Compress/decompress

Is it possible to decompress a value using zlib in a procedure?

How?

Kind regards

Carlos

With plsql, everything is possible, for example see this old blog post from my friends: https://technology.amis.nl/2010/03/13/utl_compress-gzip-and-zlib/

    Hello

No, this is not normal. What version of Winzip are you using?

IIRC, nothing, until Winzip version 9 (Patchlevel 1?) cannot you create zipfiles to/use more than 2 GB in size.

Your archives are larger than that?

    Hi all:

Is the Compress/decompress utility file supported by all types of Windows OS (XP, VISTA, Windows 7)? or for some region the user install it?

Any link from the website of Microsoft?

I managed to get the guide from the Microsoft web site, but just a guide without a show of declaration of default installation during installation of the operating system.

    Hello

Compress and decompress are not a separate tool/utility to download and install in the computer. They have functions that come with these 3 operating systems. These features are available in Windows XP/Vista/7 from across operating systems.

However, you can also use your favorite search engine for non-Microsoft applications to compress and extract files such as Winzip and Winrar.

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

    It will be useful.

Don't know much more instructions should be required for all Windows XP operating system or later during extraction of a standard ZIP file on a system that did not have installed third-party applications that might have taken the extraction/treatment of the BONE ZIP files.

Zip (compression) of files and folders

Right click on a file or a folder with many files it contains, point to send to, and then select the compressed file (zipped file).

Windows Vista will compress (zip) the file or folder and save the new file zipped in the same place as the original file.

    Unzip (unzip) files and folders

You can unzip a file in several different ways.

    Double-click the zipped file

To decompress a file, the easiest method is to double-click it. It will open a window with the contents of zipped files. You can click on extract all files or drag the files from the window to the desired location (example: office).

If you choose to click on extract all files, the files are extracts (uncompressed) in the same location as the original file, unless you specify a location in the Destination box, and extract the files that appears when you choose to extract them.

    Right-click on the zipped file

Right click on the zip file and select extract all. The Select a Destination window will open and extract files and you can choose if you want to save the files in the same location as the original file, or you can choose where you want to save the unzipped files by clicking Browse and choose a new location.

Personally, I download, install and use 7-Zip for all needs in my compression/decompression (in general).

  • I have a problem with file compression and then not be able to extract their share at a later date

    original title: file compression

I am running Vista Home Premium on my laptop. I have problems with file compression and then not be able to extract their share at a later date. For example, I sent a file compressed to my instructor and she pointed out that she had a .zipx extension and the fact that she was unable to extract the files of ranking. Can someone help me with this problem?

    Hello

    1. do you have a third party compression/extraction of software installed on your machine?
    2. do you get an error message when you try to extract the files?
    3. is the relevant question for the particular file type?
    4. don't you make changes to your computer before the problem?

Follow the steps and check if they help.

    Step 1:

Open zip files is to open the folder and drag the content to another folder.

    See article:
Compress and uncompress files (zip files)

    Step 2:

If you have a third party software to Compress/decompress, I'd Uninstall it employs the way Windows compression and decompression of files/folders and see if they help.

  • cannot decompress the downloaded files

Can not find a way to decompress the downloaded files.  Watching several video tutorials on YouTube, but my options are not the option "extract files".  What's wrong?

What are the file types of the zipped files you are trying to extract (the extension to three digits after the name of the file)?  Compression not all types are managed by Vista (or other programs) - some require special proprietary software or work only with some compression software.

Here are two articles on the implementation of compression in Vista right click: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/65254-zip-file-support-restore.html and http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/93827-zip-file-compressed-folders.html. These articles should tell you how to activate and deactivate the compaction and reset Vista compression options so you can extract the files.

If you can not get Vista compression/decompression works correctly despite these instructions, you can simply try to download and install 7-Zip http://www.7-zip.org/ which provides essentially the same functionality in a free and easy to use program.  Many people use this program (or other similar) instead of Vista program for various reasons.  You can do this if only as a workaround until we get Vista programs work correctly on your system.

    I hope this helps.

  • Compression & CISCO VPN Client

    Hello

I'm trying to understand if the compression is available using a 5.x CISCO VPN client to a device of CISCO (ASA, 871 etc..)

Our site has recently moved from dial-in Windows, where compression is enabled, and we noticed the CISCO client show 'no compression '.

    Thank you

This URL describes how to configure the compression on the SAA.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/vpn_client/cisco_vpn_client/vpn_client500_501/administration/5vcAch3.html

Compression can be configured as a parameter within the crypto ipsec transport-set in the IOS.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/customer/docs/iOS/Security/command/reference/sec_c3.html#wp1057372

Compression/decompression takes a toll hitting on the resources of the Cisco device if it lacks a hardware dedicated for these functions. You may want to limit its use to only where this is necessary for the remote access clients.

    >
That's pretty much what you should expect when you write code that has absolutely NO verification errors or parameter control at all.

GIGO - Garbage In, Garbage Out.

Your compression method uses an array of bytes for a parameter. This byte array can be any legal size.

Then you HARD-CODE the size of the byte array target/tablet to 2 million bytes. You want to keep only the fingers crossed that the compressed size will fall into this buffer. And your method does not check for errors.

