Clone a hard drive Macbook Air

The time on my MacBook Air Machine is not working properly, and I want to do a full backup of my hard drive. How to clone hard drive internal of my computer on an external hard drive.

Use Carbon Copy clone.
I used it for years. A pretty nice app for this.

There are also some SuperDuper. I used a few years ago, but both loved CCC much more. I know others like SD, however.

Can anyone help please.  I'm sure that its very simple.  I have a Macbook Air and create books for children.  I saved all the files on my iclouddrive account, thinking that I don't use space on my hard drive!  However, my hard drive is now complete.  I thought by storing all my files on the cloud, the hard drive of my computer would be pretty empty, after all this is why I bought a Macbook Air!  I asked for support to an apple store and they said that some Macbook Air have a bug that duplicates files and I need to check the files are uploaded on my drive to iCloud and then re - install the OS on my MBAir to get rid of the bug

3 questions: it will work.  Y at - it a simpler way and he will wipe away the files on iCloud drive at the same time or they will be safe until I have access again to my newly cleaned MBAir?

    help most appreciated.

If you have the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud drive turned on, then all files that you have stored in iCloud drive to https://www.icloud.com/ will have a local copy on your Mac. It's not a bug, this is how it is designed to work. iCloud Drive is mainly designed for the synchronization of data between devices and is not intended as a storage cloud solution only.

I don't think that you can do in XP. I think that you need x 64 XP, Vista x 64 win7 x 64 or windows server x 64. As it says here

  • Which hard drive MacBook Pro 2012

    Hello

I have Non - Retana MacBook Pro 2012, it has its default 500 GB hard drive, it is too small and too slow.

I have found that I can put a 2 TB in current housing and a second in the SuperDrive slot should I want to.

But my Question, above all, the it restrictions on the brand that I can use?

If I wanted a SSD I know not all readers of work with her because of the TRIM settings, but I still don't know what to do if I went to SSD.

Could I ask for some advice please on this please.

I have £100 to spend so I was counting on a HARD drive not SSD for the more size.

Any HDD SATA with a 2.5 form factor "will be compatible with your MBP.  Here are some examples:

If you are considering an SSD, I recommend OWC and Crucial as the best sources.

    Ciao.

  • Hard drive MAC AIR died after 18 months

Bought a Mac Air for my son 18 months ago. The hard drive needs to be replaced, and the estimate is $ 1000.00. May as well buy a new - very disappointing. Did this experiment with 3 computers HP laptop just out of warranty and decided to change to Apple. I bought 3 Macs in the last 2 years, now I'm very worried - is 18 month life can I expect from a Mac?

The same thing happened to me! What happens to Apple products! I can't afford to replace them every 12 months, especially when it costs thousands!

  • Can't erase hard drive MacBook Pro - "could not disassemble the drive.

I lost my original install discs Mountain Lion. Spin a MacBook Pro (2011 model).

I found some articles that show you how to remove & reinstall everything without use of the physical disks. It is to restart my MacBook, pressing command-R, will using this toerase my hard drive and disk utilities

However, when I try to wipe my drive, this error message appears: "erase disc failed with the error: failed to unmount disk.»

I have attached a picture of the error that is displayed.

On the left side of the utility window of disc (see attachment), there where hard disks are displayed, it shows the drive of 500 GB Toshiba MK. Directly below is the option "Macintosh HD."

This error ONLY appears when I try to erase the disc from Toshiba. But this allowed me to erase the hard drive Macintosh option. Why is this? My drive was nonetheless erased? Or I still have to do something else?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

  • Pass water damaged hard drive Macbook Pro (mid-2010) to another Macbook Pro (mid-2010)?

Someone accidentally spilled water on my MacBook Pro 'Core i7' 2.66 GHz 15 "mid-2010 and after trying to dry out for a few days, I'm sure that the keyboard is in ruins, and it may be worse (I suspect the logic board like most people), but I need to (would really) keep my documents etc. However, we happen to have an another i7 2.66 GHz 15 "mid 2010 Macbook Pro lying around not being used. I'm a student in computer engineering and I'm pretty good with electronics and figure, that I can use the practice, so I was planning on trying to replace the keyboard myself, but I plan on getting a new MBP in the next few months, so I'd rather do less work if possible. MY MAIN QUESTION IS: since I'm very lucky and I have two little nearly exact same model MBP can put the hard drive of the damaged water MBP (also long the HDD no is not damaged by water) in the MBP running? And if so, what would be my challenges and if it works well enough to use for a month or two? Thank you!

