Compromised user account? [Avast passwords]

Hello! I was recently alerted by Avast passwords that it accounts Adobe have been compromised and I need to change my password... Is this true? What continues?

[As published for the clarity of the question and the future forum search... MOD]

If you use a password manager and your passwords are kept on their site instead of on your computer, it's a question that you need to discuss with the company password... as you say the view was of Avast and not Adobe

  • How to remove the user account with password, start menu

I got this laptop from my dads boss and there are two accounts of users per password and I don't know what they are, is it possible to remove them? because I can not get on the phone to use with these passwords there.

At this point your best approach would be to reinstall Windows on this machine.  When you start the machine, search for a key, press the first splash screen OEM that could be labelled 'System Recovery' and [quickly] press this button.

If you do not have what you need to reinstall windows, contact the manufacturer for a set of installation floppies or try some of the suggestions contained in the articles referred to in the following article (which is on the news only that we're allowed to talk in this Microsoft forum taken supported)

How can I know that to fix this if I use this thing? One of its 9 lives is in danger! Also-how can I get rid of any sign in stuff?

    badkitten parent

    Peacelily,

I'd love to connect to eliminate the account - except - I don't know what password etc, she managed to get his hands on & with TI - I'm dead in the water! After more than 12 hours of frustration in dealing with this - including HP support - I got it. Taken technology to throw the whole system and start again. Good enough for a computer bought Wednesday am & dumped Fri! The kitten is fine - my mood is painfully tense. I would put him in the House of the dog with the exception of this factor formidable "kindness". Guess I'll call the problem solved

  • How to reset the password forgot Windows user account

I need Toshiba password reset! How can I reset Toshiba laptop? I know you if you help me Toshiba password recovery, etc. Well well, so often to address these issues in our lives. Today, we share a few ways to reset the password of Toshiba.

Solution1: Toshiba recovery disks help reset lost password

It only works if we have created the CD or recovery discs before that we have forgotten the password. The next appearing is the steps to reset the Toshiba Windows 7 recovery disk:
    a. start the PC, log on to Windows 7 and insert a USB flash drive in the driver.
    b. start-> Control Panel-> user accounts and of the safety of the family->-> create a user accounts password reset disk.
    c. in the Welcome screen click Next and select the inserted USB, click Next.
    d. Enter the password in the password field and click Next. When the progress indicator displays 100% complete, click Finish to exit. Remove the driver USB of PC.
The method is similar to create a Toshiba restore CD. Now the password of Toshiba Windows 7 recovery disk is ok. Put it in a safe place for people can use to reset your password.
Steps to recover the password with the created password reset disk Toshiba:
    e. click on reset password in Windows 7 logon window.
    f. Insert the USB Toshiba Recovery disk created in the USB driver interface, and then click Reset password' to open the password reset Wizard. Click next to continue.
    g. Choose this Toshiba USB drive recovery in the drop-down list. Click next to continue.
    h. enter a new password and re-enter a second time to confirm. Click next and finish to close the wizard.

Option2: Reset Toshiba laptop for accounts with administrator rights

If there is default or built-in Administrator account or other accounts with rights and administrator privileges, we can use it to Toshiba bypass password. Take example of Toshiba XP Recovery:
System A. Boot mode safe mode by pressing F8 when PC stars.
    B. PC access by the available account with administrator rights and of privileges.
    C. start - users and groups lusrmgr.msc in the search ENTRY - local users and groups - box choose users.
    D. make a right-click the account with password unlocked, select set the password and enter and confirm the new password.

Solution3: Toshiba Reset password with the ISO image file burn

We can burn .iso on a bootable USB stick or a CD/DVD disc image file and reset the forgotten password quickly and easily. Take one of the most popular tool to reset the Windows Ainorsoft Windows Password Recovery password as an example:
    a. download the program from an accessible PC;
    b. burn the file .iso on a blank CD/DVD or USB drive.
    c. work around the lost password of Toshiba with the CD/DVD on the PC locked.

Things will be difficult if we know the methods of Toshiba pass reset once we forgot password for Toshiba laptop! Be sure to share them with your friends!

Thanks for sharing this, but we always talk about password of Toshiba, it won't and I think this might be a bit confusing, it is of a workaround for the windows user account password.

As much as I know there is no password defined by Toshiba.

The user can define the user account password in windows if necessary so that this workaround solution describes how to remove a user account Windows password that is common to all computers with the preinstalled Windows operating system.

    However, thanks for posting ;)

  • I would like to change the password of a standard user account.

original title: change password in Windows 7

I would like to change the password of a standard user account. Windows 7 tells me that if I do that some data may be lost. What data, specifically, I lose if I proceed?

    I solved the problem.

Initially, I tried to reset the password using computer management > local users and groups > set password. However when I tried Control Panel > user accounts > manage user accounts > reset password I was able to change it without any error message. I guess there is a difference between 'set password' and 'reset password '.
    Thank you
  • When I try to share files between two computers Windows XP with SP3, I'm invited for a user name and password on both.

