CRC errors & IO devices errors

HI, I'm having a problem installing some of the games I bought. I have a problem with i/o Device Erros & CRC errors everytime I try to install in my windows vista computer. Is it possible to install these games, I can manage or should I buy another game?

Hi timeoutmode,

Please use the Microsoft Windows 7 forum.

I a detailed description, causes and resolution error CRC errors and i/o device , you might be interested to read it through.

CRC errors

What are CRC errors

CRC Cyclic Redundancy Check is a process that helps identify any errors that might occur during the process of data transmission. The data is usually transmitted in small blocks, and a CRC value is assigned to each block and transmitted with it. This CRC value is checked to the destination to ensure that it matches the CRC value that is passed from the source. A CRC error occurs when the two values (source and destination) do not match, the test fails. The main advantage of the CRC, is that it helps you ensure that the data you have received or downloaded is not damaged or corrupted.

Causes of CRC errors

CRC errors can occur due to a lot of different types of problems. Some of these problems are:

1. damage to the file during the transmission process.
2. a problem occurred when the file has been sent.
3. problems with the device that is accessing or opening the file.
4. problems with the file itself.

To resolve these problems, you can try the following:

* Make sure that there are no problems with your network connection or a modem.
* Try to retransmit the file.
* Try to send the file using another method or connection.
* Ensure that the file has been sent using the correct format.

I/o device error

The Windows error "I/o device error" means there is an error in the computer's ability to read the data when you try to install a program or to copy data from your CD or DVD drive.

This issue is likely to occur when Windows tries to use a transfer mode that your CD drive cannot use or does not recognize. To resolve this problem, you will need to change the transfer mode in your IDE channel properties.

Measures to change the IDE properties

1. click on the Start button
2. right click on my computer
3. Select manage from the menu that appears
4. in the computer management window, select Device Manager
5. in the right pane, click to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
6 identify your CD/DVD drive in the menu expanded and right click on the appropriate drive
7. Select Properties
8. in the Properties window, click the Advanced Settings tab
9. in the Transfer Mode box that represents your CD/DVD drive (typically device 1); Open the menu drop down and select PIO only
10. click ok and exit all windows

If this does not solve your problem, then you need to go back using the procedure above and change device 1 to #9 step will support to 'DMA if available '. Then, change the device 0 to "PIO" only in the Transfer Mode box.

For reference, the device 0 is the primary IDE channel and unit 1 is the secondary IDE channel.

After you change your settings, make sure that restart you your system so that the computer recognizes the changes made. After you restart, check settings to ensure that they are implemented. If they are, your device should now work correctly.

  • CRC error on large compressed files (.zip, .rar, .cab, etc...) The installation fails too...

    Hello world

I have a new Dell computer. It's a Dell Studio 540 with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit, with 1 TG of hard drive and 8 GB of RAM. I have problems with "decompression" of a large number of large compressed files (more than 50 GB). Also, because the files on a DVD are often compressed (in the cab for the majority file), the same error occurred on an installation package. Thus, to resume, I got CRC error on compressed files, while opening the zipper AND my different types of software installation fails with errors of Sami.

Before you answer, please read my steps below:

    1. I reinstalled Windows Vista 2 times from scratch with a clean format. Whenever I get the same error on the same files even when there is nothing installed (even the drivers are not installed).
    2. I tried to run Windows XP Mini, a very light version of XP is the launch of a CD at startup and run in RAM. The same problem.
    3. I did all kinds of tests of the material myself AND with Dell technical support. Nothing was found, and I'm sure it's 99.9% true. Everything has been tested: RAM, hard drive, processor, motherboard, etc. The Dell technical support told me that my computer is 100% functional and that this error is due to some software (Windows) does not very well with 64-bit processor... Everything works well in my work all day EXCEPT for the decompression of data.
    4. my files are not damaged: they unzip perfectly on other computers. In addition, the program that do not install because of the CRC error with compressed file are all used before on another computer OR are new. I even changed DVD to the store to get a new one and the problem is still there. I also tried to download the torrent from the .iso file and the same problem happened.
    5. the files on my computer are not corrupted by the hard drive. I copy keys usb, directrly on the DVD to the hard drive. All possible tests have been done on the files, and they are ok.
    6. I did all kinds of tests such as checkdisk, spyware, etc... but given that the installation has not helped with it, I don't think it's related.

My last hope is here... MVP is maybe know a problem in which Windows with zip files. I read a lot of people of the CRC errors, so I'm sure something happens. I am currently with the Dell customer service to get a full refund to buy a new computer without a 64-bit processor because it looks too new for Microsoft.

So if anyone knows something I could try, tweak, change to help me with my problem please let me know.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello!

This morning, I realized that I never returned to close this topic. In fact, I work with dell for a number of weeks, talk to like 10 or 15 support technical Member, try something else and you know what works?

