Computer won't recognize headset

My computer does not recognize the headphones that are plugged into the headphone jack. I have recently upgraded to windows 7 from windows xp. I can confirm that the plug is not broken, because it worked on windows xp. I plugged in several other computers windows 7 and I have the same problem. The volume remains silent and said there is no output device installed. The audio works with my usb headset, but it is pretty old so I don't use it. It seems that if the headphone jack works only on windows xp. Please do not hesitate to send any comments and don't forget to tell me if there is a solution to my problem

.

Hello

What is the brand and model of the computer?

If you are using a desktop computer, please put on the headphones into the back socket and check if it works.

If the problem persists, please update your sound card drivers and restart the computer, and then check to see if that fixes the problem.

  • Pavilion dv7-6157nr: computer won't recognize 6770M

Recently, while I was using my laptop I noticed that Catalyst Control Center has been the opening is no longer and I could not move from an integrated and dedicated graphics more. Being very intrigued, I decided to try to reinstall the graphics drivers (that I downloaded from the HP website), but when it finished it said committed mistakes during the instalation. After a short investigation, I noticed that the CCC had not been reinstalled. Basically, I can't get my laptop to install the drivers for the 6770M but the Intel HD drivers install perfectly.

In this case, you have already tried all possible options.

So, my suggestion you would do a complete factory reset and to me, this seems to be a hardware failure.

If this does not work even after the recovery, you can confirm the same.

In this case, you can call HP laptop service and file a complaint. They should be able to help you to organize the laptop for repair. See you soon!

    Hi gramward1,

We recommend all first download and install the drivers for the chipset on the computer and check the difference.
To download the driver, visit the website of the manufacturer of the system.

Step 1: You can also try to search for the hardware changes and check if the device is detected on the computer. To do this, try the following steps:
    a. connect any USB device to the computer.
    b. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click ok.
    c. in the list of items, click one of the items, click the Action menu and click scan for hardware changes.
    d. check if the device is detected.

Step 2: Try to remove and reinstall all USB controllers
    a. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc in the Open box and then click OK.
    b. in the list of components, expand Bus USB controllers.
    c. right-click on each device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click on uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    d. restart the computer once you have removed all the USB controllers.
Note: USB controllers automatically install after you restart the computer.
    e. plug the removable USB storage device and perform a test to ensure that the problem is solved.

  • That is apple music app install content and why it won't recognize my Apple ID and password?

That is Apple music app install content and why it won't recognize my Apple Id and password? It aims to prevent the battery I recorded on my iPhone being recognized on GarageBand on my Mac.

My guess is that you see an authentication dialog window requesting Admin username and password on your computer, because he wants to install files on your system (such as GarageBand/logic sounds) directory. This has nothing to do with your Apple ID that allows you to buy apps from the App Store.

Looking for something like this window?

    Hope that helps

  • Want to reinstall XP but the computer does not recognize the cd drive and does not allow for any installation.

Accidentally deleted some system files and now the computer won't allow me to install anything. Tried to install a new cd player to replace a corrupt, but it does not recognize drive. All the driver and OS install CD. Help.

    Fix missing files:

Try to run the checker system (CFS) files.  Press start, select run, type: SFC/scannow

SFC will ask your installation disc (which you must have if you are going to re - install), put it in the drive when requested.  Leave the SFC to replace all missing or corrupt files.

    To resolve the startup problem:

Check your BIOS Setup and make sure the optical drive is enabled and listed before the hard drive in the boot order.  When you start, there will be a message, "type any key to boot from the CD-ROM."  Type any key (execpt shift, shift caps lock, NumLock, etc) will cause the CD to be initialized in the installation program.  (I use the space bar, it's an easy target.)

In addition, it would be useful to know a few more things: 1) what edition and service pack level of Windows XP you are running?  (2) what is the model and manufacturer of the optical drive, please?

  • Computer no longer recognizes my removable hard drive to the top

    Hello

Sounds like his "stuck" in the current state. Try this: go to control panel, select Device Manager. When this window opens, navigate to the tab for your removable drive (try the category of portable devices), and when you find, right-click on the drive and select turn off first, confirm the deactivation, then right-click again and select uninstall, confirming again. When the device has been turned off and deleted, restart your computer with the drive connected to the USB port in what he normally resides. It recognizes the drive now?

Post your results here and let me know how you fare.
