Color LAB

Hello

I have a question about color Lab, there is Posibility to read the value of laboratory?

For example, I want to ask Illustrator if the selection of documents have SpotColorKind Lab, attract the attention of L, value, b.

The weird thing, color Lab in the document is that they live inside spot, but .color property these tones gives only the color object equivalent to convert process. To get the color Lab that produces the source for the rest of the points of view of this color, it is what spot.getInternalColor () seems to be for.

#target illustrator
function test(){
  var doc = app.activeDocument, thisItem, labArr;
  for(var i=0; doc.selection != null &&  i

    Hello

    I have a few questions to allow the Lab color picker in Adobe Camera RAW: I can activate on a few computers, but it seems that this option is not available on other computers.

    Can you explain why on a few computers I'm not able to allow the visualization of color Lab?

    I have the same problem on a victory as well as on a Mac computer.

  • The basics on how to properly manage the profiles when you work with LAB color?

    Hello

    I need to incorporate several color blocks in an InDesign document. I have the colors in a list as a LABORATORY values. The document will be printed, and I have the profile for the combo printer/paper that we intend to use.

    One of you would be willing to walk me through the workspace, the color management policies and Assign/convert setings profile should I use to get the best result?

    And, more precisely - assuming that I use the color Panel - no color chart - color in blocks: what settings should I use Inorder for me to rely on the warning "out of gamut" provided to warn me if I try to use a color that doesn't print correctly?  I don't care if it is out of gamut for the purposes of my screen - it's whether out-of-gamut phew for printing purposes and I want to know.

    Are all the colors in the document you send really Lab? If this is the case your color settings and profiles have no effect on these colors. Your printer will convert colors to CMYK Lab somewhere in their workflow, and it will be for them to choose the right destination profile. If you know what will be their destination the CMYK profile, it would not hurt to apply it to your document, but it's their choice, of the for use or not when they exit your file.

    Know your printer that you send color Lab?

  • By selecting the LAB oposit colors

    Salvation;

    It will be nice if when you do a localized brush setting, choose the tint you could chose the opposite
    color LAB in the selector.

    And I explain
    myself, why is that.

    When I try to correct the color temperature, I can use color temp but it will affect
    all the image and a few times I need to correct the color temperature a portion of the image. The best way to get it is to choose the area of color I want to fix and see what color LAB do. For example, I could get an orange color as L = 89, A = - 6, B = + 72. To correct the color, the only thing I have to do is tint of the area of desire with inverseLAB colors, in this case L = 89, = + 6, B =-72 witch is a blue color and then applyopacity to get the look of desire

    Perhaps, by selecting the opposite color could be done in HSL space too. Change the hue by 180 ° and you're there.

  • What is the best way to make big changes of color for items that are already selected?

    CS4 on Mac. I want to do some color changes. So many options! It is posed, for the items in question, they are already a good, saved section that describes also the colors, the new colors I want to use are recorded to the color chart. And one of the changes is a little extreme - satuaration, hue and brightness. In these circumstances, what technique of color change would try first?

    If you mark a specific point in the image and the shade with the color sampler tool, you can use the curves to match the values. Unfortunately, with a reference to singlepoint, as RGB color changes it can also change the tonal scale and local contrast and can even change color in the image. The best solution, especially if one of your samples consist of a significant change in the value is color LAB where color and tonal scale are handled in separate channels.

  • Color variation with or without objects with transparency masks

    Hi, I have a CC PDF Illustrator with multiple pages and multiple spot colors defined by the user and on some pages of an element containing the mask transparency.

    The problem with color deviation between the pages with and without the object that contains the tx masks as they are imported into InDesign.

    Looking at the page in InDesign with the described object, color chart, imported from Illustrator no longer correspond to any PDF file.

    Without the mask tx, correspond to the Illustrator PDF color chart color placed in the shade in InDesign.

    What is going on?

    Thank you! However, when changing of my swatches of color Lab (two requests), I am unable to get a match between my swatch in InDesign (new) and my original (now laboratory) Illustrator.

    I see the right answer in the InDesign forum where Steve Werner tells us to change the space of fusion of the transparency in InDesign, under Edit > space of merger of transparencies.  With the color chart value Lab, CMYK, or RGB mixture actually works.

  • Error "Not implemented" tones book/print lab

    Hello all, back haha, same script.

