Connections of fiber SC, ST, LC

Hi, I have a small request that has been tapped me and I can't find an answer to. What does LC, SC and ST? Thank you.

straight point (ST)

Designation of the "straight edge" connector developed by AT & T. This optical connector physical contact not rotating 2.5 mm ferrule design and coupling adapter with bayonet connector. The case of the bayonet can be metallic, ceramic or plastic. Some call it 'stick and twist' because it's the movement used by attaching it to a device.

Connector of the Subscriber (SC)

Designation of an optical connector featuring a ferrule 2.5 mm physically coming into contact with a coupling of push-pull design. This connector is recommended in the TIA/EIA-568-A standard for structured cabling. This type of optical fiber connector is identified by the square of its plastic case section. Some people call this "snap and click on" or "stick and click on ' because you press them in a device until you hear the click.

fiber connector (CF)

A fiber optic round, threaded connector that has been developed by Nippon Telephone and Telegraph to the Japan. The FC Connector is good for fibre Singlemode or multimode, and applications that require a low back reflection. The CF is a screw - on type connector and is subject to vibration loosening.

Lucent connector (LC)

A connector to factor SC-style of small format with RJ45 type locking mechanism developed by Lucent. See http://www.lcalliance.com for more details.

MT - RJ (RJ's "jack recorded; not sure what MT is)

A factor fiber connector small format which has a high density design and the RJ45 type locking mechanism. GPA / Siecor (now Corning Cable Systems).

I hope this helps.

The 1941 will be fine.  Note that a 891F is likely to be cheaper and will have almost identical performance and comes with all licenses (whereas licenses are an 'extra' for the 1941).

I almost stopped sale of 1941 as a result.

When I connect the fiber on the map of PCI8335, the Tower Mini of PC DELL Vostro 220 Desktop freezes (software, mouse, keyboard)
If, during startup, the fiber is not connected, the PC starts and everything works normally (with the exception of the communication and the application of National Instruments because the fiber is not connected)
If I plug the fiber when the PC is completely started, 2 bright LEDs; then when I run the application, MX-3, the PC freezes.
Map of the PCI-8335 is down or is this another problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi all

The installation still work since my repair on 10 September 2015. After that analysis with National Instruments France, the likely cause of the failure is that, during a power outage (storm or stop because of the fire detection device) the remote PXI chassis stopped but not the PC because it's on the inverter.

/ ! ------PXI / PCI chassis should be launched before the PC; order to operate the 2 switches in the chassis does not matter.

During my last speech (10 September), I so reset the chassis and restart the PC after the chassis (IE in the correct order) and since everything is working. This is the solution.

  • SWR2048: Question optical fiber

Guys, I'm trying to find an answer to a problem

I have a campus that uses about 8 switch SRW2048 around campus.

They will install the fiber between the buildings to improve speed (currently using Ethernet - very slow)

    Here are my questions:

    1. can I connect the fiber-optic lines directly in SRW2048 switches using their ports mini-GBIC, instead of going to a Media Converter and then to the ethernet line?

2 should. what equipment I fill this?

From my understanding, it's doable, but I get lots of different answers to make this work 100%.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Connecting two cisco ESW 500 series switches.

    Hi Experts,

I have a basic knowledge of the network and need help.

I have two switches cisco ESW 500 series and I want to connect with each other.

Q1 # what type of cable should I use to connect these two CrossOver switches or fiber... What is the advantage of the use of fiber on CrossOver. ?

Q2 # what are the ports marked in the image used to...?

    Hi tech spec.

You can use copper or fiber. You can use directly through crossover is not necessary. Fiber is generally more reliable, can offer a higher flow and distances much longer if needed. You will need to buy SFP modules to connect the fiber switches, which is an added expense.

The ports on the right are shared. If you plug a FPS in the far-right for the fiber port, then the port to the left of it becomes idle. Only port copper or SFP port can be used at the same time. In addition, these ports are usually used for the uplink to another switch or router.

This is the network driver for this adapter for VMware vSphere 5.1

    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=3913538&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3DswEnvOID%253D4141%257CswLang%253D%257Caction%253DlistDriver&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

The current version of the driver is: 5.0.636 (February 18, 2014)

It is possible update 2, put in a new driver by default in it or put a driver that simply doesn't work properly with this network adapter.  Is this the only nic you use iSCSI for?

You should really spread your connections on two just physical NICs wrap one of the network adapters fail so you don't lose your iSCSI connection unless you can suffer a loss to your iSCSI and it's not a big deal.

Here's the Vmware KB article how to check which version of the driver of network that you are currently using:

VMware KB: Determine what storage driver or network is actively exploited on ESXi host

The document talks using the update command to update the driver, but it is my experience that its better to just do an uninstall / install, but you can try the update, assuming that this is a driver update.  I have a feeling it will be a lower version than what is currently in place.

You will use the following command to install or update:

software esxcli vib install zipfilenameofdriver d

    or

esxcli update software vib - v vibfilenameofdriver

I also found some installation instructions in the zip file

    Hope this has helped

  • ESXi connection to the Windows SFU NFS data store

We plan to install 3 servers ESXi with virtual machines hosted on local.  A backup script align the images and move the *.vmx and *.vmdk to a NFS data store located in separate facilities which are connected via fiber.  All connections are links of 1 G.  The NFS data store will be hosted on w2k3 with SFU (Microsoft Services for Unix).

