Computer laptop 15-ay011nr: access to the BIOS

Hello

I have a laptop HP dating a week 15-ay011nr that does not allow me to access the BIOS. I do not see the message "press ESC for Boot Menu", but it starts directly on the hp logo.

With reference to this previous post:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Access-to-BIOS/td-p/1504303 on a Pavilion dv6

I tried all the steps except the last (remove the RTC battery).

I wanted to make sure if this solution applies to 15 laptops and if I do this or else, given the warranty has not expired

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated

Kind regards

KristiD

Only other thing I can think of who isn't in this post is to restore the bios, you can now win + keys B and turning on the holding of these keys, you can release it when the update/recovery of the bios screen

After that try with Esc or f10 key immediately after the power

If this does not work then I would recommend to contact your warranty computer HP

  • Computer laptop MSI cannot go beyond the BIOS at startup

    Hello world!

I'm trying to fix computer MSI laptop of my roommate (I don't have access to this right now, but I'll post the pattern later) which initializes more. He said he picked up the phone and moved to a different location on his desk before encountering this problem. When you turn on the laptop, the MSI and other logos appear. According to my roommate, the function keys to access the BIOS settings usually appear shortly after turning on the power, however they do not appear and the system never moves past this white screen of the BIOS. The motherboard doesn't give any beeps or other diagnostic codes. Here's what I did in an effort to fix it until now:
    • Took a CD - RW in the optical drive (there is no boot sector and the optical drive has priority boot).
    • Disassemble the laptop and re sitting 3 sticks of RAM, for a total of 12 GB. One of the sticks seems to have a small spot on one of the contacts, and I removed it by rubbing lightly with a gum pink pencil.
Unfortunately, we have not made any progress, and the problem persists as described. Normally I would Flash the BIOS at this stage, but since there is no startup options, what else could be?
Note: the dual-boots Windows 8 (primary) and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, system with the GRUB bootloader used for the selection of the OS.
Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello

If you can't even get into the bios, you need to look in the manual for a CMOS\Bios 'Clear' or the 'Reset' button or the rider...

If you can get into the bios, make sure that the graphics card is set up correctly...

Some machines have a CPU\GPU with an additional AMD or NVidia graphic chip combo...

The machine may be trying to use the bad.

Try to remove EVERYTHING except one that the memory sticks, and one by one try them individually...

Also try to isolate a possible bad slot trying a few sticks of different in each slot individually.

  • Computer laptop HP G72 freezes on the bios screen after installing a replacement battery.

After you have installed a spare battery, my G72-259WM freezes on logo screen or bios of HP. If I tap to shut down the pc, unplug the unit and remove the battery. Then, re-insert battery the pc boots fine. When I stop still, I have to go through the same process. I tested the memory strips to be good and have replaced the HARD drive (the original had questions) to a WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB. Everything works fine once the pc is started. Is it due to being of a batterty of spare parts? or is there anything else that might be causing it?

Its quite possible that battery is causing this issue since it has never occurred before the battery. Use this link to run a self test on the battery: test of a hard disk by using the Built in Self Test

Let me know what results you get from the test.

  • Laptop HP 15-r001tu: updated the Bios PC portable HP 15-r001tu

My laptop randomly makes automatic update of the BIOS recovery quite regularly, perhaps every two weeks, so I was wondering if this could be a problem with my laptop should I get extract? Or if it could just be normal? Thank you.

    @Kay7

It is not random. The HP Support Assistant is usually set on install updates, as appropriate, on a weekly basis.  I took a glance at the available on the web portal of suport BIOS updates in the section downlolad. I saw that in May there were six the available BIOS updates. I highly recommend that you turn off the automatic updates in Suport of tune.  Who will take care of the issue and put control of your laptop in your hands.

The HP Support Assistant is the only clean utility that your laptop comes able to update the BIOS on its own. Only install BIOS update when there is a reason and not just because a BIOS update is available. It is under the heading of don't fix it if it is not broken or it could break

When the HPSA is put in place in order to review and approve the updates, you should see an icon like the following in the systray down by the system clock.

