Creating custom shaped front panel

I want to create a popup in personalized form (other than the rectangular shape). For this I created a green façade (0x00FF00) background color, placed the shape I want as a background image. Now the unnecessary part is in green. I then used a function of windows (USER32. DLL: SetLayeredWindowAttributs) to the green of the transparent color. It works for me, but the question here is that it takes time to become transparent. For a fraction of a second, the green color is visible to the user. Is there another way to be a part of the transparent window?

You will probably need to get it to keep the front screw closed/hidden until after he made the call to USER32.dll (and make that one of the first calls you make). It is probably your façade opening when the VI of loading display Input Panel began execution - or you might not be calling it right at the beginning of your VI so there is some delay.

Oh - affecting the hidden Panel should work - there is a difference between closed (no front panel) and hidden (open, but not visible) - properties that can be performed on narrow front panels work usually on hidden. If this still does not work - you could try to move the position of the window off the screen (p. ex.-5000,-5000), show it, apply the property and then bring it back.

  • Security of 2014 LabView front panel

    Hello.

I want to disable change a variable for some users. I create user... but do not have this option to FrontPanelSecurity.

Can you help me... where can I find this Panel on labview 2014?

  • VI front panel does not close when it is done executing, when this vi was called by reference.

I created a simple vi set to indicate the problem I'm having. I run dynamically under vi to leave a main application. Simply the main application is my test exec and the Subvi I call dynamically is different tests. In the example I have write here the criterion vi is called Test electric 1(vi). I configured this electric Test 1 vi to see the front when it is called and close later while initially closed.  Problem is that it doesn't close before.

Other things to keep in mind

    • I want to be able to run the vi test and do not wait until it is done.

    I'm using LabVIEW 2012 SP1.

Basically the fence after that call questions only if the VI is called as a Subvi (as if you open you a VI and run it, it does not close when it's done).  Are two ways to work around this or have your app high lvl close the VI when it's done, it's explained here:

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/987B2026B41BD39786256CF800032E8C

or having your VI close when it's done.  A reference of the VI and the front panel: Close call node.

    I hope this helps.

  • Security on the front panel does not work

    Hello

    I have a problem and a question:

Problem: I created some controls on the front panel and some groups which they are responsible. Administrators can see and do everything, the operator cannot see some of them. If I build exe it works on development PC but if I copy them to another PC, it does not. It does not show these elements of façade. Areas are the same, SCADA, only the names of PC are different. The two computers are not in the same network. I create local domains and users on two computers through domain account manager. What could be the problem?

Question: How can I create an access control list (ACL) and assign them to the elements of façade programmaticaly? What is the syntax? I have found no examples of code.

    Thank you.

I found the solution. Maybe someone also needs:

You must copy the folder C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\Shared\Domain development pc to other PC, in which you want to have the same field and same users. It does not have to generate the new domain with exactly the same name on another pc and generate new users. You must copy the whole directory of your pc to the other pc. It works now.

  • Reminders does not work in the executable LabVIEW front panel

I have a couple of reminders in the process template that trigger an event in the event structure to update of the lights on the front panel for the user. Everything works fine until I have create an executable file. This can also be an indication of the other points, I have not discovered yet.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for all the help.

    Found!

Not unlike most of LabVIEW developers, I have a range of utility screws that I use over and over again. Such vi is vi uses a property node to find out what environment the application is running in, i.e. .llb, exe, development, publishing student, etc.. This vi is used because SEO screws in an executable file have a way different than when their listing in the development environment. Using this vi allows your code to reference the screws properly when developing and when the executable is built. The code still works because it automatically adjusts the referenced path of the vi. See attachment 'Path Finder.vi environment'.

Now for the fun part! For some reason, perhaps because of the friendly character of NOR and the relationship it is with its developers :-), AND decided to change the path of the executables in LabVIEW 2009. After hours of troubleshooting and countless rebuilt, I came to the conclusion that the ' paths of the band of "work magically stopped working. It was at this time one of my friends happened to walk and ask why I had everything in my monitor across the room (figuratively speaking of course, I'm sure we've all been there). I explained what could be the only conclusion, band paths do not work!