The NFS data store will be a target for cloning and will be located in a building separated for "geographical separation."  I tested with Veema FastSCP (the public beta)... it's ok (30Mbytes/sec).  I assume that the clone process will take about 5 hours - but we can tolerate the performance hit after opening hours.

Question:  Is there a "traps" to know by linking each ESXi server in the same directory NFS exported using SFU?  Perhaps more to the point... no problem with ESXi and Windows SFU?

Before anyone asks... we do this on a 'super-thin budget' (that is to say... $ 0) using existing hardware, otherwise I would have ESX Enterprise and SAN storage!

Some discussions to look at on the performance.

  • Slow download Mac App Store on Unifi?

    Hello

    I have a Macbook Pro 15 "mid 2012 with"

    El Capitan 10.11.6

    I7 Quad - core 2.3 GHz

    8 GB RAM

512 MB Nvidia Geforce GT 650M

Evo 850 500 GB SAMSUNG SSD

Mac App store is pretty slow lately. I have a connection optical fiber Unifi 30Mbps (but speedtest he registered as 60Mbps http://www.bandwidthplace.com/results/579c6e073bf641.88824201-50624087.png).

The problem is that it's very slow. I did everything I could to hang up:

    1. change the dns. fact.

2 clear the dns cache. fact.

    3. set the certificate CRL off keychain. fact.

4 restart the app store. fact.

    5 restart the computer. fact.

6 change the router to 50 beacon interval. fact.

    7 reboot the router. fact.

If only I have the IP or the domain name for the download address and ping it to I can know whether it is the latency time. If this is true, it is the fault of the ISP. I want to ping this address and solve this problem at the ISP.

Restart your internet modem and restart the router again and your Mac then try the App store.

  • because I downloaded the 7.0.1 version it takes forever to reach any site

I downloaded the 7.0.1 version recently and since then, the browser appears to hang when you try to reach any url. Sometimes it is faster but on average, it may take MINUTES or never reach the page. I also use GoogleChrome and access is instant. My connection is fiber optic wide Bank, 6 mb, so this isn't a problem. In recent years, FireFox is my favorite browser, but if this problem persists I'll be forced to use an alternative one.

The default value of the pref Network.http.Max - connections has been increased from 30 up to 256 in versions of Firefox 6 +.

You can try to decrease the value of the pref Network.http.Max - connections from 255 to a setting more modest as 30 such as used in versions of Firefox 3.

  • HPJ610a Deskjet 3050: Join the network wifi through router new Deskjet 3050 HPJ610a

I moved into an area of network connected to fiber (NBN Australia) and installed a new router D-Link DIR - 850L.  I was unable to connect to the router using WPS.  I had to buy a HP Envy, which connected wtihout difficulty.  I just upgraded my router to a TP - Link Archer C9, with a richer control interface, so I tried again to connect my Deskjet 3050.  Once again, no luck.

I read a number of posts about this, and they all back down to the re-use of your installation of the printer software.  The problem is that the software driver for OS X El Capitan comes from Apple and is already up-to-date. I am able to run the printer when it is connected by a USB cable, so if I could work out how to emulate an installation, I might be able to get connected.  Is it possible to do this?

    Hello

Sorry for jumping in, but the steps in Mac OS X are in fact incorrect.

In System Preferences, select Printers and scanners.

Double-click the listed USB printer, and then select the printer settings / Options.

Open the Utilitiy tab, and then click Open Utility.

In the screen, select Convert to wireless and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the pritner to your wireless network.

Note: If no option appears, click the top phone menu and select Connect a new printer, and then follow the steps by choosing a wireless connection.

    Kind regards

  • incomplete MP4 to additions of iMac

I need to regularly upload videos MP4 I create on a site server Web Weebly to my iMac via my connection optical fiber directly to my internet service via an ethernet/WiFi router. Any file on about 70 MB download normally at first, then just stop downloading and hangs anywhere on the point of 50 to 90 percent.

So far, Weebly server operators have checked at their end and can find no problem with my Web site access and routing and data flow in their server. Their solution was for me to download the same video clips on Dropbox, which they take to Dropbox and then upload them to my site for me - it works, but constantly asking them to do that to me is the engine we all go berserk. Others (all unsuccessful) the measures taken to solve the problem of incomplete download including - using another computer in my office to access the site server to download, using another browser, using a WiFi instead of cable ethernet connection, using an iPad, reformat the .mov to .mp4 file, because my internet provider check my connection to their end and close my firewall and antivirus. Nothing works... the download sequence stops just a random moment with no warning every time. A test of speed of my internet connection generally shows download speed of 95 MB/sec and 36 mb/s upload speed. The fact that I can download exactly the same files on Dropbox seems to indicate that the problem is specifically with my connection to the Weebly system only, but they usually have thousands of video downloads runs hourly from other users around the world with no reported problems, it seems to indicate a kind of mystery problem at my end.

