  • Expand or move the virtual machine to another partition / hard disk

I tried to expand my 90 GB disk but nothing changes, i.e. the virtual machine is still to 60 GB. I have VMware Fusion 6 (Mac/Windows 10) and my VM is monolithic mode. In this true HD, I even 50 GB free and I can't increase the amount again in an attempt to rectify this problem and I can not to decrease either. I thought to change the location of the virtual machine to another partition/hd with more space, but I don't know how. So I need little help to choose and implements one of the solutions below:

    - or regularise space for the new amount

    - or move the virtual machine (vmdk) to an another partition/HD

    - or to convert monolithic mode to 2 GB split

    What is the best solution?

    Thanks in advance

    It's help me;

Resize a Windows Partition with disk management tool

When you maximize your virtual hard disk, you must also expand partition of your guest operating system to take advantage of the extra space.

Fusion resizes the partition of the guest operating system when you resize the virtual hard disk. If you hold the Option key when you click apply to resize the drive, you can manually resize the Windows partition. For Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista you can use the operating system's disk management tool to resize a partition.

    Prerequisites

Check that your virtual hard disk is large enough to accept the increase in the size of the partition. See resize a hard disk.

    Procedure

1 right click on computer and select Manage.

    2. double-click on storage.

    3 double-click disk management.

4 in the list, right click on the partition to expand and select Extend the Volume.

5 follow the prompts to resize the partition and click complete and the question of the partition in the disk management pane displays its new size.

    6. close the computer management window

  • What brand of external drive USB/eSATA can save a Virtual Machine to host Windows 7 operating system?

    People,

Hello. I use 3 Player VM and Guest OS Windows Server 2003. The host OS is Windows 7. I need to increase the size of the VM disk, so who can install several systems in the guest OS. Before you increase the size of the virtual disk, I need to back up the virtual machine hard disk external. It is to copy and paste the "C:\VirtualMachine\" folder in the hard disk external.

I just bought an external hard drive that is "Western Digital My Passport Essential 500 GB USB 3.0" and its software is "WD SmartWare". It seems that the software can back up the entire hard drive only. Alternatively, the backup files by selecting the types (music, photo, document, movies). But can not save a folder "C:\VirtualMachine\".

So my question is: what brand of external drive USB/eSATA can save a Virtual Machine to host Windows 7 operating system?

These two questions do not apply if you have a virtual machine.

  • I received an error message: operating system not found. I need to reinstall Windows, but do not have the media. How can I request media?

    "OS not found"

Hello... My laptop out there today and I'm trying to start it, it says "operating system not found '... I guess I reinstall windows Vista but I can't find any cd/dvd... I dontt think that I was given when I bought my laptop a few years ago... Do you think I can get another copy (free of charge)) L

    Hello

If you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your laptop there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

Also some manufacturers have more available recovery Vista disc.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Number of CPUS increase lead to the operating system not found

I am runnung ESXi 4.1 vsphere

Recently, I learned from a colleague I could increse the number of vCPUs on my virtual machines to make them a bit faster.  I decided to try this on my OS deployment server to see if it would indeed increase my speed.  I followed the instructions in the manual for vSphere, to increase the number of CPUS.  Once done, I started the virtual machine and now it does not start.  Only, he stays on the black screen and says "Not found operating system".  I checked the boot order and it's true.  I also put in the installation disk to try and make a fix of boot sector, but installation could not find the installed operating system or the other.  ARGH!  Any help would be wonderful!

2 other virtual machines are running very well.

    Thank you

    Tim

According to the vmsd file, it looks like the SCSI-ID's of your disks swapped (for some reason any, please do not ask me)

I've corrected the .vmx file so the hard disks will be presented to the virtual machine using the original SCSI-ID's

    scsi0:0. FileName = 'Groves2008-2 - 000006.vmdk '.
    scsi0:1.filename = "Groves2008-2_1 - 000004.vmdk.
    scsi0:2.filename = "Groves2008-2_2 - 000001.vmdk".

Please make sure that you did not another cliché, and these are the last hard files!

To replace the .vmx file, first remove the virtual machine inventory (right-click the VM in the inventory--> "Remove from inventory"), then download the .vmx file attached to the file of the VM on the data store and finally right-click on the .vmx file and select "add to the inventory.

Before turning off the virtual machine, take another snapshot to ensure you that we have a way back if it does not fire as expected!

If this works, you should consider to the 'Delete All' snapshots in snapshot Manager.

I tried both way of installing from ISO image and physical Cd /dvd. But same error.

