Satellite L500 - ERROR = copy of splitpart or Canadian Red Cross failed!

Well, I tried to reinstall vista with the cd/dvd recovery I ordered. I tried both versions 32 and 64 bits on disk, but as soon as it reaches a certain point on disc2 (copy some .swm files 7/9), the error "copy of splitpart or Canadian Red Cross failed!" appears.
I googled on the CRC errors, but I think I can exclude most of these things such as cable, the scratches on the disc, a.s.o. loose connections unless it has something related to the hard drive... but I could install non - oem vista without any probs, not sure if it's really hard partner.
I hope someone can help me here.

Hmm maybe you need to format the HARD drive first?
Clear all all the partitions to format HARD drive and try again the recovery disc may be a few partitions tables start affect installation

If there is something wrong with the recovery disk and maybe you need to order a replacement

    Hello

What seems like the old installed software need Framework 2.
Eventually he s is not compatible with the new framework

You may have to remove the installed frame of the system first.
Then after reboot again and cleaning of registry (using CCleaner for example) you could install 2 new framework

    Hello

Please try to configure the default BIOS by using the F9 key in the BIOS.
To access the BIOS F2 press immediately after the laptop is turned on.
Then press f9 and save changes

I recommend that you test the HARD drive as well... use a tool called 'Test of fitness Drive' for this...

    Hey Buddy,

I m a bit confused now... Do you have Windows 7 or Windows XP?

If you miss some drivers after installing XP, why you update the BIOS?

As far as I know Satellite L500 is supported by Windows XP if you can download all the missing drivers and tools of Toshiba's official website:

    Check this box!

    Claudiu Hey,.

What kind of DVD that you use to create the Toshiba recovery disks? I got also some problems to create a recovery disc but I changed DVD + R, DVD-r media and everything was ok! I used Verbatim discs to create because I have really good experience with this kind of discs. In addition, it seems that TDK discs also work quite well. Check this box!

If it doesn't work check the Toshiba page for an update of the firmware of your WEIRD!

  • Satellite L500-1XL - strange Windows 7 error - hardware failure or virus?

    Hi people,

I am running windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite L500-1XL.

About 6 weeks, Windows refuses to load.
I would get the "Toshiba" screen, then on startup of Windows startup, but then nothing else than a black screen with an icon of the mouse (mobile).

I could not in safe mode, and Toshiba built in recovery utility would not work.
"Even using the Toshiba ' product recovery" DVD did nothing, even if the drive was some strange, repetitive clicks for this, so I suspected a faulty hard drive. (Possibly where the MBR has been OK, but the data weren't?)

In any case, I put in a replacement HARD drive (backups are a wonderful thing BTW!) and DVD recovery charge perfectly and everything seemed fine.

About 2 weeks later, I had the same problem
("Toshiba" Windows startup splash screen, but then nothing but a black screen with a mouse (mobile), no safe mode icon; no recovery utility)

This time, however the product recovery DVDs worked fine first time.

Another 2 weeks and the same problem will reoccur; This time, it took another HARD disk for the recovery media to work.

So my question is, really, what could be causing this anomaly?

Would it be a virus which is corrupt something that is preventing Windows from loading? And the 'prevention' so that I can not load even the recovery utilities?

In this case might it also prevent the loading product recovery DVD?

Or am I looking at an intermittent fault with the connector on the HARD drive that can be either physically damage the drive or at least prevent it from loading?

I read about the so-called "Windows Black Screen of Death", but I'm sure this isn't that.

All the advice accepted with gratitude...

    > So my question is really what could be causing this anomaly?
I doubt it s a virus or something like that, but nothing is impossible.

In my experience, the data on the HARD drive can be affected by different software.
In my case, the data on the HARD drive was corrupted, because the 3rd party software changed some files and the master boot record is damaged.
I formatted the HARD drive and created new partitions.

I also use the CCleaner and I defragment the HARD disk several times in the week.
Since the HARD drive and the data are ok and didn t notice such symptoms more.

Maybe you should try this too

  • Problems with my Satellite L500

Hi all, I currently have a toshiba satellite L500 running windows 7, 3 GB of ram, 350 GB hard drive...

