in the document, paste black flag.

    Select Black punch and flag.

    Divide

    Ungroup

Select same fill color (by selecting the black hole)

    Delete

ALTO! Left with all the pieces that have the color of the flag.

    ALL VECTORS. Reduced file size.

    I'M A BEAST!

I now use cookie cutter method on all the models that I had.

and it's considerably allowing a reduced file size.

Mainly because there is only one group, which contains all the parts

    that make up the drawing.
With the help of text and expand on the text damaged by arches, which had created grunge effects

    large file formats.

Maybe all that could be cleaned.

However, this method is so easy.

  • Maintenance of Photoshop Dec2015 cc is a clipping mask may not be 100% opaque / less transparency to 0%

Since the update of December 2015, the clipping in Photoshop mask does not display 100% of the image, if the mask is white.

It's like I painted gray on the clipping mask, instead of white.

    Freddyboss,

If I (put) understand it, the clipping mask simply hides the parts outside, do not crop the image/artwork.

If you want to get rid of the external parts, you can do so by other means for vector graphics, such as Pathfinder operations or other similar means.

If you want to crop the images, you can use Photoshop, or do the dirty work of destructive, with the selected clipping mask:

    (1) in the drop-down list the palette/Panel transparency list select everything except Normal (Multiply is fine; this step may not be necessary in your version, you can try without him).

    (2) object > flatten transparency, just keep the defaults including 100% vector.

    (3) thrill.

That's all (images raster to the Clipping Path bounding box) cultures.

  • Library adds a clipping mask

Whenever I have put an image in the library, she's dating a unwanted clipping mask.  I do something wrong or is this a "feature"?

There is no clipping masks in InDesign. I think that you referring to the image the image is contained in. An image cannot exist in InDesign, frameless, so when you drag one on an InDesign page, a frame is created automatically. If you want the image you did slip out of the library to be in a different setting, select the image using the acquisition card is contained, or the direct Selection (white arrow) tool, copy it, and then select another image and choose Paste inside.

  • Clipping mask works do not (tried the advice from here and other sites, nothing worked)

I really didn't want to be * that * fool who asks for help on a topic that has been covered for several times, but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I'm doing a clipping mask to a group of numbers in the form of letters. Is a big pile of numbers with overlap I just seem to be in the form of an A and a B. All that happens is everything becomes a white fill.

    I have already tried/is:

    -Selected all

-Tried grouped and not separated, no difference

    -Vectorization of text creation

    -Numbers flattened/expanded

-Statements/flattened numbers merged in a vector

-Created transparent traces (everything turned white again)

-Copied and pasted into a new file (still turned all white)

    -Clipping for layer mask

    -Ctrl + 7 clipping mask

-Tried to place the letters in front of and behind the numbers, separately and at the same time

    -Pixelated battery number

-Make sure my letters have not merged with numbers

Just for fun, I tried to make another mask for clipping on a string of digits indicated and a hexagon. It worked perfectly fine. I would try to divide everything, but because the numbers are all in a big mess, it would take waaay too long to get the look I want. Can anyone suggest what else I could try?

I using CS3 if that helps.

the form A and B must be a composite-no trace group. RADD on transparent traces in the manual.

  • Clipping Mask reverse

    Hello

I'm working on a simple design of a Sun. I want that all the rays of the Sun to have an as far away from the center circle. The rays are three lines which run all the way to appear at the other side of the Sun. I made the rays using lines with a heavy blow, and then I chose each line, went to the object > path > stroke outline to convert the lines into an object of four points.

I reached equal space around the Sun by simply applying a white line around the Sun, I did as an example of what I try to achieve. Is it possible to apply a reverse clipping mask or another method to cut all the lines perfectly around the circle?

    Sun.pngthe circle of the Sun.

You can select all the objects and select object > break down (it can offer to break up the look in option)

If you expand all objects you can then use Pathfinder > fracture to cut all objects on another. If you ungroup then the resulting objects, you can remove all additional thresholds that you don't need, leaving you with your rays and the Sun (note that they will be all filled objects, without hits)

This will also cause the paths underlying rays have cut through your circle, so if you select all the "pieces" of the circle and use Pathfinder > unit you can "go back".

  • race around a clipping mask

    Hello

I have a picture, I created a circle on top of the image

I created a mask with the transparency Panel, it's a clip mask and the image appears only inside the circle.

    My question?

How can I have a white line around the circle?

    Thank you!!!

    Mauricio

To add a line for the mask, do not use the transparency Panel. Use instead object > clipping mask > make. You can then select the mask outline and add your feature.

  • Does not clipping mask

Okay, so I'm VERY new to this (I started about an hour ago!) I'm doing a mask of clipping with the mask being the outline of the France and the image inside the French pavilion. Here are the steps I've taken so far:

    File > new

Open > Silhouette of France (photo)

Trace as silhouette picture > Expand.

    Drag the new file.

    Open > French flag (photo)

Drag the new file and put in a layer separated the silhouette.

Place the figure on top of the French flag, select all, do a clipping mask.

Then everything goes white! I can still see the outline, paths etc. of the silhouette, but I just do not understand what I am doing wrong! If someone could explain it to me in simple terms it would be amazing because I don't really know what I'm doing!

I would add the photos that I use and the end result I get...

    France silhouette.jpgFrance flag.jpgissue 1.pngissue 2.png

    SoBo,

Parts of France appear to be a group rather than a compound path. It would be better that you could expand the layers completely, by expanding the group.

As I said, an opacity mask can be more forgiving and work with a group.

I took the parts of France to have any respect and a white fill, otherwise, you can give one (or a black fill), then (the mask Invert suggested in post #2 was based on a black fill, sorry):

    (1) select the two parts of the France and the object > group or object > compound mask > make;

    (2) select all and in the appearance palette flyout, click make some with ticked Clip opacity mask and mask Invert unchecked (checked if the filling is black).

    The op:

Drag the new file and put in a layer separated the silhouette.

To be in the same layer, just have a layer and file > place the flag inside image, then the image of the France and go from there.
