conventional media cannot play mp4 files, error message indicates codec for MP4 is missing
Execution of media classic version 6.4.9.0 with Windows XP PRO with SP3 Version 3311. These files ran before the recent windows updates. I use Classic as a tool to learn how to improve my golf swing. This is the only version where I can stop/reading/playforward and watch a frame at a time. I have a file with Tiger Woods starts idling and I look to improve my game. The error message indicates that the MP4 CODEC is missing. Can update do I have to remove to make it work again or where I find the missing codec to download? All other files are working except the MP4.
As I said, it worked before without any problem.
Do a system restore to an hour before
the problem began could be worth a try.

"Extraction failure: cannot open output file" error message when installing new drivers
Hello, I am trying to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart C4385 printer. I downloaded the complete drivers of features for Windows XP 32-bit, and when I start to install (extract), I get the error message:
Extraction failed
Cannot open output file
And the process ends. He arrived at about 85% extraction every time.
No idea why? I called HP, but no longer under warranty they wanted money, which I think as absolutely ridiculous - not even give me basic support? Poor, poor customer service.
Hi GIJeff12,
Temporarily disable any AntiVirus/Antispyware software.
Cut the installer on your desktop then click on the Start Menu, click computer, double-click on the C: drive and paste the installler here. Now try a right click on the installer for your printer, choose 7-Zip and choose Extract the files, and then click Ok. If the installation program extracts now correctly, follow these steps. If it does not extract, let me know.
Disconnect your printer from the PC. Restart your PC.
Open the newly extracted folder and double-click the setup application to start the installation (the installation application will probably have the same icon as the original installation software that you downloaded). Connect the printer to your computer when you are asked.
If it was a success, re - enable your security software.
Best wishes

Cannot download any file, error message "program has a virus and has been deleted."
Original title: Difficulty to download repair manuals and information programs on the internet.
I'm having problems when downloading of information on programs and the internet repair manuals. Windows always tells me that this program has a virus and has been deleted. This happens with all downloads. My anti-virus program does not detect a virus. Can there be something in my settings that does this. Help Adam
Hi Adam,.
To provide the proper resolution, I would need more information on your side.
1. what web browser do you use?
2. what anti-virus software do you use?
3. the problem occurs with all web browsers?
This problem may occur due to the infection by the virus or because of incorrect browser settings.
If you use Internet Explorer as your web browser, try the following steps and check if it helps.Method 1:
I suggest you run Virus Scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free and check if it helps. The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note:
1) the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
2) if you run the virus scan of the program which is infected with the virus will be deleted. Therefore, reinstall the program. Also, if files and folders are affected by the virus, while they might even get deleted.
Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest to activate the download of the file in Internet Explorer and check to see if it helps.a. close all Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer Windows that are currently open.
b. Open Internet Explorer by clicking Start, and then click Internet Explorer.
c. click the Tools button, then Internet Options.
d. click on the Security tab , click Internet, and then the custom level button.
e. scroll down to category of downloadsand the download of the file to Activatevalue.

I got this error message when you try to play an MP4 video. Help please!
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.
You can try to download the http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=507 Codec Installation Package
If this does not work, you may need to get some third party software to convert MP4 video to the longer Windows Media Player video format supported like WMV, AVI in order to solve the problem

* original title - Window Media Player cannot drive cannot read the file the player could does not load the file or may not support or does not support the codec used to compress the fichier.*
Hello
1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?
2. the problem occurs on a particular file?
3. What is the format of the file you want to play in Windows Media Player? You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:
(a) the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.
(b) the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.
Windows media player will play only the files and videos only if it supports this type of file.
Please see the bottom of the article that gives you information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992
If the files are not supported by Windows media player, then you will need to use a few players from third party that supports this file format.

Original title: Media Player
THE FOLLOWING IS a MESSAGE I GET WHEN TRYING TO DOWNLOAD FILES: "Windows Media Player cannot play this file because there is a problem with the audio device. "It might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it can be used by another program, or it might is not working properly. What "audio device" are talking about?
Hello
1. do you get an error with this error code?
2 have you installed multiple audio devices on your computer?
3. what version of Media Player do you use?
4. were you able to play the files using Media Player without any problem before?
5 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?
Audio device is the part that allows sound from the computer. If the appliance is used or if the drivers are corrupt, then you can get the error message.
I suggest you go through the steps and check.
Method 1:
Quit other programs that may be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again.
Method 2: Install an updated driver.
Step 1: Firstly uninstall the audio driver from Device Manager and add or remove programs

c. the title sound, the video controller and games, make sure that the sound card is listed.
d. right click on the sound card and then click Update driver to install the latest version of the driver.
e. visit the sound card manufacturer's Web site to determine if a newer version of the driver is available for download.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.
Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.
Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.
I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.
Thanks for your reply.
I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

Original title: cannot get audio from video .3g2 (Windows 7)
I have a number of videos that were recorded on a Motorola phone to format .3g2, when I played against them in windows XP Pro using what was the most recent media player, they played very well and the audio was present.
I've since upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and have found that videos will play with media player sound is not output.
I tried different players like VLC (same result, no sound) and came across one called SUPER from erightsoft which indeed works and allows me to re - encode to .wmv BUT when I do and you try to read the .wmv I encounter an error:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player does not support the format you are trying to play. »
When I clikc on help, I am led to a page with links on THIS forum.
So here I am.
Can someone explain what is happening, why it happens and how / if I can convert them into a playable (with audio) .wmv friendly format?
