Consuming too much battery juice

After the update if trac 132 MB... xt1068 carried out up to now but... the question is when I'm playing some 'in-LINE' games of overheating... Can anyone give a solution for this?

Thanks in advance... budiees...

A pop up message that says that the device is overheating? Its normal to get warm during any kind of game because of the additional constraints on the RAM and the CPU, and the screen at the time.

  • Firefox consumes too much RAM, caused by js

I have problems with Firefox consumes too much memory RAM. Many people are complaining about this, but I have done some additional research before posting here, using the about command: memory and I discovered that js-no-window and js-main-runtime are the cause.

When I start an empty Firefox session I immediately an allowance of 260 MB of RAM. About 75-80% this is taken up by these two processes of js (javascript?).

After opening about 10 tabs with different Web pages, the use of the RAM went up to about 750 MB. During the time that the tabs are open most of the extra of the MB are consumed by the window objects (40 MB per page, yet much seems to just a news with an article site...) but after their closing will not use of memory to the bottom and he transferred to the two already mentioned js process. This transfer to the js process is not always the case, it seems to happen if I open a lot of tabs, let's say 10 + maybe.

I tried to disable Javascript using the SettingSanity plugin, but makes navigation difficult at home of course and the worst of all this does not solve the problem. Specified processes continue to use the same amount of RAM.

I have this same problem on all my computers and laptops, so it can't be a coincidence. Is there anything I can do about it? It is being investigated? How a browser with 10 open web pages may need almost 800 MB of RAM?

And please don't reply not to "install more RAM". The pc with the fact that I have more problems has 2 GB of physical RAM and I really don't think it is possible on a computer of this logon type 10 web pages. Do the same thing in Internet Explorer consumes less than half the amount of memory RAM.

PS: I sent this request using IE because I could ' t access this page in Firefox. The button 'Ask the question' did not work...

I have 2 GB Ram too and can open up to 20-30 tabs before slowing down. Maybe it could be an addon like Adblock more which can cause the memory leak.

Also in this article is to disable hardware acceleration, which can reduce the CPU and RAM use on some systems (if it doesn't, turn it back on).

the first query uses the predicate "XDT_DOCTYPE" = "PURCHASEORDER" to determine the order of the index IDX_XDT_N7, which needs to be scanned, and uses the other predicates to filter most of the index blocks. The second query uses an INDEX SKIP SCAN without consider the first column of the index IDX_XDT_N4 and use the predicates for the following columns ('a'. ("XDT_DOCOWNERPAYPK"= 1202829132 AND "XDT_DOCTYPE" = "PURCHASEORDER") to get a much more selective access (reading only 330 blocks instead of > 60 K).

I think that there are two possible options to improve performance:

    1. If the creation of a new index is an option, you can define an index on the table A (xdt_doctype, xdt_docownerpaypk, xdt_createdt)
    2. If the creation of a new index is not an option, you can use an indicator of INDEX SKIP SCAN (INDEX_SS (an IDX_XDT_N4)) to order the CBO to use the second index (without a hint the CBO tends to ignore the possibility of using a SKIP SCAN in a join of NL). But with production advice is rarely a good idea... 11g you could you baselines sql to avoid these indications in the code.

  • VDisk consuming too much disk space

I am running the latest beta with Win7 64 bit for host and client.

In the client, my main drive looks like this size:

    client_disk_size.JPG

If you do the math (99, 9-56, 2 = 43.7), my virtual disk should consume ~ 44 GB of disk space. However, it is more close to 83GB (and growing).

    size_on_host.JPG

When I try to clean the drive, I get a message that the disc is used 79.8 GB and can not be cleaned everything again.

So, I used the compact function, and after 30 minutes ended, he doesn't drive OVER 4 GB, small.

It is a problem for me because I have little disk space on my fastest drive where I keep the customer files for obvious reasons. Help please?

Did a little more digging. Apparently, this update from McAfee that you see last week, 19, included a feature to encrypt my hard drive. I don't know why this would have caused a problem today (and not in the last week), but I wonder whether a hard drive that is encrypted in the virtual machine, which means my entire 100 GB should get distributed.