My friend immediately began laughing, having recently had the same problem. He explained that in LabVIEW 2009 executable paths are different and our 'find the path vi' would not work. He added that NOR, after finding this funny, however gave the developers a way to solve this problem with a check box within the app Builder. The box is called "Layout using LabVIEW 8.x file." See attached photo named "App Builder."

The only thing I could say to my friend was, ' silly me, I should have know what that.»

    Laughing out loud

Thank you for trying to help, it launched my butt.

  • Update of Acquisition of tension over on front panel

I have this simple motor driver program that communicates with a stepper motor controller. I now have to combine this vi with person who acquires a finite number of data points of tension. I found an example of tension over who works with my daq (usb-6009). I was thinking about another stacked in a loop sequence for works to save the voltages, motor training, save several tensions, etc. a desired amount of time.

I wish I could see the tension on the front panel, because I'm their record. Is there a simple way to do this when requiring a finite number of tensions? I use finish because I need only say 10 seconds of data in each engine position and fixing the number of samples whose rate is a simple way to adjust the ignition.

The examples I've seen update tension using a while loop. If I do this then the while loop keeps going until the user stops it.

Thank you very much. 2 vi, I work with is attached.

BTW, I'm a graduate of mechanical engineering student.

    Hello

See this link on the waveform data type.

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/B965F316364DE17B862572DF00363B10

Writing custom file Express VI will be likely to work as a note for a long time the sample and, therefore, the loop rate is not too high.  It's because the writing on a file of measures, although practical, contains a bit of overhead.  If you want to display multiple channels, you can merge the signals and display them on a single diagram, or use several.  It will be you.

The best indicator to use will depend on what data you want to display.  The waveform table is going to be the most complete, but as you have found the samples back in the form of an array of double type, you can indicators table, or remove points on the table and use digital indicators as well.

  • Requirements Gateway - objects on the front panel

    Hello

I'm about to start using the gateway requirements and I have a few questions to help me go...

    1. If I create a vi on a machine without RG installed and then move it to a machine with the Receiver General installed, will be always recognized tags?

2 - RG recognize the syntax [covers XX] if it's on a façade and not the block diagram?

    Thanks for your help.

    Darren.

    I know a little RG.

    1. Yes.

2 RG will scan the three areas of a VI for references: VI Description, control/indicator Description and diagram commentary (free labels). That's why he won't see a reference on the front panel (for example data text or text of the label or a caption).

  • The front panel indicator background color manually

Hi I'm trying to color of the lights on the front panel depending on whether a test was successful or not. I created a Subvi to do the job, but I can't choose the right to the property to be set depending on what type of indicator is in color (ie. digital or string) then I used a case statement and try to detect what type of reference is passed in so I can set the right to property. I used a number of existing posts about it to this day.

I seem to be unable to determine the type of reference correctly, I get errors about not being able to cast to the specified type, trying a color string indicator.

I tried to add a screencapture but the system hung while I attached the VI, any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thank you

When you compare references, the result tells you whether or not they refer to the same object, it does not tell you if they are of the same type.

  • Copy-paste an object of front panel to the same xy location

    Hello

Just a practical question, but I would need very often this kind of functionality:

How can I copy - paste an object of front panel to the same location? Lets consider the I have a TAB container, and on the first page, I have a chart. I would like to make a graph even on the second page tab, but at the same XY location compared to the TAB container.

  • Remote front panel in Tablet

    Hi all

I am trying to establish a remote connection of frontage on a windows 8 OS 32 bit on 64 bit Tablet atom processor since an exe file deployed to myRIO. I had checked the remote façade on the development of PC connectivity (windows 8 OS 64-bit processor i7), installed the LV RT 2013 engine and the 32-bit drivers on the tablet. The problem is the remote connection of façade hangs after some time. I connect the target to a type B USB which is connected to an OTG cable and then to tablet microUSB port.