I have a bud, the boot sequence, but not luck

    Help, please

    Kind regards... MB

I belive that your boot order is not preparing to your boot from the CD/DVD option.

In the setting VM Edit tab there is an option to go to the bios directly before trying to start. box to check that option and power on the virtual machine, it will go to the bios now set your first boot on CD/DVD device and apply to restart this will make the option set. Now your virtual machine starts automatically from CD/DVD.

Because this will not your VM to power & power on it will continue after your start option setting is applied.

You can try it once this option helped me...

  • Re: Satellite U400: operating system not found then the installation of the OS

I have a toshiba satellite u400 with is come with VISTA.

Because I don't like VISTA, I then installed WINDOWS XP with a multi boot.

Everything worked well. But one day I want to resize my partitions I used Paragon partition manager.
This product is required to operate only to resize my xp partition, so he asks me a start.

    And then nothing works.

I try to fix my problem with a fresh install, but it seems that the boot sector was not correct.
Then I completely format my hard disk on another computer with a USB CABLE.

When I try to install VISTA, XP or LINUX on a CD or DVD, I ask the multiboot with F12
I chose to boot from the CD/DVD built-in, but I get only "OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND',

It's as if the BIOS test the HARD to FIND something specific, and it does not find.
When my PC worked correctly I could boot from the drive to dvd without problem.

I called the SUPPORT CENTER of about 10 days, but I have no answer.

So if someone could help me.

    Thank you.

    Hello

OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND message appears generally if the laptop has attempted to boot from the HARD drive and didn t find the operating system.

But I put t understand why you formatted the HARD drive using the USB cable?

Please insert HARD drive in the Bay of laptops HARD drive and check if the HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS!
If the HARD drive has been recognised so I recommend you to take a disk Win XP Home and at the start of this disc.

As I m not wrong not you will need to first install the SATA drivers to recognize the HARD drive.
The fact is that the laptop supports the SATA controller and SATA drivers are needed to get the HARD drive recognized by Win XP.

Well, after you have booted from the Win XP disc you need to format the new HDD by using the NTFS file format and should then follow with the installation of the OS.

  • Windows Vista has crashed, "the operating system not found" error, can I load Windows XP on a partition?

I have an Acer Aspire 5516, with pre-installed Windows Vista. I didn't know that it did not come with a recovery disk UNTIL my system crashed! During a routine virus scan, I got a blue screen saying a major problem has been found and the system has been shut down. I followed the instructions to gracefully shut down my laptop. When I turned this back on after the "Acer" logo he went to a black screen with info on my computer and the last line States "not found operating system". That's when I discovered there was no recovery disc & it is integrated into the system. To access this system you we F8 to enter safe mode, then Alt F10 to access 'erecovery management system. Neither one of these functions operate! Still getting the black screen with "operating system" not found I have a Windows XP my laptop previous. What I was wondering is if I can load on my Acer, possibly on a partition, in order to be able to get into my laptop and save all of my files? I'm terrified of losing everything I have! I have thousands of pictures that I can't replace. If anyone can help please do! I am on a very limited income & can not really afford professional help. Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello

normally with an Acer you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the hidden recovery partition recovery, not F8, then this combo

but you do not have an option to save your data, that

in daily use acers normally have a system partition, a partition of data to save your data, etc. to and also this hidden partition recovery

    and read this on data recovery, too;

    Data recovery

    1. remove the hard drive and it slave in another computer

2 buy or borrow a USB disk drive hard put in yout case then plug it into another computer and read the hard drive like this

    3. try Knoppix

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

BUT this method 3 depends on your hardware in the computer that failed

read this information about method 3:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

Download the Vista software from the link above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community and thanks for posting the question.

According to the description, you have problems with the computer not start.

This problem can occur because of a hardware problem.

Proceed as from the link below and check if that helps.

Last night my operating system not found a set file and reloaded among other Outlook express things - is it possible to recover the address book, folders and emails?

    original title: Outlook Express problem

    Hi John,.

Try to locate your data from outlook express:

    Click on start-> Run & paste-> %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities

You will see the folders as {xxxxxx-xxxx-xxx-xx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} click-> Microsoft-> Outlook Express, you should be able to locate the DBX files, these are the outlook database files. Ideally, you should see inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx... check the size of the file.

Now to get it back on outlook express, open outlook express-> click on tools-> Options-> maintenance-> the storage location.

Click on change location, and then select the location that you have your data in.

For the address book, see: click Start-> Run and paste the following:

    %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

Address book with wab extension, these should reflect your Outlook Express user name.