TLDR: I can take a HDD on a MBP and put it in a similar model without too much difficulty?

Yes, but you're probably better to put in an envelope instead. If you start another Mac, or in an enclosure closed or internally, a very small number of parameters will not be postponed, and some commercial programs may refuse to run.

  • Hard drive MacBook Pro broken?

    Hi all

Last night my Macbook hung - spinning wheel and non-sponsive so difficult to hold down the power button and I think I have hard disk problems:

I get the grey folder flashing when I start.

Boot in safe mode does not work.

Boot in Apple Hardware test does not work

I can boot to OS X Utilities (cmd + r) and have tried to restore from a backup and it does not find a local disk to restore. I have a backup stored on the time machine.

I also tried to restore Mac OS X from the same menu - and even when it does not find a local disk to restore.

I ran disk in the same menu utility and I do not get an option to check the disk (in gray) or erase disc (also grey).

Can anyone advise on the next steps before I take it down to the Apple store? Far from being a guru on this stuff! MacBook is 13 "and 5 years with 512 MB hard drive. Ran the Mavericks.

    Thanks in advance!

  • During the stoppage of the partition, partition still on the hard drive Macbook

Tonight I went to use Bootcamp to get 8.1 Windows on my MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, end of 2013), El Capitan 10.11.3 running. I had about 120 GB on my hard drive before you start. My Macbook has made to pay all the time.

I have my serial number for 8.1 I was going to install 8.1 then update to 10. I had the. ISO on my desk and I've been using a 16 GB flash drive. Everything was going well (it does not seem to take a bit to download the necessary files for the flash player) and when I got to the next step to partition my hard drive I chose 50 GB for Windows. He began partitioning and I had to got for a second and of course when I got home it was on the screen to type my password. I thought for a second, he finished, but then he said that he had to stop unexpectedly.

I went to open bootcamp and it just took me the steps from beginning. Now my problem is that I have 50 GB of the partition and I don't know how to get it back. I rebooted my Macbook, CMD + R, go to disk utility and ran first aid on the hard drive. He was executed successfully, but my hard drive is still missing as 50 GB. I restarted and went to the utility disk on my office and made the same thing. This time around the first aid took a little longer to work so I thought I had it, but these 50 GB are still missing.

Anyone know how I can return these 50 GB? I prefer not to format my hard drive and start over. I just want back the 50 GB. Also, if anyone has the answer as to why he closed Middle partition would be great as well so I can make sure I do it correctly this time.

    Thank you.

  • Question of replacement for the hard drive MacBook Pro Late 2008

    Hello

My MBP HD headed to the exit so I'll take the plunge and get a replacement SSD to install it.  Being not too tech savvie I'm trying to cover all the bases before starting the replacement so I think I'm OK to get to the old and a new one outside.

I read that a clean install of Mac OS X is recommended.  The plan is to install the new SSD and connect the old HD the MBP for a speaker for the migration of files once the SSD has been formatted and installed operating system.  One of my questions is what OS can / should I install in the first place on the new SSD.  I have the Leopard installation disc that came with the MBP, I also have a Snow Leopard install disc I bought (this is the version 10.6.3).  Start with the Snow Leopard disc or do I have to install Leopard first?  I would get the new OS SSD up to version I'm currently on (10.7.5).

My other question is around RAM.  As part of the upgrade, I plan to replace and max of RAM, I've seen is now 8 GB between the two slots.  I read what the maximum capacity to 8 as part of an update of the firmware.  So the question is: should I do all updates of OS before installing the RAM?  The MBP would difficult treat 8GB if the firmware update is not installed through the different software updates that will be needed once the OS is installed on the SSD?

    Advice/suggestions appreciated.

    See you soon

    J

Replace the RAM can be done at any time. If you have already downloaded the firmware required, it has already updated your material and will not be lost when you replace the hard drive. However, according to Apple, your computer can manage only a 4 GB. I could be missing something...

