Concurrent managers in a Non - CFP RAC environment

Hi gurus,

If one of the RAC instance that performs most of the managers fails in the RAC (Non - PNP) environment, what happens to managers and applications?
How to ensure failover in this case?
Is it possible to start all managers and applications on the other node of RAC instance without manual intervention?

Thanks in advance.

  • Need help on design for 2 EBS with RAC environment

    Hi all

We currently have 4 servers with 256 GB of RAM, 1 TB HDD and 8 cores. Our requirement is to configure two EBS 12.1.3 with DB RAC environment. We want to take advantage of these 4 server to accommodate the two EBS since the configuration of the server (application server 2 with HA and 2 DB for RAC servers) are quite high, because the concurrent users on each EBS are not more than 200.

So our problem is as below:

Say we have these server 4A, B, C and D. We have 1 create multi instance node, with DB on server A & B (CARS) and application on the server C & D. Now if we want to install the second case, with the same architecture on the same servers that we do.

    (1) use the same grid infrastructure and create DB for 2nd instance cluster even. (how?)

    (2) install another grid infrastructure and create totally another cluster for this instance.

You can do the following for a case of BSE, and perform similar operations for a 2nd on the same grid. Check after the link. He detailed information EBS on RAC Setup

Install EBS R12 on 11g RAC Oracle ASM

    High level steps are:

    • Install and Configure Grid Infrastructure on cluster 2 nodes.
    • Create the DATA starts EAM and FRA with a sufficient size.
    • Install theSoftware to the database of this Cluster Homeon.
    • Install the EBS by using a quick installation on the database node 1 (out of the BOX Non-RAC on 1 node installation
    • Install BSE using rapid installation on nodes of applications.
    • Convert the database of 11 GR 1 material not RAC RAC Database.

    Thank you

All the right questions... Welcome to the world of Exadata.

These are questions that could get into a lot more detail and discussion than a forum post. At a high level, you certainly don't want delete all indexes on Exadata. However, you need to index and an indexing strategy will change on Exadata. After you move a database from one not Exadata Exadata environment you are probably more indexed. Indexes used for OLTP transactions real - looking one or a few lines among others will usually quickly with an index. The index used to avoid a percentage of records but always returning number of records can often be moved. On the index depends on the nature of the workload and your application. If you have a control on the index, then test your queries and DML with the index (s) invisible. Check your implementation plan, the columns io_cell_offload in v$ sql, smart scan wait events to ensure you get intelligent analysis... and see if the smart scan is faster than using the index (s). The real-time SQL Monitor is an excellent tool to help with this - use dbms_sqltune or grid/cloud control.

Parallelism is a great tool to help still speed up queries and direct path loading operations and can help prompt smart scans... but use of parallelism really depends on your workload and must be controlled using DBRM and the parallel init parms, possibly using same parallel declaration put on hold, so it is not overwhelm your system and cause concurrency problems.

If you have a mixed environment of workload or consolidates databases on Exadata so my opinion is IORM plans should certainly be implemented.

  • Concept on Undo tablespace in RAC environment

Why we need two different Undo tablespace for two different instances in RAC environment. What are the internal mechanisms behind it? No explanation of the concept will be great for me. What will be the scenario if we have same tablespace undo for two instances?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

To reduce CONTENTION and the complexity of the software.aslo oracle instances share not undo tablespace using cancel separate increase the availability of data undo files.

Note: all instances can still read that cancel all blocks for coherent reading purposes. In addition, any instance can update the any tablespace undo during the restoration of the transaction,

as long as undo tablespace is not currently used by another instance to cancel generation or a recovery operation.

    Something is wrong!

By default, default gateway of the server is used as the target ping during action Oracle RAC 10 g VIP status check.
After a ping failure, Oracle will decide that the current interface where the VIP is running has failed and will introduce
an interface / failover of the internode VIP.

In above case, we used a single node for installation of CRS, so the VIP couldn't failover to other nodes and so reported an additional as error:
CRS-1006: no more members to consider
    CRS-0215: could not start resource 'ora.dbtest2.vip '.

