  • Failed to create the restore point

    Hello

I think I can off the coast caused a problem if I ever recover my laptop which is a Pro L450D phone by changing the settings in the system protection box in windows 7.

I was looking to create a restore point before I upgraded to Windows 7 with service pack 1 and in the creation and restore area I noticed that 3 disks were available to have system protection turned on but only 1 was actually activated system protection? OS Install (C) had no active protection system and I think the recovery partition, WinRE (D) allowing for the protection system was the system disk, I'm not sure at 100%, but of course the 3rd entrance was my DVD player, in any case what I did I clicked to turn on protection for the disk OS Install (C) and an error pops up saying that it was not possible I clicked on ok and when this error went off the screen I noticed that the drive is now enabled for the protection of the system, but he was now also the system disk? and the 3rd disk seemed to disappeared from the region where the available drives appear? I'm a t a loss as to what happened but I think the worst cases, it's that if I ever want to recover my system through the recovery options, I'm not able to by changing the settings of the system, any help on this will be appreciated, I created the recovery disc when I first bought the laptop before I did anything else still with a bit of luck , I hope that this will be my go out the wrong card if I need to use or restore the system in this way.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi stevieboyfitzy,

Do you want to create a restore with the built-in Windows software point or what software you used?

Well, if you are installing Service Pack 1 I put t he of needed to create an additional restore point. I installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 on both my notebooks and installation was operating normally, no problem.
In addition, I would like to make a backup of all important files on an external drive such as USB HDD.

If you have already created the Toshiba Recovery disk that you are on the safe side. In the case where I would go something wrong, you are always able to restore the original settings. ;)

In the search programs and files box, type system restore and wait a second. Above to select Create a restore point ant the next window appears.

Make sure the Protection settings are on the disk for which you want to create a restore point. Select the drive and click on create. I don't use it because I keep images on my disks on a storage devive attached to the separate network.

    Hello

I suggest you to follow these steps and check if that helps:

    Method 1:
If you have installed a security software on the computer, then I suggest you try to disable temporary and check to see if the same problem happens. Make sure that you enable security software back once the diagnosis is made to prevent the computer from virus attacks.

    Method 2:
Try to perform the clean boot and check if it helps:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

NOTE: When you are finished troubleshooting, make sure that you reset the computer in start mode normal such as suggested in step 7 of the above article.

    Method 3:
Try the running System File Checker and see if it helps:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

    It will be useful.

I get exception c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll,control_rundll,"c:\windows\system32\sysbm.cpl",system what can I do?

This has happened for a very long time.

    Does really say '... sysdm.cpl "?"

Is that what the text complete and accurate of what the message said exactly?  (there is no sysbm.cpl in XP, but there's a sysdm.cpl).

What happens if you click on start, run and enter in the box:

    sysdm.cpl

Click OK - the system properties box opens?

What happens if you click on start, run and in the type box (exactly):

    %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Click OK - is the open window of the system restore?

What is exactly the process (step by step) you are using when you try to create the restore point and when in the process you see this message?

I think it's a miracle that the Microsoft support engineer can provide a link to an article when the error message report you is a little out of whack and articles doesn't mention your error message at all.  It's real good troubleshooting or clairvoyance!

You should also tell us a little about your system:

Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

Do you see that you think not you should see and when you see it?

  • Why my WinXP Media Center will not create a restore point?

For some reason, I just tried to create a Restore Point manually. I see that none have been created and stored in the past. I also see that it is turned on, because it is unchecked to enable the system restore on the system restore settings. So why, when I check create A Restore Point and click Next and write a description and click on create, make a box that says that system restore is not able to create a restore point? He also says if he please restart the computer and restart System Restore.

I tried and it does not at all. Just the same thing happen again.

Fixed! I decided to turn the system restore settings on the Restore page of the system (which will scan all the nonexistent restore points!) and then turn it back on. Now, he lets me create a Restore Point. I called him restore test, and now I see that on the list of the points of restoration as the only restore point. This list was empty before and no days were clouded on the calendar on this page.

Auditor of file system (CFS) scan to fix all of the corrupted system files. To do this, follow the steps in the following link:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2:

You can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists, see the link:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: See step 7; Reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting is performed.

    Method 3:

You can temporarily disable the security software and check if the problem occurs. Check out the following link to do the same thing:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you need more assistance.

  • Shadow Copy Provider cannot create system restore point error Ox8004230F?

When I try to create a system restore on my Vista operating system, you get the above error message.
I have entered what has been suggested in the forums and Services.
    What should I do now?
    Thanks for you help.

When researching other forums via Google, I found this in 'My Digital Life '.  It solved my problem so I post here to help people who may have tried all the "fix - its" that did not work!

"The error occurs because the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service is stopped or disabled. The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider Service manages shadow copies of volume based on software taken by the Volume Shadow Copy service. If this service is stopped, shadow copies of volume based on software cannot be managed. If this service is disabled, as when you manually disable the snapshot, all services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start. "

The Shadow Copy Provider MS and the shadow copy of Volume must be enabled.  With my problem I'm not far enough to allow the Shadow Copy Provider MS.  When I did, it has allowed me to create a restore point.

    Thank you.

Record of MUI with the same name. The computer seems to work very well, but my suspicions are triggered. Any suggestions?

    Hi Popo75,

Let us try the following steps to solve the problem.

    Step 1

Sometimes the malware could have disabled the files. Try to run an online scan and see if it helps.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistasecurity/thread/ba80504b-61f1-4D71-960f-b561798b7b42

If this does not help, try the next step.

    Step 2

Try to run the Design Checker (SFC.exe) system files and check if the problem persists.  To do this, follow these steps:

    1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    2. type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command. analysis of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

Check the link for more information:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212

    Step 3

If the problem persists, create a new user account and check if you still have the problem:

To create a new user profile:

To create a new profile, you must first create a new user account. When the account is created, a profile will also be created.

    1. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking on user accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking user accounts.

    2. click on manage another account.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. click on create a new account.

    4. type the name you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click on create an account.

Check out the link for more information on creating a new account below:
