• Acrobat 9 Pro: cannot copy the selected text unless I have a highlighting of the text

  I highlighted the text in a document. When I go to copy this text, it selects the whole sentence. I right click, the menu starts with "set status. There is no option "copy". No control-C is successful. When I paste then, he pastes a previously selected text, not the text I'm trying to copy in Acrobat.   I have a custom firefox extension that captures data on the Clipboard, as well as a selected text in the document in firefox. It is, whenever I select the text, it replaces the data in the Clipboard with the data of selected text. The Clipboard is always mirroring my text selection. I need to turn it off. Alternatively, make sure that the selected text gets sent to primary Clipboard, while firefox extension accesses Clipboard. (I guess that nsIClipboard retrieves data from the Clipboard vs primary school-press-papers).

  I am convinced that selected text is poured in the Clipboard and not the primary Clipboard. Selected text always overrides everything I copied using Ctrl + C command. Central to the mouse click or Ctrl + V out same thing.

  I have changed the default setting in about:config to clipboard.autocopy value= false. I have restarted my system and selected text still saves to clipboard.  This issue does show up on this thread here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=854565. But it is checked as solved. Apologies if this question should have been posted there. I am using Linux Mint 17, Firefox 32.0.3

  I solved the problem. Firstly, I've updated all my software, which had no effect. Then I realized that another extension can add this feature. And voila! I'm sure that search the fastest was the culprit. I disabled the addon, even though this feature can probably be disabled.

  I hope this helps future users who face this same problem.

  This is a bug or a really bad and frustrating idea for a story.

  (1) in the layers panel, select a text layer, it highlights

  2) change to the text tool

  3) click on the text element in the workspace

  OR

  (1) select a layer in the layers panel

  (2) Ctrl-J, new layer by copying

  EXPECTED: Panel layers rest in the same position

  REAL: Panel layers scrolls the element selected or new layer to the top of the Panel. BORING.

  I do not need or want Photoshop to make decisions for me, space to work around to move without asking, or generally to spoil my flow!

  Please fix this or give me an option to turn it off as soon as POSSIBLE.

  Yes, it is possible to do it with a script (in most cases). I'll send you a PM with more details.

  I remember being able to select the text with a certain shortcut would not show that it is actually highlighted, but it actually so, essentially the same function as selecting / highlighting just without the Visual indicator that it is highlighted / selected.

  You can change the font by selecting just different fonts in the menu drop-down of the character Panel. It will change the police without selecting text and giving you a reverse color effect.

  I know that you can use the ALT key while selecting a text box with the mouse and therefore manually copy and paste the player text columns in separate columns of text in Excel, but it's quite tedious.

  Highlighting a section in an entire page that is displayed as columns and then paste into Excel will most likely result a single column with all the text in a line in a single cell. Text of the columns is separated by a space instead of a tab or a coma.

  Player is clearly able to format text in columns on the screen so that the information must be stored in the file so that it can interpret the provision in such a manner.

  Then why can't I copy that it's on the screen and paste into several columns of text in Excel?

  I did several searches on this and have not met anyway to do this using the player.

  There is no such thing as spaces or "column breaks" in the PDF files. Each word, each character, you see is placed on the page regardless of everything above. When you export to Excel (or any other format) attempts of application of "guess" what the file structure should be and convert it into a usable format, but it does not always succeed because it is an extremely complex operation and there are a lot of factors involved.

  For example, the spacing between the columns in the screenshot above is not the same. Whose to say that the text in the second column is not actually part of the third, because they are very close to one another? To the human eye, it's easy to see that they are separated because there is a line between them and because the second column contains numbers and the third argument contains text, but for a computer algorithm which is a very difficult decision to come to.

  • long press on the area of the screen that want to select (as in the select text)
  • a highlighted area will come with 'bookends' at each end of the section
  • move the bookends to the beginning and the end of the text you want to copy
  • Press one of the bookends and a popup will appear that says 'text has been copied to the Clipboard.

  The copy process is somewhat the same in all three of these bodies.

  E-mail: Touch and hold the word or paragraph that you want to copy. You will see a selection for the word highlighted in blue, with small blue points of beginning and end. touch and drag the blue "handles" to include all the text that you want to copy. Then then tap all the highlighted area and the pop-up side will show you a COPY function.

  Then, in another field, tap in a text input area and hold a second, and you'll find pop to PASTE the right side.

  For a BBM message, tap and hold a BBM message and you will see a pop right to copy this message in its entirety, then you can paste it elsewhere.

  And, the same process on the SMS. Touch and hold.

  What I am curious about, is if there is a way around having the text highlighted and underlined go instantly to comments.  It is possible to get one or the other to automatically enter comments that could save me a ton of time manually copy and make decisions as "is - this really interesting extra of the output file size."  These decisions really slow down my reading process.  Rigth now I exported pages of stuff, and even if I can get what I export it will become unmanageable.

  The only thing I can think of is to just copy things that I wanted to specifically exported to the comments and to do everything by hand so I don't end up with a too underlined text / stressed.

  (Also, and this one is not so important... y at - it a way to save the JS I used for all the PDF files I have?)  At this time I was just copy paste to every PDF I do.)

  The forums have mangled the script (which looks strangely familiar) but if you want to only list with a specific type annotations, add a new line between these two:

  'type' has several strings defined, all documented in the software development kit. You would be using "Highlight" or "Stressed" to filter.

  If you want to run the script several times, you can put it in Action (by using the step "run a JavaScript"). Don't forget that you cannot run against multiple files at the same time that reports are not registered, then set the properties of the Action to apply only to the currently open document.

  Select the text box, and in the property Panel, you can set the text to be "selectable" box

  Select the first part of the text you want to copy. Press the command and option together and also select another passage of text. Now, press command + C to copy the two text selections.

  Yes, you can select the text using Adobe Reader DC.

  Please make sure that the PDF file is not an image scanned text or non-secure.

• When I make a selection using the lasso and try to copy the selection, nothing is copied.  Why?

  I have PhotoShop CS6 for Mac, version 13.0.6.  When I make a selection using the lasso (or any other selection tool) and select 'Copy' and try to move the selection copied, nothing is copied.  What is going on?  I can't find an answer in my search for Abobe PS or the Web site, in general.

  If you still use the selection tools when you try to move the contents of a selection, it will simply move the selection. If you want to move the content, use the tool move (but be aware that the default action is to cut; use Opt (Alt on Windows) to copy the selection by dragging).
