  to know if different hosts (UC) support a common mode of EVC, search for the hosts in the VMware Compatibility Guide and click on the link of model of CPU for more information on EVC modes supported.

  each data center has these 4 folders root (vm, host, network, data store). They do not appear in the vSphere Client (well, technically, they are represented by the different points of view "hosts ^ Clusters", "Virtual Machines and templates",...), but they are there in the vCenter data model. Thus, even the cluster that you created in the vSphere client has been created in the folder 'host' of the data center, the vSphere client just does not show you that.

  Therefore, at least use these root folders to place your orders in a datacenter.

  I have just joined a company that ESXi installed on a couple of data centers, they have invited running on these boxes already and use Fibre Channel SAN for data warehouses to store all the VMs on.

  Considering the virtual machines are powered and are run on the SAN is it possible to create a cluster in this data centre including all the boxes of ESXi and SAN, without data on the San be wiped?  I'm afraid that create the cluster can clear the LUN and start over.

  If I understand your facility, you have vCenter in place and all the ESXi host is managed by vCenter.

  Now you want to create a cluster and add the host to the cluster, yes it is possible to add the host to the cluster without impact to the data store.

  I've got vSphere V4 and V4 vCenter.

  I built two new hosts vSphere V4.

  On one of these hosts, I created a new virtual machine that is running vCenter V4.

  I have now created a new Cluster with HA and DRS active.

  I put the first host in the Cluster without any problems (just hung out in the Cluster and the Wizard add a host popped up) - there is no VM currently associated with it.  I noticed the installation of the Agent as part of this migration - entire process only takes a minute. That the migration went well.

  Now, I want to put the second host in the Cluster. It's the vCenter running a V4. This makes me hesitate!

  My question is - once I said to the new host to the Cluster - this completes successfully or vCenter will remain as part of this approach in the Cluster? i.e. the vCenter can stay "up" and be moved to within the Cluster when the host that is running the vCenter VM on is that moved in the Cluster?

  I know I have the feature HA and DRS, once the host is located in the Cluster, but it's going to crash all well during the initial migration in the Cluster?

  I read a bunch of articles on the vCenter virtualization... and it seems rational - there are a few caveats and potential problems of course - but this one I'm trying to make is not specifically mentioned.

  Any notice or the most popular procedure.

  Go ahead. It is not necessary to stop a virtual machine to add (or remove) an ESX host to a cluster. The virtual machine will suffer.

  I created an area that has only adminServer. I created using config wizard and used the Oracle Service Bus option - 11.1.14(Oracle-OSB1). In the next screen, I have deleted creating managed server (Oracle_OSB1).
  I ended up having just adminserver.
  
  Now, I want to expand this area with adminserver to add the managed server and cluster.
  Any suggestion/documentation will be very useful.

  OK, in case you do not want to add any additional products/services then it is possible to do using config wizard. There are many other options available. Please see the section "configuration of cluster methods;

• FS7610 error creating cluster NAS

  I have one Equallogic FS7610 I am trying to add to my Equallogic Group Manager. It is all fresh out of the box, so I don't have my client network and DNS to the top yet.  I do see the unit and start the wizard to configure.  I can't seem to put in all my configuration options, and then try to click Finish.  I get an error:

  There is no specified NAS cluster

  Is it because I don't have the client network and DNS upward?  He's trying to see if there is a group of the same name to join before the creation?

  All this against the new material, so I will try to upgrade the firmware.  I've updated my Force10 S4810 and PS6110.  I was told the only way to update the FS7610 was part of the storage.

  It's Friday, so I'm away for the weekend.  If I can't find a solution in the forums, I'll tag support Monday.

  Just to close it.  This was caused by not only not all 8 interfaces connected.  The unit will not deploy with a gradient on the network config.  It would have been nice if it check it out rather than failing in a weird way.

• Cluster of Freeway with deployment of FW DMZ port 3

  We currently have one Highway C & E with E deployed behind an ASA according to 3-Port FW DMZ with only VCS Expressway Interface LAN (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/unified-communications/express...), so the E has a DMZ IP address and uses only one LAN port.

  We must deploy a new pair of C & E as a cluster for resilience.

  My question is if the cluster can be configured using the IP of the LAN 1 DMZ address unique or if we must activate the LAN2 and connect within the network for cluster communication. It's a deployment of layer 2, so if it takes a second connection the E could have an IP address for clustering on the same VLAN as the primary.

  For Expressway-e: Yes, you must enable the LAN 2 interface. You will also need to make LAN 2 your address to the public since only LAN 1 can be used for clustering. LAN 1 cannot have NAT enabled on it when there's a cluster. It is documented in Creating Cluster Cisco Expressway and Maintenance Deployment Guide (page 9). Don't forget that this LAN 1 and LAN 2 should be in separate subnets, you can not create just a second host IPv4 address in your existing DMZ subnet.

  I'm under BDE 1.0.0 build 332. I get this error whenever I try to deploy a cluster BDE - regardless of size (small | medium | large) or selected distribution. Is there a place I can find additional information on what means this error and how can I do to fix?

  After the addition of a network resource to a VLAN known, unfiltered, the deployment of the cluster was able to complete successfully.

• ESXi 5 setting up Cluster after the fact

  I have 4 ESXi 5 servers in VMware ESXi 5 environment; each server has 6-8 Windows 2003/2008 comments servers. It is on for about 1 year. I would now like to create 1 cluster that would include all 4 ESXi servers. I want to do to ensure that we can take full advantage of HA capacity and failover. Now, I know that I should have put in place from the beginning. If I had to do it now is there anything else I should look out for. Should I close all my guests, first of all, if I the not to scream on all clients will there be any problems? I'm looking for the best approach to move forward with this. Also, I found documentation on blogs etc regarding what parameters to set when the configuration of the cluster, but they do not seem to agree so if someone has VMware's official recommendations for the specific parameters of the cluster that would be appreciated as well.

  There is no need of customers stop to add a host in a cluster.

  You just have dark cluster first. (Do not enable the cluster first by tick HA or DRS)

  Drag and drop the hosts one by one to the cluster.

  Once guests are part of the cluster go edit cluster and select the cluster.

  My advice for you is to get some advice on the design of the cluster.

  Since its so easy how vmware did create cluster in vsphere people tend to fund groups and add hosts to them and a difficult time finding the cluster settings and some tring to understand why some virtual machines have not restarted because of a faliure.
