Cover the problem of crack on Satellite P100

The external plastic of my laptop has started to crack near the hinges. I called Toshiba some time ago and they said that because it was just apparent defects, it was not covered by the warranty.

However, it has gotten worse over time, the plastic part is broken now and I'm sure that this will lead eventually to need me to repair. Is there a way I can email Toshiba?
My guarantee is now sold out.

Hello

Unfortunately there is no email support, but I suggest you contact the nearest available toshiba servicepartner and talk with them. The link to find one is here:

    I found very interesting news:

Blue LED speakers are registered models shipped with the NVIDIA graphics card.

  • Cannot send the Dolby Digital XP on Satellite P100-347

The problem I have is that I can't get the Dolby Digital to send from my laptop to my amp, apart from the use of the library. I have the portable (Tosh P100-347) connected to my amp via a SPDIF cable.

Basically, in Media Center, I am able to change the settings, so that the amp captures the Dolby Digital signal, during playback of a DVD from the laptop, however, I am unable to get this transmitted signal during playback (HDTV) videos that are stored on my laptop. I know they are encoded with dolby digital.

Also, if I use another player media, such as media player and media player classic, I'm not able to get the signal digital dolby conveyed either.

I took a quick glance and think I have changed what is necessary, but still can't find anyway to do. I would get this sort you like playing HDTV content from my laptop and also play the latest games in dolby digital when available.

    Help, please.

    Hello

Check please the sound properties in particular speakers and under Advanced settings, select speakers 5.1 surround sound.

I hope this will be help!

  • Restart the problem after booting on Satellite Pro L20 - approx. 4 seconds

I have a toshiba satellite pro l20 series and it worked fine until yesterday.
the problem is that it restarts... Well actually, he stops in about 4 seconds after the start, remains closed for 1 or 2 seconds and then again
same problem occurs with or without the battery.
all I see is the Toshiba logo. I can enter the bios and when in the bios it does not stop.
When I get out of the bios, saving the changes he stops. and then begins by itsself after 2 seconds.
Please help me... How can I fix?

    Hello

If the laptop goes through the Toshiba logo then maybe there is just something wrong with the software.
In this case, the first step should be again install the Toshiba Recovery CD.
Put the CD in the drive and try to boot from the CD.
After installation, all should work properly.
If it's not, so I guess there is a serious problem and service guys should check the laptop.

  • Fingerprints and the remote control supported on Satellite P100-387

P100-387 has a fingerprint and the remote? Please, someone answer me.
    Thank you.

    Hello

To my knowledge, the Satellite P100-387 does not support the fingerprint reader and is not supplied with the remote control.
    But you're right.
The fingerprints and the remote control are optional and some laptops in the P100 series support fingerprint reader and are delivered with command remotely.

I also found this site with P100-387 material specifications:

  • Stuttering problem with Vista on Satellite P100-347 pspA6E games

I lived several forums and tried many solutions, bios downgrade (up to v2.4), different drivers, using the riva to detect as a gt gfx card, but whatever it is I always make the problem of stuttering in vista. I've recently updated the bios to v4, which makes absolutely no difference.

I tried to run the games with the smallest possible settings, but it's the same when I throw them to the highest. Most of the games ran on xp with the downgraded bios, but I paid extra for vista and im im going to use it. My model is a pspA6E, 7900gs 512 MB, 2 GB ram, 200 GB hard drive, running on vista (with patches).

    Can anyone help.
I spent a lot of money on a laptop that does not produce as it should! My gpu overheating also all the time.
Y at - it something can be done or im reinstall xp?

Hi gazzoondi! I know that accactly what you mean. I did everything that crossed my mind too, to solve the problem, but without any result. Dosen´t seams Thosiba care custumors here and let their responsibilities to us.

I tried to contact Nvidia also on a snap with no result... So I guess we're stuck with this...

If it's a Direct X driver look or a conflict with the sound and graphic driver I know Don t. But if I uninstall parts of theatre and its pilot games that I still have the same problem. My guess is therefore a pure graphic driver problem.

  • How to install the OS on my new Satellite P100-347?

    Hello!

I just bought a P100-347 last Friday. It was the last cell of its kind in the shop where I bought it and as if I find myself with a view model.

No problem with that, the laptop is in very good condition, the only problem is that whenever they took the view that they re-installed the operating system and so they add a password to the administrator account (which XP is created whenever the OS is installed).

I contacted the store to ask for the password and they say, they do not know (or that they do not want to give him...).

What should I do now? Format the drive and run the Toshiba recovery cd to reinstall the OS? Is the operating system that is included on the product recovery CD? If I re - install the operating system, I can give a new password?

    Thank you.

    Hello Tiago

The best thing you can do is to install the new OS. To make this recovery delivered using DVDs please. Recovery DVDs contains the operating system, all the drivers needed and of course all the Toshiba designed tools and utilities.

After that this laptop will have factory settings again and you can configure OS and set your own password.

