Comments Windows XP keyboard freezes under heavy current hit on Ubuntu host

Hello

I am running a facility otherwise without problem with a host of Ubuntu 8.10 and a guest of Windows XP SP2 (VMware tools) in Workstation 6.5.1 build-126130 installed.

The problem is this: occasionally (usually when I do a lot of typing) the guest OS stops accepting entries to the keyboard. As he does, he takes the last 20-30 keys (the buffer of some keyboard somewhere?) and repeat them several times, so I find myself with a few lines of what I just typed. After that, the customer will not accept any keyboard input, including the "send Ctrl-Alt-Del" command in the VM Worstation menu. Mouse input, however, is not affected by this (still works very well).

The only way to get the comments to replay the keyboard is to restart the guest operating system (which fortunately can be made with the mouse). I tried to suspend/resume the guest and the opening/closing workstation - no effect. I also tried to vary the amount of RAM in the prompt to rule out a problem of low resources - no effect. This does not affect the keyboard in the home... everything is normal.

Any ideas on where this problem is perhaps or anything else to try?

P.S. I've specified manually the next keyboard map in ~/.vmware/config to move other keyboard problems:

xkeymap.keycode.108 = 0 x 138 # Alt_R

xkeymap.keycode.106 = 0 x 135 # KP_Divide

xkeymap.keycode.104 = 0x11c # KP_Enter

xkeymap.keycode.111 = 0 x 148 # Up

xkeymap.keycode.116 = 0 x 150 # down

xkeymap.keycode.113 = 0x14b # left

xkeymap.keycode.114 = 0x14d # right

xkeymap.keycode.105 = 0x11d # Control_R

xkeymap.keycode.118 = 0 x 152 # Insert

xkeymap.keycode.119 = 0 x 153 # Delete

xkeymap.keycode.110 = 0 x 147 # home

xkeymap.keycode.115 = 0x14f # end

xkeymap.keycode.112 = 0 x 149 # before

xkeymap.keycode.117 = 0 x 151 # next

xkeymap.keycode.78 = 0 x 46 # Scroll_Lock

xkeymap.keycode.127 = 0 x 100 # Pause

xkeymap.keycode.133 = 0x15b # Meta_L

xkeymap.keycode.134 = 0x15c # Meta_R

xkeymap.keycode.135 = 0x15d # Menu

    Thank you! I tried what you mentioned, nothing has worked... I plugged a usb keyboard and it works, so I'm starting to believe it could be a motherboard problem. I finally got windows xp pro installed, no conflicts in Device Manager, all the drivers are installed and now running smooth. I removed the keyboard, and re-set, all connections look good, but still not good. the synaptics keyboard works fine and both rt & lft click the buttons. • Windows 7 screen freezes, freezes mouse cursor and keyboard freezes.

    Hi all

    About a month ago my internet kept cutting at about 02:00 in the afternoon - even if my BThub said it was a signal - and my internet access would not return until 05:00 sharp later that day here. This went on for about two weeks, it doesn't happen too much now, however, recently, something happens...

    I have a desktop HP Pavilion s5000 and all day - every day - not only freezes my screen, if I'm online or simply type in a Word doc, but my mouse cursor and keyboard freeze too, all at once. It's as if all of the computer crashes, and the only way I can "unfreeze" it is cutting off the entire batch to the switch. In this case nothing three times a day to ten times a day. Can someone tell me what could be the problem and how I can try to solve it? I did a system restore, to restore the PC to a date earlier, I did this about five times now, but the problem persists.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Danni.

    Hello Danni,

    Thank you for reaching out to us to the Microsoft Community Forum.

    When your computer hangs or freezes, it is disruptive and can slow you down. There are a few reasons your computer might hang, freeze, or crash. Try the following common methods provided for in article below as a first step to solve the problem.

    8.1 Windows, Windows 8 or Windows 7 hangs or freezes

    Note:

    The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Also as you use HP computer, you can try the troubleshooting provided in the link below steps and check if that helps resolve the issue.

    Computer hangs or freezes (Windows 7)

    Note:

    BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Important:

    In case you follow ' step 7 "in the above link from HP that speaks to recover the computer to factory settings then you will need to contact HP support and we also recommend that you back up all important data to an external drive before recovery of the computer to the factory settings.

    Hope that the information provided will help you. Do we know the State of the question, so that we can help you further.

