Convert the ReadyNAS Duo v2 in JBOD

Hello

I have this old v2 of ReadyNAS Duo with two 1 TB drives that runs X-RAID.

My system has changed and I no longer need RAID.

Question:

Is it possible, to convert the option X-Raid JBOD, which would be much more convenient for me...?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards

Lody Claessen J.

  • Extract the data from the ReadyNAS Duo 3 to disk?

    Hello

I have a ReadyNAS Duo chassis crashed with two drives of 3 TB in it. Both discs seem to work very well.

How can I do to retrieve the data from disks of theses? they were in a RAID 1 configuration, so I guess I just need to extract one of the disks. Does it matter which drive is it?

I started to connect one of the disks to an installation of Ubuntu and I can find from the disc with respect to the available partitions, but I get no info on the file system used, only that it is flagged as RAID.

Because I don't want ot destroy all the data I was very careful when working with the partitioning tool. So far, I've installed and looked parted, gparted, gdisk and a few others.

Since I'm really new to Linux, I need more detailed assistance with indicators to be used to access the drive.

    Any input is highly appreciated.

  • The ReadyNAS Duo RND2000 Player update

I'm looking to replace the disks and increase the capacity of my ReadyNAS Duo RND2000. The unit itself has been reliable, especially after plug it into a UPS

Currently, I have Seagate Barracuda 2x1To (ST31000520AS) disks and they were fine, I just need more space.
One aspect I'm not sure and would appreciate some thoughts on, is the importance of Rotation Vibration pland, as do not opt for that opens up to the top of the range of compatible hard drives. One who looks good value / price is the WD Caviar Green WD20EARX.

I would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions, including those based on the first hand experience of go 2 TB and this chassis

    Thank you!

I have several duets. Recently, I upped to 2x1To (X-raided) to 2 x 2 TB. It was a very easy process, but take a few days.

I use these drives "Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 2 to 7200 tr / MIN 64 MB 6 Gbps SATA drive internal" (from Amazon.co.uk)

(Don't say that these discs are good for you, but they are what I have had success with - YMMV).

    The upgrade is easy:

    1. turn the power off and replace the disk 2 with a new 2 TB drive.

    2. turn on and let the RAID unraveling.

    3. Repeat steps 1 & 2 for 1 disc.

    4. when the RAID is all sorted out, restart again to have the X-RAID volume up to 2 TB.

    5. work!

It is very simple but it takes days and as you probably already know, make sure you have a backup of ALL your data before you start.

    Good luck

  • Help the ReadyNas Duo v1 - cannot connect after calving

    Hello

From powering down my Nas (2 seagate drives - don't think that I have configure RAID) for a week or so, I've been is no longer able to connect to it, or find iton my network usjng RAIDar.

I checked the network cables and everything seems ok. I tried an instal OS, which has solved similar problems I had in the past. It did not work. I then tried to connect by joining the Nas directly to my PC (after setting the ip address and the subnet because of the default Nas PC), but it did not work. The Nas does not show unusual led flashes after appearing to start normally. The ethernet jack suggests its connected as the two lights are solid. I have connected to my router, which shows that the sin is not connected to the network/router.

I like to keep the data on the Nas, so I have not tried a factory reset.

Yesterday, I tried flashjng the operating system by using a usb key with the last firmware (raidar 4.1.14) image. During this process, the led showed an error code; 3 flashes, which I think is bad content on the root partition. I have since Chouf down and rebooted. Its now still not accessible, but does not display of error codes.

Help, I don't know what else to try!

Just follow this thread. I tried a few free options but they do not work and recovered the data, because of file storage or RAID, movie files and music have been segmented. In the end, I had success with R-Studio, a recommendation of thoughts Botts. It is not a free service, but it was friendly and quick. Thanks again.

  • Install PHP5 on Readynas Duo v2 (should work on all ARMS)

Since I'm not a big fan of paying for things that are easily made by myself, I thought that
I would like to take the time to write how I went about to install and configure PHP5, MySQL and phpMyAdmin
on the ReadyNAS Duo v2. (pun partially, although the readynasxtras offer one range of other)
package, such as opt-in the add-on paid...)

This assumes you already have EnableRootAccess running.

