All TIFF compression is lossless, except of course JPEG compressed TIFF (which should be avoided in any case because of compatibility issues).

  • Could not import the TIFF format in Premiere Elements project

Hi - I'm a user of PS CS5 and LR3 and have just started working with first Elements 10.  Right out of the gate, I encountered a problem where I seem to be impossible to import some TIFF in PE files.  If I open my Nikon NEF in PS CS5 and save it in format TIFF, I'm able to import in PE.  But if the NAVE passes thru LR somehow then import into PE returns a "generic error" dialog box  This happens for example, that if I export LR file in TIFF format... or if I open it in LR, then use Edit-IN (PS CS5), and then save PS... again, it happens.

I did a little research (maybe not enough?) and that you haven't turned upward from the known problems.  Y at - he hunting for witches here, or maybe I am doing something wrong?

Im am using PS Elements in Win10 has an external module in LR 5.7 for editing. But when I access the TIFF LR file generated in part of PS, I don't have access to overlay or menu commands. I can't find a solution. I tried a PSD file with no result. Can only be changed with layers file is a JPEG. How can I create with a TIFF in PS Elements file layers?

The cause is probably that the tiff/psd files are 16-bit/channel

If you open one of the files in the element editor and you pass to Image > Mode and click on 8-bit/channel, is what let you use layers, etc...?

  • Printer using the TIFF format?

This who should I think about a printer that allows you to convert the PDF file that I will give in a TIFF file to format before printing. I think it's because it uses the publishing server (I think). Should I be worried?

I can tell you that it gives me a very good price, but the four tests he gave me are not good with regard to alignment on spreads, or border being equal. I could go full page for 50 cents more, but then that eliminates the problem of the border I'm not sure it solves the problem of alignment. He said he rushed to prove myself made and can do better. It is difficult, he said, to manage printing across pages that print as spreads are difficult to get aligned since the publication of the document moves some printing. It almost sounded like it should stand to the printer and push each sheet it prints.

I get a straight story or should I find another printer?

I would like to copy quite a number of slides and negatives of my innovative technology Film Scan 351 for MS Vista 'paint' for available myself of the chance to use the quality of the TIFF format. I would like to download to use this format. I guess that the paint would allow me to 'fix' the photos who need.

My next step would be to burn photos to a CD - R or DVD-R individually, not as a slide show. Last but not least play the disc on a CD/DVD drive.

    Thank you.

  • CC wants to save to the default TIFF format. How can I register as a default PSD?

I know that the PSD are the default file format, and I read CS6 is sticky and will save a file in the latest file format that has been saved.

    Here is my scenario:

1 to 5 of Lightroom, I right-click on one of my RAW (NEF) files and select Edit in CC.

2 CC opens and I do some changes.

3 try to save the file.

    a. If I just "Save" the file, it saves to the TIFF format.

    b. If I use "Save as...". "the dialogue is set by default to a TIFF file

I tried to open a file of LR in CC, by registering as a PSD, then closing CC in the hope that it would be sticky, nope.

How can I force CC always default to save PSD files unless I tell him otherwise?

It helped me to get to the resolution.

I opened CC and opened a NAVE across the bridge. File... Save as... high by default save the PSD. So I took a peek in LR.

In LR, I went to "Edit"... Preferences"on the external publishing tab, I got"File Format"set to TIFF.  Why, when and how I made this change I don't remember. Especially the "why" part.

Change to PSD solved this problem.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Why things look better in PDF format before converting to the JPEG/PNG/TIFF format

He always intrigues my why it looks better in a pdf preview and then when I choose to convert it into Indesign or Adobe Acrobat it immediately loses quality/hues turn gray.

I have had several success screenshotting things and turning them manually and sticking them in a document in fireworks and then saving it as image format.

Is there a better way to convert without using this method? Plug-ins may or explanations on how to stop this?

    Thank you

    Daniel K.

This is not the appropriate forum, but let's see if we can see what you are doing and why. An overview of the pdf should not look better than exporting InDesign to PDF. This may depend on your settings file that determines the quality of your export to PDF.

Whenever you convert Acrobat or InDesign to JPEG, PNG, or TIFF, you are likely to loose quality. This is particularly true for the JPEG as it is a lossy format (it's supposed to lose quality in order to ensure a smaller file size). Conversion of InDesign or Acrobat in JPEG, PNG or TIFF format involves a change in a format that includes the actual fonts and possibly other vector information (including quality is beyond resolution because it is derived from mathematical formulas describing the content) to form a frame (jpg, png, tiff) which is only based on the creation of points at a certain resolution to create an image. When the resolution of the image file is different from the compromise resolution look a way are made. It is the loss you see.

Why do you need to convert raster images InDesign documents?

I just purchased photos to shutterstock and they said, it will download a .eps file. They said that I need vector editor like adobe illustrator to convert the image to the jpeg format. Could someone advise me on how to do this? This is all very alien to me.

    The chic Lady

File > open to open your eps file

File > export to export your image as a jpg.

In the export dialog just below where you type the name of the file is a type of file, which is where you choose jpg.