What makes you think that an array of bytes in the entry that is 1 GB in size will compress in 2 million bytes?

Then you make similar assumptions for the method to decompress; you ASSUME that the decompressed data size will be no more than three times the compressed size.

    int compressionFactorMaxLikely = 3;
    int bufferSizeInBytes = numberOfBytesToDecompress * compressionFactorMaxLikely;
    byte[] bytesDecompressed = new byte[bufferSizeInBytes];

And you already know what's going to happen if your assumtions are wrong.

If you want to learn how to write good code you can not make any assumptions as you do. If you make assumptions, you need to add code to validate that your assumptions are correct, check the length of the tables being passed and add the error handling so that you know when things are bad.

The foregoing would be bad enough, but the biggest mistake you do is reinvent the wheel. You write custom code to implement features that Java already provides for you.

The best solution to your problem is to simply create a zip file standard of your entry. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS start with the simplest solution that meets your needs.

    A solution of zip files:

    1. the uses out of the box functionality Java – you have to write code that interacts with the API classes
    2. you can read/write the files of any arbitrary size without having to allocate buffers of unknown size.
    3. has a very minimal overhead in the zip file for the central directory structure of input data that are necessary for a single file and zip.
4 makes it easy to inspect the contents of the zip file, because the file can be opened with ANY zip utility.
    5. makes it easy test read and write functionality separately. Just use Winzip or another utility to create a zip of an example of BMP file and then test your code to see if you can decompress.
    6. you can only work with the flow of input/output instead of arrays of bytes.

I suggest abandon you your current approach and implement a read/write zip utility that interfaces with your BMP files you need. Only if that is not your needs in the long run you must use a custom approach.

There are many simple examples on the web that show how to create, read and write zip using Java files. And here are two:

  • Space filling without reason for memory/hard disk

I am working with a large file MS Word (currently, it is great close to 1 GB) and every time I use the file or open it in preview, my computer crashes, slows down, and the amount of disk space hard be used rapidly decreases.  I started with 10 + GB of free space, now I'm less than 2 and get the computer error messages telling me that my hard drive is almost full.  I do not know how to find the files that are clearly in place so I can delete them.  Display hidden files did not reveal anything.  It got to the point where I can open is no longer the large file the computer tells me that the file is damaged.  Reboot does not restore the lack of available disk space.  I am at my wit's end and that you have already removed many other video files and photo I can to free up space.  If not for this problem, I'm sure I'd have at least 20 GB of free space now.  What I can do to understand where space and eliminate permanently?  I need at least another hour to continue working on this issue!

Starting with the system will create a swap file at least as large as the file being opened. If changes are made then these files will usually stick around as auto-enregistre until the file itself is saved or closed. It is also possible that the large file pushes the other system processes in virtual memory on the disk. That said, unless there are compression/decompression funky stuff going on that I can't imagine a 1 GB file to consume more than 10 GB in "temporary" resources

I would like to check the status of the Application ~/Library/Caches/ and ~/Library/Saved / for the missing hard drive space (you may need to use the GoTo option in the Finder).

Usually nothing deleted in the above locations will be automatically recreated when you next run of the corresponding application, but clearing out rarely used application files could release (temporarily) a little extra space. Destruction can also solve problems of application-specific file corruption.

Otherwise double check that you remembered to empty the trash.

  • Windows 10 bootcamp on external support.

    Hello

I am currently studying a master's degree in engineering at the University, and it becomes increasingly imperative that I have a stable OS of Windows that will run the likes of AutoDesk Inventor on my system. However, I'm not really happy to have the cancerous BONE on my system disk.

    My system features;

    • MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid-2015, retina), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 500 GB SSD, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4).

I have a legitimate copy of Windows 10 install through bootcamp (I have absolutely no interest in the use of Parallels, or any software emulation/VM floating BONE on the core of OS X system), and have all the drivers seated on a USB key.

What I really want to do, is create a boot volume on an external hard drive (similar to the creation of a Virgin encrypted volume in "Disk utility"), install the OS and take over the entire image for volume on the outside.

The way I see it, the volume becomes active when I open the DMG file in the OS, but then the volume remains active as long as the hard drive is connected to the laptop, which means that I initialize the volume while under OS X and reboot the system, then choosing the volume as disk bootable, so pulling on Windows as the active operating system running from an external drive and seen in as a construction in HARD DRIVE disk utility.

Someone at - he already tried this? I'm looking to go forward and start on this subject, however to install the operating system takes an absolute age and I'm not really want to go through the full process of reverse it then should windows seem reluctant to move.

    Thank you in advance,

    Kind regards

    Niall

    1. your Windows license does allow no external boot. Windows-to-go is part of Windows Enterprise, which is not officially supported.

    2. you can not USB/FW, but you can try an external drive Thunderbolt as a Windows destination.

    3. you don't want to compress the Windows installation by using any utility OS X. Envisagez native NTFS compression, which requires processor to Compress/decompress cycles.

    4. you can also consider solutions like Winclone to clone an internal installation is installed on an external drive of cloning.

    Hi dalgard,.

Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

You have Winzip or any other compression software installed (WinRAR) files?  These third-party file compression software will most likely disable the Compress/decompress files zip on Vista.  If you have them, remove the software should allow you to have the option again.
