  I was just wondering if the C700 has an extra slot (PCI, in my view, is the name) for a better GPU integrated. I disassembled my computer and it doesn't seem like there is a lot of room to work with, so I have no idea, frankly.

  Also, I don't know what specific type of C700 I have. Several Web sites name 'C700ET,' 'C700EM', "C700 CTO," etc., but the label on the bottom of my laptop saying simply 'C700'. I don't know if this affects the type of motherboard I have so that you can answer this question.

  In General, it is not possible to upgrade the video (or card) chip in a notebook that the two are physically soldered to the motherboard - there is no PCI Express x 16 slot available you would find in a desktop PC.  If you are looking for your the part No. (see here ) on the serial number on the bottom of your laptop, you can enter it on the link below to access your particular model.

  I have a Compaq Presario SR5518F PC desktop computer.  I plan on upgrading the processor Intel Pentium E up to an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.  I was told before in another thread on the compatibility of processor I need to download the latest update of the BIOS.  I downloaded the update to the BIOS shown on computer SR5518F driver downloads page, but what I want to know is, are there additional updates in addition to that found in the page/downloads of drivers for my S55518F computer?

  No RAM, but you would like to install a better processor, too. Look at the manual for CPU options. They will be pretty inexpensive at this stage. You should also another radiator/heater unit to work with the different video chip. But it adapts to your chassis. The only way to look at this case if you do your own work. Otherwise, the cost will approach the price of a new laptop computer. Even do your own work that you will probably have to spend more than $150.

• Compaq Presario CQ56-112SA: updated the Chipset drivers

  I had a "sleep mode" problem with my laptop recently in that, if I select 'sleep' the laptop screen goes black, the fan continues to run and doesn't wake up with the keyboard or the mouse. I then turn off and turn on then and Notepad opens in "Windows Error Recovery".

  It was suggested that I should update the chipset drivers as a possible solution.

  Are there risks in doing this?

  You can also run the auto detects a software and see if amd draws a different driver and try this one first.

  Risk to install guide are that driver not install, or if it's the operating system does not start on reboot.

  Can't tell you what would be the chances of something bad happening.  I would say not very high.  But if your luck is like mine, then...

  Another problem could be the graphics driver.  You may want to reinstall that where some files display driver got screwed up over time.

Waar kan ik of originele drivers vinden die ik misschien nog wel zou like naked downloaden? of is het dat ik die Roken updated avenues doe site bedrijf op na het invoeren van mijn serienummer in het vinden van laptop etc. IK wil het Roken principled is als ik alleen updates of dat originele doe drivers nog van service worden gedownload.   I turned off laptop and you press F2.  I am running a test drive, the first version short then long.

  What are my next steps?

  The error message indicates that there is nothing to start, it means that an operating system is not installed, or the MBR is corrupted, that is not your case. The hard drive is ok, but you must restore the system using the recovery disks, you got.

  It's simple, change the startup option in the BIOS to CD/DVD-ROM as the first one (press ESC on startup, press F10), then you can insert the No. 1 disc in the optical drive recovery. Save the settings of the BIOS (reboot), then follow the instructions (click on factory reset). It worked for me that way...

  I have this old laptop that I use constantly up to now I have had NO problem/s which so than ever, except it requires upgrading memory, since it had 256 MB of memory when I bought it... I decided to update my ram at least 1 GB for my laptop to be more or less at par to the current requirements of modern software... Now my question is concerning the ram compatibility, I just wanted to ensure that the Rams are compatible since RAM DDR1 SODIMM are quite expensive compared to their DDR2 and DDR3 variants and once the Rams are purchased cannot be returned... more than info posted below...

  2. If these Rams are compatible should I expect (1module) 1 gb ddr400 or (2modules) 512 mb ddr400 RAM to achieve a system of 1 GB of ram?

  3. I know it sucks but where I am from RAM DDR1 SODIMM are kindda rare and very hard to find.

  It's showing that this notebook can take up to 2 GB of memory (2 x 1 GB PC-2700 memory).

  I don't know what to tell you. If it was me, I would buy only a single chip of 1 GB at a time to make sure it worked.

  First time here...

  Compaq Presario Notebook Win7 32-bit - 4 GB DDR2, aged about 3 years?

  A customer brought this with virus / malware issues - arranged.

  On start-up, the bios made regular account that the HP OEM battery must renew. Not difficult technical question here.

  Powered on the laptop without the battery and the pc has stopped completely after a few seconds.  No beeps, no LED. Suspecting power, the original showed 19.* * volts. Ok.

  Bidirectional p - s for another check the jack plug connection. No change, tried jumping jack plug connection.

  Out two-way RAM for good, no change.
  Two-way 2032 battery of the bios for good, not change.
  Removed HARD drive, no change.

  Non-powered from DC or battery, depressed and button who was held for at least a minute, without change.

  The bios battery removed for 30 minutes, without change.

  Fan do not get stuck.

  No attached devices.

  Remarkable:

  Without battery : white DC power LED stays on for about 5 seconds. And then off.

  Old battery included: white DC power LED does not illuminate.

  I did not remove the optical drive, because I think it's ok. Works fine (or used to).

  I am familiar with this series of Presario laptops / laptops and while I have tried everything I know, I was wondering if, before I have conviction as having a short-circuit motherboard / failure, is there anything else I can try with this model of HP laptop before I am progressing with the send for repair of component.

  With everything else has been tried, it does seem to be a hardware problem at the moment. It is more than likely isolated pay-per-view system, based on the symptoms. I'm sorry.

  Before you go out and buy little RAM to upgrade this aging laptop, I wondered how much RAM the system supports. I did some research on Google and find that some sources indicate 4 GB max, while others say 2GB maximum. I always imagined that it was a 2 GB max, but according to the following HP site it says 4 GB. If it's 4 GB I go and buy 2x2gb sticks otherwise will have 2x1GB sticks. Did anyone done this before?

  See Chapter 1, page 3.

  Because your model has the AMD processor, you can install 2 x 2 GB of memory (4 GB) PC2-6400.

  The manual says PC2-5300, but I know for a fact that the chipset can run at 800 MHz memory, so you can get the speed of the memory too much.

  And even if it isn't, the memory PC2-6400 will just downclock to 667 MHz, so you have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

  I have the same chipset in my dv6810us and I swapped memory 2 x 2 GB PC2 - 6400 and mine runs at 800 MHz.  I have the processor Turion TL-60.

  Cheaper place to buy memory, IMO and here are my recommendations, FWIW.