Reinstall windows... But in my case, I have reinstalled windows 2 times before they ask me to do it again. So I did and everything worked perfectly... For the third time is lucky: P in fact, perhaps during the first installation of 2, RAM has not been installed properly or has failed for a second, because every file that has been read has become corrupted, but at the same time, everything is normal on my computer seems to work ok... In addition, it could be the update that I did for my BIOS. So, a good test would be to update your BIOS, shut down your computer, check if the ram is installed ok, restart, verify that your ram is detected.

After that, reinstall your windows, but DO NOT use the file you had on your "not working version of windows. I lost a lot of backup of the thing on my computer because even put on my new fresh install of windows, these rar did not work. I needed to pick up an old DVD and they worked

So, I hope this will help!

  • Sims 3 gets CRC error during installation

Hello, I would like to know how to get sims 3 to work on my laptop. I downloaded it but it happens with a crc error during installation. I have read that this can be caused when your computer needs to defragment if...

To try to solve this problem, I downloaded a cleaning and defragmentation program. I cleaned my computer and tried to Defrag. I then discovered that I could not defragment if I had vista sp2. I downloaded sp2 eventually with the help of an advisor. There were a few flaws that prevented me to download it myself. Now I have sp2, that he will not yet be defragmentation without gel. So I can not even download the sims 3! Its very frustrating and I was wondering if you could help me to sort this please?

Hi, I have the same error when I tried to install it on my pc.

    What I did:

    1. run the cleanup utility on the Local C drive windows disk

    2. restart your computer.

3 run ccleaner , then click on "cleaner".

Then, got to 'Register' then click Scan then click Fix all issues...

    4. prior to installing the Sims 3 game, clean installation disk using a disk cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Make sure the disk is dry until you load it in your DVD player.

    5. once the installation is complete, restart the computer. Then, refer to steps 1-4.

  • Close an interface based on the CRC errors

We have 4510 with double 10 gig links to 6509.  When one of our interfaces begins to accumulate the crc errors its impact on latency and availability of our users behind the 4510.  Either the interface err - disable or manually stop us it and the other link 10 gig is unlocked by spanning tree and the traffic starts to flow as usual.  Is it possible to use the EEM to detect these errors and entry of the crc and stop the interface?

I'm looking at the below as resolution:

Te5/1 trap to bypass authorization event manager applet

    "event TenGigabitEthernet5/1 setting input_errors_crc entry-op name interface entry-val 0 entry value output-comb type or output-gt exit-val 0 exit value type op - the exit time 5000 output-event-polling interval of the true 100 maxrun 10000.

action 1 cli command "configures terminal.

Action 2, command cli "te5/1 interface.

    Action 3 cli command "shutdown".

An EEM applet will work for you, but the way you have it designed could not do what you want.  Try this:

authorization of monitor_te51 event handler applet work around

event interface name TenGigabitEthernet5/1 setting input_errors_crc entry-op gt entry-val 0 increment type entry exit-val 0 out of operation eq output-type increment

  • CRC error during the file hard copy

The hard file is the virtual machine on VMServer 2.0 running on winXP OS host and client OS winXP. Recently we intend to move the virtual machine on a new computer, and when we try to copy the hard file to another PC (via network) or on an external hard drive, the copy always failed in the middle with CRC error. We tried to do a chkdsk but did not find any problem with the hard drive, so we think it might be the bug in the such hard mentioned in the following threads:

    http://communities.VMware.com/message/60134

    http://communities.VMware.com/message/13921

The second thread has proposed a solution to build the virtual machine using .pln instead of hard, but is there a way to convert existing hard file .pln?

This bug has been addressed in the latest version of VMServer 2.0?

All the information and experiences on the similar bug will be appreciated.

the two posts that reference you are so old that they no longer apply

I saw myself of crc errors recently, when using a virtual machine on an external USB drive.

The problem was a dying USB - port was not working correctly I also had bad blocks on the disk.

So the first thing to do is to check your hardware.

I've not seen crc-errors due to bugs vmdk in 5 years - so you can exclude

    Hello

I'm trying to restore the operating system on my mother in laws equium. I say yes to erase the entire hard drive and it gives me the plugin screen of your power to say and that is to copy the new files, then I get a crc error internal to the Y then a different location each time (usually in music).

I tried to use another drive of toshiba and also just an os disc. I tried a disc hard diferent and also another dvd player.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    Clare

    Hello Clare

Please don't get me wrong, but your ad is quite confusing.
Each Toshiba laptop comes with the pre-installed operating system and install recovery disc. New laptop models are supplied without disk recovery, but with the recovery image saved on the HARD drive and it can be used for the installation of operating system.

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop do you have and do you use original Toshiba Recovery for the OS installation disc.

To be honest I don't know what to do, you mean under another drive of Toshiba or just OS disk.
It is not understandable that you think average with different hard drive and also an another dvd player.