1 installation and configuration of PHP5.

First of all, we need to install the package PHP5 with apt - get. Connect to your NAS through SSH to start.
We are as safety conscious users (;-)) the root account is disabled for the connection ofc, so we have to
perform these operations as sudoers instead. Type:

    sudo apt - get install libapache2-mod-php5 php5-cli-common php5 php5-cgi

Some of the packages will be probably marked as installed or the value manually. This is normal, so just
Type Y and sit back while than packages being installed.

After that, he must add the php5_module and trigger php files to be handled by the php5 module.
    Type:

    sudo /etc/frontview/apache2/httpd.conf

Then, locate the lines loading of modules, for ex.:

    LoadModule perl_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_perl.so

Add these lines to this section in the file:

    LoadModule php5_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so
    Script-php5 .php AddHandler

    Now find this line:

    DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm redirect.html

    and to take:

    DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php redirect.html

Now, he must restart apache by typing:

    sudo killall apache-ssl
    apache-ssl - f /etc/frontview/apache/httpd.conf sudo

You should now be able to use PHP on your ReadyNAS!

I'm going to write a statement about how to install and configure MySQL and phpMyAdmin as well in the
upcoming posts, but given that I have to go now, to do for the moment.

    See you soon,.
    Simon

For beginners like me, you can buy https://rnxtras.com/addons/php-5-4-readynas-5-arm
Worked perfectly fine on my ARM 5.3.10 RND2000

  • ReadyNAS Duo will not do the factory reset

My Readynas Duo is - after updating the firmware via Web Access-no is not accessible. After hours of trying (incl. Raidar, check via my web access router) there is no connection. Help, please!

After sending to the support team they helped me. Raidar could not find anything. A new installation of my firmware via USB is the solution. Thank you!

  • After pressing the default from the factory to Raidar ReadyNAS Duo V2 gives the device is offline

Yesterday, I pressed the button by default factory in Raidar. The result is today, 15 hours later, the LED and the display work correctly, but when I try to access via Raidar the message arrives: device is offline, please wait. I can stop the ReadyNAS with the button on the device but when I stand the unit with a paperclip in the reset button and the powerbutton, I can't change the menu the normal newsstand. Does anyone have an idea if it takes days to reset to factory default? The HD I use are 4 x 2 TB and 5.3.11 Firmware.

Factory worked perfectly, after I renewed 1 HD which created a redneck during the factory default. Now everything works well again.

    Thanks for the help

  • ReadyNAS Duo copy is slow and gives error 0x8007003B

I can not copy or use my ReadyNAS duo when you are connected to our router - it is incredibly slow (10 KB) in the best of times and just most of the time-error.

If I disconnect the router it works perfectly - but no Internet...

I checked the MTU size and piniging packages etc. and which seems fine, the frames are disabled on my computer.

How can I go on troubleshooting routers/switches?

Current configuration is border-> switch TP - Link router-> switch netgear that will both my computer and the ReadyNAS (it was originally setup without the switch netgear with the same problem).

Thanks for your help, I solved the problem though.

It was a problem of network on my computer driver and the NAS server has started working after uninstalling and reinstalling.

  • ReadyNAS DUO v2 firmware upgrade to v6.5?

I get emails to migrate to MyNETGEAR.com signature unique account. I made the transition, but I do not get the prompt to update firmware to upgrade to version 6.5.0. How can I get the new firmware? I am currently on RAIDiator 5.3.11 on my ReadyNAS Duo v2.

Your Duo v2 is too old to work with ReadyCloud and does not support the firmware 6.x OS.

  • Plex-like mediaserver for ReadyNAS Duo V1

    Hello

I have a ReadyNAS Duo V1 and would have a link to watch movies on my Chromecast.

Normally the Plex would do the job, but as much as I know Plex is not compattible with the Duo V1

    So, what are my options?

    Thnx

    Chris

You could install a client DLNA on Chromecast and ReadyDLNA on the ReadyNAS performance but noted that the Chromecast won't be able to play the files it can be streamed to as your ReadyNAS is unable to transcode. If the media is in the wrong format or high quality the Chromecast will not be able to play.

