My computer may take a long time to stop.

* Original title: Shut down

My computer off button does not work correctly. My computer may take a long time to stop.

Do not press the power button to turn off the computer or to solve a gel. Click on the ORB at the bottom left of the desktop and click stop. If you are having shutdown problems, then select the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up the Task Manager and click the Applications place the cursor on a running application to select and click on the end task button. As the application is removed from the list, repeat the procedure on the next application in the list until all are gone from the list. If you use the taskbar to access programs simply close all open windows. Then, you should be able to shut down your computer.

I tried to increase the number of cells under "App settings-> options-> warn if greater than 5 000 000 000 data form. I even tried to '0 '. Nothing works planning 9.3.1

    Hello

That's how I've always changed the number of cells, after which display the message on the forms of data.

There are 2 levels of adjustment. You can configure the application level, but users must select "Use Application Defaults" in the planning of the preferences of the user parameters. To do this, use the file-> Preferences and select schedule.

Otherwise, you can set the value of the number of cells at the level of the user for ' warn if data form more xxxx ". It should solve the problem. This should be the installation program if you have not selected checkbox default Application for the user in the preferences of planning.

If nothing else works, it is very difficult to guess, I would open a SR with Oracle.

  • Windows 7 takes a long time to stop

I installed a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit on one of my laptops about three months back. The laptop was brand new at the time. Everything went really smooth. But for the last week I am facing a problem, Windows takes an exceptionally long time to close. Whenever I try to close my laptop, the screen where it says that Windows is waiting for a program to stop with the option 'Force Shut Down'. The weird part is the place where it is supposed to show the program for which Windows expects in the end is empty. Absolutely no program is shown at any time. Even if I chose force closed, written with "Shut Down" screen comes up and the wheel will turn away and it takes about a minute to close. Sometimes, it takes as much as 5 to 8 minutes to stop. Previously he was not even a full 10 seconds to close.

My laptop is not obstructed by installed apps. Apps only I use is Eclipse, Android, Google Chrome, web browser emulator, VirtualBox to run a copy of Ubuntu and FlashGet to download from the internet.

All the drivers are installed correctly, as they ran all very well for the last three months. I have a paid Avast Anti-virus installed with paid Malware-bytes. I scan my laptop computer for viruses every two days and keep up-to-date. I keep my Windows updated through Windows Update. I have run the defragmentation of disk once a month. Even after that I encountered this problem, I ran a disk defragmentation. I also run CCleaner once a week. I have not yet installed any new apps until this problem appeared. I can't find something in maybe that could lead to this problem. The boot time for my laptop is really fast and normal. It feels sharp and fast while using it all the time. But the problem is whenever I try to turn it off.

    Computer laptop specifications:

    4 GB OF RAM

    HARD DRIVE 500 GB

    Processor Intel Core i3 3rd - Gen

Can anyone help me please with this problem? I'm frustrated by that.

  • Why Windows7 takes a long time to stop?

It is not a hardware problem.

I have the msconfig > startup/disabled services things I can.
I just went through and uninstalled all only possible program that seems dangerous or that I never use.
It takes about 5 minutes to go beyond "Shutting Down... »
Ubuntu, which is installed on the same computer is operating normally. I think that the problem is related to a program that blocks the closing windows until he did what he should do. I think as its sql server (uninstalled all sql server stuff as I could get away with thinking).
I ran Microsoft Security Essentials full scan.
I'm really not one to install without thinking about it or download it from a place that I don't trust.
I looked in the observer of events, but not really sure how to find the problem there. It's not like there is a single newspaper and then 5 minutes later another newspaper there. There is a constant flow of newspapers, I can say.
I'm a developer, so I express vs and as I said sql server installed. I went to apache once and had to turn off tips of sql server and this computer has never forgiven me.
This gets really annoying to wait half an hour to restart.

    Hi Warrior coding,.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

  • Satellite M300 PSMDCA takes a long time to start

I have a Toshiba Satellite M300 PSMDCA - 01800C and there are some problems with it.

First of all, when you start the computer, it takes a long time to start and activate Outlook.
I am running Windows 7Home Premium.
Computers arrow where I bought the computer told me that it can take up to three hours to go back through each process at startup?

Is it normal that all I wanted was a simple portable easy fast, but it seems that I am stuck again.

Also, when I go back to the computer, even after some time the mouse it does not provide new and pushing the Start button just a blank screen. Alt + Ctrl + delete, then he activates Windows again and then after having put my password and I have to wait for that be again loaded everything that takes so long. Any ideas?

Also I often get the message when the computer starts "error has occurred in Toshiba PC Health Monitor. He will leave the application. "Main.frm.cpp (184). Any ideas?

Quite often when I am scrolling with the mouse, the screen will turn black and flash and a message «the NVIDIA display driver... couldn't Reg...» "and he will correct itself after awhile. Frustrating!
Quite often when scrolling on the websites of the page I'm going to freeze?