    Try->
A FAIL_WHEN_DEFAULTGW_NOT_FOUND parameter in the file
    $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/racvip to fix this problem.

The following steps will fix the problem of departure of VIP for above mentioned scenario.

    1 - Stop applications
    2 - as root,
VI the script $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/racgvip and change the value of
    variable FAIL_WHEN_DEFAULTGW_NOT_FOUND = 0.
    3. start the application and you should see online resources

You can proceed to netca and dbca to create a RAC database after that.

  • Clients unable to connect due to the ORA - 12545 Intermittent in RAC environment

    We deal with this problem.
Whenever we connect customer oracle application to our database server.
ounces it connect and the next moment, it shows the error ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.

After searching on Google, I found many recommendations for this.
    the one I like is:

    +(source: Internet) +.

Whe LOCAL_LISTENER is nothing or is not set correctly, PMON can record the VIP host name and the physical hostname with the REMOTE_LISTENER. This is incorrect in the CARS, but if this happens, the client may intermittently be routed to an endpoint listens on one of these addresses. If the client cannot resolve the host name physical or even vip host name, the connection will fail with ORA-12545.
And first set is important to check the output for: lsnrctl services < nom_recepteur >
You should not see the physical hostname in the information manager for your RAC instances. Here is an example of a services of incorrect lsnrctl < nom_recepteur > output to a 2 node RAC cluster:
    oracle_rac_listener lsnrctl services
    Service 'oracle.oracle.com' has 2 occurrences.
'Orcl1' instance, State LOAN, has 2 managers of this service...
    Managers:
"DEDICATED" set up: 0 denied: 0 status: ready
    REMOTE SERVER
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=myphysicalhost1) (PORT = 1521))
"DEDICATED" set up: 326 refused: 0 status: ready
    LOCAL SERVER

"Orcl2", State LOAN, has 1 operation for this service...
    Managers:
"DEDICATED" implemented: 394371 refused: 0 status: ready
    REMOTE SERVER
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=myphysicalhost2) (PORT = 1521))
Here's an example of what it should look like when LOCAL_LISTENER is configured correctly:
    oracle_rac_listener lsnrctl services
    Service 'oracle.oracle.com' has 2 occurrences.
'Orcl1' instance, State LOAN, has 2 managers of this service...
    Managers:
"DEDICATED" set up: 0 denied: 0 status: ready
    REMOTE SERVER
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=myVIP_host1) (PORT = 1521))
"DEDICATED" set up: 326 refused: 0 status: ready
    LOCAL SERVER

"Orcl2", State LOAN, has 1 operation for this service...
    Managers:
"DEDICATED" implemented: 394371 refused: 0 status: ready
    REMOTE SERVER
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=myVIP_host2) (PORT = 1521))
Open a session with privileges to the instance and run the following commands so that LOCAL_LISTENER is correctly configured:
    change the value system LOCAL_LISTENER = "(address = (protocol = tcp (host = < your_vip_node1 >))(port=1521)) range = the two sid ="INSTANCE_NAME1";"
Do the same for the 2nd instance where is set to < vip_host_node2 > and the sid is defined for the 2nd instance name.
    change the value system LOCAL_LISTENER = "(address = (protocol = tcp (host = < your_vip_node2 >))(port=1521)) range = the two sid ="INSTANCE_NAME2";"
Now the correct address using the VIP host name is registered against the Auditors in the cluster.
The client must be able to resolve all forms of the VIP host through their file/etc/hosts. that is, short name and complete.

    now my concern is:

To change the LOCAL_LISTENER parameter in the init.ora/spfile database, it will require a downtime? or it will have a negative impact on our existing RAC databases?
    Please suggest?

    Thank you

  • SPFile in an Oracle RAC environment

I am a beginner on Oracle RAC. Can someone explain to me how spfile is used in a RAC env? and if you have two nodes and all have two different hardware configuration (i.e. memory for node 1 is 8 GB and the other is 12 GB) then I should have two settings for nodes 1 and 2 file?

