Create a Machine 'clean '... Install Thinapp well?
Hi new to the thinapp SW and test now for internal... Just need some clarification. I understand that I should create thin applications on a clean machine base, produces better use VM to create this machine and take a snapshot in order to return to the machine clean. It's logical.
Im confused on the subject, it is what I have to constantly reinstall "VM Thinapp" after I restored the machine clean? Or can I install Thinapp VM based on it then take the snapshot and VM Thinapp is part of the clean machine?
Just a little confusing on best practices for implementing machine clean and who need to use Thinapp SW
You can run the pre-scan of ThinApp on a clean machine and then take a snapshot of the virtual machine. When you restore the snapshot, capture Setup is ready to install the application to continue postscan. In this way, save you time. Personally, I do this on my VM

Backups Time Machine missing after model clean install
For a Mac using Time Machine to back up, is there a way to clean install OS X for a new internal SSD and keeps backups Time Machine historical which have been made using the previous internal SSD? While as I use it to back up the new internal SSD TM, TM will show the backup history of both the previous internal SSD and the new (up to the capacity of the disc from the TimeCapsule).
MacBookPro8, 2 I used Time Machine on a time Capsule TB 3 towards the rear for 2 years. No problems and shows 2.24 available 3 TB.
Last night I did a clean model 10.11.5 install a new SSD, and a transfer application, the user accounts Migration Wizard, etc. Since the previous flash SSD disk internal (format / installed the new SSD, attached to the internal SSD previous via USB flash disk, then started in Recovery Mode to clean the installation model to the new internal SSD and when prompted did the previous internal SSD Migration Assistant).
Everything no problem above went very well. But now when I "TimeMachine enter", I see that the most recent backup made (before the clean install). The right navigation (which goes in reverse chronological order of the lower part of the screen to the top) seems to show the date on which the previous backups have been identified. But if I click on a date, TM Finder main window does not scroll from that date. The top / arrow down buttons to the right of the main window of Finder TM also do not respond to clicks.
So far as I can tell, I've lost all TM backups except the most recent. I have all saved data elsewhere outside time Capsule, so between that and the 1 backup, I can see in TM I have not lost anything.
If I had done the Migration Wizard from the TimeCapsule rather than the previous internal SSD flash drive, would that have kept all historical TM backups?
Thanks for any idea
Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.
If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.
The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.
The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.
Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.
The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.
Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.
Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

HP Pav 23-q105na AiO: perform a clean install on new machine
Hello
I would like to do a clean install on a new machine of all-in-one HP I have and would like to know about activation of a couple things.
The machine comes through OEM Activation 3.0 (OA3) or by Product Activation Windows (WPA). The reason why I would like to know this, is that once the own installation took place, automatically Windows know that the machine has a license valid Windows 10 and will be so it turned on once he gets online?
Please note that when I got the machine, I let it install the version of Windows 10 comes with the machine, and made sure it has been activated. (recorded with the MS servers)
I will also be wiping the part of the resumption of training as well during this process.
Kind regards
Richard
Hi TheOldMan,
I have now completed the clean install on the machine and it activated fine. I had media via Windows Media creation tool.
He activated properly, so now just re - installs all the necessary drivers / programs again. I have another machine I boaught at the same time, so now do the same for this one. I used ShowKeyPlus to check and verify my key before starting.
Thanks for the reply but.

My PC has a virus; My anti virus would not repair it... After doing a clean install of Windows XP, I remember reading that I can delete a file named 'old machine' if the new installation worked. I installed Microsoft Security Essentials... For 3 days, everything worked was great until this evening...
Tonight, I ran an update of virus definitions and then run the 'full' scan Microsoft Security Essentials has notified me that I had a few threats. There was also a warning on a temporary file and asked if I wanted to send it to Microsoft I did...I am trying to be proactive and prevention viruses take over this machine again... I remembered reading after installation 'own' that I should remove the file 'old Machine' if the computer works well after the clean install? .. .also had a warning on a temporary file.Any idea where I can find the 'old machine' file; (I thought the clean install would remove all)... I did a search on my computer and come with nothingHelp, please!...Hello
Step 1: You can remove it in c:/Windows. With the help of old cleaning disc.
In the disk cleanup, select the previous installation of windows. Put a check mark to remove it.
Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. After downloading Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit student supply store online, I have now three files: Win7-HP-Retail-en-us-x64.exe, Setup1.box, Setup2.box.
How to create an installation disk or an ISO image of these files, so that I can do a clean install of Win7 in a new virtual machine?
It turns out that it's a known issue:
I hope this helps.
Please give the points if you found it useful.

