Explanation of the brightness in Photoshop

This question has been asked before, but he had no answer. The previous discussion is here:what is the definition of brightness in Photoshop?

The term 'brightness' is often used in Photoshop for example brightness mix masks of mode and brightness.

How the brightness is related to the Hue / Saturation / brightness (STL) color model used in the Photoshop color picker?

East - related to the "lightness" in color Lab, or synonym for 'brightness', or what?

Edit: I found a post of 2008 Re: brightness/color mixing modes - what do really? which may have the answer. Clearly, I need to read more.

In fact, re-read now, I think that I explained myself well enough in this other thread. Here's how it seems to me:

Equal brightness the brightness L channel RGB lab is something different, the average of R, G and B, which does not take account of the intrinsic lightness of a color. He's averaging only numbers. And all of this makes perfect sense, given that Lab is used as the 'profile connection space' (or one of them anyway), in all color management operations, what Photoshop does all the time anyway. The point is - Lab numbers are always readily available and easily accessible. Lab is still there, under the covers.

Applying a kind of calculation of RGB values for brightness is a dead-end road, this isn't how it works. HSB is derived from RGB, so there is no connection with the brightness.

If you set the histogram on the 'Brightness' display with a RGB file, you get the same result as a reading of channels L in a histogram of laboratory. So clearly, they seem to be the same thing.

The only person who could answer that with authority, is of course, Chris Cox, who wrote much of the code of the Photoshop color management. If all goes well, he sees this.

  • U2715H makes buzzing when the brightness is less than 85 ~.

My new monitor U2715H was beautiful, but makes an annoying Hum/Buzz sound. I found that I could get the sound to go by increasing the brightness above about 85. Given that this brightness level was too high for my application and the sound was distracting, I contacted Dell support and said it was a very unusual problem. They sent me a replacement monitor that I just was put in place. Unfortunately, the replacement screen suffers exactly the same problem! I found messages here to describe this same question in other models (U3011, U2312HM) a few years ago but have not found how / if the issues have been resolved subsequently. Any advice on getting a monitor which do not suffer this problem and/or technical explanations for why that should happen would be very useful.

I will try to adjust the brightness ~ 80 to remove the buzz and then use a software solution to reduce the observed brightness.  This seems as good as the appropriate brightness swing the OSD setting and eventually consume 10 to 20% more energy, but can be a viable compromise.

  • Mixamo to drop the details of Photoshop

    Hello

When I download a character animated on the Mixamo website, then in Photoshop, I lose a few details. Please see attached specifically screenshots the mouth is missing (is one example, eyebrows and other details are also missing).

The character came from Mixamo so I don't even use fuse but I can't find a forum for Mixamo.

    Under download settings, I used:

    Format: Collada (.dae)

Frames per second and Keyframe reduction I tried these combinations (all"with the skin"):

    FPS: 24

    KR: uniform

    FPS: 24

    KR: uniform

    FPS: 30

    KR: uniform

    FPS: 60

    KR: uniform

    FPS: 24

    KR: non-standard

    FPS: 30

    KR: non-standard

    FPS: 60

    KR: non-standard

I also tried keyframe reduction than zero with all FPS as well, but the results are even worse then.

Any help would be appreciated. Adobe support told me to ask here.

I use the latest version of Photoshop CC on a Macbook Pro with specifications in the screenshot.

Well, I found the answer myself.

It's just the opacity in the mouth, eyebrows and eyes by default to zero, you will need to change the opacity to something you want.

You can also change the brightness and other qualities of the character.

    To complete:

    1. Select the 3D layer in the layers panel
    2. Select the "mast" of the character in the 3D Panel
    3. Change the shine/reflection/roughness/opacity/etc settings to get the look you want

    First click on the Expert

  • What is the best way to clear up the brightness of that horse without affecting the color?

    Screen shot 2012-12-30 at 6.41.55 AM.png

    Hi Matt-

Unfortunately, the image you are working with a lot of solid black color data - this means that there is not much variation in tone to work with, as you expect to. However, I have provided a few steps below for you to experiment.

1 using the quick selection tool, select only the area of the photo you want to brighten up - in this case, I chose the horse.

    2. go in Select > refine edge...

3 use the tools to improve the outline to adjust your selection as needed (I would recommend clicking on the RADIUS Smart option).

    4. your selection active, click the fill/adjustment layer icon and select the curves. You can select other options in this menu as well if the curves does not give you the desired effect.

    5. set your curves (or other adjustments) for the look desired as you'd like.

    6. with your selected adjustment layer, click on the blending Mode dropdown at the top of the layers panel, and then select lighten (Alternatively, you can try any other mode of mix that gives you the look you want or brightness).

    7. below, you can see a side-by-side comparison of the images of the horse before and after. Because the black areas of the horse contains data of uniform color, there is no change. However, the bright sections of the horse became brighter and more dynamic while maintaining the tone of the original colors.

I hope this helped - if you need more help, feel free to post again. Good luck!

  • Adjust the brightness of the keyboard of the computer instead of the keyboard?

Yesterday, I spilled some coffee on my keyboard and the computer works well, but my keyboard does not work.  I bought a wireless keyboard to use and it works perfectly, except that the keyboard of my laptop backlight is always on.  I can't figure out how to turn off without using the f5 and f6, keys that don't work on the laptop, so how can I disable this light without using the keyboard?  F5 and f6 don't work on the original keyboard at all, and on the outside, they do not work to adjust the brightness.

    Try this:

Go to system-> keyboard Preferences, and in the keyboard tab, disable(uncheck) automatically "illuminate the keyboard in the dark.

    Hi people,

I have a Pro iPad with iOS 9.3.3 which I intend to use for a limit on a store.

The store is open from 10:00 to 21:00, if of course, I would like to set up the iPad to go to sleep, turn off screen or totally to reduce brightness from 21:00 until 10:00, is it possible?

I tried the Night Shift option with "Warmer", but it is not really dark.

    Thoughts?

Hi TheWeav, the article you mentioned is for the new phones of filed. Is your question about one of those or Firefox on your Windows XP system?

Versions of Firefox for desktop computers do not have a brightness adjustment. You can adjust the brightness of your display using the global setting for Windows, which may include some special on your keyboard function keys or a Windows Control Panel.

If you want only to adjust the brightness of the pages in Firefox - to moderate the white backgrounds, for example - you could try an add-on.

I understand that you want to adjust the brightness of a clip in iMovie for iOS. You cannot adjust the brightness directly, but you can add a filter to a clip or project that could potentially illuminate it for you.

Add video filters - using iMovie for iPhone