    Every once in a while I would get an error unimplemented when I tried to print. I was able to reduce to exactly what was causing the problem, the tasks of the coatings library solid pantone. These tasks are color book/lab-mode as opposed to CMYK. When I convert to CMYK, the script would work without error.

    Technically the line that contains the error is 35 when it is printed, but of other trial and error, I discovered what is really the cause, it's when I try to give the news options of separation a list of ink on line 27. This works when the tasks are all CMYK, and she will be this "not implemented" error when there is a place with a lab color. Here are some of the problem.

    docRef = app.activeDocument;

    app.coordinateSystem = CoordinateSystem.ARTBOARDCOORDINATESYSTEM;

    printPostScript();

    function printPostScript() {

        app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTS;

       var jobOpts = new PrintJobOptions();

       var opts = new PrintOptions();

        opts.jobOptions =  jobOpts;

       opts.PPDName = 'AdobePdf';

       opts.printerName= 'Adobe PostScript File';

       var sepOpts = new PrintColorSeparationOptions();

       sepOpts.colorSeparationMode = PrintColorSeparationMode.HOSTBASEDSEPARATION;

    //here is the error
       sepOpts.inkList = docRef.inkList;

       opts.colorSeparationOptions = sepOpts;

    docPath3 = decodeURI( '~/Desktop/comps/' + 'dud' + '.ps' );

             jobOpts.file = File( docPath3 );

            app.activeDocument.print( opts );

            };

    So yes, don't know why this is happening. I am able to print spot colors lab very well through the user interface, do not know why the error is there, do I need to convert them using the script somehow? or is there some sort of setting that could remedy?

    Thanks in advance!

    Yes, of course nothing!
    Use app.convertSampleColor)<-- the="" destination="" parameter="" is="" actually="" required="" for="" this="" to="" not="" fail,="" so="" use="" undefined="" in="" parameters="" that="" you="" don't="" care="" about="" remembering="" or="">
    It will return an array of numbers which you are free to use it how you see fit.

    I made my own function to wrap an additional level of comfort:

    function convertAppColor (src, dest, clrArr) {}

    Return app.convertSampleColor (clrArr, ImageColorSpace [dest], ImageColorSpace [CBC], ColorConvertPurpose.defaultpurpose);

    }

    So a typical use:
    var myColorArr = convertAppColor ("LAB", "CMYK", mySpot.getInternalColor ());

  • How can I change colors of exact CMYK values?

    How to change a color so that it has exactly 95, 95, 0, 0 CMYK values?  It should be a dark purple-ish color.  Thank you!

    No need to change the color lab work in your usual profile profile, [(probablement Adobe RGB).] Click on the foreground color correction. When the color picker appears, the upper right quadrant shows its equivalent values in color Lab L a and b. Now, make a selection and tap inside with the pipette. Click on the color correction of prominent and when the color picker appears, change the laboratory values to match your new chosen color. Your foreground color correction will change to reflect the values and the RGB and CMYK values for your workspace will appear also in the color picker.

  • File format: transparency and color data separately reading

    I have a problem of reading data through my plugin file format.

    I can read the different layers in the format in color Lab (8-bit) mode.

    There is a transparency mask of the layer (1 byte for each pixel), which is stored just before the image data in the file.

    Currently, I have tried 2 approaches:

    1.

    -TransparencyPlane set of 3

    -LoPlane set, hiPlane to 3

    -ColBytes set 1

    -Value rowBytes to the width of the image

    -Set the data in a buffer with the size of the width of the image

    -read the line of the transparency mask

    -> advanceState gives error (-30500)

    2.

    -transparency mask read in its entirety (I know, bad idea)

    -TransparencyPlane set of 3

    -Set loPlane = 0, hiPlane = 3

    -ColBytes set of 4

    -The value rowBytes image width * 4

    -Set the data in a buffer with the size of the image width * 4

    -read line in a temp file. buffer

    -copy of temp values. buffer and the transparency of each pixel in the data buffer

    -> advanceState ok but not correct image ks in PS

    I think there must be another, better way to apply the transparency mask.

    Thank you for your help...

    Problem solved.

    I forgot to say PS the exact number of planes in the readStart selector.

    Approach 1 was so good.

