Telnet Cisco SF300-08

Hello guys... I just bought this switch last week. I tried Telnet that swtich using my laptop (windows 7 64-bit), but I failed. I suspect that this problem came from my laptop because I do not change the default ip of the switch.

There are 2 things that Ive been trying to solve this problem:

1) start--> Panel--> programs--> click on 'turn windows features turn on or off'--> tick "telnet client".

(2) start--> '"research services--> telnet--> startup type to"automatic ".

but stil I can't telnet switch. The error is "could not open connection to the host on port 23: Connect failed"

Please help me. Thank you

Hi Hafiz, by default the switch does not accept telnet connection. Log in to the GUI then go to security-> TCP/UDP services and check the box for telnet and apply.

If this does not work then, it is a problem with the computer.

  • There is a maximum amount of hosts for Cisco SF300?

    Hello world

    I m using a Cisco (SRW224G4P) SF300 in my network and I m using Vlan´s.

I m a lot of loss of packet´s in the network and the users are facing in the absence of performance.

There are altogether seven switch´s in the network, 6 SF200 Cisco as 'access' switch´s and 1 Cisco SF300 as the 'core' switch.

It has almost 170 devices connected to the network, mainly IP cameras, other devices are the DVR´s and the NVR´s, a server a certain stand-alone.

Thing is I m, including the loss of packet´s, and I found this alarm in the SF300:

    2147480831 2012-Jul-06 13:14:45 % of IPFFT-W-SFFTREDYELLOW warning: IP SFFT Table Overflow, aggregated (1)

    2147480831 2012-Jul-06 13:14:45 % IPFFT-W-SFFTREDYELLOW WARNING: IP SFFT Table Overflow

Some people say this switch (SF300) support´s only 100 guests and that s why I m get this alarm and lose packets.

But I can't find the limit of host´s in the specification of the switch in any document from Cisco.

    Think you on this?

There is a limit of 100 guests for this switch?

    Thanks in advance!

    Carlos

Hi Calavalle, the module layer 3 can only the hardware switch 100 until it starts to change software. The switch can support up to 510 IP addresses but anything over 100 have wait performance degradation.

  • Update firmware on Cisco SF300 using CLI

    Hi all!

How can I update the firmware on Cisco SF300 using CLI?

I have download the new Sx300_FW_Boot_1.4.0.88 firmware on the Cisco site. Inside of the archive, I found two files sx300_boot - 13506.rfb and sx300_fw - 14088.ros. If I understand correctly, sx300_fw - 14088.ros is the firmware?

Through the command #copy tftp://mytftp/image image I stored the current firmware in my TFTP

And now I have to use theftp://mytftp/sx300_fw-14088.ros command #copy t for update, right?

This is enough to update the firmware? How can I use another file sx300_boot - 13506.rfb?

    Hello Ivan,.

Below are all the controls you need during the upgrade. Please note that switch stores the 2 images and new firmware would go to a non-active image so you need to position the active image.

    image offtp://mytftp/sx300_fw-14088.ros t #copy

    #show bootvar

    image-x 1.4.0.88

    image-y a.b.c.d.

    #boot image-x SYSTEM

    for the boot code however:

    t #copyftp://mytftp/sx300_fw-13506.rfb boot

After all these commands, you can restart the switch and check the boot code and firmware:

    #show version

    I hope this helps.

  • Route ip SF300

    Hi all

below, that's what I do with the SF300 switch:

I joined a cisco SF300 switch to support failover between GPRS and 3G netwoks between two different sites.

To simulate the installation in our platform, I put the cisco SF300 linked to three computers to simulate 3G, GPRS and internal connections. could you please provide a procedure to begin this work.

NB: I start with a simple configuration; create 3 vlans so I did the road ip between VLANs, that the problem is with ip route that's not possible to ping from one vlan to another, I did the same job with the cisco catalyst and it works but with the SF300 I don't know what the problem is exactly.

Could you please help with that?

    Kind regards

    Hello

Is the main request in this post to establish connectivity L3?

If so, as stated above, configure the switch to be in router mode.

Configure IP addresses on the interfaces of the three VLANs.  If sure them VLANS are rising (trunk port or smart host).  Check that you have IP connectivity to the switch virtual interfaces.  If the switch is the default gateway for the devices on each VLAN, you have basic connectivity VLAN in the VLAN.

  • Security of the port on a SF300 problem

    Hello world

We recently bought a new SF300, the main goal was to using the security of the port as a CNA.

I expect to be able to define a list of allowed MAC addresses, but unfortunately, it is not the case.

I used the "Classic Lock" port security.

knowing that I can't have all the computers being connected at the same time (for cause of displacement), when a person to be allowed is here I am forced to disable security so that the switch can learn its MAC address.

the problem is that when I do, the MAC addresses that are already learned are forgotten if disconnected from the LAN and when someone changes his position in the local network, it is blocked from access to the network.

I remember that my goal is to give access to the network based on the MAC address or the domain name (allow computers part of OurDoamin.com).

N.B: In our architecture, each room has a small switch and these switches are connected "central one" which is the Cisco SF300.

    Thank you.

Dynamic arp for this inspection. Specify a mac IP on the trust list, the client connection to the "secure" ports (meaning subject to inspection of the arp) then do 'secure' interconnection ports (that is, not subject to inspection arp).

I'll tell you one thing... before playing with DAI, make sure to enter at least the host you are using, otherwise you will be hose to the top of this switch.

