MacBook Pro 13 "or 15"

Hello world

I intend to buy a Macbook Pro in a few weeks and I am very undecided on whether to buy the 13 "or 15" Macbook Pro.

The reason why I want to buy a Pro Macboo is to browse the internet, watch movies and TV shows. Price is not a problem for me.

I am satisfied with the 15 "because of the larger screen. But I wanted to know if he is not too awkward to use in a coffee shop, or in the car on my knees. ?

In addition, is the 15 "totally not portable?

Please please advise on which screen should I choose, the 13 "or 15"?

Also kindly give me your story on where you used your 15 "Macbook Pro and knowledge if you faced difficulties.  ??

In advance, your answer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much

MUJ.

Hi Muj:

I would recommend heading down to the apple store and the two tests.

I have an early 2011 13 "Macbook Pro. I had the 13 '' for the trip. It is a great size for travel and transport.

However, I'll upgrade to a 15 "Macbook Pro soon. Use it mostly at home, so I am not that concerned by the increase in size.

My main reason to get a 15 ", it's that it comes with an i7 image chip while the 13 '' comes with a core i5 dual chip.

Also, the size of the screen is a bit larger.

Not sure if you've already seen this video, but maybe it will give you some ideas. http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/13-vs-15-Retina-MacBook-Pro-Comparison - 2015.htm

  • Locate the temporary workspace on a MacBook Pro

    Hello-

I have a MacBook Pro bought recently which has been partitioned in Mac OS and Windows. By running software on the Windows side, I realized that I don't know how to locate the temporary workspace on this machine. In other words, on a Windows PC, there are files named 'Local Settings' and 'Temp' in which is placed a temporary storage.

Where are their analogues on a Mac, how are they appointed and how to find them?

    Thank you

    Thomas

Under/Users, there is a directory with your name. There is a whole/private directories, which are usually used for temporary work space. Is there a specific reason/question looking for files/directories?

  • MacBook Pro display problem

    Hello members of the community.

As of recently, I have noticed some glitches when feeding on my MacBook or awakened from his sleep.

The colors are distorted, usually with pink, green, or yellow blobs. Blobs cannot entirely replace the colors, they appear to be contained in a element would normally be. For example. the menu bar will be partially pink and white, but pink does not leave the menu bar in this area, and the Office has green lines on it.

I tried to take a screenshot, but the problem resolves in about 20 seconds, but it's a recurring problem.

It happens when I wake up, connection or not. I had also certain powers serious and problems of performance, such that my MagSafe LED would not illuminate when plugged on rare occasions, fan could turn unnecessarily, graphics performance were SUPER slow, and the health of my battery was running out quickly. I actually ran a report on the system at 2 different times and my quality of full load is depleting of 1.2% per charge cycle, which is very worrying. I went from 6281 mAh mAh 6138 maximum capacity after two cycles of load. I'm tracking closely it because at this rate, my battery will survive only at load cycles about 150 instead of the 1000 expected, gives me the idea that this could very well be a bad battery. The computer is also warm to the touch while you sleep, not connected to the power supply. I NAP active but even taking into account should not be hotter my iPhone did the same thing.

I have reset the SMC, and it solved a couple of problems. The charger works fine now and my performance improved considerably (which made me feel better, either it is a high-performance laptop, a 11-inch MacBook Air should not he surpass), and battery life has improved. I feel even if it uses a lot of power in his sleep. Maybe I need to turn off the NAP and see if that makes a difference. The graphic bug still persists however, and I don't have enough time to see if the max battery is depleting again.

In regards to the bug, is there something that can be done? Basically, I want to assure you that I took all appropriate measures or if someone else has this problem to see if it can be software related instead of my computer.

I have the entry level MacBook Pro with the retina, last generation.

    Any constructive contribution welcome!

    See you soon.

    Hello bernardn753,

After reviewing your post, it seems that you are having problems with the screen showing strange things on it. Looks like you already have a troubleshooting. I recommend you read this article, as reset NVRAM would be to reset your screen resolution settings that should help.

How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. Good day.

  • Sierra and MacBook Pro

Sierra runs very slowly in my MacBook Pro. All applications take a long time to open.

    A few simple things first:

-clear the NVRAM (now restart until you hear the chime a couple of times, and then release the command-option-P-R keys)

    -reset the SMC

-start in Safe Mode and start again normally

If this doesn't produce any improvement, download and run Etrecheck and post the report here.

Most often, the problem is a software conflict caused by programs that were not updated to run in the current version, or by the user who installed an antivirus or "cleaners" that cause all sorts of problems.

The report will let us know what software is running and should give a clue as to what is the cause of the slowness.

  • MacBook Pro not mounting external hard drive

My Macbook Pro (early 2015, running Mac OS Sierra) is not able to mount my [new] external hard drive (Seagate Backup Slim). It shows up in disk utility, but the volume seems shady. Nothing happens by pressing the command mount or performing first aid. Kindly help me out here.

    Hi vishesh97,

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support!

