Confusion of VLAN between server and VM

I'm having a devil of a time with a number VLAN networking.  I have an ESXi server with an IP 10.10.10.246.  Until very recently, all my virtual machines that are created are under the 10.10.10.x - vlan 10.  However, I have a server now that I'm trying to convert with a 10.10.99.22 IP address.  Since it is on the vlan 99, this virtual machine will not see anything on the vlan 10.  VMware server is connected to port of the switch Cisco is configured for vlan10, the server itself is obviously vlan10, but the virtual machine itself must be on vlan99.  Do I have to change this VM on vlan 99 can ping and all see on the vlan 10? I went into the Setup screen for the network adapters on the server and see that the IP ranges observed is set on "10.10.10.1 - 10.10.10.127", but I don't see how to change (or if I need to).

Thanks for any help.

Hello

You must create another group of ports on the existing vSwitch

  1. Go to the properties of the vSwitch

  2. Click 'Add '.

  3. Select "Virtual Machine Network", then click Next

  4. Give the network a name (vlan99) and give it a label of VLAN 99.

If the uplink on the Cisco switch is set correctly who should do it.

Good luck!

I am struggling with what I thought, would be a simple task: route several subnets, each on one VLAN different, a firewall to a server.  In fact, I can't even pass the VLAN by default one still looking correct in the address tables and STP.

Port 1 = firewall, VLAN 1 unidentified, 2 VLAN Tag, 1 PVID, tried the two trunk and general patterns

17 = server NIC, VLAN 1 unidentified port, VLAN Tag, PVID 1 and 2 2, tried, tried both safe and general patterns

VLAN 1 (firewall untagged) 10.84.195.0/24, 10.84.195.2 Interface IP and default gateway 10.84.195.1

VLAN 2 (tag of firewall) 10.101.0.0/16, IP Interface 10.101.0.2 for 2 VLAN, firewall est.1

The first thing I got was that something has not been properly marked by (Hyper-V, using SC VMM 2012 SP1) server or the firewall (Watchguard XTM 520).  Simple test: VPN Firewall, ping the switch to 10.101.0.2 with the tag, and works, remove the label and it doesn't.  Dynamic address table shows the two-way firewall.  Line 18 below appears right after the ping as planned on VLAN 2 with the same MAC address in VLAN 1.  In addition, I ping the switch 10.101.0.2 from the server and it works fine.  The table shows that VLAN 2 from the host (and 1 other VM), so it seems to me that everything is properly labeled.

    15 VLAN 1 00907f8f571b G1
      16 VLAN 2 00155d1f1b07 G17
      17 VLAN 2 001dd8b71c01 G17
      18 VLAN 2 00907f8f571b G1

What I can't do, is ping through the switch to VLAN 2.  I can't ping my VPN server (10.101.20.1), and I can not ping to the gateway (10.101.0.1) from the server.  Note, it is not because of rules to firewall on each end.

What Miss me?  I don't think I need a routing of layer 3 here, I don't have to go through VLAN, just have them several VLANS passes from one port to the other.

Other things to note in case it is useful:

-I have no connectivity not tag with everything else through the 10.84.195.xxx/24 switch.

-If I delete the Tags VLAN port 2 1 trunk, I suddenly can ping the bridge VLAN 2 (10.101.0.1) from the server, although I suspect that it is because the same port is the default gateway for the switch.

-For brevity, only 2 lines of the STP are listed below, but all ports are therefore based on the question of whether they are connected or not.

    G1 activated 128.1 Frw Desg P2P (STP) No. 4
    G2 activated 128.2 Dsbl Dsbl No. 100.

    -Latest firmware installed.

-In addition, for people concerned about their security, I want to remove use VLAN by default in the future.

Would it be possible for run you to stick your show output here in the forum.  In this way, we can take closer look at what you have configured.

If you connect a desktop/laptop computer (with and intellectual property in the 10.101.0.0/16 range) in a port with the mode of access switchport VLAN 2 are you able to ping IP Interface 10.101.0.2 for 2 VLANS?  You could try to disconnect the firewall and the configurations for the port and work on getting through the switch with 2 terminals on a single VLAN.  Then, once this is confirmed as work connect the firewall back up with a trunk/general mode adding the VLAN necessary.

