Cofiguring failover between two JOINT 2 blades in two switch identical 6500
I have two cisco 6500 core switch, each switch has its own JOINT module. How to configure switching module JOINT.
The IPS software (on all devices and JOINT blades) does not support a (unlike many Cisco firewall products) statefull failover. How to run a version of failover is to have the two IDSMs running with the same policies and traffic have move from one frame to another (Mathurine you shouldn't have one side of a TCP session via on leave 6509 and back by the other).

My iMac freezes during a turn on and between two switching user accounts
My 2011 iMac has been crashing for weeks. Usually, it freezes when I turn it on, connect to switching user accounts or user accounts.
I upgraded to Sierra yesterday and I continued using for hours and it was fine.
I turned on today; some of the Apple applications do not work... Mail, App Store, Safari (this is what I tried). Responsible mail application, saw a list of emails, but when I click on a particular message, the message will not load. Safari cannot load a Web page at all (I'm now using Chrome). AppStore cannot load anything too.
I asked for help here before the crash but I was reluctant to share the report of being. Now, I've read about it and understand how it works. The report says "failed".
Appreciate the help of the community. Thank you.

Vs LACP LAG between two PowerConnect 5448 s
Hi all.
Just got a switch configuration quad for our infrastructure EqualLogic SAN using PowerConnect 5448 s. One thing I never did before her configuration of aggregation of links.
If I wanted to set up an aggregate of 4-port connection between two switches, say on ports 1 to 4, and our iSCSI VLANS is 1000, the below will work?

The doc of interoperability for Cisco <->Dell seems to want to use LACP on the side of Dell. I wonder, should I configure and link LACP on the two 5448 aggregate s I have are running?

No problem, I'll go through your points as completely as possible. I advise you to read more about these protocols, maybe if you have access to INE or similar, see their videos on this. I would also like to say again that I have not seen all documentation Cisco indicating that FabricPath to be used as a DCI.
With regard to the way fabric you ask what follows...
1. only can use it between two datacenters of you have more we can't, please correct me?
No, you can use the path of fabric with more than two data centers, but even with OTV, you can use it with more than two data centers.
2. HSRP localization can not be implemented as OTV. However You can have two differnet Gateways at the Data Center 1 and 2 using two different HSRP groups. If server is moved dynamically from, (i didn't understand this point can you please explain with example?
OK, so this is a GREAT topic. Location of HSRP CAN be implemented with OTV, but cannot be implemented with fabric path. First hop redundancy protocols can be localized and is supported by Cisco with OTV, this basically allows the same default gateway to reside in two of your data centers providing the ACTIVE/ACTIVE configuration. So no matter where your VM is, they did not change their default, even if gateway your servers to move to the other datacenter.
If we didn't have this, we would have only an active member of HSRP divided between DC and things would be extremely troublesome in regard to traffic flows. A virtual machine in DC2 VLAN needs to talk to host in VLAN B. But the default gateway is completely in DC1. So frame is sent to the ICD in DC1, then the gateway by default, routes packets VLAN B. This VLAN B lies in fact in DC2, so now it has to go all the way back to DC2. You get my point...? :)
With localization happen only local to the domain controller. If all servers / VMS in the domain controller can speak locally to its "own" default gateway.
3. unknown unicast flooding (can you give me an example?)
Unknown unicast traffic is unicast packets/images with unknown destination mac address. By default, switches are flooding this type of traffic to all ports in the VLAN. With path of fabric that would take place during your DCI, but with OTV, it is all taken care locally, so massive savings on bandwidth here and it is much more effective.
4. ARP optimization between Data Center (can you give an example regarding ARP optimization?)
There is another function of OTV, which makes it far superior on the way of tissue. Essentially, we are reducing the volume of traffic passing through the transport infrastructure (i.e. ICD)
When ARP, host in DC1 to host that responds in DC2, we use links and there is travel time of package that might be minimal, but is not the most optimal. OTV AED - or edge device spy ARP response and subsequently knows that this mapping exists from there. ARP takes place after the first Protocol, the EDA almost proxy ARP to DC1 so the ARP request locally does not have to travel to DC2.
5. Typically two flows (Odd VLANs by OTV-VDC-1 and even vlans by OTV-VDC-2) carry the entire layer 2 traffic flow between the two Data Centes. Hence the load balancing the links is not efficient. ( (can you explain compare with FabricPath if you have example?)
IMHO, it's bad and good. Balance the workload of the OTV if you have more than an AED on site. VLAN strange appointment via an AED, even numbered VLAN go through the other. Depending on traffic on VLANs, this could become unbalanced. Fabric used by all its links to mac addresses 'route' to the respective SID - ID switch she needs to do. So perhaps a better uniformity of split here.
6. VLAN scalability for OTV is lower than FabricPath as of this content writing. (can you explain what this mean i didn't understand it)
I completely disagree with this comment. I too do not understand.
7. Resiliency of FabricPath network is better than OTV in some failure scenarios.(can me an example ?)
I also disagree with that. Resilience of path of fabric could be same as OTV or perhaps better. However, my personal experience is that OTV fine tuning with things like BFD failover is much faster!
Fabric is good because the control of aircraft ISIS and its operation is admirable, but could say the same for the OTV.
Lets say one of the DCI links had to die, the transmission of the tissue path would continue through the other links, then perhaps for low latency, high frequency, environments that would be beneficial. OTV will change the EDA and re - learn mac, announced by other AEDS, addresses, but as I said, the time could be extremely minimal and tuning. This isn't a big deal, unless you need under second time convergence!
I hope that I have answered your questions, I recommend use for your DCI OTV, use the path of fabric for your inside of local switching in your DC. This has been implemented repeatedly and the links I sent you the models validated Cisco also point out.
Remember - fabric has been built to be a step towards TRILL, and replacement of protocols spanning-tree, OTV was built especially for the dci. They are both built and examples of specific design. It makes no sense to get these confused or mixed up, unless there is a real and pressing the case.
Joel conclusion is right, use the right tools for the job. If the use case is good for the FP then OK, if not, OTV.