    Hello

If you have two nodes and you set all settings to change, then you must show sid (sid ='* '-change simultaneously for both nodes) and each appropriate node a spfile and pfile from

If you want to give each node separately so you can put sid = "node1" after (first change node)

-Specify SID = ' *' If you want Oracle database to change the value of the parameter for all instances.

-Specify SID = "sid_of_a_database", if you want to change the value of the parameter only for the Oracle sid server instance.

  • OAM and MS integration Active Directory on non-Windows Server environment

I begin by saying that I'm dealing with a heterogeneous environment here where several systems are managed by different management levels. Our Oracle systems chose to go all * nix (Solaris Oracle and Red Hat Linux) and so we do not have a single Windows Server in our Oracle services and would really like to keep it this way that we prefer to keep a uniform platform in all of our Oracle servers.  However, the side our Department Office has chosen to use Microsoft Active Directory, and now we want to integrate and perform authentication against it for our protected sites OAM.  We are in the initial phase of installation, but we didn't want to implement a critical server like OAM on the Windows platform and focus rather OAM running on a Red Hat Linux server to Active Directory.  We will also use OID as run us portal but do not want to use it as our authority for Oracle products authentication (local policy is that Active Directory is the authority of the credential is valid on the site as we head towards the true Single Sign On our desktop and web applications).  I have a few questions.

    1. it is possible using native or to run the version of Windows of OAM?
    2. If you must run OAM on Windows to use AD for authentication, is it possible to install the Windows of OAM version as kind of an interface for our main server of OAM running under Red Hat Linux to make the AD Auth?
    3. can it be done using some kind of interface such as Oracle Virtual Directory in interface with the interface LDAP to Active Directory MS?

    Hi David,

    Answers online

    1. it is possible using native or to run the version of Windows of OAM?
You can run all servers in OAM on * nix and just point to AD as a source of data on the machine: port AD running on OAM. There is no need for the components of the OAM on Windows.

    2. If you must run OAM on Windows to use AD for authentication, is it possible to install the Windows of OAM version as kind of an interface for our main server of OAM running under Red Hat Linux to make the AD Auth
As above, this is not necessary.

    3. can it be done using some kind of interface such as Oracle Virtual Directory in interface with the interface LDAP to Active Directory MS?
Yes, it is quite possible. Even if it is not necessary in your situation, it provides more flexibility front the user store with OVD, for example when the addition/change of name of Windows domains, or by specifying some branches for users and so on.

    Kind regards

  • Redo logfiles duplicated in RAC environment

    Hi all

You know the reason for this behavior in Oracle Rac? I have 02 logfiles for thread1 and same 02 logfiles to thread2.

It was supposed to be as it is:

INST_ID SELECT GROUP # MEMBER ARCHIVED STATE BYTES
    ---------- ---------- ---------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------- ----------
    1 2 +ORADATA/pgb083/onlinelog/log2a.rdo IDLE 52428800 YES
    1 2 +ORADATA/pgb083/onlinelog/log2b.rdo IDLE 52428800 YES
    2 2 +ORADATA/pgb083/onlinelog/log2a.rdo IDLE 52428800 YES
    2 2 +ORADATA/pgb083/onlinelog/log2b.rdo IDLE 52428800 YES

But, how can I see. Check it out:

    SQL > select t1.inst_id
    2, t1.group #.
    3, t1.status
    4, t2.member
    5, bytes
    t1.archived
    6 7 SGS $ log t1
    8, gv$ logfile t2
    9 where t1.group # = t2.group #.
    order of t1.group #, t1.inst_id, t2.member;
    10
INST_ID SELECT GROUP # MEMBER ARCHIVED STATE BYTES

    Any idea?

Could you post the results of this query

    SQL>select lg.inst_id,lg.group#,lg.thread#,lf.member from gv$log lg,gv$logfile lf where lg.inst_id=lf.inst_id and lg.group#=lf.group#
    order by inst_id,group#,thread#;

    And look for any oddity
