my computer keeps asking for missing drivers for an old printer that I have no more.  How can I remove this problem

I see that the computer continues to request the missing printer drivers. I'll help you with this problem.

1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

2. what security software is installed on the computer?

3. have you made changes on the computer recently?

Follow the link given to open the Hardware Troubleshooter: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

    Hello

    ·         Since when are you facing this problem?

    ·         Did you the latest changes on the computer before this problem?

    Method 1:

The date and time in the BIOS settings may be incorrect.

Important: Change BIOS (Basic input output system) /(CMOS) complementary metal oxide semiconductor

Settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    You can see this:

Incorrect time is displayed on 64 bit versions of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 after upgrading on-site

    Method 2:

I suggest you replace the CMOS battery. If you are not comfortable with that, then I suggest you to contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Check your regional settings in the control panel. Make sure that your time zone is set to which your PC is actually in.

If your time is changed after turning off the PC, it can be that the battery of your PC that keeps your clock "ticking" is dead and must be replaced. For desktop computers, it will almost certainly be a CR2032 and be something relatively simple to find and replace. for laptops, maybe it's not a CR2032 and may be very difficult to find and replace. Whatever it is, when in doubt, consult a technician, ideally one that you can get a recommendation for. I would have thought 10 dollars (including the battery) had to do for a desktop computer. A computer laptop pourrait be much more expensive, both for the battery and work.

  • lower part of the missing printed line

I used a 6210 Officejet for about 4 years with no difficulty.  For some time, the lower part of a printed line is missing.  This happens especially with QuickBooks Pro 2008 when printing controls but have lived in other applications like print test page...  It's random, is not all the lines, but almost all other lines.  I made different diagnoses, clean the printhead, realigned, etc..  It also occurs with a new print cartridge, etc.  It becomes very frustrating at this point.  Any advice would be appreciated

HI - try after step 2 in this document.  Sometimes, you can get some overspray on transport or the cartridge contacts that can cause the kind of PQ problem you see.

    Hope that helps.

  • Why my computer continues to change the file read-only after I have untick

I just had a Virus go through my computer and I cleaned it, then my computer shows I lost all my information, but I know that I have not because I still programs and background even though I've been there and opened a few folders to see if the files are hidden it turns out they were, but the box that says hide has not been verified , so I corrected the hidden problem but now the computer keeps the read-only check box and everytime I try to uncheck once I apply then click ok, it re check it self and I don't really know how to fix this... Please help

    Hi Cameron_513,

Method 1: Run the fixit available in the links below and check if that makes a difference-Worth to try
Diagnose and repair Windows files and folders problems automatically
Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

Note: FixIt would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

Method 2: follow the steps described in the article below to restore the security settings and then check if it makes a difference.

  • Win7 in VM (VirtualBox) continues to request the reactivation

... I have an MSDN subscription, but at home I run Linux and I frequently distro hop.

To simplify my life, I have a partition holding VirtualBox and a VM Win7 64 bit I get when I need to get into WINDOWS. Until very recently, since I started using Crunchbang, it always went without a hitch.

Lately the WIN7 installation asked that I re - activate the license every two days.  I haven't added new hardware (real or virtual), and on the other that of the configuration records shared through virtualbox, I did change all the parameters of the virtual machine (if it is not broken don't fix).
    1. Is it just the WIN7 execution prices in a virtual machine?
    2. Is there than a more "compatible" Linux based VM Manager should I use?
    3. Is there a limit to how many times can I re-enable it?
    4. Is there a policy that says after support ends, the activations will be refused?
    1. If I use the phone method'm always limited by 10 activations (including any web activations)? or is it 10 re-activate by phone and by web 10 (total = 20)
Ten of the reactivations by Internet without having to contact Microsoft. You can reactivate an unlimited number of times by phone.
    2. You said "on the same machine", which defines "the same machine?
Which means, if it's the same machine you distro jump on and make constant changes.
    3. This limitation is for server installations?
      Yes, if they are retail.
  • I have I can not reinsttall printer drivers or uninstall the old that I can't find. Help!

I have windows xp and a hp color laserjet 2600n. He worked for many years, but now I get an error of queue and cannot use one of the microsorf office programs. Error prevents from print or print previews. I tried to go into the printer and fax folder but cannot as it won't come back. Also, I went into Add / Remove programs and see some drivers to uninstall. I tried to install new printer drivers, but they will not install.

    Any help appreciated

Often, but not always, the symptoms you describe are caused by a corrupt print job stuck in the queue or a damaged printer driver.  However before you clean things up, on general principles, that you can download, install, update and run full scans with each of these two free programs:

    AntiMailware MalwareBytes
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Do not operate the two scans simultaneously.  Each will take a long time, so start it and then go do something else for a while.

    Cleaning of printers

NOTE: If after completing step has the print spooler is not always running after you launched the command "net start spooler", you will not be able to follow all the steps in "First Article".  Instead, go to the other link and download and get and use the utility 'cleanspl' such as described here.

    A. Clean on print jobs pending

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line

    net stop spooler
    del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
    net start spooler
    output

    B. clean the old printer drivers and install the latest drivers by using the directions in One Article.  If you have (or had) a Lexmark printer, follow the instructions on the following site before installing the new drivers, as explained in its first Article: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

    More information

If you do not have the CD that came with the printer, download the driver here--> http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=446154&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=446153&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228

Personally, I would use the 3.7 MB "package of Plug-and-Play" rather than the 86.6 MB 'Full Software Solution.'  In general, you don't really need all packages of auxiliary software that HP bundles with its printers - but it's up to you.