If you need assistance please write again.

    Good bye

  • The fires of speaker on Satellite P100-429

Is it possible to turn off the blue lights under the harman kardon speakers on this laptop? It seems silly that a multimedia notebook designed to play DVDs has these lights distract when you want to watch a DVD in the night, and the battery life is (relatively) low compared to other laptops?

A Toshiba engineer can just strike up a 'no guarantee' command line utility if it is not something already to do?

    Thank you

    Benjamin

    Hello

This theme on the lights of speaker has been already discussed here in the forum. Why don t you first use the search option to search for similar themes?
It is a rule in all forums; looking first for the similar posting, and then post a question ;)

However, the satellite P series laptops seem to be delivered with lights and without speaker lights. It depends on the laptop model.

You will find units with lights inside and without the light under the speakers:

    The noise stopped working.
Toshiba diagnosis explains his failure, but after all the rest is good, any ideas?

    Hello

That said the State of the sound card in Device Manager?
You don't see any yellow exclamation?

Have you tried to update (restore) audio driver?

Have you checked if the 'secret' was not enabled?

You hear something using the headset?

Please check these simple steps, and view the results.

  • Is it possible to change the function of the buttons play/Pause on Satellite P100-347

    Hello.

I would like to would like to know if there is a way to change the play / pause button on my phone to stop the opening of windows media Center. I like to use itunes to listen to my music and the other buttons (back, forward and stop), all work with other programs, but there is no way to use the play and pause function without opening of the Media Center.

It seems that you can only change the internet and function of CD/DVD in the Panel.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Just reply: no, not possible to change playback / pause feature keys s

The Toshiba control utility offers two options.
It allows you to assign and select a program for the internet button and touch CD/DVD.

  • Satellite P100-347 - problem with the judgment during the game

    I have a problem with my (pspa6e) Satellite P100-347

After about 10 minutes of play time with games like battlefield 2, the SIMS2 and so on... my pc stops...
I knew it was close because of high gpu or cpu temp...

I felt that my laptop was warm, but after playing for a while its normal...

So I installed HWmonitor to check my gpu, CPU and disk hard temp...

    That's what I show:

    THRM: 61.C - 141.F

    CPU: core0\1 - two 64.C - 147.F

    GPU: turn 85 stable - 90.C
    This normal use... no games...

    HARD DRIVE: 39.C

Something must be wrong! GPU temp is too high?
I tried a fresh install of the OS...

Thnx for all the help and answers!

Hmm these times can be a little high.

Most likely there is dust in the radiator. You can use compressed air to remove it. Or as a miracle solution, blow into the vents dust closes in contrast to air circulation.

  • Satellite P100-221 cover breaks definitively

    Hello to everyone.

Maybe someone could help me what to do next. I have bougth netobook Toshiba P100-221 in August 2006.
After that 4 month (Dec. 2006) the lid broke the first time. The cover has been replaced by ASP.
Then coverage broke once more after 4 months (April 2007). Replaced ASP.
Third time lid broke after 9 months (January, 2007), and once more, it was repaired by ASP.

Now, in January 2008 the crack appears once again (4 times) on the cover.
The frequency of this defect by taking account, looks like it is a technical problem that attaches to the side manufacturing.
I just received a response from ASP they can offer me a pay service.

Could someone advice how to solve this problem eventually?
Maybe someone who reads this post works for Toshiba and could help me?

    Hello

One of my friends noticed the same coverage cracks on own P100.
He called the ASP and the cover and hinges were replaced just for free.

In your case, I recommend you contact the ASP in your country and ask if the guy have replaced the hinges too.

Unfortunately, there is no alternative to replace the two parts mentioned!

    Greetings

  • For the Satellite P100 PSPAGA RAM question

    Hey guys

This is my first post and I couldn't find any help anywhere else about this and so I have a few questions to ask.

First of all how to find the type of ram I was wheather it's 533 mhz or 667?
As I was looking to buy 667 sticks, that would happen if I put 667 in 533 locations or vice-versar

Secondly, I rang a place asking a price on RAM and they said if I put more then 2 gigabytes on my laptop it would be and I quote "BLOW UP".
I was a bit confused when this chick said that as it says in the online manual I can have up to 4 GB in my laptop.

It would be actually the case or this chick has no idea?

As shown in the topic I have a Satellite P100 PSPAGA 014001 or p100-400 that I thought it was called: D and I currently have 2 sticks of 1gig ATM and I have only 2 memory slots

Would appreciate any help or advice that I am looking to buy and update in the coming days to 4 GB

    Hello

Check your chipset that was installed in your laptop. Then check the properties and specifications of the chipset, and you will know how much it takes care of the RAM.

    With regard to the 533 Mhz or 667 Mhz;
As Akuma already said you need to use the 533 or the 667, but I wouldn't mix the RAM modules. This could cause some compatibility problems.

    Welcome them
