Compatible SATA III or not

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion 2305sq g6 and I would like to know if it is compatible with SATA 3 SSD.

Thank you!

Hello

Looking at the specifications Page for your laptop, it has an Intel HM76 Express Chipset that supports Sata III (6 Gb/s) speed.

Kind regards

    Normal for this machine?

    Hello

I didn't disagree with that because SATA III is backward compatible. Yes, you can not get the SATA III speed, but you can see a huge improvement especially start & stop time, copy files, photoshop... compared to a normal 7200 tr / MIN HARD drive.

    Kind regards.

  • -What is my w500 compatible Sata III 6 gb/s?

I want to upgrade my hard drive to an SSD for my main drive on my w500. I have a dual processor 2.8 ghz with 8 GB of ram, a second massive hard drive, and think to upgrade my main drive for the OCZ sata III capable of 550/500 read write speeds would be amazing, if its 6 gb/s.

Or am I limited to only sata II? Which would be much cheaper?

You are limited to SATA II.

  • G3 G3 250 HP (J4T62EA): 250 HP (J4T62EA) - compatible SATA III upgrade, SSD

    Hello world

I bought G3 250 HP laptop (jJ4T62EA). I have a question about the SATA 3.0 interface. I want to change my Samsung 850 EVO SSD 250 GB HARD disk drive. My laptop does support SATA 3.0 to 6.0 Gbps? Thanks for your help.

    Hello again!

I got SSD already, so I checked that my laptop supports SATA III. Magician of Samsung, which is a dedicated software for the Samsung SSD drives shows that everthing is working at full speed on SATA III (6 Gbps). In conclusion, if you have a G3 250 HP (J4T62EA), you can improve it without loss of performance associated with the SATA interface. If you want I can put here results of benchmarks on next week.

  • Dv6 - 6153cl supports hard drives SATA III?

I have a problem with my laptop and I think I've narrowed the problem down to the HARD drive. I want to replace and update, but I don't know what drives can I use.

I would like to know if I can install a SATA III HARD disk in my computer laptop dv6 - 6153cl. From what I can tell, it currently has an installed SATA II HDD. Can I switch from SATA III or am I stuck with SATA II?

Download the SATA-III. Even if the motherboard supports only SATA-II (not true in your case), you can use the SATA-III drives. SATA is fully backward compatible. But, yet again, your motherboard HM65 chipset that supports support SATA-III. A good rule of thumb is that if it has USB 3.0 is also SATA-III. Not 100% true but terribly close to true.

  • The HP ENVY 17-j120us there sata iii?

I think to put the HP ENVY 17-j120us and could not find if it is SATA-III or not, and if it comes with a quad core. I read that some lower Core i7 comes with core duo.

On another note. My HP EliteBook 8730w is SATA-II and I use an Intel SSD 520, which is capable of SATA III, someone knows it if I can wipe my SSD, then paste it into the new laptop and have it clocked at SATA-III? Is it that simple? Note also that I have the system of operating full W7, so no problem on this end.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I found a review for this laptop, so I don't know the specs. The first SATA III support for HP laptops are series Dv6-6000, Sandy Bridge, which is the second generation of Intel processors. It starts with Core iX-2XXX. Means that your laptop is certainly a SATA II one. I got it so I know for sure.

  • What type of SSD (2.5 "SATA III or mSATA) is compatible with my Studio XPS 1640?

    Greetings.

I'm looking to update / replace the original hard drive in my Studio XPS 1640.  I decided on a SSD Samsung 1 TB 850 Evo, but - without opening to the top of my laptop an extra time - I don't know which format is compatible: the 2.5 "SATA III or the mSATA?  I will very happy if someone can tell me which of these SSDS work with my laptop.

You need a reader 2.5 "SATA - there is no support for type mSATA or readers PCIe card in this system.

The SATA controller is 3G, so you will not see the full implementation of a SATA 6 G - you'll get only half of that can support the disk - but a SATA SSD will work with the system.

The system is designed for a 9.5 mm hard drive - you'll need a spacer to mount a 7 mm SSD (some readers from Samsung and Crucial include;  If yours is not that they are just a few dollars).

  • Satellite L50-A-19N - HARD disk controller is not compatible SATA 3

    Hello.

    I have a model of L50-a-19n satellite.
The hard drive it is HGST Travelstar 5 K 1000 750 GB, SATA 6 Gbps (HTS541075A9E680/0J22412).

On Web site of the manufacturer and as Aida64 diagnostic software the hard drive is named SATA-III 600 MB/s.

But when I run the Crystaldiskinfo software or simillar, it is said that the taken and current transfer mode supported SATA/300.
    Why is it like that?

Is this some sort of software limmitation?
In the Bios, I turned on the performance mode.

HARD drive supports SATA 6 Gbit/s, but the portable controller is probably limited to SATA II (3 Gb/s)

If the HARD disk controller does not support SATA III, HARD drive performance will be limited.

  • [Y550] New HDD SATA III. Is it compatible?

    Hello.

I want to know if I can change my original WD hdd (I'm preety sure it's SATA I), again SATA III? I don't know if the motherboard will be compatible with SATA III. What do you think?

And by the way, what model of motherboard is in it? Unfortunately, my serial number fail to pass on the support site, so I can't check the configuration it (and my HARD drive is broken, so I can't use the software to check it out).

And the third question: will there be any signs of change if I Exchange my hdd SATA III. I don't know if it is important in Y550.

Thanks for all your responses in advance.

    See you soon,.

    Peter.

    Hello
    Welcome to the forums
In the y550 sata port is sata 2. If the disk sata hard 3 would also go to sata 2 speed. This is common for all models y550
If you know the configuration of your computer, you can view the psref removed systems and it corresponds with the model No.
    http://www.Lenovo.com/PSREF/psrefs_withdrawn.html
The sata 2 would be faster than the sata 1 and that means faster data transfers.

    Hi again,

Your laptop supports SATA III Solid State Drives. I suggest Samsung Pro or Evo products. Here's the top of the line and even for a decent price.

  • Intel Rapid Storage Mgr does not see my SATA III Drives

I was wondering if my BIOS settings are wrong. I have two SATA III (6 GB/s) plugged into the appropriate Sockets. Motherboard ASUS P8P67 B3. Readers appear in Explorer but in the Intel Rapid Storage Mgr, ports are empty. How will I know that I get max performance of these drives?

Leave the controller in raid mode. Provides the same functionality as AHCI and you can change to raid later if you choose.

  • HP ProBook s 4740: HP ProBook 4740 s SATA III support

Hello, I would like to upgrade my laptop with a Crucial SSD BX200 hard disk that uses the SATA III interface. Can I use HDD connected (also SATA III) as capacity of extra strorage using EVOLVEO DF127 instead of the CD player? If so, SATA III HARD disc will be compatible with SATA CD drive interface?

    Thanks for the reply

Do not try to put a SSD in an optical interface. It will slow down and will not be bootable. You can put the SSD into the hard drive slot and put the HARD drive in the optical Bay. The HARD drive will be slowed down a bit but still good for storage. It is the way to do it. Do not worry about SATA-II vs SATA-III the SSDS works still fine.