The whole story is extremely confused. It will be nice if you can provide more specific information.

  • Crc wireless P60 errors

I can not connect my P60 to the local wireless network at work. I have a good signal (the router on the same desk), but Windows just goes to "detecting network type" and then said that the network is out of range.

Atheros client utility shows that I'm not 100% crc errors and no packets received ok.

I tried to remove and reinstall the drivers and also the donwloaded later on the Toshiba site.

This indicates a hardware failure? I felt so I got the screen repaired and have not tried the wireless since.

    Hello

You're talking an Atheros utility then I suggest that this software is installed on your operating system.
AFAIK the Atheros Client utility to configure your wireless connection.
In this case, the Windows wireless configuration must be disabled.
Please, go to the wireless options and disable the option use windows to configure my wireless network

  • VCE vblock, LSI_SCSI: Reset for device \Device\RaidPort0 ERROR in VM Windows Event logs

Hello, I have been a problem for some time and I can't seem to understand this issue. Basically, the VM freezes but returns after 30 seconds.
I found the problem was present on all data warehouses and even showed errors for for guests (san boot) boot sector. After changing the round robin at the fixed path on data warehouses to use a specific fiber channel switch LSI_SCSI errors were gone on all data warehouses, VM ect... everything worked normally.
We have an installation program VCE vblock with UCS (blades), Nexus 5ks and VNX.

So basically, we were troubleshooting paths FiberChannel beside the UCS to the VNX. We have changed ports on the VNX SP but side A was always bad / good B... Compared the configs of nexus for the two, identical configs/features beside the specificities as VSAN ect. Examined the configs for the UCS, but are fundamentally the same with Setup on the side B, but everything looked good. Nothing is defective.
I noticed Tx errors on ports of module e/s and CRC errors on ports in the Nexus. Thought it might be a bad fiber so I replaced... The problem is always present. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Data Center:
    UCS: 5108 Chassis, IO module 2104XP (2.2 (3g)), blades B200 M2, fabric 6120XP interconnections (5.2 (3) N2 (2.23 g))

    5.5 ESXi update 2

    2 nexus 5ks

    VNX 5500

I found the culprit, SFP. The FPS that were used throughout the entire upward was incompatible and FUBAR would. Not match speeds, single mode when it should have been multi ect. Just all around the nightmare. It's on EVERYTHING from the VNX to IOM simply ridiculous. After completing the gutting of the SFP and the fiber, replacement and then delivered at the point of the chassis of the UCS everything was great. Honestly, I don't know how it worked at all with this configuration. Anyway, if you want something done you have to do it yourself.

  • Satellite U200 - 181 built-in HDD ERROR

"Toshiba Satellite U200-181", I bought 2 weeks ago. Recently (2-3 days ago) I have problem with built-in HARD drive.

So the problem is that sometimes I get the "Built-in HARD drive ERROR" message when starting the laptop. This integrated "Disk ERROR" message appears from time to time and the system shuts down the HARD drive starts, but can start from other bootable devices. First time where the built-in "Disk ERROR" message took place, he was accompanied by a lot of strange pop sound beating from the inside of the laptop. All others

"HARD disk ERROR" messages were not so strong and strange beating pops, but always with some pop sounds (not as strong as the premiere).

To identify possible problems, I saved S.M.A.R.T. data log (see annex 1).

Additional information: after I bought the laptop I ve made successful update BIOS version 1.40 version 1.50 strictly according to Toshiba site official instructions. After BIOS upgrade system works well, no ERRORS, no exceptions. But 3 days ago I received the message"built-in HARD disk ERROR '."

    Any ideas? Thank you.

Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) errors are usually associated with the hard disk errors.  The best first approach to solve this problem is to do a complete check of the disk.  The short version of the procedure to follow is:
Under "My Computer", right click on the C drive :-> properties-> tools (tab)-> 'Check now'
Check out the options and 'Start '.  He will complain that it cannot do it now and tell you that it will do so at the next startup.  Accept the warning.
Restart your computer and let it complete the disk check.

    More info is here:

  • Error code: 80070017 (cannot install updates)

OK so I tried to fix my computer grandfathers for the last three days and he repeated to me that there are 2 important updates but I'm trying to install and a code 80070017 error keeps popping until I do?

    Hi Jessica,.

CRC (error code) errors occur when there is a bad spot on the media of your hard drive. Repair disk and data recovery are often possible with the right tools.

    Let's try the following:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

, Type sfc/scannow go and let it run.  It will scan and try to the difficulty of some of your system files.  If all goes well it will complete with no corruption, could not be repaired (if there are these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  They tried to set itself to run at the next reboot.   Answer Yes and restart to run the program.  It will scan and attempt to resolve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a potential cause.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, please send in your reply the names and update KB numbers and the exact version of Vista used (e.g., 32-bit Vista Business SP2).

    Good luck!
