Conversion of Outlook and/or import issues

Help! My future is in your hands. I've been a Palm user for several years and my whole contact, todo, etc. the lists are on the 4.0.1 version of the office. I just got a new Windows 7 computer and you know the rest... the Palm desktop will not work.

Is there a possible way to get the data from the Palm program in Outlook? Or is there another program that I could I could buy that would do it or is there another inexpensive contact manager that would incorporate the .dba files?

Go to the computer icon, right click and select Properties. On this screen, you should see the listed version. If you do not see listed in this screen 64 bit, then you have 32-bit.

You must use the export in PD and not the .dat and .bak files. .Dat and .bak files can only be copied and pasted into the subfolders of userfolder. Let's try the export function since we cannot get the files to load into PD correctly using this method.

The exported files will be the format of archive, .aba for the address, .dba for the agenda, etc.

Follow the instruction sbelow for the export function. Make sure you select 'all' in the range option or it will export all the data, only the currently selected record.

The best way to protect your data is to export the data in each category of Palm Desktop in a separate folder on your PC.

Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that suits. Name it something like Palm Desktop data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on this page for the export procedure.

Make sure you only select everything for the beach in the export window.

With the data stored in the created folder, make a copy of this file and save it on a USB key, cd - rw or external hard drive.

Whenever you change in Palm Desktop, export the data that has been changed in this file and save again to external media.

With this process you can always import the data in Palm Desktop, whenever you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop, or if your computer/hard drive/device crash.

After this procedure, copy the palm folder created on a drive flash or HD Connect the HD Flash to the Win7 PC and import these files.

    Currently there is no function to do this, you need to either restore from a backup that had messages or that the sender will send the message again.

    So what (s) you refuse permissions on this folder? If deny you permissions to everyone, then of course your own username has been included in this group. Out of this is to start the computer with a Linux Live CD or USB key and the copy of the data in the files to external media such as a disk external hard USB or USB key. Linux will not honor Windows permissions. Then delete the files while in Linux. If all goes well, they are not system folders but are only folders you have created yourself. Then start in Windows, create new folders, copy your data to them. If you explain what and where are the files and what restrictions you want to give, we can help you to do this properly.

    DBX files are data files Outlook Express and you will need a Windows Live Mail e-mail client to open.

    In Outlook Express, compact you files first.

    Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

    For Messages:

    Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

    V-2009: open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    V-2011/2012: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

    In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

    In Windows XP the OE User (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    Note: If any DBX file is over 300 MB, return to OE and move some messages from the folder related to a new user created folder and compact down the size of the file.

    For addresses:

    Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

    For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

    WLMail 2011/2012: switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.

    Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

    In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new desktop computer.

    For WLMail 2009: Tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

    For WLMail 2011: The Menu button. Options | E-mail accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

    Account settings do not matter in WLMail 2012. You will have to do it manually.

    Twice now when I open outlook express, that I very, very rarely use - my emails go to Tiscali (now TalkTalk) which is my ISP - and outlook express has imported all of my emails from my Tiscali email account;   is the first time about 2 years ago and it imported all of them, about 360 emails and yesterday when I opened outlook express it imported all of them once again, 548 emails. It took me sending hours back to my account email Tiscali, one by one.
    I looked at the settings in outlook express and can not find out why he did and want to disable it will never happen.

    I had a situation this week which was frightening for me. I used outlook and everything was good. My outgoing emails have been in my 'sent' folder, any alerts or messages of rejection.

    I had an investigation of a beneficiary who does not sense [that I had sent the answer].

    The result has been that for about 1.5 days my outgoing emails not sent, no warning as I said. It was about 20 + emails, some quite important.

    I have been in contact with my server, not a solution.

    I have Norton first Edition and security my incoming and outgoing are all two analyses, even if my computer is clean. It took Norton a while to solve this problem, but I now always wonder if my messages are underway.

    Are you talking about outlook.com in a web browser or Microsoft Office outlook?  If outlook.com check the Outbox.  Sometimes an email coming out will be "butcher" the Outbox.  Remove the oldest message should fix this.

    If MS Office outlook please repost this in the section of the Office for the version that you have.

    BTW, Norton is rubbish and may in fact be the cause.

  • Research of start Windows 7 does not see outlook and onenote items

    I use office 2010 and windows 7 Enterprise.    When you used to search in the start bar the results it would display would contain items outlook and onenote but it is no longer made.  It contains only the elements with the words to search for in the name of the file.

    If however I chose see more results while all outlook and onenote items are there.  It feels like a framework or something somewhere has changed and now the start bar search does not bother to look in the index.
    I made sure that all the search options in the start bar properties tab are on and working, but still no results.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    I have a Mac Book Pro December 2011, OS X 10.7.5. I struggled with the implementation of php and many other issues and have been repeatedly invited to improve my OS. As a newbie in CS, I frankly scared - it's the only computer I have, and I can't lose/break/brick/etc, because I won't be able to fix any serious problem at the moment, not until I know what's best.     (2) If Yes on first, what are the possible problems that may arise and what should I do to avoid problems?

    (3) should I reinstall MS Office to upgrade the OS? This is crucial for me because I found out that I have to buy new MS Office, as Microsoft staff informed me. This isn't really the best money for me at the moment.

    -Consult the developer of your applications if they will work with El Capitan.  Some may require updates and some may simply not work, and you must buy an upgrade. A MS Office for Mac license will be valid when upgrading to El Capitan, if the version you have is compatible with El Capitan.

    -In EL Capitan Apple strengthened for some hardware will require drivers drivers updated signature. For some hardware updated drivers are not available.