You connect to the firewall on a layer 3 interface?  You need Layer 3 routing to reach the firewall correctly.

  • CharacterSet between server and db

    Hello

I have undertsanding import export difficulties using these different characterset.

    In UNIX environment
Server: US7ASCII and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
    DB: AL32UTF8

    In the WINDOWS environment
Server: WE8MSWIN1252 and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
    DB: WE8ISO8859P1

What I know, the DB character set is used for the data types such as VARCHAR2 and CLOB, and the national character set is used for NVARCHAR2 and NCLOB. You cannot change the game without re - create the characters of DB database. US7ASCII is only English. WE8MSWIN1252 is Windows CP-1252 (Latin1). AL32UTF8 is multibyte Unicode (2-4), which includes all languages. If you the characters database supports the language that you need, you don't need to use the national replacement data types. AL16UTF16 is a character set Unicode fixed 2 bytes often used for Asian languages. A set of characters fixed bytes is normally a little more efficient and faster than Unicode coded on several bytes, but not as universal, but still better than a single byte. If the data is ISO-8859-1 encoded data, it should be no problem to import in a UTF-8 database. UTF - 8 can encode each character.

  • Problem with VLAN between Cisco Catalyst (3560G) and SG300-52

I am having trouble with the creation of a trunk of vlan between a SG300-52 and a Cisco Catalyst 3560 G.  I have 4 VLANS (1, 2, 10 and 11) on the 3650 and I need ports on the SG300 to be able to communicate with them.

On the 3560, port 14 is defined as:

    interface GigabitEthernet0/14

    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

    switchport mode trunk

    spanning tree portfast

On the Sg300 port 52 is defined as:

switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1,2,10,11

    description macro switch

Try to understand what the problem... Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Chris

Hi Chris, the first problem is the spanning tree portfast, it shouldn't be on an interconnection network switch. You may have a mismatch of vlan native as well, but that shouldn't matter.

A suggestion, however, the value of the port SG300 general mode and disable the input filter.

  • Peripheral NAT between Security Server and Connection Manager - View 4.6

    Hi all

I'm trying to deploy a view environment 4.6 - with a view Security Server in the DMZ.

The DMZ is a NAT entirely would be and isolated network (single firewall, configuration 3-leg-GB-2000 is the model of the firewall).

At this point, just trying to get RDP to work with this configuration.

The firewall configuration is as follows:

    -Security server IP - 10.1.1.49/24

-The alias created to view connection server - 10.1.1.100 (NAT IP)

-Tunnel NAT (with port 8009 and 4001) created between the server connection view and real IP 10.2.2.229 server connection alias

-The alias created for the view Desktop - 10.1.1.101 (NAT IP)

-Tunnel NAT (with port 3389) created between Desktop and view real IP Destop 10.2.2.239 view alias

I can RDP directly since the Security server to the desktop (via the 'alias' 10.1.1.101 IP) view correctly.

I can connect successfully from the internal network (via IP real office 10.2.2.239).

When I try to connect via the server of security (from the outside) I get the connection for the initial connection manager, and I choose the pool to connect to. However I'm unable to start a desktop session. The error I get is "the office is currently not available.

In the event logs on the Manager server connection that I see that the real IP (10.2.2.239) is used to connect to the desktop view - which will not work in this scenario (the 10.1.1.101 alias should be used).

Has anyone deployed a server of security seen in this scenario?

    Thanks in advance!

Not sure if it works or not, but there is a GPO that changes the rules to connect using the DNS name.  Is the name DNS returns the correct value, you must connect as?

  • Move VMS between server ESXi and vSphere ESX server

    Dear all,

I want to move some a vSphere ESX server virtual machines to ESXi server.

I understand that some users will use CPS to move between the ESX servers, but apparently not for moving between different products.

I'm just using a slow and prone to error method:

The files of the virtual machine to my deskop PC of vSphere ESX server and then upload to the ESXi server.

I would advise you to please all of the methods that is better than this one?

    Help, please.

    Kind regards

    Tommy

If you got a central storage you can move virtual machines between the two products with vMotion. Since you don't seem to have available vMotion, you pouvez use scp. SCP has nothing to do with ESX/ESXi products. It is a Linux/Unix program which is available in both servers.