People desperate to try anything you can think of...

FWIW, whereas you can download successfully to DropBox and apparently impossible to successfully download using different methods to their servers and your ISP has no problem, I'd say people of Weebly are incorrect in their assessment that it isn't them.

  • Nighthawk D7800 and BT Infinity 2

My first time here so apologies for any errors of Protocol.

I bought the Nighthawk to replace my BT Homehub 3 and a modem to connect to broadband Infinity 2 (fiber).

I managed to connect to the internet via the BT modem so I know the system works. What I want to do is to connect the modem to the Nighthawk directly to the internet. I don't think that this can be done unless someone can tell me otherwise.

I, the tongue in cheek, contacted BT and confirmed that they use a system of wiring on the telephone connection to connect to fiber (FTTC) via the copper to the home line, which is unique. The phone connector uses only the Center contacts both in the plug, connected to which wires I don't know, while the Nighthawk uses all four threads, it seems. BT does not use a filter on the line because it is built in the area of incoming phone line. So the Nighthawk can only connect directly from the VDSL Jack to the telephone line. The internet connection on the Nighthawk decision-making only connects to the BT modem.

So, is it possible to connect to the fiber using the Nighthawks modem? I've conversed with support from Netgear and in their described wisdom and got sent - the manual method of Nighthawk, which I already explained did not have what I wanted. I'm still waiting for a further response from support, but not holding my breath.

It seems that I bought a very expensive router!

    Michael,

    Popular sympathy.

My Nighthawk played happily with internet provided that I have connected through my BT modem. The reason why I got the D7800 was because I wanted to use it a modem not BT proposing to connect to my fiber (sic, English).

I don't think right now that Netgear has a modem that is able to connect to the infinite fiber BT service.

I think I'll draw a line under this thread and concede defeat.

    Thank you

  • 2014 mac mini can play a sound in my sound bar?

Hello and thanks in advance. I use my Mac mini to 2014 as a HTPC, I'm having the hardest time trying to get my mini play sounds through my bar of the Harmon Kardon SB16. Currently I have the mini connected via HDMI to the tv and optical ranging from the soundbar in tv. Works great, but my goal is to control the volume using the keyboard instead of using the TV remote. I tried the optical toslink cable from the soundbar in 3.5 mm jack at the rear of the changed mini settings in sound through system suggestions as well as the MIDI parameters in the application in utilities. In the system prefs it shows optical but no master volume and needless to say, not only no sound. I thought that the 3.5 mm jack plug served as a helmet and s/pdif digital output. Do I need a DAC converter any to have this capability? I was looking in the Music Streamer technologies of high resolution of THS lll I called audio shops I found online and all said call Apple that I find strange, given that many people use Mac/PC for the sound through stereo receivers. The soundbar has several types of connection coaxial, fiber optics and source 1 rca red white. I think that this is possible only with a stereo receiver. Sorry for my ignorance on this, but I'm at my wits end, trying to find a solution. My bar of his 2.1 has amazing sound and not looking forward to buying a receiver to have this feature.

    LLL of stream music

Cable to connect the soundbar to mini.

You can. Looks like sound bar has an analog connection (source a) with a connection to the left and to the right. All you need is to get a cable with on one side a Jack 3.5 mm to connect the headset to your mini. And the other side 2 taken. One to connect to each Source 1 connections. That should do it

  • IP address on the cell phone?

I have a question and couldn't find a definitive answer, so I'm here. As the line object suggests, cell phones have an IP that are associated with them, if I'm NOT using a wifi connection?

For example, if I visited a forum I am a member and do not connect, is not the forum would know it of me? Would they see as something associated with Verizon? How does it work?

System/network/security engineer by trade, I do not know what as a fingerprint.

If you visit a web site, the web server sees your IP address. If you come on the WiFi from home your IP address usually maps near your location - at least on the State level. If your IP address is working and your work is giant Corporation, your IP address may map to a head office in another State.

If you use 3G (or 4 mythical g) then you hit a cell tower, which is connected by fiber or copper back to your cellular provider office is close and then usually connected by fiber to one of their main offices where you arrive finally on the internet. It's our main office, that the IP address of your phone is usually associated - if you are on AT & T, which is repeatedly Dallas, Texas.

Many web sites may report that your IP address and where they think you are are:

http://whatismyipaddress.com/ is a site, but there are many others. Keep in mind that any physical location data connection can get embusked quickly and companies pay other companies to constantly updated lists of what the IP is there - way phone numbers get reused and assigned to different people on different streets.

In regards to Web sites remember who you are if you do not have to connect - this is done with cookies and MrNoSox said. Some sites also use Flash Shared Objects, which are Flash cookies. cookies operate on all browsers and no matter what type of connection. Your IP address is recorded as well, but sites assume that it passes between the visits and allowing cookies on your computer - so regardless of the connection mode, they see the cookie and know it is come back you.

Some customer companies of using cookies and IP address block - this is why Canadian users cannot watch HULU.com - the ip address corresponds to the Canada and they can get a deposited cookie on their machine too - but most often they are only blocked by its IP address - whole countries can be blocked.