How backup VPN configuration between two universities?
Hello, I am a student of the Greece and I have a graduation project to configure Backup VPN between two universities. Principal of communication made with leased lines. I study a lot, but now that it's time for implementation I have some thoughts:

In our scenario, given that our main connection is a direct leased line between E and F, so I guess there is no other network between the two routers. In this case we do not need to configure SLA monitoring or any interface a priority. We can simply enter two default routes:
IP route
IP route 254
In this scenario, if the leased line interface goes down, the second default route is used and the traffic should be routed by A router.
SLA monitoring monitors connection (using the ping tests) by one of the interfaces of the router, and when we are not able to ping from one server (specified in the configuration of the SLA) through the interface, then we change the default track to track traffic through some other interface.
So, in your scenario, we can monitor the connection between E and F, and when the link goes down, we can change the default route to point a.
This is useful in the scenario where we have another ISP connection as our primary connection.

After you have configured the SLA followed by using the link above, you can bind it to the default route by using the following command line:

Use of the port on 6500 JOINT-2 blade
I recently received a JOINT-2 blade for my Cat6K. An installation problem that I had was that I couldn't find anywhere documentation on the use of sensor ports. I write this note in the hope that someone else saves some time.
The JOINT-2 blade seems to the 6K 8 ports:

Port x / 2 is the port command and control. On the 6K, set this port in a VLAN suitable for the IP address, you give the sensor. Do not use VLAN 1, which is the default value. Ports x / 7 and x / 8 are the ports of sniff. Use SPAN or VACL to direct traffic to these ports. x / 7 is enabled by default; I'm not sure x / 8. Note that x / 7 and x / 8 by default have all the VLANS together, so they can listen to almost anything send you them. (You don't really need two ports sniffer; there are two because of the architecture of the blade).
Finally, I thought that x 1 is used to send TCP reset packets. Again, it has all the VLAN, the default, so it can pick up the right pair. This use of x / 1 differs from what I heard earlier in the week at Networkers, 2003, so I would be grateful if someone could confirm this.

The CIDS module uses 4 following IP ports: a port command and control, 2 ports and capture a port reset. interface c & c is on port 2, module has two ports sniffing which are considered by the switch as ports 7 and 8.
Starting with version 4.1, the multiple possibilities of interface sniffing will be introduced, so the port 7 and 8 can be used effectively to sniff 2 segments.
Port 1 used for resetting, the important point is that the reset port must be assigned to the same vlan as resets ports sniff in order to perform the TCP protocol.

I do a search in the search of the best solution for switching between two ASA and hoped that someone wants to point me in the right direction.
The situation is this, we got:
-Head Office 2:
Each is equipped with an ASA 5505
-10 branches
Each is equipped with a 887 integrated services router.
Each is BranchOffice must have a redundant VPN connection at the headquarters of these two, and they all need to use the first person as main and the other in high school. In case of failure, all branches need to use the second connection VPN going the second seat.
In my research, I'm looking for the best possible solution, with faster failover, but have no idea where to start my research.
I hope someone has a good answer for this one.

I do not understand why people continue to use ASA devices for VPN endpoint. the ASA is NOT designed for complex VPN scenarios. It is designed for simple scenarios. In terms of VPN by using comparison, ASA is a person with a basic education while Cisco IOS is like a person with a college degree.
For the scenario, you will be much better using Cisco IOS routers everywhere, where you can implement the GRE/IPSec or DMVPN. Both cases will be sastify to your needs.

Here, I need to exclude Dates that lights up "Saturday" and "Sunday" and also the joint birthday partyDT DT 04/25/2012 04/26/2012 04/27/2012 04/28/2012 04/29/2012 04/30/2012 05/01/2012 05/02/2012 05/03/2012 05/04/2012 05/05/2012
