CREATE TABLE and INSERT

Hello

I am a fairly new user for Oracle and have found this place to be very useful as I'm learning! One of the guidelines is to provide sample CREATE TABLE and INSERT data. I read the FAQ and in other forums to see if I could better understand this process, but I'm still struggeling reflected. Please can someone explain exactly what I do for these data, I want to be sure that I provided as useful information a lot in my posts to get help as soon as possible. I appreciate everything / all the answers!

So, something like this:

INSERT INTO skills (mu_id, external_id, skill_nm, skill_level) VALUES(220,AB,FAST,1);

INSERT INTO skills (mu_id, external_id, skill_nm, skill_level) VALUES(7,BB,SLOW,7);

INSERT INTO skills (mu_id, external_id, skill_nm, skill_level) VALUES(221,BC,FAST,1);

INSERT INTO skills (mu_id, external_id, skill_nm, skill_level) VALUES(8,BD,SLOW,2);

INSERT INTO skills (user_id, skill_nm) VALUES (AB, SLOW);

INSERT INTO skills (user_id, skill_nm) VALUES (BB, SLOW);

INSERT INTO skills (user_id, skill_nm) VALUES (BC, DOWN);

INSERT INTO skills (user_id, skill_nm) VALUES (BD, SLOW);

DESIRED RESULTS:
MU_ID EXTERNAL_ID SKILL_NAME SKILL_LEVEL
220 AB FAST 1
221 AV FAST 1

When you get a response, you want it works or is it OK if the answer causes errors?
Obviously, you want people to post answers that work.  Make sure that the code of that validation works, too.  Test (and, if necessary, correct) your INSERT statements in your own development before posting on this forum system.

The literal string values must be in single quotes.  I think you meant:

INSERT INTO skills (external_id, skill_nm, mu_id, skill_level) VALUES (220, "AB", "QUICK", 1);

Without the single quotes, AB and FAST are considered as column names or function.

    Hello
    I'm new to soa, I want to create an xml with the data from database tables, I'll have the xsd please suggest me how to get the data in the tables and insert in a file
    concerning

    in your bpel process, you can use the db adapter to communicate with the database.
    with this type of adapter, you can use stored procedures, selects, etc to get the data from your database into your bpel workflow.

    When did it call in your bpel to the db adapter process it will return an output_variable with the contents of your table data, represented in a style of xml form.

    After that, you can use the second card (a file synchronization adapter) to write to the content of this variable in output to the file system

    END;

    You are approaching this the wrong way.  Create an external table based on the file.  External tables are CSV, fixed width data in a queryable table.

    You will need to create an oracle directory to put the file in (MY_ORA_DIR) I leave it for you to do, and then perform the following...

    create table BASELINE)

    ITEM_ID varchar2 (32)

    )

    EXTERNAL ORGANIZATION

    (

    TYPE ORACLE_LOADER

    THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY MY_ORA_DIR

    ACCESS SETTINGS

    (

    RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE

    LOGFILE "dinput.log".

    BADFILE "dinput.bad."

    NODISCARDFILE

    FIELDS

    (

    ITEM_ID

    )

    )

    LOCATION ("dinput.txt")

    )

    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED

    /

    All the dubious records appear in dinput.bad. Dinput.log will give you information.

    External tables are read-only, so once you set up your file, you can create editable as a normal table.

    create table ITABLE_EDITABLE as

    Select * from BASELINE

    /

    Work done, a few lines of code.

    I can sugggest you right click on the download link and select "save a copy as" the alternative menu. This should save the form locally and from there, you should be able to open it in Acrobat.

    If you are a Mac, make sure that the form opens in preview from Apple.

  • Select values from the db1 table and insert into the DB2 table

    Hello

    I have three databases oracle running in three different machines. their ip address is different. among the DB can access databases. (means am able to select values and insert values into tables individually.)

    I need to extract data from the DB1 table (ip say DB1 is 10.10.10.10 and the user is DB1user and the table is DB1user_table) and insert the values into DB2 table (say ip DB2 is 11.11.11.11 and the user is DB2user and table DB2user_table) of DB3 that is to have access to the two IPs DB.

    How do I do this

    Edited by: Aemunathan on February 10, 2010 23:12

    Depending on the amount of data must be moved between DB1 and DB2, and the frequency at which this should happen, you might consider the SQL * COPY more control. I think it's very useful for one-off tasks little, so I can live within its limits of the data type. More http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10823/apb.htm#i641251.

    Change some parameter of sqlplus session are almost mandatory in order to get decent transfer rates. Tuning ARRAYSIZE and COPYCOMMIT can make a huge difference in flow. LONG change may be necessary, too, depending on your data. The documentation offers these notes on use:

    To activate the copy of data between Oracle and databases non-Oracle, NUMBER of columns is replaced by DECIMAL columns in the destination table. Therefore, if you are copying between Oracle databases, a NUMBER column with no precision will become a DECIMAL column (38). When copying between Oracle databases, you must use SQL commands (CREATE TABLE AS and INSERTION), or you must make sure that your columns have a specified precision.