We understand your question that you have a new external hard drive, a backup Slim Seagate, which does not appear when you connect to your MacBook Pro.

Allows because it is a new hard drive, try to clear the disc first and formatting for Mac OS extended (journaled). The instructions for this process are found in the article below:

For Mac disk utility: delete a volume using disk utility

  • Question of cloning for SSD upgrade on 12 Macbook Pro

Previously, I did an upgrade to SSD on my Macbook Air to 2012 according to the instructions of JetDrive transcend. Basically connection via USB 3 and using Mac OS X to clear (and format) disc utilities new SSD, then restore again SSD and then remove the original 128 GB SSD and insert the new 480 GB SSD.  For about a month and so far without problem.

Now I'm trying to 2012 Macbook upgrade my Pro partner (on 10.11.6).  I got a Crucial SSD MX300 to replace his HARD drive.  Crucial comes with (or recommend) Acronis software.  And a lot of the messages of the forum recommend Carbon Copy Clone.

My question is if I can use the same method for the cloning of the HD as my Macbook Air (just restore disk of Mac OS X utilities)?  This time, I'm upgrading HARD drive and I don't know if something is different.  At the same time, if I got lucky the first time, I don't not ruin Macbook Pro my spouse this time.

    Thank you.

Yes, you can use disk utility to clone your MBP wives, but unlike CCC, it will not clone the recovery and Partition.

  • MacBook Pro died after using 2 external displays

On Monday this week, I got a new MacBook Pro. I downloaded Logic Pro X that I use with my keyboard plugged into one of the USB and my audio interface (hearer iD14) plugged into the other. I also use a LG monitor and a Samsung. To do this, I connected a KÖNIG hdm-switch on the HDMI from the MacBook and then inserted two monitors in the switch. It's all very well worked for several hours until the screen went all weird and then the computer is completely dead and it is still very, very dead. I tried now hold the power button for 10 seconds, but that does not help. I also tried Ctrl + alt + shift + power, releasing and pressing the power button once again, without a bit of luck. I tried to load, what does not work either.

2.2 GHz Quad - Core Intel Core i7, 6 MB of cache L3 (turbo boost up to 3.4 GHz)

    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM memory

    256 GB of flash storage

OS X pre-installed (not sure if Sierra was installed when I start the computer for the first time, so I don't really know and now I can't check, so...)

As the computer is dead, I wasn't using the charger. Then causing do this? Or is it because I used the hardware (monitors, switch) that are not Apple? Or is it simply not recommended using external monitors with MacBook Pro? I really don't understand if I fried it by using it in a bad way, or if I just had a bad luck to get a product with property damage or something.

I really need to use two monitors, so I hope that's not the problem...

Someone at - he experienced something similar to this?

I would resume, they are intended to support two monitors im pretty sure and I use mine with a dell monitor and it is not a problem.

I would say that what you have done is proper use of the machine, so says apple is not the Dell XPS 13 build 3 screens 4K...

  • MacBook Pro crashed trying to load Mac OS Sierra. Can't back up.

Try to upgrade to Mac OS Sierra.  Have a MacBook Pro (2011).  Latest operating system running.  Make the backup.  Downloaded Mac OS Sierra.  Settle.  Installation failed.  Retried, installation failed again.  I now trying to recover from a backup, but can not get the system to start.  I have only a screen with several languages, I chose English, but he was just sitting there with several languages scrolling on the screen.

    Hey Rocket281,

If I understand correctly, you tried to install macOS a few times and it failed. Now you're stuck on language selection screen and it will not progress. I recommend you read this article, it explains how to start on the recovery screen and install a new version of Mac OS or disk utility to repair any problems, it can be seen.

To boot from recovery macOS, hold down the command (⌘) r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release when you see the Apple logo.

    • Backup restore Time Machine: Restore your Mac from an external hard drive or a Time Capsule that contains a Time Machine backup of your Mac.
    • Reinstall macOS*: download and reinstall macOS on your startup disk. macOS (command-R) recovery installs the latest macOS version installed on your Mac. macOS Internet recovery (Command-Option-R) installs the version originally supplied with your Mac.
    • Get help online*: use Safari to surf the web and find help for your Mac. Links to the Apple support Web site are included. Browser plug-ins and extensions are disabled.
    • Disk utility: Use disk utility to repair or Erase your startup disk or another hard drive.

  • I have no sound coming out of my macbook pro and see a red light in the hole of the listener.

I do not have its coming out of my macbook pro os x 10.8.1 but if an earphone is connected I hear the sound and there is a red light through the matter of earphone. What is happening to you can help me?

The red light of the headset jack means the MacBook Pro thinking that an optical audio cable is plugged into the port. Try to have disconnected and reconnected a headphone plug into the port several times. There is a tiny sensor inside the port that determines if the port is operating in analog or optical mode. Something similar by plugging should trigger the sensor and restore the analog signal.

If you don't feel capable in doing so the folks at Apple Genius Bar will be able to help.