This is the update that he wants me to take a look at review and choose to install or not.

Advanced options HPSA. Make sure that no automatic option is selected.

Same cycle occurs again and again. Ive tried to boot from the XP cd, but it gives the message "no hard drive not detected" and fails. detect the drives in the BIOS there is no options to the automobile.

Curiously, a USB bbot containing paragon hard disk manager won't start and sees my drive (two partitions) and the system partition is active.

I wonder if the flashing the BIOS changed settings or drive letters so that windows does not see properly. I wish there was just a simple option in the bios for detection of discs.

    Can someone pls help.

If you want to start your computer from the xp cd, then enter the bios and it try to disable the sata mode and activate the ide mode and then try to format your drive... it should work... !!!

  • No access to the BIOS. Aspire V5 - 571G

    Hi Acer community,

the problem is: I can´t enter the BIOS on my laptop, I Don t know what the problem and I now have the idea of what to do now.

    What have I done?

I had installed Windows 7 and everything worked fine. So I decided to install Debian GNU/Linux instead. It worked, although I had a few problems with the Wi - Fi connection and the system has not successfully stopped. That s why I wanted to reinstall Windows. In order to boot from the DVD, I have to change the boot order, because Debian always changes its own priority of boot to max - so at this point BIOS still worked! During the installation of Windows 7, I formatted all partitions of HARD drive, created new and BAM! Windows 7 would not installt because he has some problems with the GPT partitions, he said that he could not install on that partition (I tried it all). So I canceled the installation and the inexplicable to the system. Of course now he printed "the operating system not found '. I could not even access BIOS (although it has shown that the normal message 'Press F2...) "installing Windows 7 had trouble finding some drivers, so it has not yet started correctly. The recovery of Acer, I created from Windows 7 (before installing Debian) began, but he was not able to copy the first file and ended. If nothing has worked. However, I could install Debian again, who is now my OS.

    Current situation:

Operating system is Debian 7, s work, but I have a lot of problems with it (can't change the brightness of the display, often loses a wifi connection, restarts instantly (!) after stopping)

CAN´t enter the BIOS: I tried F2, DEL, ESC, F10, F12 without success.

Debian is again at startup priority #1 and I can´t change it without BIOS (so not able to BOOT from DVD, etc.)

I tried to short-circuit the G2201 contact (repair explains how to use it to remove the BIOS password), without success.

Maybe it s import I use the GRUB bootloader, which is automatically installed with Debian

So at this point, I can only hope that anyone of you has an idea what to try next.

Thank you for reading of this

MY GUY OK PROBLEM IS SOLVED, HERE IS THE SOLUTION:

Maybe there is a problem with the basic bios. When you set it to UEFI for LEGACY with the secureboot he have a * beep * bug and after you can not start on anything except which is authorized by the secure boot

And with the bug, you can not enter the bios...

My solution is...  To Flash the bios!

Here you can find the FILES, no PACKAGED goods:

    https://www.BIOS-mods.com/forum/thread-Acer-Aspire-V5-571P-BIOS-unlocked-hidden-options

I download files on my google reader:

    https://drive.Google.com/file/d/0B_lTuCxt68AOYy03UE83LVBoZWc/view?USP=sharing

This image of the unzipped bios, this means: you can run it from the prompt...

Put the Windows RESCUE KEY into the computer

Go to Advanced Options and open the command prompt,

Then put another key with the bios files flashing inside...

Type "pushd D:\". "where D:\ is the usb key, where is the flashing files! (if you don't know the letter, you can try A B C D E...

Then do a "DIR" command to see if it's the right device!

    Then run launch.bat.

Then it Flash the bios AND YOU CAN press F2 to ENTER IN...

So now idk if we were not able to press F2 due to a bug in the BIOS, or problem fastboot (fastboot = no keyboard support)

  • Envy 17-j130ea: HP Envy 17-j130ea do not have access to the BIOS recovery and black screen

    Hi people,

The laptop was waking up alone, so I decided to try to update the BIOS. Bis error. The tool has been run on 64 Win10

The HP tool left me with a black screen and after that I tried to hold the low win + B and the power to access the Bios recovery, but there is no nothing. Tone flashing, nothing.

