  I have for the usb drive that you suggested, and it happened today however it does not resolve the difficulty, even if the product is satisfactory. Consults with the HP support has finally confirmed that the provided HP recovery media software does not work with Win 8.1Pro with media library.

  So, in a way, the problem is solved by default... I used successfully in place of Windows Recovery Media Creator.

  Don't know what's happening, you do not give a lot of information, but if you have the constant beachballing (spinning wait cursor), which could mean that the hard drive is dying.

  Open Console.app in Applications > utilities. Filter, called "String Matching," right, high enter "I/o" without the quotes. What happens when you do this?

  According to the Intel page http://ark.intel.com/products/27255/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T7200 this processor supports 64-bit architecture
  So you shouldn't have trouble to install a 64-bit system

  1. in the Device Manager, right-click on current monitor and select update
  2 say that you have a disk

  I recently bought a HP Pavilion p6523w & it's OS is Windows 7.  My XP (my Checkwriter) compatible software does not work on the new computer.  I get the following error message:

  

  The editor recommended that the access of the exe, go properties & on the Compatibility tab click on the version of Windows the software initially ran under.  I did it (including all available options of XP - that is. Service pack 2, etc.) and the software still does not work.

  What else can I try?  I had not thought about all my incompatible software on the new computer and can not afford a costly upgrade to solve problems (just try to install this software about me freaked out...).  Anyone have any ideas on how to work around to through this?

  I had a problem with Windows 8...  Problem started after several requests of "upgrading to Windows 8.1, I succumbed.  Windows 8.1 was not compatible with my hard drive.  Screen kept flickering.  MS supports finally told me that there is an incompatibility problem.  We have restored the Win 8.  They have me do not upgrade.  But never told me how to avoid invitations.  The problem is finally updated on its own and now after wiping everything 3 times and reinstall my software, I tried to go into the control panel to find where I can disable the automatic upgrade.

  The problem I have now is I can't have in Control Panel or the search function.  Whenever I click on it, a screen appears, and then closes and I'll be back on the desktop.

  My questions:

  How can I fix the problem where the control panel automatically closes?  Can it be done without reinstalling Win 8 for the 4th time?

  Assuming I'm correct, how can I prevent the automatic upgrade to 8.1 Win forever?

  It would have been nice if MS had designed the upgrade to first check the computer to see if she had all the necessary drivers and was otherwise compatible with 8.1 and then if not to prevent the upgrade.  It would have saved me countless hours to deal with this problem.  I'll think twice before getting a computer with windows again.

  If you are not running this time then Windows 8.1 is not the reason why the Panel closes.  This type of problem is almost always a virus or malware, but can also be caused by other programs that are in conflict.  So I'd start first by asking, you run 8.0 at this time?  If so, the closing Control Panel problem is due to corruption or an infection.   I don't understand what he was trying to tell me.  The fact that the software is not proven on Win 7.

  It was just the arrogance of the man and his supervisor, the fact that he made a blatant mistake and that it would not be to acknowedge and the fact that they manipulated obviously 23 calls at the same time.  So I was being treated as a sufficient enough.

  I had great support people help me and they are worth every penny.  I wouldn't feed this Turkey.
