create polygonal links in PDF

Is it possible to create polygonal links in PDF? Could be useful, for example for interactive maps.

In the PDF specification, I read on the /QuadPoints key in the link annotations. However, I did not understand the documentation here, that it serves that purpose? Or it creates a number of quadrangle, not necessarily rectangular (8 vertex coordinates would allow it) interactive areas that may or may not overlap?

The second, Yes.

You can create an arbitrary quadrangular shape to associate with your link.  You can have as many of them as you want.

The idea of more flexible forms of links has been discussed over the years but not made not of the standard.

  • create a link to a bookmark in another pdf file

    Hello

    I'm trying to create a link to a bookmark in another pdf file.  I was reading online on this subject and I found, you can create named destinations, but it only seems to work when the files are on a Web server.

    I tried this link: document1.pdf #nameddest = section 2 but does not work.

    My files will be on a network drive.

    Is anyway to do this with files located on a network drive?

    Thanks in advance!

    What you're talking to are the "parameters for opening PDF.

    This is the documentation:

    http://wwwimages.Adobe.com/www.Adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/DevNet/Acrobat/PDFs/pdf_open _parameters_v9.pdf

    Open settings can be useful if the files are in the Web space and accessible via the browser.

    There are other methods to get PDFs in space network to "talk" to each who have greater efficiency.

  • Using the link between PDFs on a local PC (not on the web)

    Hello

    I am creating a PDF with links to specific locations on external PDF.

    Web search shows that we can do this by adding pages or named destination for the link.

    My question is made of "binding" between documents on PC work local open in Acrobat (Reader) recovered himself, instead of the documents on the web and the web browser via the plug-in?

    One related answer on thread on another forum (creation of a link to a pdf to mark an another pdf - Adobe Acrobat Windows) indicates that this feature works only when the PDF file is retrieved from a web server.

    If this does not work, could someone explain the technical background?

    My client wants to use the link between the files on the PC, so I need to make my client to know why it won't work.

    Thank you.

    I think that the page you found makes it more complicated, not less. In my view, in part because there are several different problems mixed with each other.

    The easiest way to post a link to a page in another PDF file is EXACTLY the same as link to a page in the same PDF: just create a link to GO to the VIEW. It's obvious only when we know, so people often end up with alternatives that are unnecessarily complicated.

    Named destinations are complicated, but they are good if you may need to change the target file and the file source link in the right place, even if it's another page. They need careful planning and a systematic approach.

  • HELP: How to create the link via text boxes

    I am trying to create a text through the comments toolbar box and set a link to a page in the same pdf. Using the Connector tool does not show an option to create a link to a text box or in the text created through the typewriter tool. I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro. Thank you

    An action to go to another page in the document can be attached only to a form or a link object field. When you add text using the typewriter tool that you add an annotation, which cannot do.

  • RoboHelp 9 - link to PDF

    I'm trying to create a link to a PDF file I added to a baggage file in RoboHelp 9. I drag and drop the baggage file in my topic help, but when I generate the help file (WebHelp) the link does not work. It does not appear to be linked to the security settings on my computer in IE11, given that I tried on other computers and it does not work there either.

    I would really appreciate help to understand what I'm doing wrong, because I would like a link to several PDF documents in my project and open them in a new window.

    Thank you

    Sally C.

    Mark of The Web (MOTW) is an option that is designed to allow the content to be displayed in the browser. It is IE specific.

    When you generate WebHelp, the 'recipe' used (in your "recipe box" or the carrycot single Source Layouts"determines the behavior of WebHelp. According to selections made for your recipe of WebHelp, there are different pieces of JavaScript that is added for each of the HTML pages that end up in the output. MOTW will cause an additional line of code to add.

    When the Microsoft IE browser load a local file system page (something starting with a drive letter) it normally balk at things such as JavaScript because they are considered a security risk. MOTW is designed to avoid that from happening.

    The downside is that the links to things such as Word documents or PDF documents will not work.

    Normally, once you copy the WebHelp to a web server (NOT a network server) these links and then work fine.

    See, when a Web server has content, he finds himself in the location of temporary Internet files. By default, this location is 'safe', because the operating system has walls around him preventing access to your local file system of content If the content was allowed access to the local file system, they could do some pretty nasty things for you.