I use MS Office 2010 and there is a problem trying to save Word documents and a message comes up with "a file permission error.

    Any thoughts? Thanks, Shirl51

    > First of all, when you start the computer, it takes a long time to start and activate Outlook. I am running Windows 7Home Premium. Computers arrow where I bought the computer told me that it can take up to three hours to go back through each process at startup?

    This nonsense!
The system should boot up quickly my laptop needs 30 seconds to start.
In my opinion, the system is screwed

In your case, I recommend to reinstall the system.
Did you create the recovery disk?
If this isn't the case, I think that detailed instructions should be placed in the user's manual.

After the recovery of disk has been created, restore the system, BUT save the data before doing so because the recovery disk would be to format the HARD drive and you lose data!

  • desktop computer takes a long time to load after uninstall of netware

Dear Pascal, recently, by chance, I installed the client service for Netware on my PC. He asked to restart the computer, and after reboot, logon screens became classic. I uninstalled netware by accessing the properties of LAN. I managed to restore logon screens using Microsoft resources available on the net. However, my PC now takes * for long time for the desktop icons and toolbar are displayed. I use Microsoft Windows XP Version 2002 SP3, Intel Core2Duo processor P8600 @2.40 Ghz with 2 GB of RAM on Lenovo Thinkpad R400. I understand that it is after uninstalling the netware client that my office is very very slow. Help me for a faster loading of the desktop computer. Best regards, Reba Shankar

    Hey Reba,

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community!

You have reached the right forum. Try to solve this problem.

If I understand correctly, you have some performance issues on windows XP computer.

Let us try the following steps:

Method 1: Any installed program must be uninstalled from Add and remove programs. You can just remove shortcuts from other places like LAN properties.

Run the following fix - it to uninstall client services for Netware.

Solve problems with programs that cannot be installed or uninstalled:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall

Method 2: See the following article:

How to make a computer faster: 6 ways to speed up your PC:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/atwork/maintenance/speed.aspx#fBid=uQRRD6ZPxkC

    Important notes:

    ·         Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

    ·         The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Visual Studio 2008 Pro takes a long time to start after the installation of measurement Studio 2009

After installing Measurement Studio 2009, I noticed that it takes a long time (30-60 seconds) to open a Visual Studio project.

I do not have an internet connection on my development computer and suspect he might be waiting on some kind of operation of the network to time out.  I had problems with Visual Studio in the past as well and had to work around them by adding entries to my hosts file (to redirect some addresses of Microsoft to the local IP address - this causes network operations to expire immediately).

Just curious if anyone has encountered this kind of slow startup time and found a solution.

    Thank you!

I found an article referring to a question similar to MS 8.1.  I don't know if the problem has simply not been corrected or why I am still having this problem.  Workaround "per computer" listed in the article solved my problem.

  • videos take a long time to buffer

There are a few dat I could watch fine Inc. and now it will take a long time for the buffer viedo and still have problems

    Hello

    1. what operating system is installed on the computer?

    2. what version of web browser work?

    3. do the same thing happens with all the videos that you try to play?

    4. I think you are referring to the videos online?

    5. How do you try to play the video?

If you use Internet Explorer and facing problems, watch videos online, then you can check out the link below:

The video problems when you use Internet Explorer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2532294

    Note:

There is no option within the operating system to increase the speed of buffering. Only way to increase the speed of buffering in some measure is to have a connection with a higher bandwidth. But note that as does you not an option of continuous play in CD or DVD.

Another work around that I do personally is to pause the video to complete the buffering and watch the video once the buffering completed.

    I hope this helps!

  • Programs to freeze or take a long time to respond

When I run new programs that they can take a long time to start or they freeze. This happens sporadically, but enough to be a nusiance. I followed all the steps listed under the section "fixit" of Vista Hoem premium and the maintence of the Vista Help sections section: I've defragmented, wipe the drive, run the system performance (overall score of 5.4 due to memory all other 5.9), has increased to 8000 MB swap file and several other steps. If I try to click on the program, while the little circle turns, my screen becomes a pale white and I can't do anythingfor several minutes

Has anyone else had this problem and solved? I have a lot of space (free 400 G) and 4G of RAM.

This happens anytime, not only after the machine has been for some time, given the previous answers to this question.

    Daniel Dixon III

    Hi Daniel,.

What application are you trying to access?

You can perform the clean boot, and then check if the problem persists. It will start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs and helps eliminate software conflicts.

The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual according to step 7 of the article: how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

..... Have never had this problem before when using Windows, but now I have new Windows Vista computer and it takes a lot of time.

    1. only speculation. You compare a XP with Vista.

    2. regarding why it took so long:
Same reason why it would take more time to download an e-mail message that has a LARGE attachment size.
Your total size of the file of a "pictures" could be actually large.
You can resize the photos before clicking on join. It can help.