    SQL * the VALUE LONGER variable limits the length of the LONG column you are copying. If all LONG columns contain data exceeds the value of LONG, COPY truncates the data.

    SQL * Plus performs a validation at the end of each successful COPY. If you set the SQL * variable more COPYCOMMIT DEFINED to a value positive n, SQL * Plus performs a validation after copying all lots n of records. The SQL * Plus ARRAYSIZE variable SET determines the size of a batch.

    Some operating environments require that the service names be placed between double quotes.

    From a SQL * Plus term on DB3, can resemble the command to move all content from my_table in DB1 to the same table in DB2

    COPY from user1/pass1@DB1 to user2/pass2@DB2 -
    INSERT INTO my_table -
    USING select * from my_table

    Note the SQL code * more line-continuation character ' - '. It is used to escape the newline character in a SQL * Plus command if you do not have to type all on one line. I use it all the time with this command, but I can't locate the documentation on that right now. Maybe someone else can put their finger on it.

    There are other ways to accomplish what the command copy and it is not without its quirks and limitations, but I find that there is usefulness in an Oracle Toolbox.

    Hello

    You can use this anonymous block and extend it to create the procedure. You can delete loop or leave it there and use the cursor loop

    DECLARE
       j   NUMBER;
    BEGIN
       FOR i IN 1 .. 100
       LOOP

    You can do what you want in your form processing script. But for
    much more advanced than you must write your own code.

    Just curious: what is the difference? IMHO, there should be only one table
    for messages. Can you post more details about it?

  • Problem of ball when creating tables and blocks of text in InDesign CS5

    Every time I have create a new text frame or a table in InDesign CS5 and paste information, the first row in the table or several lines of text out with chips. I don't know that it's a style at some point, I created and am now unsure how to remove or setting. I would like the new blocks of text and tables do not include by default when imported or pasted chips. Any thoughts? Thank you!

    Default values for the text in the current document are made with no selected text. Disable the chips and they should stay off (but check styles, also, you have perhaps accidentally set a style bulleted as the default and you must change the default style instead). If this is the case in all files, you must do with nothing open to reset the default for all new documents (existing files, must unfortunately be set one at a time).

  • Help in mandatory query - pulling data from two tables and inserting a

    Hi all

    I need your help for the modification of the query to get the desired result.
    I have two tables A and b. using source Insert and select the command, I need to extract data from tables A and B, then insert and C.
    Data and table structures are available below.

    Table (Source Table)

    Status of payment $
    MUL DC 20
    ONLY DC 20
    ONLY 40 PA
    MUL NY 50

    Table B (Source Table)

    State of lang units
    E DC 10
    S DC 10
    NY E 5
    PA S 5

    Based on query, I need the values in table C as mentioned below.
    Table C (Table of Destination) (necessary output query must also be as below)

    The State value

    PA 8
    DC 1

    My query is

    INSERT INTO C(STATE,VALUE)
    SELECT A.STATE, SUM ($) /SUM (UNITS)
    OF A, B
    WHERE PAYMENT = "SINGLE".
    AND A.STATE = B.STATE
    GROUP OF A.STATE, B.STATE

    But the output I get is

    PA 8
    DC 2

    Essentially to DC, I should get 1, i.e., for payment only $ DC is 20 and divided by 20 DC must be 1.
    Let me know where I'm missing.

    Hello

    It will work you need to add units in the group by clause

    SELECT a.state, SUM (dollars) / units
    FROM a, (SELECT state, SUM (units) units
             FROM b
             GROUP BY state) sub
    WHERE payment = 'SINGLE' AND a.state = sub.state
    GROUP BY a.state, units;

  • Creating table and use - part 3

    I guess that everything first, there is an unwritten rule that says if you want to perform a constant operation on a table with multiple entries, you must connect the constant. When trying to wire the output of a table to a multiply function and the table is wired first of all the constant for the other terminal also wants to be a table. For example, I wanted to multiply the matrix by 2.

    JVH

    You can either file a digital constant or drop the constant matrix and drag the constant out of it.  Everything simply because you have connected the table first, does not mean that you cannot work with a scalar value.

  • Creating table and use - part 2

    Now, I have a table. Is there a sweater way on one edit and replace it? Several elements?

    Thank you

    Hi jvh75021:

    Now that you have a table, you can perform several operations on it:

    1 - you can extract a single element using the table to Index.

    2 - after you pulled the item, you can modify it without problem.

    3 - you can replace using Replay table subset.

    If you want to remove contiguos of elements in an array, you can use the subset of the table.

    If the elements are not contiguos, you can use the table to Index in a loop.

    You can find all the table functions in the functions palette > programming > Array.