  • Dllhost.exe consumes too much physical memory and execution of 25% of CPU

Dllhost.exe use high memory Usages. How to solve this problem?

    Hi Brendan,

Did you recent hardware or changes to the software to the computer before the show?

Dllhost.exe is a process belonging to Microsoft Windows Operating System. The dllhost.exe file manages DLL based applications. This program is important for the stable and safe running of your computer and should not be terminated. DLLhost using lots of CPU may indicate a malware issue.

You can refer to Korupulu Maestracci suggestion in the following link and check if it helps.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    I hope this helps.

  • Too much to handle-Help!

I have a desktop imac with the following specifications:

    OSX ver 10.9.5

    Intel Core i7 3.4HHz

    Memory: 8 GB at 1333 MHz DDR3

    My problems are:

    1. Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel take a long time to get on my screen.

    2. I also get the message that I ran out of memory for the application.

    3. I have to restart my computer in other applications, because I get the color wheel.

    4. I thought I erased everything related with Norton, but I always get a reminder to renew whenever I start.

I hope that's not too much, but I appreciate your comments.

    Thank you

    2. I also get the message that I ran out of memory for the application.

Maybe it's the origin of many of your problems.

    There could be 2 causes.

    (1) your startup disk is out of space, and OS X can create is more / var/vm/swapfile (s)

    (2) the collection of processes that are running on your system has requested more virtual memory that OS X is ready to handle.  This happens usually when there is a leak of memory in a program.

You should start with Applications-> Utilities-> Activity Monitor and watch your memory usage.  I hope over time, you will notice that one of the applications consume much more memory than anything else.

When your system is starting to exhibit slow performance, but it is still able to do something, run EtreCheck and then after the release in response to this forum.  It is important that you expect from your system approaches of the State where it is either going to give the out of memory performance or the application only allows you to run anything.  If you post the production of EtreCheck of a freshly booted system, it will be not as useful as the system in trouble.

    https://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-6174>

You can conduct an experiment by starting in safe mode

    http://support.Apple.com/kb/ht1564>

Safe mode does not load 3 additions of party, so if they are the problem, you will not see the same performance issues.  HOWEVER, safe mode loads some much more conservative drivers, and the Mac cannot perform fast and have a few flickering screen.  But if you can live with that period of time where a system booted normally would start to misbehave, safe mode could give you an indication that it is 3rd party additions.

In addition, EtreCheck will show 3rd party additions, including any residual Norton Utilities that hang around.

The forum long term contributors is discouraged unnecessary utilities unnecessary anti-virus Mac apps cleaner and useless apps expanding.  It has been our experience that all contribute to the performance of OS X problems and in some cases of the core OS X gets crazy.

Another thing you can do is watch the Applications-> Utilities-> Console app for frequent of the journal entries, as a process that starts, dies, starts, dies, starts, dies, wash, rinse, repeat.  A dying like that process can consume a lot of resources, but do not appear in the activity monitor, neither an EtreCheck report.

  • Sampling rate - too much data points

    Hello community,

I use a sensor signal strength of pressure on DAQmx labview through 2014. My rate from the hardware synchronization function is 50 KHz. The samples per channel of timing and read screws are the same set to 5 Khz when the channels are a continuous sampling. The problem I'm having is that when I run labview for a few seconds, say 5 seconds, I'm half million points of data. I tried to run for 10 seconds and points were more than a million where it is difficult to analyze. I think that the vi generates too much data points and the buffer is large. Am I wrong? Can you please help me solve this problem?

    Kind regards

    Mike

You are now ready to learn a little of the power of LabVIEW and data flow programming.  LabVIEW is an inherently parallel language - two loops can run independently and in parallel, allowing you to make time-sensitive (such as sampling data) and a lot of time (such as data logging and tracing) at the same time, using queues to pass data between the loops and ensure the buffering required.