  • OEM usb mouse and usb keyboard Freeze, disconnect automatically w/eject Sound

    I have a 2.5 year old Dell XPS 8300 Windows 7 PC. Mouse usb from the factory and start of keyboard to eject and re - insert (Windows systems "thumb-thump" sounds) and its own without any intervention on my part. Initially it just, just momentarily freezes for a second, but it could be anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours and the same thing happens to 3 or 4 times, and finally and at the same time, the mouse and keyboard freeze. The "cursor" or "pointer" on the screen is totally inadmissible, and seizure keyboard is inadmissible. CTRL + Alt + Delete does not work yet.

    A few points:

    1 there is no drivers for the wired mouse usb and a keyboard wired usb on page download Dell and Driver for XPS 8700.

    2 when I arrived to the Device Manager, it says device keyboard HID and HID - compatible mouse.

    3. There is no drivers to roll back to, and if I update driver for each device, windows tells me I use the latest version of the driver.

    4. I tried a clean install of Windows 7 and it does not solve the problem. (Exaggeration, I know. "I have a lot of time).

    5. I'm tired a clean install of Windows 8.1 and it does not solve the problem. (Again, I know, exaggerated, but I was curious).

    6. in other words, I have exactly the same problem on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

    7. I tried to use all the different USB ports on my PC and the same problem persists. I don't think that it's a problem of USB hardware in any case, given that the freezing of the mouse and the keyboard are occurring simultaneously, and each device has its on usb port.

    8. this problem is new in the last month. Never had anything like this in the last 2.5 years.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi JJ,

    Thank you for your update. Much appreciated!

    Basically, for Windows 8.1, you will need to update the drivers more recent. So, you need to update the drivers for the chipset from the Dell Web site, and if it does not, you may need to contact the manufacturer for updated versions. Also. Please check in the Device Manager and uninstall the drivers of HID devices (under keyboard) and changes in the Update window to do not to install the updated driver. After uninstalling, restart the computer and then install the drivers for the devices and drivers chipset on the manufacturer's Web site. Check if the problem persists.

    Please post back your results for assistance.

    1. Question

    When I opened the window "save the Page under", the drop-down box file name indicates the files that have been saved a long time ago. It is not cleared by a function 'clear history' that I can find. How can I erase this?

    Hello.

    I think this is a related issue of Windows, because it is the Manager to save the windows file that we are talking about here (right?). You should contact Microsoft for help with this one, I think. You expect to be able to delete entries simply by touching delete on your keyboard when they are concentrated (that is how it goes for the removal of the form entries specific autocomplete in Firefox), but I have not tried.

    I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

  • Keyboard freezing on 9.2 ios iPhone, iphone 6

    Well, things were working very well. I've updated to 9.2 a week after its release and the thing were fine until this THAT WEEKEND! Keyboard freezing frequently when typing text messages and doing research. It's driving me crazy. When it freezes, if I continue typing, while the keyboard hangs, 10 seconds later you will see what has been typed. I don't know what the problem is now.

    It seems to turn off the emoji keyboard helped, but not much more.

    Try resetting your device. This will not erase your data stored on that device.

    • Press and hold the sleep/wake button
    • Press and hold the Home button
    • Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.

    Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings

    If that doesn't work, restore your device to factory settings. Please note that this will delete the data on your device.

    Take a look this Apple Support article: use iTunes to restore the iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.

    As a final step, try recovery mode. Turn off your unit, then plug it to your computer with the hold home button. Hold down Home button until you see the logo of iTunes on the screen of your device. After that on your computer, you should see the iTunes window saying that your device needs to be restored to factory settings. Click Restore.

    Lol when you upgrade you send upwards with a license, not two. The license of Vista is subsumed in Windows 7 one and can no longer be used. This is the reason for which an upgrade is cheaper than licensed full.

  • KB915597 cause windows vista to freeze

    KB915597 for Windows Defender update causes Windows Vista to freeze.  At all times, I have to restart my computer for this reason.  And I can't uninstall Windows Defender because it is now integrated into Windows Vista.  In addition, I can not uninstall the update.  If ever I have to reinstall windows again and uncheck automatic updates, so I can make sure that this update is downloaded or simply live with the question until Microsoft fixes it.  Microsoft has released a fix for this error yet?  There is nothing wrong with my laptop because I just erased the hard drive and reinstalled vista.  I actually discovered this by accident because I reinstalled my operating system before but this freeze happening started and I thought it was a problem of Dell Update.