  • Need help with configuration of VLAN SF300-24

    Hello

Let me Preface this with the fact that networking is certainly not my point hard, so here, any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to segment on a virtual desktop on its own VIRTUAL local network infrastructure using a Cisco SF300-24 Layer 3 switch. I can get the switch to connect to the network with the assigned VLAN 1 an IP address on the subnet of the network (192.168.16.X), but I can't get anything this is set up VLAN 20 (192.168.20.X subnet) to connect past the VLAN 20 (192.168.20.254) gateway IP. The ports assigned to 20 VLAN are defined to access the mode if it matters.

Here is a diagram to illustrate what it looks like, as there is another (L2) switch involved.

So I'm not really sure what I am missing here since all settings seem simple enough.

Hi Simon, I recommend you remove any server active directory and essentially remove all safety factors. This will give the idea of where to start.

If you take a quite basic set, 2 Windows 7 workstations without a Firewall window activated, they both work as expected.

It must be remembered that in firewalls, even if they are able to respond to ICMP if the request is from a different subnet, they will not be because he is recognized as a network abroad. You must know the network on these computers or make sure the computer does not care.

You may be able to do this by simply adding additional subnets on the advanced configuration of the network card (if it does not take too much address space) as an example.

Or well, as you have discovered that you can add routes, which is a bit heavy and inconvienent, but effective.

  • How to configure SF300-24 through an IP network?

    Hai, greeting.

I had followed the step in the Quick Start Guide. I put an IP address static, for example 192.168.1.200 for my computer, but I can't connect to the default IP for Cisco SF300-24.

    Can anyone help?

    Respect for the best...

    Did you check this documentation:

When the device uses the address 192.168.1.254 default IP, its power

The LED flashes constantly. When the device is using a DHCP assigned IP address or

a static IP address configured by the administrator, the power led is lit.

  • Unable connect to the webgui LGS308 crashes at 90% on the treatment of the data

    Hello

I have a LGS308 but I can not connect to the webgui interface more.

The user name and password are correct, but there is a dialog box with the title "Data processing" and a progress bar.

This goes up to 90 percent and crashes there.

Already removed the power and put the power back in, but no result.

Always the same, also tried other browsers, always the same result. (or hangs at 80%).

Is this a known issue? and is there a solution for this?

I really need to reconfigure the switch.

Had the same problem, thanks for the tip on the expiry of telnet/password. Worked fine for me also.

Looks like you can set the password, time-to-live in telnet "cisco" config mode.

    Telnet to the switch

    Opening of session

    Press Ctrl-A

Type "lcli" to the ">" prompt

    Connection again...

    Type "conf t".

    Type "aging 0 passwords"

    Press Ctrl + Z

    Type "wr" to save.

  • Problems with config Small Business switch

Hi, I know that if I read the documentation I will come for answers, but I'd really like some input from someone with more knowledge than me. I have a problem with Cisco SF300, one of the Small Business switches. I have a single interface on my router and I need to separate my internal networks, I thought that one way would be to use VLANs. On my two internal networks a network has D-Link unmanaged switches, the other has the Cisco SF300 I did as follows.

On the Cisco Switch, all of the default ports for ports of junction. I changed FE1-FE24 and GE1-2 to access ports.

Created two VLAN and placed FE1-FE24 in VLAN10 (also my management VLAN), GE3 is a trunk Port for unidentified VLAN20, VLAN 20 uplinks to my DiLink switches. This way my unmanaged switches traffic arrives on a trunk on VLAN20 untagged port.

GE4 is a trunk port and I assigned to VLAN1 untagged, tag VLAN10 VLAN20 tag and. 10 of VLANS and VLAN 20 then to my router.

The plan was to connect GE4 to my router, but I had two things happen that I can't explain.

All first as soon as I connected my D-Link to GE3 LAN on VLAN20 came down, I couldn't ping servers from computers etc, all devices are connected to the D-links unmanaged. Secondly, the responsibilities of VLAN changed on GE3 GE4, VLAN 10 and 20 disappeared and only the VLAN by default was assigned, also under settings VLAN my state of interface VLAN for VLAN20 shows people with reduced mobility. One of my FE12 continues also to change VLAN access ports.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what might have crushed the LAN and why change my VLAN. I wrote my config running at startup configuration incidentally.

    I added two screenshots.

    Seriously, I'd appreciate the help.

    Thank you

    Doubts;

-Where I put the IP addresses of interfaces? SW-core or sw-DIS? or both?

-What are the steps to make this purpose to work?

-I could not activate a tree covering weight in this sw model.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Elisamotta,

Is this requirement you are going to design and implement from scratch.

States of recommendation of normal design with legacy architecture must have three tier architecture with seen fast routing process, Distribution based political switching and access with end layer calculate basic connectivity.

So with devices of distribution best practices should be seen SVI all and routing connectivity with the layer of base to the outside world.

    Hope that helps...

  • Create 2 VLAN (VLAN 1 and VLAN 2)

    Hi all

I need help and advice with my new Cisco SF300-48. I want to create 2 vlan (vlan 1 and vlan 2). The switch is set at layer 2.

    example:

    VLAN 1 (port 1, 2, 3), vlan 2 (port 4, 5, 6)

VLAN 1 can communicate with each other (port 1, 2, 3) and vlan 2 can communicate with each other (port 4, 5, 6)

But vlan 1 cannot communicate with vlan 2.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

    Johan

Well, as far as I understand the message communication between the VLAN is not necessary. The thing is, that all ports LAN VIRTUAL (for example VLAN 1 with ports 1, 2, and 3) cannot communicate with each other. Did you check the configuration of the port / VLAN (VLAN configured to each port configuration right / right about the tag-no identified)?

    Thank you

For the MGBBX1, you use as SFP GLC-BX-D downstream. The MGBBX1 supported upstream only. This module is compatible with the series SX300. The interface module is 1 LC 1000Base-BX.

This is not a two-way sfp.