If you open LabVIEW and click on the file menu in the toolbar, and then select new... (the points are important!), you will be able to create new ones (VI) from the model.  Choose a Framework, Design Patterns, producer/consumer Design Pattern (data).  It's what you want to do.

You basically set up a "pure DAQ Acquisition Loop" (without logging TDMS) as producer, creation of 5000-element arrays of data every tenth of a second (if you are sampling at 50 kHz).  You create a queue of data outside the loop of producer whose elements are an array of 1 D of waveforms (the output of your Read DAQmx) and instead to send the data to a waveform graph, you put it in the queue.

You are under this loop, a parallel loop that gets the same queue and remove items.  This loop will be sitting idle (no time taking CPU) until the data is queued.  He then it takes away the poster and registers (logs) in a PDM file.  Either way, you should open the TDMS file before entering this loop (consumer), write to the file inside the loop and close the file when the loop exits.  Study the example of the VI, you create with the model and see how it works.

The beauty of this is that you can certainly 'keep up' with the writing of the data points in a TDMS file to 50 kHz.  You might not be able to display all the points, but there is nothing to prevent you from data processing (by, say, decimating or "block average" it) to a more 'user-friendly' display (your eyes ' sees' a 50 KHz signal?) -you have a set of 100 msec prior to the next package arrives in the queue.  Also note that the loop of producer probably takes very little time CPU - most of the time the material is waiting for its clock to 'tick', collection of points in a buffer, then transferring to the loop.

Now you can have your cake and the computer display, too.

  • How much battery is used while you sleep?

    Laptop Toshiba, Win7.

Unofficial tests on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61p (Windows 7) d MacBook

    http://Lifehacker.com/5526542/how-much-battery-life-does-sleep-mode-really-drain

FYI - Windows Vista power management

Standby mode consumes battery power, although much less than normal on the State. If the computer is in "sleep" while being powered by the battery and the battery charge runs out, the computer turns completely off and lose the open programs and documents in memory. In this case, any changes to documents which were not yet recorded on the disc would be lost.

Hybrid sleep provides an extra measure of convenience. If the battery of the computer becomes completely discharged when the computer is in hybrid sleep mode, the state saved in the computer's memory will be lost, but Windows will be able to recover the state saved from HDD - although a little more slowly.

  • By the last updated 21/07/2015, where is the + in the message pane? The message pane takes up too much real estate.

I like the very compact message pane. In the last updated 21/07/2015, the '+' disappeared and the message pane takes too much space. I'm willing to change Thunderbird mail readers.

Please put ultra compact/a '+' back a.s.a.p. I tried ALL the tools and Menus for this already.

The + and - are from an add on which you installed to sometimes called Compact Headers. That add needs to be updated to work with the new version of Thunderbird.
Go to add it on the page and are looking for Compact headers. There is a new version that works with versions of Thunderbird 37 to 40.

FYI: People, answer the questions here are users like you and really don't care what email client you use. Make a threat to stop using free software isn't really a threat.

iCloud drive holds shadow copies of all the files on your Mac so you can always access your documents, even in offline mode. It is supposed to keep your documents synced to your devices, not as only an off-site storage to save space on the mac.

You can't stop the shadow - on iCloud drive all files will be downloaded to your Mac, if you enable iCloud drive.

If you want to iCloud drive as an external storage without the shadow, don't turn on your Mac, but only use the web interface at www.iCloud.com to download and view the documents there. But then you will not be able to see iCloud drive as a drive in the Finder.

  • Photo library take too much space even with active iCloud

I am paying to iCloud and I have hundreds of GB available, yet my iPhone 5 c is constantly telling me I'll have storage problems, mainly caused by the photo library, containing several GB.  I have iCloud library enabled, as well as the option 'optimize iPhone storage '.  Photos latest have already transferred in my library, so I know that photos download correctly and not late, but why the library still takes so much space?

    Because it is.

If you have used all available space on your phone, you need to remove some content on the phone.

The setting "Optimize phone Storage" is not magic. Your phone still has a finite amount of space. It may be that pictures should be removed, but it will be something.

Check the settings > general? Use storage & icloud. Look what's too much your space.
