  Well, it is certainly not a "lame".  I guess you can add fields to a form on a thread of non-event so the screen is not "displayed" (do not push in the battery of the screen still), otherwise, you will need to run that add inside invokeLater or while now the lock of the event.

  Say, if you pushScreen (MyCustomBackgroundCreatedScreen()) new, some of the screen building code can be executed before the screen is actually pushed and the rest will be executed after that.  The "suite" party (whose actual start is quite random) will throw IllegalStateException unless you put your add code (...) within invokeLater or synchronize the lock of the event.

  I did it myself - parses an XML file in a separate Thread and by creating and adding fields one by one to a display manager - and I distinctly remember having to do it the way I described.

  If it's OK or not depends on your design.  If you have only a few fields to add, that's fine, I guess.  Each addition will cause the entire screen to rearrange, which is a small performance decrease. However, unless you have a few fields of thousands (I remember this post here in the forum), you should not notice a significant slowdown.

  I'm quite new to After Effects.  I'm trying to achieve an effect where I have a triangle and then inside the area of this triangle, another triangle gets drawn.  Then the face of this new triangle gets pushed into the deepest simulating the shape.  I mocked basically place this as my before and after the idea is to use sketchup, but I don't know how to do in aftereffects.  Any help or pointers to tutorials that do this kind of thing would be much appreciated!

  If you try to reach this goal as a 3-d object you must use C4D lite or maybe same Blender (blender.org). If you just want to simulate 3D, you can simply animate layers and shape paths or create your 3D artwork that is simulated as a layered Illustrator file and create your animation separately.  Or the other technique will require a study on how to use the tools.

  Oh, I you you now. This is something that was queried on before but most often to get the glimpse of another program. You can get an overview of the current document, open but I don't think that there is an exposed method for a document not open.   What you have described initially and I think you're describing now are not the same things, or maybe they are simply not what I think you are trying to do.  What you need to do, it's first move the element to the left and it melted.  Have a listener for when the fade out is completed and have this listener call another function that changes the position x of which faded to movieclip immediately at the other end of the Group and start an another tween to fade.

  I have not worked with the Oregon Tweener sufficiently to be able to tell you how to implement the event listeners.

  When you create a new library yesterday, FCPX has not created a backup of the library at the specified location. Other existing libraries are saved correctly.   What you've done by duplicating your project is the first thing that I would have suggested, (using the copy as command Snapshot is a manual way of backup and that some editors commonly use for version their projects.)

  But that is not answering the question of why your library is not automatically back up as it should. (I guess you already checked the location of the backups in the property inspector library > storage locations.)  First of all, remove preferences when you launch FCP. We e the new empty library as a library of important one test and edit to the project timeline.  Work on something else for 20 minutes, stop and check your backups folder.  If a backup was created, I suggest to move the event/project work to the new library. Open the working draft, do a trivial edit (after another 20 minutes) leave and see if things are back to normal.
