Content of the USB accidentally in the trash can

Some how I accidentally placed the entire contents of a USB drive into the trash.

Whenever I insert the disc, its contents appear in the trash.

I don't want to delete the contents of the usb drive.

How can I delete the contents of the trash and keep it on the USB key?

Kind regards...

Open the Recycle Bin and drag the files from the disk to another location on it.

  • Empty the trash CAN´t

    Hi all

    I have the following problem:

I have some files in the trash can´t be deleted. When I try to empty the trash, I get the message... Cannot delete because the files are in use. File names contain non-standard characters, but I could rename their 'a', 'b' and so forth, then the files were deleted, files not - they are still displayed. On the terminal that they (folders!) do not appear, that is, the command "ls - al 'displays only the default directories'. 'and'.. 'in the folder'.» The basket", but the Finder displays the directories.

When you start in safe mode the Finder displays an empty the trash (?). I have tried almost everything, including:

    • "chflags-r nouchg" and tips on the Apple web page
    • rm - rf ~ /. Trash / * (in combination with sudo)
    • Remove ".". Basket"and made a new folder. Trash
    • etc etc.

far "files from the Recycle Bin" in the "." Trash"are still alive when to start normally. Does anyone have an idea of what has past and how can I get an empty the trash can again?

    Greetings from the Germany

Please, open the Recycle Bin and select the items that you cannot delete. Make a right click or Ctrl-click. In the context menu, select

    Delete immediately...

    Confirm when prompted.

    Hello Daniel,.

The trash is called trash. It is easy to restore the Recycle Bin on your desktop:

In the Vista Start menu search window, type customization and click this item in the results, or press ENTER.

On the upper-left corner of the page, click on Change desktop icons.

Now, click on the box next to the item from the Recycle Bin to add a check mark.  Click OK and exit the control panel.

What is the shortcut key to restore deleted files or folders from Recycle locker back to its original location? In fact, I'm not allowed to use the right click option in my office and I deleted some content in the Recycle Bin I want to restore.

    Please suggest!

In this case, I recommend that you talk with the it staff at your workplace, explain the situation and ask to give you the features you want.  If they don't, ask them to restore the files for you.

  • Time Machine deleted messages on an external drive to the trash can on iMac are taking place on the hard drive?

I am struggling with a computer, try to empty the trash with 1million 300,000 Time machine backup files. It runs for two days now and won't install. At this rate, I'll need a week before my computer becomes viable. I don't feel able to go to the Terminal to do the trick. Also at this point, I'm afraid to stop the process again... Backups on an external drive of pigs 400 GB on my drive hard imac... I have so little room to work right now. I deleted some 200,000 files already yet the storage on my imac HD has not moved. The files in the Recycle Bin of the external drive really live on my hd now until they will be deleted if all goes well before Christmas?

I have a new computer to come next week so I'm wondering if I'll just reformat my entire hd in my imac to solve this problem... Any ideas?

You do all this in the Finder?

Time Machine has to delete the files from the user interface, normally "browsing Time Machine backup", navigate to the desired folder, and select the option "delete all backups of...» ». This is the approved way that should work.

If you are manually dragging the items in the trash of in a Time Machine backup, it can choke. Time Machine stores data with many levels of access control permissions & Finder seems to have difficulties to remove to empty the trash. In fact, I think that the TM drive has limits to prevent normal users to change data on this disk.

Personally, I think your safest option is to abandon the process, restart, erase and reformat the Time Machine drive. Who will lose all history backups but again in a clean condition seems to be better than trying to manually prune the Time Machine data. Time Machine removes old backups when it is full - so you shouldn't really need to intervene like this anyway.

Wait and see if anyone has a better idea.

P.S., each disk has its own "basket", so doing drag items should not fill your Mac startup disk. Maybe the operating system is out of memory, try to process all the files, exit other applications & see if that changes anything, you may have to wait just if you want to avoid to abandon the process.

  • El Capitan Mail - content of the message can be seen in the Viewer window

I use the classic layout in Mail for Mac OS. The list of messages appears in the mailbox on top with an adjustable bar in the Middle, between the content of the message selected in the list.

Today I moved to the bottom of the window of the splitter bar so I can work with (move, delete, mark as read) a long list of messages in a mailbox. When I did with this project, I was unable to bring the bar of diving to the bottom of the Middle window. This means that I can't see the content of a message that is selected.

The separator bar is moving normally through when you take a small dot in the middle. With the bar at the bottom of the window, the point is gray. I can't enter to move.