See here: MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) - technical data sheet

As far as your OS issue, the best thing to do is get the updated software to match the information that you are migrating back (to make sure no problem with migration). The best way to do it, is to download recovery disk wizard and install it on an extra USB key. This allows you to install Lion without having to install Leopard or Snow Leopard first. This will also use disk utility to format the new SSD correctly.

  • How to clone a hard drive replace 1 TB HD with 4 TB SSHD?

I have a HP Envy 700-215xt and need more quickly and more storage so I bought a 4TB SSHD to replace the 1 TB HD.  But I could not copy the original HD in the SSHD using Seagate DiscWizard.   Acronis software cloning could not too much because the hard drive is not detected (inactive), it may be blocked by something?  How to clone the disk? Thank you!

    Thank you! Dundar!

Finally, I could copy the original HD HP to the SSHD using EaseUS Todo Backup free 7.0.   Acronis (I) could not detect the hard drive HP (inactive?). I like EaseUS Todo Backup free 7.0 which is software free and can clon all HD to any DH (any size & any). Thanks EaseUS Todo Backup!

  • I want to clone my hard drive and this clone allows you to configure a new computer, how do I do this for several PCs with different versions of XP?

I am trying to replace 15 PCs.  They all have XP because their BONES, bought with different SPs at different times.  They all have been updated to SP3...  They have all MS 2003, upgaded to MS 2007.  I would use a clone as image.  I do not support different key codes?  Although the XP are authentic, I may not all key codes.  My predessor has not keep good records, and stickers on some had labels of Vista.  Even if the PC was bought with XP downgrade.  I need to use XP because of some other software requirements.

  • Trying to clone a hard drive under XP SP3

The hard drive on my Dell Precision is old and only 30GB.  I am running XP, SP3. I bought a120GB drive and I tried the old drive with O & O diskimage cloning.  I tried to clone the disk with each of the options, ranging from the simple clone for "leading lawyers". Each result was the same, I would try and boot the new disk and would get a failure of a missing file.  I tried to use my Dell OEM XP CD to repair the installation, but it did not work.  I just get a missing file error and restart the computer.   Any ideas?

  • How clone a HARD drive and then use the clone with VMware (as well as Windows works!)?

I have a system where Windows 7 is installed, and I'm doing a clone of her image of HARD drive, I then want to use in my main with VMware PC, so that I can start Windows 7 at the cloned disk.

I used Ultimate Boot CD v5.1.1 with which HDD I wanted to clone, and I cloned using EaseUs Disk Copy, which comes with Ultimate Boot CD. The source HARD drive was 250 GB in size which had 3 partitions, while the USB HDD I have attached to the system, which was supposed to be the disk of destination/clone, was 320 GB in size. I chose to create a replica, exact and up to 250 GB of data (partitions, etc.) has been copied exactly, and the rest of space was not allocated. I have now connected this USB HDD to my main PC, shot to the top of VMware Workstation 8 and defined a new Virtual Machine and chose to boot from the USB HDD.

The result is that when Windows starts (from the cloned HDD inside VMware), I get the blue screen error until I get to the login screen.

How can I change my methodology so that Windows starts even on the clone? I can change the tools I use, etc.

You can use the usb drive is
you only need to patch the system a little registry
to do this, you start the virtual machine with the usb drive in a restore win7 CD, and then follow the instructions I posted here
    http://sanbarrow.com/p2v2008r2.html

    Patching - easy Variant

This procedure is used when otherwise the VM would start in a kind of bluescreen 7B.
This means that VMware is the target and that you configure the computer virtual with VirtualHardware type 7.
It applies only if the virtual disk is configured like this
    scsi0.virtualDev = "lsisas1068".
    scsi0:0. FileName = "imported.vmdk".

On the platform target start the virtual machine, newly created in the Windows 7 recovery CD.
After the initialization is complete, click CMD and run regedit.
Select HKLM, then Menu > file > load hive.
Navigate to the Windows directory on the virtualdisk > system32\config and select the file SYSTEM.
When asked for a name enter p2v.
    Then find the key

    HKLM\p2v\ControlSet001\services\LSI_SAS

and the startup type of the REG_DWORD value 0
Select HKLM\p2v, and then click Menu > file > unload hive.
You can now close regedit and restart.
The next time you start, you can start in the 2008 R2 system. He should find the drivers and probably need to reboot when finished.