  • Size of 4 TB drive ReadyNAS Duo V2 Windows7

I ReadyNAS Duo V2 equipped of two red disks WD 2 TB. Running on network with computers mainly to Win7. Works perfectly.

I want to bring to disks of 2 x 4 TB, which are on the approved list.

Question - NAS continued to work fully with these or will be Win7 will impose a limit of 2 TB?

Windows 7 is no problem with the large network shares, so no worries.

  • ReadyNAS Duo - RAID 0 - failed disk

I have a ReadyNAS Duo V2 with 2 x 2 TB disks. One of the readers of course missed, because it has been reported and then stop. I removed it from its Bay.

Now since the two drives in RAID 0, I wonder if there is a way to try to recover the data to work at least another HDD and a best screenplay - both.

Before you say that, I know that RAID 0 is not a good idea. But this is a case I need your help with.

RAID 0 is not a redundant RAID. If you have 2 drives in a single RAID 0, disk failure causes you have almost no chance to recover all the data that the data are not redundant and distributed on disks with no parity. If you have 2 volumes, each a RAID 0, all data on the disk that died disappeared completely.

Depending on what happened to your old drive, you can probably consider cloning this drive. There are many resources online to help you with this. NETGEAR support can try fee non-refundable diagonstic (see their articles on data recovery).

The file system on the Duo v2 is ext, so you might be able to get off the fragments of your data, but likely not large files.

My suggestion is clone your bad RAID 0 disk to a good disk and try restarting your ReadyNAS in normal mode.

    Good luck.

  • Backup error ReadyNas DUO - «read only file system»

    Hello community,

I hope you can help me with a problem I'm having with my ReadyNAS Duo (v1) running Raidiator 4.1.14. At night, it is running a backup job that copies a file from a computer on the local network to the NAS itself. What often happens is after a reboot for a while, things work sometimes days, sometimes weeks. But then I get e-mails warning that contains journal like entries:

CP: cannot create the file ' / backup/projecten/./CAM_strip/01_v0.1.JPG': read-only file system

Usually this warning is given for each file (which means thousands) so that emails are big enough. And obviously the backup has not been made. I tried to solve this problem and sought similar questions on this forum and on the web, but nothing helped. I can't identify what is the cause.

Maybe you could help me the grace to some of the run settings, I can tinker too. I guess it has something to do with the ownership and rights to access these files and folders.

    Thank you!

    Hello Miss,

Aside from trying StephenB and JennCs suggestions, if you create a test share, can you tell us if you will experience the same behavior in read-only?

    Forward to your response.

    Kind regards

  • Power light flashing ReadyNAS Duo

Hi, I got a ReadyNAS duo of one of my friends, I have replace both drives of 1 TB with a same exact. I booted up the SIN and it showed on the tool Raidar. I got 'corrupt boot' so I followed the steps on the site Q & A. I did a restore and reinstall OS. But now the power button blinks only. As his starter, but he just "hangs", been like that for a few hours.

I also had the Disk2 light light upward, and I've been like this for a day. But nothing happened. So I got the power (tried to turn it off using the power button) nothing happends. So now its onl flashing on the power button.

What can I do to make it work?

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Nothing, it appears not didt.

However what I did to start the nas in the boot without all the drives menu. Then he would detect in RAIDar. Once I could detect the NAS in RAIDAR, I have it turned off. My drives of 1 TB to MS-FAT reformated. Put the disc in, followed the intructions to enter the start menu and the operating system reinstalled. Let stand a few hours in my case 7 hours. Then configure the RAID and all was good.

  • ReadyNas Duo and problem of compatibility between Windows Vista?

    Hi all

I currently have the installer to readynas duo work that is used to store and share files / information to 3 other computers that are connected wirelessly (I think?). The problem is that when you try to access the files on it, they are extremely slow to load, and sometimes come as "not responding" but finally after load up to 3-5 minutes, which of course is not optimal for a work desk. This slow loading time occurs on 2 of the 3 computers, that it works great on windows 7, the other two are vista.
This could be a compatibility issue with vista or a problem with the duo of nas? IM leaning towards a problem vista as windows system 7 works fine without any problems.
    any help appreciated thanks

Could be a problem with Vista. This area was redesigned in Windows 7.