  • Link to PDF: Blank Page

    Hello world

    I appreciate all the help I've gotten so far in my DPS adventures!

    I came across a problem I'll describe as best I can:

    • I made a PDF of test called "test.pdf" with happy test in this regard.

    • I ziped the file alone in a HTMLResources.zip file

    • I've used folio Builder to download the zip file.

    • I created a button (just a blue circle in the middle of my page) who has a go at the URL: ' HTMLResources/test.pdf' on the release or the tap.

    • I got the update and whenever I try to test the button, the application in browser opens, but there is a blank page instead of the contents of my test.

    Everyone comes through this?

    I was able to open an html page in the same folder: ' HTMLResources/test.html' but not the pdf file.

    Thanks in advance,

    Kenny

  • How to create a link in Acrobat that only works on specific layers

    Hey there!

    Currently, I am working on an interactive organizational chart (PDF) for our Organization. Opens a list of processes by clicking on the various departments. Now, I want these processes link to some external documents explaining these processes. I managed to do it, but the link works on all layers, the actual menu is visible or not. The current structure is created in Illustrator and then exported into PDF file. In Acrobat, I added the buttons to toggle the different layers.

    My question is to this effect:

    Is is possible to create a link on a specific layer, which works only when the layer is visible?

    The problem is that if people click in a white box a link can be selected. I hope you guys can help.

    Download an example of my problem: http://sdrv.Ms/1gQLT8I

    Kind regards

    Simon

    Note that it has currently a bug in the way annotations work on a BCG. The link will disappear, but the bounding box of the link will remain active access point. In your case however the bug can be useful, as if two link objects overlap part of the page and isn't on a BCG, turn off the BCG neutralizes indeed the hotspot.

    Follow this procedure to see what it can (and cannot) do:

    1. Tools > Production printing Panel, open the preflight
    2. Select 'of individual corrections"- the third icon
    3. Click on the "Layers" section, just so that things will go in a logical place
    4. Click on 'options' then 'create new correction before the flight '.
    5. Name it "put all the links on the links layer."
    6. Click on the category "layers" and scroll down the list on the right to choose "put the objects on the layer.
    7. Identified by a check 'Objects' menu, choose 'Annotation's type Link
    8. The layer name, enter 'links '.
    9. Click OK to save your new control.
    10. Assuming that you have a document open, select your new correction and press the Fix button.

    You will be asked to save the file under a new name, then you will get a message on the layers being change and you to close and reopen the file (this is a limitation in the preflight, until you do the new layer will not be displayed).

    To understand how the bug of BCG-nonOCG overlapping, now you have a link on the links layer, create a new one using the normal tool (which will not be on the layer). Demi-chevauchement them and see what happens when you put the market layer.

    The best way to test is to create an empty document and add a link "go to a web page" with a visible rectangle-, and then when you migrate it on a layer, you can probe for hotspot hovering your mouse and look for the ToolTip of the URI.

  • Open a new window when linking between PDF docs (link originates in a Word doc)

    Hello

    I saw this discussed historically general topic, but couldn't find any resolution.  I have a Word doc (let's call it A.doc) linking to a PDF doc (let's call it b.pdf). Once I have convert Word doc to PDF (A.pdf creation), I want the link en.pdf to open b.pdf in a new window.

    I've seen a number of suggestions that indicate that I can set up the link in Word to do this, use her change the hyperlink > target frame > frame target > 'new window '.  While this works if I click on the link in Word, it does seem to "reporter" once I converted A.doc to A.pdf.  When I click the link en.pdf then B.pdf opens in the same window in time.

    I know how to add manually link in Acrobat.pdf to do this, but I don't want you add manually the link every time I create A.pdf.  I want to create the link once in A.doc and did delay in time, and then open the b.pdf link in a new window.

    I've seen suggestions on adding some HTML somewhere.  Unfortunately, they are not, that I'm viewing the PDF files in a browser.

    I saw suggestions for using the CTRL key at the same time click on the link en.pdf.  Would not be practical, because I have no way to make sure that my users will know it.

    I've seen suggestions on the use of JavaScript, but it would mean (I know) I have to add the JavaScript whenever I convert A.doc A.pdf.  Still, I won't have to do any post-processing of A.pdf after I got it to create.  I want the link in 'just work' A.doc after A.pdf is created, i.e. open b.pdf in a new window.

