Confusion of Win 8.1 Pro and HP drivers... Help!

[SOLVED]

I solved this issue and I found all the necessary drivers for the laptop, including those who were in SWsetup which I found and renamed all the drivers because they have been abbreviated. Fortunately, most of the drivers have an XML file within the software so I know that I have the right drivers.

I was initially really p * d with this forum and HP because I don't want a book full of useless c * software p I'll never use. I have my own license for NIS_2013, and I have my own licensed software I want to use instead of what HP wants you to use. I was embarrassed at first but can appreciate that you have rules and guidelines that must be followed at all times.

I wish that you could by a laptop or notebook with no OS and just the laptop. It would be much easier and less stressful on my nerves. Unfortunately I resoled this now, and although it took me the best part of an hour to find and rename all the drivers and software, because HP has decided on shortening all the drivers and software, maybe it was to discourage users by their use. I like a challenge, and I cracked. I saved these my external drives and now I know that I have all the drivers and software. I am not particularly a fan of the Cyberlink software, I've never been. I have nothing against CyberLink. I don't like their software.

Thank you...

I appreciate this is a long topic but... I would have thought that at least somebody could have pointed me in the right direction. I am a little disappointed to be honest with this forum because I would have thought that somebody would have stepped up to the table and given a little bit of guidance instead I have had zero response which is a little disheartening to say the least. I am the kind of person who rarely ask for assistance, and on the occasion that I do I get stonewalled. I am the kind of person who will rarely ask HP for assistance... mainly because I can resolve issues myself.

If I don't hear anything, well then I shall put it down to experience. It's a shame that nobody has the... Well excuse my French, balls to answer a question that HP obviously won't support on their forums which I find bizarre considering advanced users don't like all the extras that come with this laptop. I like to install what I wan to use. not what a manufacturer provider of hardware and software tells me to use and install.

Is it asking too much. I guess so. I have located 95% of the drivers and software. I just have one Unknown left in Device Manager. I took a snapshot of Programs and Device Manager so I know what needs to be installed. I do this for a living on a daily basis and I am intelligent enough to resolve this myself. But a little assistance on one Unknown Device would be nice. I am sorry if I come across as pig headed and a little frank. But I find it frustrating when advanced users like myself ask for assistance. I am a moderator and IT support on a well established forum and help people all day long... well no over XMAS and the New Year. But yep... I do this morning to evening and in the night supporting others.

Thank you HP...

Enough said....

  • Dilemma of dual boot Win XP SP3 Pro and Windows 8 Pro

At this time, April 2013, I expect to build a desktop system dual boot with Windows 8 Pro for the current and future capabilities and Win XP Pro for continued use of legacy aps favorite who will not run on Win8. It turns out that the disc formats are a problem. The Win8 64 bit needs a partition format GPT to install 32-bit XP or XP Pro needs a format MBR partition to install. No OS will share the same format and a main drive cannot be formatted and partitioned in a type of format or the other. What to do? !! Two computers are not an acceptable answer; I want a 'box '. In addition, not interested in XP Mode embeded in Win8 or 'virtual machine '. One suggestion has been to run the operating system on separate disks. For me, this means that 2 SSD is to get performance on the two operating systems. Also, to move from one OS to another, you must restart; catch the key bios entry; change the boot sequence; Save/quit; and reboot. (Awkward!). So what to do with the data and documents - one NAS file storage (for example, disk WD Live 'cloud')? There's good news to have? Are there recent usability solutions to help solve the dilemma of the dual boot? A boot manager will really help and there a good "gift" there Boot Manager? Thoughts, anyone?

As mentioned in the article, it is your responsibility to facilitate access to Windows 7 Professional reinstall media. He may be borrowing retail upgrade or full version of media or OEM System Builder.

If what you bought is an OEM System Builder Windows 10 Pro license, then you can indeed buy Windows 7 Professional.

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

    Full version (retail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

    -Expensive

    Upgrade version (detail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

-Expensive, but less expensive full version

    OEM System Builder version:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.

There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed. (See "is allowed to use Windows OEM on your own PC? Don't ask Microsoft. »)

Please note that Windows 7 Release Candidate is a preliminary version of Windows and should not have has been used as a release candidate.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

    Hello

    Try the following.

First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your desktop.

    Flash Player Uninstaller.

Once the download is complete, close all browser windows and start the program uninstaller.  Once done, restart the laptop.

Then, download and install Firefox , then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash. Note: You can deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before download.

Close all browser windows before you run the installer of Flash.

Start Firefox and see if the video play Ok - if they do, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same link Adobe Flash above to get a command prompt to install the ActiveX component.  Once completed, restart Internet Explorer.

If you still get the problem of loading, run a check of the speed of your internet connection by using a site like the one on the link below, where it is causing the problem.

  • Cannot install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HARD drive

    Hello

My HARD drive died, so I decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660 - 1 9 to an SSD.
I made a USB bootable with Win8 and starts very well.

The problem is that it does not detect my SSD, so I can proceed with the installation.
SSD appears in BIOS but not in Windows Installer.
He said that there is a missing driver.

I downloaded the AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even in this case, after you have selected the only rider that appears, it says no new device found.

I tried to change the SATA from AHCI mode to compatibility mode and it's the same thing...

    What can I do?

    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards
    Bruno Moreira

More old Windows XP need a driver AHCI Intel's but I think this isn't a problem with SATA driver missing because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers to recognize the SSD or HARD disk drive.
In addition, the installation of the OS should be possible even if the driver would be added for this procedure, you must use the "compatibility" mode
As you say, the compatibility mode is not working too, so I think there is another problem.

However, page driver Toshiba also provides a driver Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) (Windows 8 - updated) you can try to add during the installation of the OS.

But I m wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Have you tried to format the SSD using a different computer, then install Win 8?
    Give it a try.

  • Updated by Satellite P750/05F to Win 8.1 Pro - a few questions

I just upgraded my P750/05F Windows 8.1 pro with a CLEAN win pro 8.1 installation

I downloaded and used only the windows 8.1 drivers listed for the P750 via the toshiba site.
I've always had some problems, but I think I solved the

IE. : no Win 8 driver worked for ENE IR device, so I used win 7 64 bit
Atheros windows caused 8driver problem so I got latest Atheros site

There is no drivers windows 8 for the trackpad on the toshiba site and windows drivers 8 synaptic install not at all, so I used windows 7 64 drivers.

So far, the machine seems stable with it.

Im very bored Toshiba did not provide a windows driver package 8 for complete installation.

    Anyway my questions are outstanding

    1. is there a windows driver 8 for the TV tuner? or can I use the driver windows 7?

    2. my FN keys work, but I did not comment on the screen for windows 8 when I use FN F8 keys to enable or disable the wireless. With windows 7 there are icons that would jump to the top. Is there a software for this?

    Thanks for any help.

Toshiba has provided a research of system of Windows 8.
There you can check if your system can be updated to Windows 8. 1
    http://support.Toshiba-tie.co.jp/windows81/list_au.htm

In case your laptop series isn t listed, the laptop series isn't supported to win 8.1.
This means that the drivers Win 8.1 would not be available too. :(

It really good news that your machine runs on stable even using the Win 7 drivers.

With regard to the return to the screen button FN:
This part is controlled by Toshiba function Key Utility to win 8.1

This tool is available for several other new series laptop and that's why I recommend you to install these software released for other series.
