Compaq Presario C700: Wifi 'local only' Compaq Presario C700

Hi I need a driver updated for Vista so I can use the wifi on my Compaq Presario C700 with a router today (2014)

That is available?

Hello:

If your laptop is an Atheros AR 5007 wireless card, then you must install this driver.

You may need to uninstall the old driver if just this driver installation does not change the date and version of the driver.

Make sure that the wireless switch, if any, is activated for two laptops.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your router > make sure you have the latest Firmware in Vista for it.

  • Atheros / Vista "local only".

Go crazy with this problem of "local only". Hundreds of discussions on this problem. Very few solutions.  My mother's laptop connects via an ethernet cable, but not through the wireless card. (Atheros).  I spent almost 6 hours dealing with this ridiculous problem.  Seriously, WiFi is a facet of base... and if the phones can do things, he should not be so difficult for a computer to do.

    Wireless connection "local only".

too much time invested to leave now... Here is the configuration:

HP dv2500 presario with home premium Vista 64, SP2... can connect to the internet via ethernet, wireless local = only... Network router is Netgear WNR3500L with 5 machines to sp3 of xp connected without problem.

Been to the grinder on this one-darn google redirect everything began, had to shut down the network, reset the router, safe & bring systems up to one at a time running 3 to 6 programs of malware to clean each box...

So I've updated driver, roll back driver, many forums, tried too many things with the same result... Performed system updates to restore, all - same result... Last step was MS support article that I followed step by step without resolution, so I hit the button... got support with regard to the identification number of the product, system would detect not, therefore entered manually & get a message no valid... I can go for $ 49, but just too stubborn to throw good money after bad at this point... You must set up a wireless internet connection in the network as well as the connection sharing normal LAN wireless and connect to it as well as the local connection.  If you don't do this, you will not have an internet connection.  You need both.  You must also enable some features in the main area sharing network to access the internet - they are quite well defined.  If I were you, I remove all wireless Vista machine and set up from scratch.  I would like to even re - install the wireless network card drivers /, firmware or software just to be safe.

  • Problem with Internet access: local only for wireless in Vista

Help, please.  I have a Dell laptop and a Dell desktop computer.  The other day, I pressed WPS on my router Netgear wireless, and since then, my desktop computer (Windows Vista Home Premium SP2) was not able to connect to the Internet.  The office is connected to my router.  My Dell (Win 7 Pro) laptop is able to connect wirelessly to the router and Internet.

    That's what I tried:
    (1) I bought a new wireless router Netgear WNDR4500
    (2) I bought a cutting mini USB wifi adapter for the desktop.  Install the driver.
    (3) reset winsock, ipv4, ipv6, dns
    -netsh int ip reset reset.log
    -netsh winsock reset catalog
    ipconfig/flushdns
    (4) order McAfee firewall
    (5) restarted several times
    (6) persons with disabilities wired and wireless enabled - I get signal green/fort
    (7) off active and wired wireless
None of the above seem to work.  I keep getting 'Access to local only' on both cables and wireless.  When I ping yahoo.com, I get no response.
My laptop, however, works very well in the connection to the wireless router and also to the Internet.
Anything else I can try?  Help, please!

  • No Internet access, the 'Connect to the Local network' and 'Wireless network connection' are "Local only".

I'm portable computer maintenance of the customer, a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5885, under Vista Home Premium x 86 SP2, with infections by malicious software and internet connection problems. I have managed to get rid of all of its 251 infections and I am now addressing the connectivity problem. I'm unable to achieve on its ethernet or a wireless connection to Internet. The two network status of connections 'Unidentified network', and also ' access: Local only ' all other machines hooked up to my router via CAT5e and some via 802.11 g/n, have excellent speeds with internet connectivity, so I know that the problem is limited to his machine. I tried the following:

Deactivation and reactivation of these two connections: FAIL.

"Diagnose and repair" on the two connections: FAIL.

Under dynamic I.P. type to static/static to the dynamic: FAIL.

Uninstalled all network via Device Manager devices, then restart: FAIL.

Manually uninstalled all the drivers and utility and installed the latest versions: FAIL

  • I only 'local only' connection, does anyone know a real solution that works?

    Hello

My computer is a Dell XPS M1330 on Vista.
Recently, I have noticed my wifi says identification or connected only local connection.
Because this came I was not able to connect to any wireless network.
I tried to connect directly via cable ethernet... still the same
Even my 3 G Dongle says the same thing.
The router works well because I use another computer on it, cables etc. all well tested okay with other computers.
The computer worked fine on the router until the router is a D-Link router.
I am pleased that the router is not the problem as all of the other computers and devices connect very well but I tried factory resetting is still no joy.
I tried drvers off installation and reinstallation on the computer, but that networking does not work on wired, wireless or 3 g dongle I suspect something went wrong somewhere with the computer.
Can someone please suggest a solution.
    Concerning

  • Computer connects to the network wireless as "local only".

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2 on a HP Pavilion laptop.  I've never had any problems to connect this machine to a wireless network before, in hotels, at home, or anywhere.  My current home network is a modem - cable-> wireless-> wireless netgear n300 router.  My laptop connects to the internet via the modem cable directly or a wire from the netgear router.  I have a second, almost cell identical (it's intel, while the one who does not is AMD) which connects to the network wireless without any problem.  Two iphones connected wirelessely without any problem.  My HP laptop is the only one who refuses to connect to the internet.  Connected to the wireless network, it has access "local only".

  • HP G60: update for Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g Driver HP G60 local only

    Hi all!

Hoping that someone who has a lot more of an idea about this can help me because I can't really find what I need to fix this!

Basically - I have a computer old enough HP G60 laptop running Windows Vista and using some providers of internet (SKY and Virgin Media) I can connect to the internet, but it only shows Local only. (I don't have this problem when it is connected to BT Openworld is told by the way, not sure of the relevance of this?) I can connect to my wifi with my iPhone without problems, so currently connect to the internet using the USB cable, but it's so slow!

Is it possible to update the Atheros driver for this problem?

Very grateful to anyone who could help me!

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

You probably need to install the updated wireless driver that provides support for WPA2 security.

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=5060881&swItemId=ob_108905_1&swEnvOid=4059#

Check to make sure that the new driver has replaced a former and indicates a date of version 2011.

If she does not, uninstall the device by right clicking on the Atheros wireless card, select uninstall, reboot and install the new driver.

How is it that some machines running windows vista, when the router is updated or changed, they show "limited or local only" when you then reconnect wireless... nothing else was changed on those computers and other devices can connect ok?

    Hello

Each router is assigned to the specific address (called IP address or IP address). And each router maintains its own database (called as base of router) to follow the networking devices communicate with him. When the router is changed, the particular router is unable to detect the device, especially the network card to communicate with the computer.  Since he does not have details of the database of network devices, communicate with him.