    1. I reduced the data rate to about 200 samples per second (20 display values on a chart by 0.1 seconds), the problem still persists

    2. the remote panel works pretty well when it is connected to the development PC and another PC (windows 8, OS 64-bit with LV RT 2013 installed) via USB, it's just the tablet that loses connection after some time (it says connection refused by the server control panel)

    3. I have connected the target to an active local network the WiFi on the shelf and got the remote control works perfectly. It is just the physical USB connection to the tablet with an OTG cable that creates the problem after a while

I came to the conclusion that the problem could be with the 32-bit drivers (the screen gets stuck after some time however), OTG cable (I tried another one) or that the Tablet is running on 32 bit OS. I even installed LV 2013 on the Tablet, developed a test exe and tried remote front panel, still the same problem persists. All entries for what could be the problem?

    Thank you

  • Functional global variable home (RFGV) is cut off by the controls on the front panel

    Hello

I though that I had found the ultimate way to dynamically manage memory in a system of Exchange. I read on RFGV here: http://labviewwiki.org/Functional_global_variable and put together a static FGV normal to follow the references for each created instance of memory which I then could easily remember just by name. But now I found that all the RFGV completely stops whenever a front panel with a menu control is used, i.e. 'enum', 'ring' or 'control path. I tried to put in different delivery systems, but not luck. I read about that guy who could have fallen into the same problem: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Do-I-need-to-use-a-semaphore-when-reading-writing-a-functional/m-p/1... but he got no help what I could see.

I have not tried semaphores. Don't know what that is. Check my little test code and tell me what I am doing wrong. Or maybe there is no solution in this case I have to abandon the idea of the use of RFGV for anything. Maybe memory held all the VI will be assigned statically.

Run the code (in LV2009) and watch the 6 LEDS Flash. Then click on anyone of 'enum', 'ring' or 'path' (the file dialog box) and watch off LED when dynamic memory is used to write or read while the continoues to static VI.

    Any suggestions?

    Best regards

    Kai

If the memories are good, what you're running against is not the user interface thread, but an internal mechanism of LV called the loop of the root, which must run in some things. Specifically, in your case, the method run a VI and showing a menu (a menu real, or a context menu of a ring).

You can work around this problem (and greatly simplify your code) If you use the call node of the reference instead of the method to execute a VI, but I wouldn't recommend it anyway, since I assume that your code is not what you think it does. In LV memory management can be quite complex if you want to be able to control it, so if you feel you really need, I suggest to start by searching for existing materials on the management of memory in LV

  • How to add the hyperlink on front panel

    Hello

I want to add hyperlinks on my front. After clicking on who can access run another VI of disc or simply give me the functionality of a booleon control.

I don't want to use the button for this.

I want these hyperlinks for my standalone application main menu items.

Have you tried a search? This has been asked before, and the proposed solutions were provided. See, for example

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/do-you-know-how-to-create-front-panel-like-Web/m-p/1289778

I think there may have been an idea posted in the Exchange of LabVIEW ideas as well. If this is not the case, do not hesitate to submit a suggestion so it can be voted on.

  • Programmatically disable the controls on the front panel

    Hi all

I have a case in which I need to activate the control of front panel during scanning or taking data and when this case is false / when not not taking data. I try to make the Subvi usng vi reference, the node property, making the label controls and disbaling it. I want to disable the control listed in the table during the real deal and allow them to return to the case of fake. But right now, it of not working and hangs my main program. Please see the vi attached and help find where I am doing wrong.

    Thank you

The best way would be to create an array of references to the controls you want to mess with beforehand.  I say that because I'm guessing that you have several groups of controls you will be turn on/off at the same time.  If you have a table of these controls already created, then just run the table in a loop FOR and use the Disable property.  I made a few minor cleanups in your current VI.  I got rid of the outermost case structure since the two cases are essentially the same thing.  A selection function allows to choose to enable or disable.

NOTE: the forums are screwing again and not let me post a VI.  Change the extension back to vi to open it in LabVIEW.

  • Dragging Variables shared on front panel

    Hi all

IM usin the Labview DSC module for a GI Bill is currently working on. I created my shared variables and am now trying to create my VI to display the data on a façade. The problem I have is when I select my shared variables and try slide them on my Panel until the front panel keeps minimizing. I hope this isn't a stupid question but no idea how to solve. I have attached a screenshot to illustrate my problem

In general, before you try to select the variable shared and drag, please make sure that VI front window and the project window are not riding...
