Crack/tear on a ThinkPad L440

Dear community of Thinkpad

I have something strange with my ThinkPad L440. During the closure of the screen, the left hinge did a crack/tear in the plastic cover at the back, near the air inlet and the port of the charger. Does anyone have the same problem or is it just bad luck? It's my first ThinkPad and I have read a lot of good things about the ThinkPad but it really disappoint me. And it's only 8 months...

  • ThinkPad L440 screen brightness

I recently updated my BIOS Lenovo drivers and software page and it seemed to have locked the brightness of my screen to the maximum setting. I tried restarting the computer and setting in the windows menu, but still within a framework. It's too light to use in dim situations now. Any help would be appreicated.

I have the same problem with my L540. It started with the BIOS update to version 1.65. Because I have not found a solution, I went back to BIOS version 1.64, where all the brightness options are there and are working properly.

I think that with the solution also works for the L440.

You can download older versions. When on the page with the new drivers for the L440 (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037283) go to BIOS driver 1.65, then choose "learn more." At the end of the next page, you will see all the old versions.

You can install the version 1.64, you should choose the Option "Secure RollBack prévention" in the BIOS: restart the computer. When you see the option "to interrupt normal startup, press enter", press ENTER. Once more, press ENTER. Press F1 to enter BIOS Setup utility. Click on 'Security'-> then "update Bios UEFI Option'-> then"set RollBack prevention. " Change this option to "disabled". Press F10 to save the configuration changes and exit.

After you restart Windows, you can install BIOS 1.64.

Another possibility is to wait for the next version of BIOS...

  • L440 ExpressCache driver for windows 10

I upgraded my Thinkpad L440 to Windows 10 yesterday. Everything works well except the cache of M2 16 GB I have here. I tried the drivers for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 to make it work, but it does not work. So when Lenovo will give us the driver for this cache? Or any workaround?

    Nice day.

  • W540: What drivers do I need?

So I installed Windows Pro 8.1 (64-bit) on my new W540 (clean cloth on a recycled SSD), and I'm downloading drivers. On the Lenovo site, there are three different drivers for the card/SD card reader:

    1. Pilot of Alcor for Windows 8.1 chip card reader (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit,) 64-bit - T5 of ThinkPad...
    2. O2Micro Media Card Reader Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit,) 64-bit - ThinkPad...
    3. Realtek Driver card reader for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit,) 64-bit - ThinkPad...

Which of them should I download?

In addition, there are two drivers LAN:

    1. Intel PRO/1000 LAN Adapter software for Windows (32-bit, 64-bit) 8.1 - Thi (Gigabit Ethernet Driver)...
    2. Intel PRO/1000 LAN adapter software (Gigabit Ethernet Driver) for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - ThinkPad

Again, I'm not sure that I need.

Yet another. Intel bluetooth has two options:

    1. Software Bluetooth Intel for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - ThinkPad
    2. Software Bluetooth Intel for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - ThinkPad L440, L540, T440, T540p

Note that I have the Intel Dual - Band AC7260.

Finally, the pilot of the Optimus covers both the NVIDIA K2100M and the Intel HD Graphics?

  • Connector for the main thinkpad R60 touchpad tear

    Hello

Yesterday, I removed the palmrest to install my new RAM. But accidentally, the thin wire that connects under the palmrest touchpad to the main has been torn out. I have already released the connector on the motherboard and accepted the fact that the touchpad is now unusable. I also disabled the touchpad in the BIOS.

But what worries me is that this would affect only the touchpad or it will affect other parts of my motherboard?

    Thank you.

    Yes, it should be correct.

  • ThinkPad L460, cannot get the BIOS through WMI settings

We used the official instructions and VBscripts Lenovo to set up the BIOS on the laptop ThinkPad T440, T450, L440 and L450 via WMI. It worked well for a while now.

A few weeks back, we received our first batch of portable computers ThinkPad L460 (with 10 of Windows), and I went to check and update the scripts of BIOS. The first thing I tried was to get a list of all the BIOS settings, the use of the ListAll.vbs script (available from the link above) and then through the PowerShell commands listed in the PDF (skl_deploy_01.pdf).

On previous models of ThinkPad the ListAll.vbs script would return a long list of avilable BIOS settings (or "configuration items") as well as their current and possible values. On the L460 that it returns nothing, not even an error message:

    C:\temp\Script>cscript ListAll.vbs
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host versjon 5.812
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Med Enerett

    C:\temp\Script >

This isn't the same performance you'd get if you run the script not elevated command or on a non-Lenovo computer. In these cases, the output looks like this:

    C:\temp\Script>cscript ListAll.vbs
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host versjon 5.812
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Med Enerett

    current value =
    possible settings =.

    C:\temp\Script >

I found an old net on the forum describing a similar problem and suggesting it was caused by a third-party software or a customized image of Windows, but the issue is present on both W10 Pro portable computers L460 stocks provided with images, a clean install of W10 Pro version 1511 (ISO downloaded directly from Microsoft) and images of company W10 custom of my organization.