I opened a second window of the observer. I returned the same way - the entire list and no content.

I resized the window and tried all the options to display more or less in the header items, etc. No change.

I closed all windows and quit Mail and revived. No improvement.

I restarted my Mac. Still no improvement.

Any suggestions? Outside the call to Apple?

It works very well here. You have to keep pushing the bar upward until the window is reduced to normal. Make sure that the cursor is on the gray point and going on to a horizontal bar with an arrow pointing up.

  • Until I found this thread, I lost 16 months in the Inbox during compacting emails, I went to the trash can and hit restore all, but I can't find them

As I close outlook wxpress yesterday, I got the prompt for compaction. It's been awhile, so I let it start and stop later the computer without checking anything. Today, when I went to check my messages, everthting from 2012 until yesterday was gone. I went in the trash and saw that he was responsible. I have selected to restore a prompt came and I hit restore all. I return wwent into my Inbox and found nothing changed. I searched the web and found this thread and read something about 'with OE not open' and stuff on .bak and .dbx, and fear that I might have screwed up. Where can I find these messages?

You need more than a single click to restore. Here's my answer "keeps" together with the instructions. The party concerned is in blue, but please read all this.

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Recovery methods:

If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Note: If you have new messages in the folder you are go restore, move them to a folder first created user, or they will be lost. They can be moved once the old posts have been restored.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently.

  • How to cancel the "don't show" for confirmation of deletion in the trash

Please can someone tell me how to cancel the option to delete the contents of the trash folder without confirming the deletion. I clicked on "do not show this" when I clicked on emptying the trash and he asked if I really wanted to delete all but now I think that I really need this possibility to check again before I have delete the files. I have looked everywhere but can't find out how to cancel that and cannot find anything here to help either.

If you open Tools/Options/Advanced/general/Config. Editor and copy mailnews.emptyTrash.dontAskAgain in the search box, you will probably see that its value is 'true '. Double-click the preference to false.

  • GRIMBOT webmail I lost functions like delete button and light the contents of the Inbox. It is a computer problem, all three of my browsers have the same problem

Web mail indicates it has mail in my Inbox... but it does not show in the display. I pour the contents in the trash to read the mail.

I lost the function of the button Delete... I have to use the button remove on my keyboard

This problem occurred after I installed several plugins to download youtube videos. I disabled the plugins... I deleted Firefox and reinstalled... no change.

This problem also occurs with IE and Chrome. I guess that's a computer problem.
I confirmed that I have the latest flash installed and running on my computer

Start the computer in Mode safe mode with network support Windows (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if that helps.

  • When I open finder I can't see the trash and I can't seem to find it. How do I find to restore files of it.

I have the MacBook Pro. I used to be able to see the trash in the bottom right of the viewfinder screen. I don't see more. I tried the option "go to", but it tells me that it cannot find the trash folder. How can I find out where the Trashfolder is, so that I can restore the files of it.

    Miglena

In the Finder, first define a window in the mode display column (command-3), then press command-SHIFT-G (the shortcut for go-> go to folder). In the sheet drop-down menu that appears, enter ~ /. Basket and press ENTER. This will open a window showing the contents of the basket of the user. If your machine has only one hard disk or partition on your hard drive, this record reflects the actual content of the trash.

  • Recovery of files that don't appear on the trash after deletion

I accidentally deleted my documents folder. I found the file to duplicate under the same user, so I deleted one. Now that I open the documents folder, I see that all my files went on the other also. I checked on the trash can, but there is no where. I use windows vista Home premium.  I would like to know if there is another way to recover lost data. Frequently occur when you delete files that they do not appear in the Recycle Bin?

    Hello Fjose,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft answers Forum.

You can check the settings of the trash to see if you have an option is selected.
On the desktop, right-click on the Recycle Bin, and then click Properties.
    Click the general tab,
Check to see if "do not move files to the Recycle Bin" is selected. If it is enabled, then your files
will be permanently deleted when deleting.

Otherwise, you can try to see if a system restore will retrieve your documents folder.
Follow the article below for the steps to restore the system.
936212 KB - how to repair the operating system and how to restore the configuration of the operating system to an earlier point in time in Windows Vista
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212

You can also create a manual system restore point so that you can restore to that State in case of problems.
Right-click on the computer icon in the desktop, then choose Properties
In the left pane, click System Protection
Alternatively, to directly access the System Protection tab, click Start and type SystemPropertiesProtection.exe.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click the System Protection tab and then click on create.
In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click on create.

Answer please come back and let us know the status of your question.