I ordered a new SSD to upgrade my 2011 MacBook Pro that runs on OS 10.7.5. I would like to install own El Capitan on the new SSD. Can I save my current hard drive using Time Machine and an external hard drive and then re - download my old stuff in the new SSD? Is this possible at all?
Basically, I want the new SSD to be as clean as possible. Obviously, I would only the files and applications on my computer current to be transferred. I would be grateful and recommendations on the best way to do this. Thank you.
Look at these links for orientation:
I would format the new SSD in Mac OS extended (journaled), personally Run Time Machine to install your data and then install El Capitan. In the end, it's your decision.

Clean install of Snow Leopard backup Time Machine
I'm swapping computers with my daughter. Both MacBooks, one with installed Yosemite, the other with Snow Leopard.
We have backed up our files to separate external drives. Now, I have two related questions.
1. If I understand correctly, we can now delete all the contents of the MacBook Snow Leopard and do a clean install of Yosemite or El Capitan before (or at the same time that?) from the TM backup data recovery. This hypothesis is correct?
2. the content of the Snow Leopard system should be installed on the MacBook running Yosemite. What's the procedure here? In other words, it is possible erase the drive, and then start the computer into recovery mode is to have only the Time Machine backup?
TIA.

When I try via the Finder, files look for empty to me while info shows that they are not.

I have finally reached my backup via Time Machine, it was temporary unavailable yesterday.
Thank you guys!

A new system with a clean install of Win 7 64 bit Pro. Try to install win XP virtual machine. The virtual machine "put" file installs and then restarts. During the configuration phase it reboots it gets 94% done gives a message 'update failed' and said that no files have been modified. I redownlaoded the file and reinstalled several times. I changed the bios to make sure that hardware virtualization is enabled. All tests that microsft has said that my Machine is fine. However I can not get the software\update of the virtual machine in order to install properly. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Bruce

You might give this a go.
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

Possible hard drive after clean install failure
Appreciate it really all thoughts on this issue, because it drives me crazy and apparently get worse...
I added 8 GB of RAM and an SSD Samsung 840 PRO in a Mac mini in 2011 about three years ago. At the time, the Fusion drive has just been introduced, and I found the online instructions to configure the combo HD SSD/existing as a Fusion player. After ironing out a few bugs, it worked perfectly (at least from the point of view of the user) for nearly three years. Significant speed increase, could handle more intensive applications of multiple users, etc.
Three weeks ago, I decided to do a clean install. I wanted to get rid of all accumulated waste, as well as some of the Notification Center widgets don't work properly. Immediately I noticed the startup time is longer, but once connected, all seemed well. Just moved old files to the new system from a Time Machine backup, and everything worked well. In disk utility, it looked as if the OS has created two discs as a Fusion player, so I left as what.
A week ago, I started notice stuttering in the downloaded movies in iTunes, which never happened before. Around the same time I started having the spinning beachball while running almost nothing: Safari with less than 10 tabs open (no video game), iTunes (inactive), Mail, etc... Impose anything. I performed first aid in disk utility and found no problem. I kept the activity monitor for the last 24 hours with nothing significant, other apps does not not showing the spinning ball.
I saw someone else evoke here EtreCheck, so I did that and got two red warnings:
Macintosh HD (2) /: 621,05 go-go (295,75 free) - 31 errors
Drive failure!
This error arose in both sections of the HD, as shown below:

I guess at this point that OS X put in place the incorrect Fusion drive, causing conflicts... But I don't know what to do about this. I have several backups, so this isn't a problem.
This community is a great resource, thank you to everyone who adds. As I said, I'd like to advice for this...
I think it is obvious that you have a disk failure. Could be the SSD, HD, or both.

I did a clean install of Windows XP SP3 Vista Ultimate SP 1. It was a total reload once installation is complete I used the insall system update all the drivers. Now Manager of battery will not work right, when I boot it hangs with an error rundll32.exe. I tried to uninstall and reinstall and allowed me at least open the program a bit, but there is no power management in the Manager. He says that I can create a new, but he does not appear once it is made. I can't counter is displayed in the taskbar and at this point I'm kind of at a loss.
Any help would be great
Thank you
I have actully solved my problem. What I had to do was reboot the machine and after Vista installation was done I did the installation of battery first Manager and just downloaded from the section the T61 drivers (without using the update system) then once the battery Manager installation manual was full (it was then works well) I ran the system update to install the rest of the drivers and utilities Lenovo. If apperentally battery meter do not be installed via updater. My sugestion would be so to reload the machine once more and battery Manager install before running system update this is what worked for me.

My R61i starts very slowly, and I think to do a clean install of XP. I don't remember getting a drive when the machine was new, but have an OEM CD of XP Pro. I've not done this before, so I need a detailed instruction. Or is there a better way. Once the computer is booted, it still works pretty well. He should just never to boot to the top.
Hello dond.
For a new installation of XP, I would recommend to create the General of recovery, if you haven´t already.
You can check your startup time with a piece of software called soluto also.
Just google for it, it's free too.
This software you indicate which program needs as much time to load and you can turn off it is quiet simple.
Vijay has already written a blog post about it.