It was working fine until a couple of weeks before, when my computor kept popping up message in the right hand corner down saying windows error, critical error, youre hdd is missing, lack of RAM etc etc, a window pops up telling me to do a scan of the system which I did and it came with all these errors very bad... He them pops up a dmemory calle program optimizer and told me to scan and do a Defrag... I did... and then the next Julien knew, the hard drive has disappeared from my computor, I couldn't access what on the office, but was able to open tab between pages, I already had. then it all crashed.

I did a cover on mine, and the error seems to be fixed... but then would only work properly in safe mode. so I got a repairman who charged me $188, reformatt the entire disk, put on a copy of the full version of kapersky and office...

the day after getting home, I noticed when I was typing things and the cursor would move on the page its own id end up typing in the middle of what id already typed, so frustrating! then the man tech suggested, I download a program called touchfreeze... and fixed it...

now the last day or two, ill be working on my laptop and it starts just a black screen... and it will pick up when I press the mouse pad, or it will completely turn off and switch to "standby" mode...
theres no parameters of sleep or hibernation, so somehow screensaver nothing... and as I said, it happens when laptos to use, approximately every 15 minutes and happens several times... any idea on what he could eb question?
I'm sure other issues with my laptop and it just said it was a virus...

Hey man you bomb us with all these questions, and your last issue is quite confusing.
Before starting the discussion tell me a: are you using the Toshiba recovery image (OS original you got with your laptop)?

now, when I start it with the cd of windows XP blue screen 'windows setup' inside start but when its finished loading, it gives me an error code:

I read somewhere that I need to download SATA drivers for my laptop and do a disc to install windows xp with the SATA drivers on it?

I tried to get these drivers, but I don't know that I have need and how to do the installation disc
I copy my original windows XP Home cd and put the drivers in a folder somewhere on the disk?

I hope someone can resolve my problem because the laptop is just over a year, and I don't really want to buy a new...

I just hope that you created the recovery DVDs until you started to install own OS. After clean operating system installation you not longer have access to data recovery.

You are right. For the installation of Windows XP Home edition, you need SATA driver. How to install Windows XP Home edition on the new laptop models that you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm

In the end, I must say that your last sentence is pretty confusing to me. You bought the laptop designed for Win7 and you want to use the old WXP on this. Do you really think you need to buy the new laptop if you want to install Windows XP Home edition?

  • Satellite L500 - 152 Display driver Sims3 plus

    Hello. I use this thing = [Satellite L500-152 | http://nordic.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?LNG=18&service=ND#tab3;] .
And it was fine, until I came out and me Sims3 and Sims3 World Adventures, after installing both (+ in order correct ofc +), when I tried to start them up, I can not for the game Launcher, because an error message blocks my way...
"* There was an error during startup. "Check the log for details."
No info for don't nabs like me, about the location journal. And when you press the button available only here, the frozen Launcher naturally also closes its doors with her.

So I checked google and found that people who have had the same problem, just changed the display driver to one that is supported by the game, I discovered that mine was not, I have * "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series."

_Sims3 taken in charge the radeon drivers are: _
    Series ATI Radeon 9500, 9600, 9800, X 300, X 600, X 700, X 800, X 850, X 1300, X 1600, X 1800, X 1900, X 1950, 2400, 2600, 2900, 3450, 3650, 3850, 3870, 4850, 4870, Â Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) GMA series 3 Series 4 GMA.

If someone could help me, by discovering what driver of the foregoing (as appropriate), will work on this laptop and tell me where to download it, I would be very very very happy :)

Those who changed the driver perhaps no laptop and desktop computers. There is a big difference.
Support drivers is much better for desktop computers.

Problem is that the drivers for laptops are slightly adapted and designed for optimal graphic operations.
I'm afraid that this with updating the graphics driver will be not so easy.
It is always recommended to use the drivers provided by the manufacturer of the laptop. With the help of some third part and untested graphics card driver may be forced to run on a maximum and there is risk of damage or surprise. So be careful with this stuff.
