  Reference Dell Open Audio in the control panel. Go to advanced, energy management. Disable the option to disable audio devices.

  I do not have the Audio from Dell driver installed - and it seems that maybe the default setting is that the speakers put in 'sleep' in the context of a power saving mode. Looking at my description above I even referenced at the time of the issue seemed to be that the speaker was not long in 'waking '.   You have a few options as I see it.

  It depends on what kind of Crackle you get.  (Yes, there are different types/causes).
