  It is not possible to use the database to a version of the software in another. The master database has components based on the version you purchase. It is possible for you to place the components (to the exclusion of the lively and nonparametric) on your design in version 10 and open the drawing in version 11 or 12 and save them to your user database. To save, right click on the component, and then select Save the database component.

  You may not create a database in SQL Server using the control panel ODBC or a UDL. You must create a database by using SQL Server tools.   As Robert said, don't use SID, use SERVICE_NAME.

  When we try to upgrade of database 10.2.0.1.0 to 10.2.0.5.0 on Linux x 86. Unfortunately, we have two or three table spaces are read-only mode. The dbua compiled by saying that he is not able to resize read only tablespace. So we used manual upgrade using catupgrd.sql. Before running the catupgrd.sql that we tried to change playback that in none of them only worked in the line/ofline watch still read only. After upgrade we noticed some components are not valid are

  Yes the catupgrd.sql is re-courable.

  Please read carefully the README, in chapter manually upgrading a 10.2 database that the main steps are:

  -Start of the database in UPGRADE mode.

  -Run utlu102i.sql in order to check the database before the upgrade.

  -Run the catupgrd.sql.

  -Check the patch.log error file and inspect the components list that is displayed at the end of the catupgrd.sql script. This list gives the version and State of each SERVER component in the database.

  -If necessary, rerun the script catupgrd.sql after correction of problems.

  -etc...

  You will have many tips of the README, and it is essential to follow.

  Of course, before doing anything, it is important to get a good backup of the database.

  I have a system which consists of a master database and a bunch of materialized view sites homogeneous. 10.2.0.4 all around. Main server is Windows Server 2003. all remote nodes are Windows XP. All materialized views are editable. There are only 20 or two tables (materialized views). Users enter data in the system at the level of the remote nodes via an application.
  
  There are data integrity constraints in the database on the main site. In the hunt for replication errors, I discovered that the integrity constraints do not exist in the context of the remote node. Then, sometimes, that users can enter data not valid that main site integrity constraints disallow, producing errors of replication on the master site. For a test I then implemented manually some of the constraints on a remote node using the java Enterprise Manager UI. Constraints have behaved as expected, as far as I can tell.
  
  My ultimate goal is to implement, on all sites of the materialized view, the current constraints of the integrity of the main site, so that entering data at remote sites is governed by the integrity constraints.
  
  I looked briefly package DBMS_REPCAT subprograms. Nothing jumped out at me.
  
  I started to collect the DDL (ALTER TABLE... ADD CONSTRAINT...) I could run each site through SQL * more sheet calculation.
  
  Then I thought that maybe I could use sqldeveloper to run the DDL but when I open the relevant schema to the level of the remote nodes, the actual tables are not shown, only the USLOG$ _... things. Materialized views are shown - but they do not have a constraints tab.
  
  After some time in the manuals, I decided that I have a good knowledge of what I see; and that's why I'm not sure I'm running in the right direction.
  
  I will summarize two questions:
  
  (1) what is the best way for me to apply constraints of integrity of the master site existing in materialized views can be changed on all nodes?
  
  (2) why I can see and work on the tables on the remote nodes via the EM java, but don't can't see them via sqldeveloper, logged in with the same account twice?
  
  P.S. It is possible for me to delete and re-create all databases and the views materialized on all remote nodes.   you are right THAT FK on mviews can cause many problems during refresh. I mentioned on delete cascade, but delete the null value or remove restricted can cause problem too. You cannot complete with active reftesh FK referencing MV PK.

  Because you cannot control the mviews refresh a refresh Group, that the problems I described before can occur.
  You have to my view of these possibilities:
  1 / move Ref. integrity check from the DB to the logic of the application
  2 / use triggers to maintain ref.integrity check DB
  3 / mutlimaster user instead of mviews replication

  But none of them have their more and less.
  1 / + FK is checked - take some time, any other manipulation of data through the application can break rules FK
  2 / + FK is cheked on DB level - you write triggers, lower performance, changing disorders tables
  3 / + FK is chedked at the DB level, - all the data is replicated on the table plan (for MV, you can define where cluase for replication mutlimaster not), with more than two masters, it is difficult to define the replication conflict resolition method that convert in the last time.

  Hi Dave,.

  The other possibility is that Multisim uses a prefix of RefDes default for new components. This default value is set by the family, so depending on where you have stored the component in your user database, you can get a different default RefDes prefix.

  You can change the default value for the whole family:

  1. go to tools > database > database manager

  2. Select the tab of the family

  3. in the family tree, find and select the family where you saved the component.

  4. change the default prefix to be Q.

  5. click on close

  Now when you place the component, the RefDes must begin with Q.

• Could not find LM238 regulator of tension in Multisim

  I am new to Multisim.  I can't find a LM238 voltage regulator in the library under sources power supply voltage regulators.  In fact, I did a general search and could not find anywhere.  What is usually done in a case like this?  My intuition tells me that I wouldn't need to redraw my circuit just because I can't find a component in Multisim.

  We don't have a model for the LM238, but we have a model for the LM138. According to this data sheet, the LM138, the LM238 and the LM338 are identical with the exception of the beaches of operating temperatures. You can place a component LM138 to the master database and use it for the simulationand implementation.

  There is not a database with .sym files. However, you can take one of the symbols of control of databases and modify (if needed). Use the Component Wizard in Multisim to create your Schottky diode custom, when Multisim asks that you to the symbol information select copy of DB; in the Master database access Group of Diodes, Family SCHOTTKY_DIODE and select the most appropriate symbol, click OK. If you need to change this symbol just click change to open the symbol editor.
