• Move pages between documents without synchronization with master?

  I want to combine two indesign files using 'move page', but it synchronizes them with the captain in the new document. I released most of the objects on the master pages, but I like to keep editable parts so making them in empty master pages until synchronization is not an option. Is there a way?

  I would rename the master in one of the docs. When you move pages, pages from masters of the same name will use the master page of the destination file, but if they are based on different names of masters the missing master page will be added to the destination. If you do this there is no need to override anything.

Although I get manuals more again, opening and changes to all these documents Gets a little intimidating and monotonous. Now I like say my back cover page for example who don't exchange any document for the document, is there a way to link it to all the other blankets back so that if I change something on a that it changes all the back covers all related documents?

  Also I can be me going but I have a few pages where all that is deferred like a few words (I like to consider as variables) such as the name of the product manual to address. If its possible to link the pages it would be possible to say ID to "ignore" a piece of text say inbetween two sets of characters? IE: "it's the best" (variable) "in the world".

  I can just dream but if theres a function or tool that everyone knows (or even a script, a person brought) please feel free to share it with me!

  Well, for your No. 2 question, Yes, there are a text variables in InDesign that do exactly what you ask. Type menu->-> set text Variables.

  For question No. 1: you can place an InDesign document to another as an image, so if you have identical pages, you can place this way. If you need text content are identical, but the presentation format for change, I would say now your text in Word or Google Docs and looking in WordFlow or DocsFlow from Em Software. Finally, the more complicated, less use-able is to include your documents in a book file to use Sync Master Pages causes changes in a master page in waterfall to your other files.

  Hi, I'm still learning script and am struggling with what is probably a simple problem to someone more knowledgeable. The task is to copy the text & chart of a few pages of a document from one to the other based on a similar model. The block of text and graphic blocks are named. I was able to get the part of the text, but I'm stuck on how to address them - stick in a graphic block.

  At this point, I got the graph to copy, but it does not quite work because the duplicate method allows only a table of 2 units, fattening, Page or layer target and source document positions are slightly different, and copy the chart only leaves out necessary style of the frame. I really want to stick it in the page element, but differs from the method for duplication of text. Tips to approach this? Should I instead to select the graphic and paste it into the new document? How I would achieve the equivalent of sticking in there?

  OK, if anyone is interested, I solved it by copying the graphic dimensions of empty graphic images of the model, and then nuking replacing them with a chart double. This technique works for all elements of the page are appointed in the same way on the source and target pages.

  I did an exploration of the possibilities, and I can't find a situation where access to the part of Master Pages from the Pages panel is completely lost. The separator between sections of pages, Master Pages and document is drag-able, but even by slide it upwards or downwards is not completely hide the masters... at least in my control panel.

  So, the strangeness you encounter is exactly the kind of strangeness that lightens in general with a reset of the preferences. This at least is the first thing you should try if you have not already.

  I have CS5 and love it. But after the moving objects on my master page between the layers (don't ask me why, just thought it might be a good idea) I can't lock without blocking InDesign objects (Ctrl-L). He meets a mistake and locks upward. I use the Task Manager to shut down and start over. You are not allowed to move objects on the master page between the layers? Do I need my mouse slapped?

  Why do you need to lock the object? It should be locked on normal pages? I was wondering.

  Hey Blair,

  You should be able to do by simply selecting (Ctrl + A) and copy (Ctrl + C) all content from the page master of the Site1 and paste in Place (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + V) into the master page of Site2.

• Document on 2 different master pages

  I have a 300 page document on Master Page A with the exception of a single page in which I asked Master Page B. At one point the ENTIRE DOCUMENT itself copied on Master Page B so that the system reports now of 600 pages. I tried to delete the Master page B, but it does not help. How can I get rid of this duplication?

• Help!  Master page in the middle of the document

  I created a flowing form and for some reason I have a blank Master Page (Page 1) which is actually in the document as page 3, I can't move, delete or copy anything on and I can not get rid of this page.  I tried to set it as hidden or inactive and nothing works.  It is quite a complex shape (8 pages long) and I tried to copy the form, page-by-page to a new document, but because she is "sunk", he did not copy and paste in the correct format.

  Sounds like a problem of paging with your layout.

  Mind you, a master page is used as a background for other pages.

  There is probably a regular page that created a junk page break or you have set the paging of a page 'go to page' settings or more.

• Cannot copy master items from one side to the other (pages face to face) with the help of stick in place.

  I am trying to copy text from one side of a master page two "facing pages" face to another using Paste in place, then I me identical Master Articles for both pages, but stick it in place is not working.

  But what do you mean by "add a master page that is specific to a document? Maybe add a page and apply a master? In this case:

• Cannot select items Master Page - but only on the last Page of my Document

  I'm working on a magazine layout, which has the page number and month located downstairs outside the corner of each page (pretty standard). Of course, I have this set up on the master spread. So far whenever I have to remove these items on a page of my document I was able to Ctrl + Shift + click and delete. But for some reason any on the last page (on the back) I can't click little matter what I try. I'm still able to select on other pages, and I have confirmed that the layers are not locked. Any ideas why this is only a specific page that gives me any questions?

  Check that the master page element is not set to prevent substitute also. Go to the main spread and select the folio of problem, choose Pages > Master Pages... and make sure that allow point Master overrides on selection is checked. MP articles that are protected do not have the framework dotted on the pages when show the contours of the block is selected.

  And make sure that you have not inadvertently duplicated the folio on the page or master page.