I don't know if creating a flash drive with the bios will help as I don't have admin rights in another machine to create the flash drive using HP tool.

Any ideas? Flash player won't work if BIOS recovery is not pulled up?

    All ideas are welcome.

    See you soon

Well, I managed to solve the problem overnight without having to wait three days for anyone to answer that after the end of the week, with the following steps:

    1. I had to create a USB key with the bios by using the executable auto HP. It did not help that for some reason any that you have to have the administrator rights on a windows machine. Why aren't files available as well in a simple zip file? It would have helped a lot! Please stop HP right now provide only Autorun... it only compliates things. It took me an extra day just because I couldn't access a machine windows with administrator rights to install the executable file.

2 - Insert the memory stick with the bios in the dead computer.

3 - Press the Win + B and press the power button. The machine didn't do any beep or noise that all the guides say. I just kept pressing the key B + Win until I saw a recovery of the Bios screen, finally. Without the memory following stick this same step has not shown, nor does the computer make a noise or show any display, just died.

4 - wait for the update at the end.

My Advisor. Do not update windows, it all messed up. It is very reliable to get the memory stick. Too many windows things can interfere in the process, just don't do it from Windows, or at least create the memory stick first while you still can.

  • Access denied the Bios Update

I tried to update my bios on a notebook C500T CTO and received an access denied message and 'impossible to perform the specific command line' when I tried to install it (sp37633.exe). The system is Vista 32 bit. Thanks for your help.

    How all the information here.

    The update of the Bios?

You plug the adapter to the computer.

Disconnect from the internet. Turn off any antivirus and firewalls.

Start the update of the Bios. It may take some time. Do not turn off your laptop, unplug ac and don't do anything on this subject during this update is running.

  • Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC1E-03Y010EN) no access to the BIOS

    Hi all

I upgraded my OS from XP - Pro to Win7 Ultimate 2010 March, no problem everything works OK. Now that I need more space, I want to upgrade the hard disk of 40 GB to 320 GB.

I can not access the bios to change the boot system (boot from DVD, for example), I can access the initial screen of the 4 menu at the start of the laptop but any icon highlight (disks, CD/DVD/etc), the laptop starts just Win7. I tried to use F12, DELETE, F2, etc.; all of them get the Select where I want to go, but as I said earlier, when I select one, the laptop starts just in Win7 from the hard drive.

My manual tells me to use the Toshiba HWSETUP to access the boot system, but its does not work on Win7 (90% CD-ROM of the tools do not work on/with Win7).

I downloaded the new drivers Win7 for Bios and other different pieces, some have installed and others have not. More (including the BIOS updated) claim that I am running a not recognized OS so used to install! How the Win7 is an unrecognized OS?

    So my questions are;
    1. How can I access the BIOS to set the boot system to boot from the CD/DVD then the local disk?
    2. is there a fix for this problem? (Looking through the forum, this is not a rare.)
    3. can I never boot/BIOS systems working properly?

    See you soon

    Hello

    > 1. How to access the BIOS to set the boot system to boot from the CD/DVD then the local drive?

Usually, you can access Bios by pressing f2/f12 at startup, but you've already tried... Try the following:

    * Key esc (BIOS Toshiba) method *.
Press and hold the ESCAPE key.
    Turn on the laptop.
Press the F1 key when prompted.
The first page of the BIOS Setup screen appears.
If you have a utility called Toshiba hardware configuration (site in a windows environment) where you can choose the cd/DVD-ROM boot priority boot option

This laptop is quite a departure from my experience with servers and previous HP laptops.  I was able to easily find the manual equipment for each different computer server or HP laptop I worked on, not the same with 15-ay011nr.  On any other HP laptop, I was able to find the rear covers to replace the memory and hard drive, not the same for this laptop.  There is no lid at the back of this laptop.
