  I have a laptop Compaq Presario CQ50-139wm.  The hard drive has been damaged without repair possible and I put a new hard drive in it, but I have system restore disks.  They are no longer available for purchase.  Anyone know where I can get a set?  The original operating system is Windows Vista.

  I don't see that HP has them.

  It would link to the recovery media to order on the Vista 32 bit laptop driver page.

  But can call HP and ask first. Maybe you can order them by phone and they would cost less ordering them to surgeons in the computer.

  OS: Vista Edition Home Premium

  I reinstalled Vista Home Premium on the computer and now it has no drivers for Ethernet, the math processor controllers and 2 unknown units. I can not turn the wireless, after some googling, I guess that's because it needs the Ethernet drivers on the motherboard first.

  How can I find what motherboard it is and where I can find these drivers?

• Compaq Presario CQ50-110EM power supply issue

  Hello

  I have the laptop above and, recently, it wouldn't boot, I discovered that it was due to a faulty memory.  As I have 2 slots memory (1 GB of RAM in each), I decided to order a new module of memory 2 GB RAM and just use working memory.

  However (I have not yet rceivedthe new RAM) since this problem my laptop is currently not supported.  The adapter does not witness charge LED and when mobile I take out the battery and try to start it just via the adapter it does not.

  After searching for the official HP troubleshooting tips everyone ended up with "you must buy a new adapter" which I ordered now.  However, since she told me it might actually be the power socket on the laptop that is the issue and that it is welded oto the motherboard I had an enormous cost.

  Anyone had the same problems as me?  Might the matter to be able to be linked to the question of memory?  The laptop is only 18 months, and if the memory slot and power went on the motherboard I certainly don't buy Compaq again!

  Problem solved was fortunately just the power adapter.

  Most hardware drivers with regard to laptops, are written specifically for the operating system that they are supplied with. If you have vista, you're going to have a tough go get xp to work. You can try the vista drivers and see if they work. Search drivers xp for the hp product or try the manufacturers website. Don't forget to make your recovery discs before performing any software os installs.

• Compaq presario cq50: Enabling Execute Disable bit

  Since I have a 64-bit processor, I want to do a clean install of Windows 64-bit 10.

  According to this Web page, I have to first enable the Execute Disable bit in the BIOS.

  When you try to do, I couldn't find the option.

  I then looked my processor (Pentium (r) Dual-Core CPU T4300 2.10 GHz) and was directed to this Web page.

  As you can see, the table shows that the Execute Disable Bit feature is provided with this processor.

  After reading this, I went into the BIOS and looked through each menu and submenu and still cannot find the option.

  My current version of BIOS is F.65, which is the latest version of the BIOS for my computer, according to this page for Windows 7 drivers.

  Does anyone know why activate option Execute Disable is not available for me?

  DEP is enabled in your screenshot and is very probably enabled by default in the bios, even if you don't see the setting, you should be good to go.

• Compaq Presario CQ50 daily white screen

  About once a day, I get a white screen (gray or white, usually) while I am using my laptop. It happens more often when I'm on a web page or watching a movie. I have to restart the computer, and then it is usually fine (ie. it won't happen again this day there). Today, what has happened twice, however. It's a bad enough problem for me because this problem tends to happen when I'm testing a presentation or video clips for a conference, and then I have to restart my laptop standing. (I don't know if this information is useful, but the display of the projector that I connect to also be empty when the screen of my laptop turns off). I bought the laptop in 2008, so it is quite old. I checked my card drivers display, and that's all to date. No idea what could be causing the problem? Thank you!

  Yes, there is a point in going more slowly so that your pc supports dual channel.

  Well it depends on the store.  Is they know the problem and have done a lot, then they are more likely to be able to do the repair easily and therefore more responsible, say $100.  If they spend more time on this matter, so as more money.

  I suggest not, just noting.  The F700 series had some areas bad solder on some chips which was easy to fix once they did some of them.