I set up a home network with 2 computers with XP Media Center 2002 SP3 1 and 1 with XP Home SP3 2002 can see computers on the network and the Ping works. But I wonder a user name and password. seems to come from the computer. Do not see documents shared to the Media Center computer.

    original title: file sharing problems.

As far as I can remember, Media Center is XP Pro with additional multimedia functions.  What follows is a very old post by MS MVP Malke, but the Council is still sound:

    File sharing / print

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below).

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus with "Internet Worm Protection" (like Norton 2006/07) which acts as a firewall, you're fine. With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this. The instructions on this link work for XP and Vista:

Configure Windows to login automatically (MVP Ramesh) -.

    http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.

    Hello

    ·        What are the updates that you have installed on the computer once you have met the question (number of KB updates)?

Click on the below link to check what are the updates must be installed on the system and manually install the updates one after you download it from the Microsoft Web site. In other words instead of automatic updates, I suggest to download the updates manually from the Microsoft site and then reinstall one by one and check what update is causing this issue and let us know the number of KB.

  • See the Vista XP user account.

Have a desktop with Windows XP Home Edition, laptop with Windows Vista.  All computers have identical user accounts and passwords.  The machine recorded XP user can see his username and the files on the Vista machine.  However, the machine recorded Vista the user can't see the files on the XP machine and its user account.  Network discovery is turned on, turned on file sharing, public folder sharing is enabled, password protected sharing is on.  Shared folders are visible on both machines.

Can someone tell me how to get the Vista connected to the user to see his account and files on the XP machine?

    Hello Joycern,

Thanks for posting in the Windows answers forum! I would recommend that you create a new workgroup using the directions in the following post. This should lead to a properly functioning network.

  • All of a sudden don't require passwords for one of my user accounts... Why?

All of a sudden, the user accounts on my computer is not necessary to enter a password to connect.  You can simply click the icon for a particular account and it load.  This includes administrator accounts.  I checked the user account control panel and it doesn/t display the saved passwords.  I have a fingerprint reader that works in conjunction with or instead of the password and who scans are always registered and working, but now are rendered advocated. What could have caused this?  I am on an HP dv6 - 1134ca Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium with service pack 2.  I can and will implement the new passwords for the accounts, but I'm a little disturbed that this has happened at all and do not understand what could have caused it.  Everything has worked out very well and normal until today.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

I never saw this happen by itself. All I can say is that you be proactive and make sure that the computer is free of viruses/malware and not compromised from outside.

  • File Vault using the same password as a user account?

As my computer is password protected is what advantage is there in the use of File Vault especially if it will have the same password as my user account?

Without FileVault, anyone who is in physical possession of the computer can read and edit all your files without knowing your password. With FileVault, it cannot.

  • Cannot connect to Mozilla Support. It does not accept my user name or password. Reset password email says that my account is already activated.

Tried to access the Forums of Support of Mozilla for Firefox Desktop Support, I've used several times. He cannot accept that my user name and password, claiming that they were incorrect. I tried the password reset function, which opened a window saying that accounts created before December 2010 may have connection problems. Reset your password below. It tells me to enter my e-mail address so that it can send me the instructions for setting up a new password. I get my e-mail address. It is said that we have sent an email to any account using this address. Please follow the link in the email to reset your password. I go to my email. Nothing is there. I wait, but still nothing.

I return to the login page and click the link - I do not have a confirmation email - connection issues. A new window opens telling me to activate my account, I have to first of all confirm my email address. I enter my email address. I get an e-mail from Mozilla immediately, telling me that my account is already activated, and it gives me a link to connect. I click on this link. I get my login and my password again. Same error message denying me access and tells me to enter a correct username and password. I try twice with no success. Same mistakes repeated.

So I try to create a NEW account using a different user name my email address. It doesn't let me do. It is said that the email address is already taken, and it does not allow me to proceed. In the end, I had to set up a new account with an email address that I never use, just so that I could access the functions of the help. I'm exasperated. I don't want to post my Questions that I do not use and having to open another application to access even the e-mail address. I want to be able to receive a message from Mozilla in my daily e-mail normal, if someone has replied to my message. But as Mozilla doesn't let me use my e-mail address for the new account, I put in place, I can't do that.

It's very frustrating. Mozilla does allow me access to my original user account that has already been put in place with my preferred email address. And Mozilla will not let me create a new user account with my preferred email address. Now I'm stuck with a new user account which is linked to an email address that I never use and is not easily accessible to me. As a last resort, I access my new user account in the hope that it will allow me to change the email address associated with the account, but of course, this is not an option.

Can someone please help me access my original account with my login and my original password? If a password reset is necessary, then I should not receive an email response telling me that my account is already activated (see below). If it is checked, then why can't connect? What is going on? Please help me. Thank you.

It seems that your account has already been activated.
