  • How can I remove selected Custom view (s) of the event viewer Console tree?

I looked at the MMC Help on create and manage custom views.

I can't find a way to remove the custom filter views in the Console tree, which can be found on the left side of the event viewer.

How can I remove selected Custom view (s) when they serve no more values?

    Problem solved

I asked this question because I was unable to see what was going on in the event viewer and I couldn't find help in mmc HTML Help. However, now I see what's happening and I can give you a solution to my own question.

    Cause

If I connect to the computer as a user with administrator privileges, I am able to use the event viewer to create a custom view filter that can be used by all users who have access to the event viewer. If I fix remove a view filter custom Console tree, I can't delete it unless I'm logged in as the user who created it.

    Solution

    1. Log the computer as the user who created the custom view.
    2. Start Event Viewer
    3. Use the right-click of the mouse on a custom view filter selected in the Console tree, open the drop down menu.
    4. Delete appears fourth in the bottom of the menu if and only if you are logged on as the user who created this view.
    5. Select Remove to remove the filter to custom view.

If Delete does not appear in the drop-down menu, then it may not possible you connect as the user who created the custom view.

  • Grid Console and Console Configuration change?

I installed the grid 10.2.0.5 Console, and now I look at the Configuration Change Console URL (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/config_control.html) I was wondering if I need to install this as well.

It seems that the grid console has all the management packs, so maybe that change the Configuration Console is a stand-alone product (i.e. I want only the side of change management and not all of the grid control?)

Can someone clarify if I am mistaken in this?

    Concerning

    Stuart.

    Yes Stuart,

the Configuration Change Console is a stand-alone product, which must be installed separately.

It will be fully integrated with the Consol OEM in a future release.

  • Change an IP of ESX Service Console

I have a KB that explains this process and it is said to remove the host to vCenter. I could do with the virtual machines on the hosts, but I think I'll lose all record of performance for those VMs. The alternative is to migrate all virtual machines off the coast of the host before withdrawing. I spoke in support and stressed told the KB to remove guests but, they said that I should be able to disconnect and reconnect the host for the change of intellectual property.

I try to avoid moving VMS around for it because it's going to take more time and require a different level of approvals. I thought if I could just disconnect and reconnect now, I could delete/re-add the hosts later in my next cycle of patch.

1 does anyone know if the withdrawal of the army is necessary for the Service Console IP change. I know that a disconnect/reconnect will work I did in the past, but I'm not clear if there is something not update or which does not work properly until you remove/re-add.

  • How to change address MAC of Console of Service?

Our network department wants the MAC addresses to create DHCP reservations for all systems with a fixed IP address.

We have provided all service consoles virtual MAC addresses on our ESX 3.5 U4 machines. This method works.

After reinstalled an ESX after a failure of the drive, our MAC service console has changed. I am looking for a way to configure the MAC address of the former esx Server installation.

    Is it possible somehow?

    Edit/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-vswif0 and restart the network.

After the link I have given, you should be able to correctly move things.  You will however need to be standing in front of the console or have some sort of connection available as remote ILO or DRAC console.

When you are finished, you must restart pass

  • Prevent the user account to change the time? Policy and security?

    I came across this site:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/113557-date-time-allow-prevent-users-groups-changing.html

    I followed him.

So, I logged in using the account that I am limited. It worked like a charm. I can't change the date and time. But problem, using the limited account, I can also access the "secpol.msc" and change the settings. If the person that I have limited knows how to make their account able to change the date and time using the secpol.msc, so it would be useless.

What can I do to prevent some users from accessing the "secpol.msc"?

    Hi Erebore,

Please follow the steps below and check to prevent certain users to access secpol.msc

    1. To open the local security policy MMC snap-in, click Start, type secpol.mscand press ENTER.
    2. In the console tree, double-click Application control policies, and then double-click AppLocker.

    3. Right-click executable rulesand then click create default rules.

    4. Three rules are created and listed in the Details pane of the MMC console:
    • To allow all users to run files in the default Program Files folder.
    • To allow all users to run files in the Windows folder.
    • Allow members of the built-in Administrators group to run all the files.

When you create these three rules, you automatically prevent all administrator users to run programs that are installed in their user profile folder.

I hope this helps. Back to us for any additional information on the question above. We are happy to help you!

  • Change password on ESXi host 5 root in vSphere Cluster

I would like to change the root password on my ESXi 5 hosts that are in a cluster of vSphere. I can just go into the console and change the password? The traps?

Basically, the root password is only required for the initial connection, after this vCenter Server uses the account vpxuser to communicate with the host. However, according to for example ESXi root password change vCenter connectivity and there could be reasons of "update" the password (i.e. to reconnect the host). Not sure whether it's design or a bug! Maybe it's that note in the article you mentioned refers to.

  • How to change the database of weblogic IP/Hostname?

Our current development middleware stack contains:

WebLogic, WebCenter, WebTier, and OAM all pointing to the same repository of db oracle via an IP address (because of host name resolution problems.)  Unfortunately the database server's IP has changed and I cannot start the weblogic administration console to change the IP address of the database.