So with the CPS, you need a little less.

    The syntax is like:

    SCP - r/path/to/vm/directory user@esxi:/path/to/new/location

  • NATing between an ESX server and the Virtual Center Server.

We strive to set up a server to VirtualCenter 2.5 inside a firewall and put servers ESX 3.5 within each of our customer networks. I think I am confused?

    It is on this link?

Supported for VirtualCenter 2.0 only NAT

This version supports for the connection from ESX Server 2.5 and VirtualCenter 3.0 hosts using NAT (NAT). To configure ESX Server to connect to a VirtualCenter server is configured behind a NAT, you must add the following in vpxd.cfg configuration setting:

    < vpxd >

    ...

    < managedip >ipAddress< / managedip >

    ...

    < / vpxd >

When the IP address is the address of the host ESX Server uses to communicate with the VirtualCenter server.

See KB 2195771 "Manually setting Cluster IP address for Clustered VirtualCenter Server" for more information on the manual configuration of the IP address in the file vpxd.cfg.

Also note that the NAT must be configured to allow packets UDP Port 902 of this IP address.

  • the difference between the Web application server and Web server?

What is the functional difference and the relationship between the Server Web applications and Web server, for example: Weblogic is the Application Web server, IIS is the Web server, Apache is the Web server and Oracle Application Server is the Application Web server? Someone said, Web Application Server is a Web server, but more functional superset, seems in this case, we can also use a server of web applications as a web server. For example, we can use Weblogic, but do not use IIS and Apache, please correct me?

  • connection between sql server and java

someone please tell me how to connect to sql server with java

    Welcome to the forums.

The forums are a research tool very useful - by using the search box you will see near the top right.  You will find that most of the questions that ask you, which, have already been asked on the forum, so it pays to research frist - that way you get a faster response and you can find other interesting things.

In this case, I did a quick search using SQL Server and found these threads that will probably help:

  • LOB compression secure between the server and the client

    Hi all
    According to the doc:
SecureFiles LOB compression is performed on the server and enables random
reads and writes to LOB data. Compression utilities on the client, like
    utl_compress, cannot provide random access.
I don't know about the server and the client model in compression. This means that when has a table with a column of compress instance A and instance B accesses the table, the compression is performed on the server? How to do an instance a server or client, in this context? What he means by "random access"? How can we ensure that if a server is running live?

    Best regards
    TA.

How do with random reading and writing? What is random and write anyway?

LOB manipulation - see DBMS_LOB. e.g. DBMS_LOB. WRITING, WRITEAPPEND, READING, etc

You couldn't use these on something that has been compressed to the outside.

  • What is the association between JMS and JMS Module server in weblogic 10?

    Hello

I have a created a topic ConnectionFactory, queue as JMS Modules in Weblogic Server 10 using the administration console.
And I created a JMS server and targeted on the server running current (Server Admin).

But when I run the program of the sender of the queue it is not able to search the jndi I gave for the queue.

    queue = initialContext.lookup ("jndi_queue") (line);

    Exception:
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: unable to resolve 'jndi_queue '.

But I have configured jndi name when I create the queue JMS module in Weblogic Server 10.

How the JMS Module and Server JMS are involved.

My doubt is if I have several JMS Modules and that one created JMS server so how the JMS server identifies the queue/topic belonging to what JMS Module?

    Please advice.

    Thank you...

    Hello

Once you have configured the JMS servers:

Step 1: Target the configuration module of JMS in the cluster that will host destination, or, if not using clusters, target the module to the individual WL server that will host the JMS server.

Step 2: Set up a "subdeployment' for the module and set it to reference the exact JMS servers that will be the destination host. If you use a desitnation distributed, you can specify that multiple JMS servers, if you use a regular destination, don't specify a single destination.

Step 3: Create a resource of destination in the module, and then assign him his the subdeployment subdeployment specified in step 1 (the console called "advanced targeting"). As a best practice to avoid the "targeting default" option for the resource - always choose subdeployment targeting (Advanced).

For more information, refer to the "best practices" section of the JMS configuration guide:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E14571_01/Web.1111/e13738/best_practice.htm#CACJCGHG

I also I highly recommend chapter JMS the book "Professional Oracle WebLogic.