  • Profile of color in InDesign question

    I created a shade using a Pantone color:

    Screen Shot 2013-06-10 at 5.28.31 PM.png

    But in the color Panel, it appears as a color lab:

    Screen Shot 2013-06-10 at 5.28.41 PM.png

    And when I have the mouse on the swatch in the swatches Panel, I see these values in the floating yellow box above the sample that appears on mouseover.

    The ink Manager is not to use the lab for task values:

    Screen Shot 2013-06-10 at 5.35.40 PM.png

    Why InDesign converts the tones of colors lab? In addition, fusion of transparent space is set to CMYK (if it's relevant).

    CS6 8.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.8.4 ID

    Any help would be great.

    Best thing is to try it. Open the PDF in Acrobat and open the output Preview Panel. Your Pantone (s) will be listed if it is present at the bottom of the list.

    Take care, Mike

  • Color control on the export in PDF format

    Hi, I have an another Quark to InDesign question:

    I just exported a file in InDesign that uses the same color of Pantone (287C) as a file in Quark, but the two seem very different (in the InDesign PDF colors are faded/lighter/washed out compared to the Quark colors). Region capture 1.png Left is InDesign, right is Quark. Anyone got any ideas on why these are different/how to get Quark color in InDesign?

    It is for the web-distribution, not printing.

    Thank you
    SH

    Why use a spot color for this? Just use a RGB version if it will be broadcast on screen.

    Fine print, you can go into the ink Manager and set tasks to display with the color lab.

  • Explanation of the brightness in Photoshop

    This question has been asked before, but he had no answer. The previous discussion is here:what is the definition of brightness in Photoshop?

    The term 'brightness' is often used in Photoshop for example brightness mix masks of mode and brightness.

    How the brightness is related to the Hue / Saturation / brightness (STL) color model used in the Photoshop color picker?

    East - related to the "lightness" in color Lab, or synonym for 'brightness', or what?

    Andy

    Edit: I found a post of 2008 Re: brightness/color mixing modes - what do really? which may have the answer. Clearly, I need to read more.

    In fact, re-read now, I think that I explained myself well enough in this other thread. Here's how it seems to me:

    Equal brightness the brightness L channel RGB lab is something different, the average of R, G and B, which does not take account of the intrinsic lightness of a color. He's averaging only numbers. And all of this makes perfect sense, given that Lab is used as the 'profile connection space' (or one of them anyway), in all color management operations, what Photoshop does all the time anyway. The point is - Lab numbers are always readily available and easily accessible. Lab is still there, under the covers.

    Applying a kind of calculation of RGB values for brightness is a dead-end road, this isn't how it works. HSB is derived from RGB, so there is no connection with the brightness.

    If you set the histogram on the 'Brightness' display with a RGB file, you get the same result as a reading of channels L in a histogram of laboratory. So clearly, they seem to be the same thing.

    The only person who could answer that with authority, is of course, Chris Cox, who wrote much of the code of the Photoshop color management. If all goes well, he sees this.

  • Make a blue sky? Blue Sky!

    Hello

    I usually, when for example I make banners pay sites, add in the pretty white skies blue.

    Pour it, I add a layer on which I put blue and then with a mask I do so that it applies only to the sky.

    I guess that there are much more simple techniques, including when it is one of obstacles much to, like on the screenshot.

    Can you give me a method more fast please?

    Thank you and good day to all

    How to make my faster blue sky to use a layer of color + mask please?

    Thank you

    If you want to avoid the traditional method of adding a layer and the use of a mask and establishing, in the picture above shows can work for you.

    1 convert the image into color Lab

    2. make duplicate an image and flatten not

    3. image > adjustment > curves and adjust the curve of b as shown.

    which it will produce in the upper layer

    Then set layer Style 'Mix' so like this to eliminate the very blue in the rest of the scene

    to produce this:

    Then go back to RGB mode.

  • Last update of Adobe Photoshop. (Fluidity)

    I try to use the fluidity on the image in RGB 16 bit/chanel. After using the fluidity, the copied layer changed option fusion on the selected area. How to solve this problem? Color Lab, everything is ok on 8 and 16 bit/chanel. In RGB mode on 8 bits/chanel everything is ok too.

    Hi Oleg,

    As mentioned by Chuck, it's a known issue.

    Refer to this link: Photoshop CC 2015.1 liquefy lightens the result on the 16-bit per channel images
