• Computer scientist looking for advice on BUP for a user

  Hi all. I did some searching on the forum but have achieved results which may be exceeded or are for backup out of my spec systems.

  I support a user with a MBP 2015, 500GB SSD. It is video editing with first Pro. She has several concurrent projects, so she's out of space on the local drive. I am responsible for the solution, but the PP is not strong in my company so I do not have inside help.

  My thoughts are this:

  Use a Thunderbolt2 2 TB drive, to back up all the content in the first place and work off of this drive (is it possible? Is it fast enough? She is not 4 k)

  The reader of TB and its OS disc hard 2 TB USB3, using Time Machine backup

  The other alternative that has been suggested is to save things CreativeCloud storage but I can't imagine it's almost fast enough.

  Your PC can handle Office if your documents won't have large databases or excel tables.

  IM using windows xp service pack 3.  whenever I open a heavy software on xp, which crisscross the movie hd, game play as nfs most wanted, slow down the computer starts. every time that I discovered the video that is larger than 2 min on youtube on 360 or more depth, it slows down my computer.

Our guys 'IT' knows all the fancy words for all the 'IT' stuff he does, but he has the patience to follow through and fix things until they are really fixed, it starts simply, then vibrates on a list of things to do after his departure... and it is overpriced, even if he was as good as he thinks he's.  But I have no say in this.  I'm not the admin PC I don't think, but I can run & install programs on the PC.  We use TrendMicro, which I'm not thrilled since I just cleaned my PC my 3rd year Trojan horse was not detected by T.M. but was detected by other things, such as MSE and MalwareBytes.  Where should I start, how to get it all cleaned up, & what should I do to keep it?

  I spent about 2 weeks of my time, since the purchase of this Pavilion, chasing the gremlins and finally repaired. Now I'm having this problem with the 'DESIRE '. All this foo for all passing through hoops, installation, uninstallation, reset, definition, non-colmatage, clogging and I really resent all this 'have you tried this,' "have you checked with the community"... on and on.

  I was given the web address of 192.168.1.250 by computer scientist who created the network originally.

  It is not specifically a "web address", it is more generically known as an IP address (actually that particular address cannot be used on the internet).

  A simple check is to open a dialog box run (Windows and "R" key) and in the box, enter \\192.168.1.250.

  This would bring a list of the actions available on the server, however, the user account on the PC must match a user account on the server. If it is not then a dialog box opens asking for a user name and password which must be a server recognizes.

  'Servers' can be a number of different PC configurations just another delegate to host office files to a file full of breath and the print server in an Active Directory domain. How to make this connection at all times will vary and your "computer" should have been there with you.

  Do you realize that it is a forum for USERS?  MS can never see your message.  If you try to attack that is to "spoil" your files, I seriously doubt that they will never see it more.  If you need assistance, you will need to provide details on how your computer is connected to these other places.  Looks like you don't talk about your device, but a kind of maybe a campus network?  Since you talk about Facebook, it does not seem as if you were in a commercial environment either.

  Once you have your system back as you I invite you to buy an external hard drive and a good 3rd party backup program. You can configure it to automatically do everything in time and frequency of your choice. 1.5 TB external hard drives is about $90 these days and a very good FREE backup program is the Easeus todo backup free that you can download from

• Only one account on the computer is not a Director

  I've seen a few posts on this problem, but none touch on questions or offer a viable solution.

  Here goes:

  The computer has a microsoft account (configured with an e-mail address and password), which we will call "Tom" on this point. This AT ONE TIME WAS a Director of accounts with total control. He is now appearing as a guest. Currently, there is no administrator account available in order to make changes, make the high command prompts, etc. When a user account control box, it is said to connect to an administrator account, but does not list a, and the OK button is grayed out.

  Sounds easy? FAKE... Here are the parts of fools.

  I am UNABLE to activate the built in admin account through this account of Tom for obvious reasons not having admin rights for the guests UAC or elevated command prompt. Register States that he built in account is already on ('10' in hexadecimal code)

  Restart in safe mode to get the account admin ACCOUNT TOM CAUSES to DISAPPEAR PERMANENTLY!

  I can make changes at this time, but all of a sudden the account of Tom is no longer presents itself as an account.

  After you restart the computer in normal mode, the account of Tom disappeared permanently and the account admin "safe mode" is in its place as a new account "Hi."

  At this point, I can create as many accounts as I want with ANY type, but I can never get windows to recognize on behalf of Tom more. create a new account with the same e-mail address, the windows to the State that account on the computer already exists with this address email... but it does not appear ANYWHERE.  The user files are still on the computer in the users folder.

  To recover from this State, I can restore the computer to a point 2 weeks ago and my account of Tom RETURNS, but unfortunately it is always invited.

  I tried the repair account tool by using the account of Tom, but obviously he invites a UAC and does not allow me to continue.  I have not tried running this tool in safe mode or to restart with the admin account but the account not found Tom. But I feel that accomplish nothing given that Tom is no longer seen as an account.

  It's not my computer. The only way I have noticed that this problem was trying to fix a webcam which is ' stuck on '... Yes, this could be an indicator of a deeper problem, or suspected of cheating. The webcam will start as soon as windows loads...? ! ? Scary! The owner had a "Computer SCIENTIST" friend working on this computer before these problems and I don't want to jump to conclusions about crippling computer and espionage through the webcam (which is now covered with Ribbon)... even if it's really a coincidence.

  Currently, re-installation of windows is a last resort solution. I'll take the easy way out without first bouncing around a few ideas.  I am EXTREMELY computer competent and tried most of the normal solutions (net user / add, administrator activate via the command prompt, safe mode, control panel of users is unusable because of the UAC).

  It's driving me crazy... I can't wait to see some good ideas!

  I can't imagine how it would disappear.  I hope that all your files are always safe under C:\Users\Tom (or other).

  A few different things can happen depending on whether the account exists locally before joining (which, in my opinion, is a more reliable way to go).  For example, my username home folder is shawn_000 because it uses numbers if you do first an account of Ms.  But this does not happen if the account was local first and then just got "connected" to MS account later.  But you also have weird things where you have a local and an online account if you go exploring in the MMC to actual users on the PC.

  Honestly, what would be probably the best is getting into the built-in administrator account and create a local account with admin rights, you can use without being in safe mode. Basically just one for yourself.  On my system, this is my only account. I trust just UAC instead of actually use an account limited, because honestly, does anyone really run under an account that is limited each day and go crazy?

  But I digress.  I just set up your new account as a local account.  Start and login, get it all configured and drag your files on.  Then more later if you want to you can connect it to Ms.