Wipe the hard disk, reformatted and did a clean install of OS7 home (fossoyées pro hoping group domain policies and etc. would not be a problem). But they are still there. Reinstalled again. I can't remove the files manually, give me permission. Loading guard who looks like a fake update file, but I can't delete that either. I'm at my wits end. I also have a problem with one of my Outlook email accounts, displaying a string of what looks like a key under my user name. I have dealt with this for 2 months. had my machine to two different local mechanics and nothing. Even exchanged the motherboard and the drive. How's it relate? I do not even use the same key. The only way he could do it is through my network connection. (Disabled Wifi too).
I read something on the Panther Trojan and I do not have a file of Panther on my machine (which again, I can't delete). I didn't even think that HOME version had this kind of remote administration and yet it moves it. Its load of 32-bit strange file and run it on a 64 bit system. I don't know what to do from here. I can't get a version of Windows installed which does not suck up all my processing power and crazy amounts of data transfer. I pulled out an old HP Pav and am now loading XP on it. At least I will be able to view and edit files it contains. I don't think safe, even check my email on this machine. (I use my ipad for that).
Here are the results of the queries from the command line, screenshots and event log shears. Since I was the last reinstall at about 21:00 there are 294 Logon and created special logons. Not to mention that I had an another windows machine and one android corrupt their hooking up to my Dungeon phone. The worst is a 10 years ' worth of my design files holding external drive. Sighhhhhhh...
IM so sick of looking at this. Im going to bed and hopefully not dreaming about it. If someone can tell me how to stop this happening, I would SO appreciate it. Support for Windows is a joke.
I have run 3 different programs of Virus Scan on it, reformat the drive twice (wiped to zero once), and used three different install media (three different versions of Windows. 0 s 7 home, pro and pro OS7 OS10 (7 pro is what I was running when this began).) Again, it is after that I paid two services of different repair to diagnose, pull the wireless network card, replace the motherboard and replace the disk. After that I freaked out on them they began to throw the installation discs and Home keys. lol seriously, I might as well throw my money down a hole. (the key I've finally pulled the machine isn't that I've never owned?) I guess that's why I'm trying so hard to get pure installed, I already so much money in it. I should probably just give up and load Linux.
If I ever get my hands on this bloody trusted installer it is a dead man. Thanks in advance!

I bought this media 2011 27 "iMac used earlier this year as a refurb from a dealer. It came with El Capitan installed, but I have the feeling that they had a facility upgrade compared to a clean install. The computer suffers from slow start and loading slow program (but once it loads then its fine). It's the same with my old iMac when I did an upgrade to Leopard years ago snow leopard, and erase the disk and performing a clean install OSX (and put files and programs back with Time Machine) has solved these problems then. So I thought it wouldn't hurt to try a clean install on this machine.
But read the tutorials I noticed that if you are not the first owner of the computer, then you cannot install updates OSX without resetting the computer? Although I WAS able to install the OS via the App Store updates (and I thought that I linked my Apple ID to the machine when I put initially in place), won't install not mean I should be able to clean, or it will have to be completely reset?
Yes, I've run disk utility and checked my HHD drive, it works fine. The entire machine is nice and quiet, not making abnormal sounds or perform exceptionally, it's just really the slow start in OSX and slow loading programs that are the problem.
I also recently created a Windows partition and installed Windows 8.1. It starts and runs decently faster than OSX, so I think it's just a problem with OSX and not the HHD himself and do a clean install will be hopefully solve problems. This computer has given me a lot of grief, creating a partition to install Windows 8.1 (unlike my old iMac) so wouldn't really really really have to wipe the HHD together to "change the property" and having to mess with which once again...
It 'sounds' like since the app store IS letting me install OS and updates to program with my Apple, I SHOULD be able to start in the RecoveryHD Partition and ID here to make a new install of Mac OS x on * just * my existing Mac partition. And this should not erase my * any * HHD, just the Mac partition. I'll save my whole Windows partition just to be safe, however. I could not find a guide which deals specifically with only reset the OSX partition and not wipe out Windows in the process, so I want to make sure I have my facts straight. I had planned on OSX reset and then restore my files with Time Machine. However, I also want to assure you that this will allow me to go even and reset the OS in the first place, given that I am not the original owner of the iMac and I don't know if they reset it correctly.
Sorry for the extremely long question and TIA!
Open the Mac App Store, make sure that you are signed in with your Apple ID and click on the purchase tab to see if El Capitan is associated with your Apple ID. If this isn't the case, you will need to download it so it will be associated with your Apple ID. If this is the case, you are all ready.
Are updates to OS X, not the buyer, so you can install all the updates, but the OS needs to be associated with your Apple ID.
I'm not sure about Windows, how did you install Windows? With Boot Camp? You should be able to clone on another drive (if you have one) using Clonezilla. Then wipe and reinstall El Capitan and put in place the Boot Camp partition and clone back.