    This * seems * like a simple thing to do, I hope there is a simple solution.

    BTW, I'm using Word 2007 and Acrobat X.

    Thanks for your help!

    Dave

    I use Word 2003 and Acrobat 10 and links created as you describe defaults to 'new window '.

    You have the 'Open links in the same interdocument window' unchecked in Edit > Preferences > Documents?

    .. sounds too easy... (and your users will probably have to make the change even if they need this behavior, unless you have a very techno IT department that can deploy configuration files large company).

  • Link dead .pdf in WebHelp

    I added a .pdf file to my files of luggage and you simply want to create a link in a topic that will open the .pdf.

    I added the link successfully (Shift + drag... no problem), but when I opened the WebHelp, the link is dead.  I click on it, nothing happens.

    I actually can right click and select SAVE TARGET, so I can save the .pdf, I know that the link is 'See' the file.

    Why not the .pdf opens in the window?  I know I've done this before.  Please help before going to mmmmaaaaaaaaad.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    My guess is that you test the WebHelp on your local hard drive and you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer testing. When you have generated, you used the option to add the mark of the Web.

    If you want to test the link disable MOTW locally and deal with the IE yellow information bar that appears when you run WebHelp. Or configure IE if you do not get the YIB.

  • How do I create navigation in a pdf document?

    Hello

    I'm editing a very long Word document with hundreds of bookmarks leading to glossary definitions, which I turned into a pdf file. Now, I want to create something for the reader, once they have read the section of the glossary, click on which will automatically take back them to their original page.

    I know there is a way to do it in Acrobat Professional 9. It's something to do with the Bookmark Properties and execute a Menu item. I can find this dialog box, but I don't know what to do when I get there.

    Is there anyone who could possibly want either give me a step by step guide how to achieve... .or even point me in the direction to sort of a tutorial about it?

    Thank you very much!

    After you create the link switch back to the hand tool and boxes should disappear and the link will work.

  • Bug trying to create the link with the Cyrillic characters in URL

    I'm transforming words in my text on the links, but with Cyrillic characters in their URL (such as https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ хорошо). The problem is that, depending on how create the link, the page refuses to accept the URL.

    It's my preferred method (which accepts not the Pages):

    1. Write or select the text to be transformed into link;
    2. Press cmd + k;
    3. Paste the URL (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ хорошо) in the field;
    4. Hit enter or click out;
    5. When I check the link, it is www.apple.com.

    The strange is that other methods work very well.

    1 against nature (accepts Pages):

    1. Delete my word;
    2. In its place, paste the URL (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ хорошо);
    3. Hit the space bar (a link is created automatically with the correct URL);
    4. Edit the link that is created and change its text;
    5. When I check the link, he kept correct.

    2 against nature (accepts Pages):

    1. Write or select the text to be transformed into link;
    2. Press cmd + k;
    3. Find a way to build a version with my URL (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D1%85%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%88%D0%BE) escape sequence;
    4. Paste the URL with escape sequence in link field;
    5. Hit enter or click out;
    6. When I check the link, ironically, is хорошо https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/.

    To stretch more:

    1. Editing a link created successfully (with any success methods above);
    2. Changed its URL (from хорошо https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ to https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ плохо)
    3. Hit enter or click out;
    4. When I check the link, it's still хорошо https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/;
    5. Finally edited and changed its URL still once, now remove the Cyrillic (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki);
    6. Press enter, click out and he finally accepted the URL.

    Pages seems to be denying the creation of links with the URL that contains Cyrillic characters (only?), but exclusively through his little creation of link popup. I think it's a simple problem, but I'm sure it's very annoying.

    Everyone knows the same?

    Cyrillic characters in the range of table encoding UTF-8 code points u + 0400 - u + 04 FF are represented by two bytes. These people must be encoded as a percentage (read the two paragraphs of the current standard of article), as the Pages v5.6.2 will convert automatically URI to this encoding for you in the link Inspector. It will simply ignore what it considers incorrect URI links, they are Cyrillic, or even English.

    Use what is easier for you, and that Pages v5.6.2 accepts.