Whatever you do, do not delete the eps file. If you need to access the original you have.

I recommend instead of jpg you choose psd, tiff, or png and jpg don't use that to share. Jpg is a lossy format, which means that whenever you modify the file and save it, degrades the quality of this file. The formats that I recommend are lossless formats, you can edit all you want that data is not being ignored, unless you choose to do so.

  • Problems with the export of PDF to TIFF (a PDF page export also several images in TIFF format)

Using Acrobat X professional, I'm trying to convert a PDF to multiple page in multiple TIFF files - that is, each page of the PDF file is converted to a TIFF file (for example, a PDF file with 50 pages would cause 50 TIFF).

I created a remedy so that I can possibly process batches of PDFs. My action in two stages:

    (1) flatten layers

    (2) export all images as TIFF

-the files are exported to a folder on a network drive

-file settings are: Monochrome = CCITT G4 / grayscale = LZW / color = LZW

-color management: RGB = off / off = CMYK / grayscale = off

-conversion: color space: determine automatically / resolution: 300 pixels/inch

-extraction: exclude the lower images: no limit

My PDF is searchable (OCR has been applied). I checked the file to see if it has all the layers - this isn't. The file was created with InDesign.

Basically, once the action performed there are several exported for each page - TIFF files and when I open the TIFFs they are parts of each PDF page. For example, if a single PDF page has three images on it then three TIFFs are exported for each image instead of a TIFF that is identical to the single PDF page. Then, when I try to treat a PDF with 50 pages that I'm left with is a folder with 150 TIFF files (and not 50 TIFF files - a TIFF for each page of the PDF).

Here is an example of how files are renamed due to export:

      • HD_08_Issue2_E_Page_02_Image_0001.tif
      • HD_08_Issue2_E_Page_02_Image_0002.tif
      • HD_08_Issue2_E_Page_02_Image_0003.tif
      • HD_08_Issue2_E_Page_02_Image_0004.tif
      • HD_08_Issue2_E_Page_02_Image_0005.tif

I tried to use the action on a PDF file that had not been OCR'ed and I had no such problem. The only thing I can think is that it is the OCR which is the origin of each page of the file PDF to split into multiple images? The majority of the files that I need to convert PDF to TIFF had applied OCR.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

In a Save command, you can use the export to TIFF in the output Format.

  • Convert originals of the PSD to TIFF

My Lightroom Catalog contains a lot of PSD files (created in older versions of Photoshop, before that TIFF was recording format by default). They have layers.

I want to convert this PSD to TIFF files - ideally compression TIFF + ZIP, since this seems to reduce the file size quite significantly.

Is it possible to automate this? My current workflow goes like this:

    1. Open a PSD in Photoshop
    2. File > save as, choose TIFF + ZIP
    3. Remove the PSD file.
    4. Lightroom detects that the file is missing. Choose to place on the file, select it. TIF file version, click OK.
    5. Click on confirm when prompted that file names do not match.
    6. Now, I have a. Original TIF in my catalog.

This process requires a lot of manual work. I can automate (sort of) the PSD > conversion TIF using the Image in Photoshop processor, but:

    • Image processor allows only LZW compression, no ZIP.
    • After I deleted the. PSD, Lightroom requires me to review for each missing file and 'Search' individually - I can't do this with several files at the same time.

    Any suggestions?

    Other things I've tried:

    • Convert from Lightroom to DNG function. This eliminates my PSD layer information, so this won't work.
    • Function rename to Lightroom. I thought I could rename the. PSD files. TIF before their conversion, which avoids the manual step of having to use 'Locate' on each file. But Lightroom will not rename the files with a different file extension, so it does not work.
    • Export of Lightroom with "Add to catalogue" activated function. That's what I want either, because it exports a file with LR changes applied. I want to replace the original file with a different format, while retaining all its metadata in LR and changes in the catalog.

    Thank you!

Sorry, I just checked Image Processor Dr.Brown Pro, and it does not ZIP "Compression of images", but with ELA ' layer of Compression, which probably won't give you a file size much smaller than the PSD with "maximize compatibility.

You can do this with a PS Action and use a controller > Batch command allows to process a file or a folder with subfolders tree if they contain only layered PSD files.

    Create the Action

    (1) open one image PSD layered file.

    (2) to open the Actions panel and click on the "Create new Action" button, name it something like "Save as TIFF (ZIP + ZIP)" and click on the record button.

    (3) then go to file > save as > select "TIFF" Format, select the two images and ZIP compression layer, and then click OK.

    (4) hit the button "Stop Action" square. Fact!

    Automate batch processing

    1) go to file > automate > batch

    (2) select the action just created in the "Action" drop-down list if it is not already selected.

    (3) under 'Source', select the folder, or a top-level folder with subfolders that contain layerd PSD files. Also check 'Include subfolders' If you want to process subfolders.

    (4) check "Override Action" save under "orders' so that it ignores the filename and destination folder used to create the action.

    5) click OK to start the batch job. According to the number of files being processed, it may take some time to complete. TIFF files will be saved in the same folder as the PSD files.

You will still need to find a way to synchronize settings between the PSD and TIFF LR.