    «"" "Guide to Oracle: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10105/host.htm#CHDBBIAH »»»"

    Excerpt:

Task 5 changing the system Data Source

If you use the IP address in the data source definition, modify the system data source to use the new IP address for the metadata repository. To do this, you use the Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console:

Extract to start the WebLogic administration Console:

    < 27 August 2013 21:52:03 CEST > < WARNING > < JDBC > < BEA-001129 > < receipt exception creating connection to pool "SDM-CustomPortalDS": IO error: the network adapter could not establish the connection. >

For this particular case, we can simply reinstall the entire stack but would prefer a clean resolution.

There seems to be two issues here. The console is just a request, so I'll assume

what you mean is that the Server WebLogic himself primer not, probably because some

essential service depends on your data source, your data source cannot deploy, and this is the config insists

on an initial capability greater than zero...

Then, go to your config/jdbc directory, subdirectory of the main domain and for each data source

you have, there will be an .xml file. Edit each file that represents a data source for the affected

DBMS and change the URL of a given driver, to have the good, DBMS new machine name/IP address.

Then try to restart WebLogic and see if you're OK...

  • Change password for user "root".

I started watching Orchestrator, and I was asked to change the password for the 'vmware' and another 'administrative account"(don't know what it is) when I clicked on Configuration Orchestrator. I clicked on Configuration of the device several times and I have not been invited to reset the 'root' password, I am still able to connect with "vmware" as password. Is it possible for me to connect to via vCenter Orchestrator console and change the password to root via the command line? Or is it possible to force him to ask me to reset the password for the "root"?

If you are able to connect to the vCO Device Configuration using the root / vmware, he should also be able to connect to the console via vCenter as root. Once logged in, simply type passwd and press on enter, then enter your new root pw.

  • ESXi 4 - changing IP and host name

Are there any known issues or needed additional steps beyond to enter the ESXi configuration console to change the host name and the IP of the server ESXi 4 existing (4.0 U2) and import in vCenter if physically move one envirment to another server (i.e. a Server Blade environment vsphere 4 test to another box to Prod vSphere 4)?  Or are there additional steps necessary?

Also, would there be problems within ESXi if just to swap hard drives, if the servers are of the same model (i.e. blades HP dl480 G6)

It's a fairly simple process to change the name of host or IP address - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1006710.  If the host is currently bound to vCenter you can remove everything first.  Then you'll just join the host of your vCenter production after your changes in the same way that you would join a new host.  You can check the file on ESXi hosts to make sure that the host name is updated correctly and see if all custom entries has been added.

You can swap disks, but you may need to correct assignments NIC after and you will need to check things if you use remote storage.  ESXi also uses the MAC address of the vmnic0 for the MAC from the management port so you'll want to update that to avoid the possibility of duplicate MAC address should end up with the two hosts on the same subnet.

  • vSphere cannot connect after time on the host change

I am a relative noob when it comes to virtualization.  I did a lot of research for the response, but can't find it.  Maybe you guys can help.

Connected to the host (VMWare vSphere for ESXi 4.0) management console, I changed the time on the host because he was distant.  After that, the vSphere console has become very slow, and when I clicked on another tab it has expired.

I closed vSphere and tried to reconnect and now I have a message that says:

vSphere could not connect with the server vCenter Server "[host IP address] '.

Details: A connection failure has occurred (unable to connect to the remote server)

I went directly to the physical console machine and press F2 to enter the system setup.  I restarted the management agent.  I can ping the IP address.  I can not connect via puTTy, but I do not think that I never activated the SSH access.

Has anyone ever encountered this?  What should I do?  I can't restart the host right now because the production servers are running on the VMWare.  If I have to restart later, what is the correct procedure for this? (close the BONES of the VM, and then restart the host?)

I had this happen before. I was unable to restart the services or navigate from the console. I waited until hours off-peak and connected directly in the less critical guest OS and stop them. I had to stop several before I could get access again vcenter. Once I had access i vMotioned the rest of the guests to other hosts and restarted the ESXi host. It's a risk, because if you cannot close machines you have to powercycle. You seem to have access, so you can be able to stop them from the CLI on the host.

  • Location of the service after upgrade to vSphere Console

In December, I improve VMWare VCenter and servers ESX, vSphere 4.0 3.5 u1. I then discover that my Service on hosts 3 Console, have changed rather than the local store, to a shared SAN store. I can find it, is the only workaround:

    de : http://www.VMware.com/support/vSphere4/doc/vsp_esx40_vc40_rel_notes.html

If you choose a store of data shared for the service console, the installation or upgrade of software tool does not issue a warning

For ESX 4.0, the service console must be installed on a VMFS datastore that resides on the local host drive or on a drive of SAN which is masked and zoned on that particular only host. This version does not support the installation of the service on a data store console that is shared between the hosts. When you install ESX 4.0 or upgrading to ESX 4.0, you must select a store location of VMFS data for the service console (esxconsole.vmdk). If you select a data store that is shared between the hosts, the installation tool or software upgrade does not issue a warning.

Workaround: Do not install the service on a VMFS datastore console shared between hosts.

Is there someone who can tell me, how to move the service console?

    Best regards

    Peter

I do not think that it is possible to move the ESXConsole.

    Read this post http://communities.vmware.com/thread/214439

The easiest way is to reinstall GUESTS concerned with access to SAN.

In this way, that you don't have the ability to install ESXConsole on SAN disks.

I googled and found this post that explains how to handle the ESXConsole, maby this will help you.