I tried upgrading the BIOS to the most recent available (1.13). That did not help.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause? We received a pretty low amount of laptops L460 so far, so it's kind of feasible to configure all the parameters of the BIOS by hand, but I prefer not having to do once the laptops start to arrive in large numbers. It is both a waste of time and error compared to the configuration script.

  • Updated card graphics L440

Is it possible to update the graphics card on the L440?

Good day and welcome to the community.

As with almost all cell phones, the graphical subsystem is integrated with the CPU package, or if it's a real GPU discreet, soldered to the system board. In some cases a particular machine may have been offered with integrated or discrete graphics. In this case, a computer with integrated graphics could be upgraded via an exchange of the system board.

In looking at the list of RUF L440 parts pg2: https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/l440_fru_list_20140825.pdf

you will see two types of system boards. One is 'Integrated Graphics 4600' and the other is ' NVIDIA N14M-GE with 1 GB ', you do not have this option, but it could be costly.

You can see the equipment manual: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/l440_l540_hmm_en_sp40a26004_03.pdf

to get an idea of the physical task.

    Hope this helps to clarify.

    Kind regards.

  • Can I put a palmrest on a thinkpad t430s thinkpad t430?

Hello! I was wondering something. I bought a t430s thinkpad with a crack in the palmrest. I want to replace it with a new one. The price on the palmrest t430 is cheaper than the t430s. That being said, I can put a palmrest t430 on a t430s? Also, I could install an RPF (he has a moment). Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi Bigboy61,

    Welcome to Lenovo Community!

  • L440 F-Keys/hotkeys

Is it possible to automatically allow the F keys as F - key on the L440? They are automatically activated in mode Hotkey, which is the equivalent of the Fn + on all previous ThinkPads. It will be counter-spontaneity for our business users and probably generate calls to technical support unnecessary.

I checked keyboard of Windows 7 and BIOS settings, but can't find an option.

    Thank you

FN + Esc has solved my problem.

  • Wireless adapter for Thinkpad R61I

I have a laptop Lenovo Thinkpad R 61i bought in India.

I wanted to know if I can install a wireless to this machine to use adapter.

If the answer is Yes, then please suggest me that make recommendations and the model of the wireless adapter for buy.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey guys,.

Well, finally it seemed to have sorted the issue myself. After both to investigate and navigate the lenovo site, I decided to tear down the laptop.

I mean remove the foot screws and check what the question was... I locate the Wifi adapter that came with the machine and took note of the brand and the model.

After that the hunt for the pilot Bernard who took hours but finally a 246 MB file was found on the lenovo site and after installing BOOM I my work wireless as never before.

However I place an order online for an internal wireless adapter that encrypted on INR 1662, a waste that I'm trying to cancel.

  • Audio cracking & popping up on X 1 (Type: 1294-3QG)

    Hi all

A few weeks ago my ThinkPad Levono X 1 (Type: 1294-3QG) produces boring crunches and snaps during audio playback. These sounds are audible on thez built-in speakers and the headphone jack. It happens that the media player and whatever the volume level. When no music (or other sounds) plays pop/cracks disappear.

Does anyone have an idea what can be done about it?

I should add that my machine is only 2-3 months old and still under warranty. If possible, I would prefer fixing the problem myself rather than send it to repair (I can not really missed).

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Reinstall the audio driver seems to have solved the problem (for now).

  • URGENT - HP Envy 4500 - bought today, each paper folds and tears

I just bought the HP 4500 printer all-in-one today because I need to print some documents for a new job starting tomorrow and don't want to go to an internet café. It was apparently a bad idea.

I bought the printer, set up wireless for my computer, etc. It prints the leaves very well, but EACH piece of paper it prints is folded in two corners and torn. Sometimes it comes out (slaughtered as shown), it sometimes causes a paper jam. Anyway the folding is the same.

NOTE: I can HEAR it crease the paper as soon as it feeds into. Its that feed fast noise and instant cracking. The rest should happen after that.

I cleaned the rollers, including smaller HP videos consider the most important. Nothing.

Solution please? I need this for tomorrow and am frustrated! I bought HP because they are supposed to work. Don't surprised theres no fix for it online, even if a lot of review this issue of paper folding / tear.

    Hello

I'm the original on this poster. Good news - it get sorted. Bad news - I don't quite remember what I did.

What I remember, was that this was NO software / driver / install related. I've taken apart (only the bits that you are supposed to take part, pulling out the drawer on the bottom etc., remove the rollers, nothing else) and put the new.

I think THAT what was causing issues for me has been the bottom plate. I think - and perhaps wrong, for a long time that I looked at the instructions - he suggested that you pull slightly on the set down, or plastic type bit, when printing. To make my printer stop creasing / tearing, I now just don't remove anything. Everything I do is flip down that hatch at the front, but leave any otherwise entirely contained inside the unit (and make sure that the bottom plate is pushed as far as possible to the rear of the unit), and it works perfectly.

If it works - post a message here so that others know that it also works? A few others save some pain! Strange as HP don't rethink just this design as so many people have this problem and it is a very good printer otherwise! Frustrating.
