Creation of Oracle ASM agent - collections allow the BONE?

If an agent has already been created for a given instance of Oracle and an agent has already been created for the host operating system that the Oracle instance is installed on, then creating a 3rd agent to monitor Oracle ASM on the same host, you are given the option of 'collections Enable OS' on the host operating system platform.

It is not clear to me that the impact is to select Yes or no here, given that I've already created other officers. Does anyone have any idea on this?

Thank you.

It seems that in your case the operating system is already be montiored so you don't need to create the home screen again. If you enable it, it will create another agent of the OS.

  • Make Oracle ASM is supported via the Protocol of the TCPS?

    Hello

Make Oracle ASM is supported via the Protocol of the TCPS? The connectivity of the ASM is supported via SSL connection? I'm not able to get documents appropriate for this setting. Could you help me find the configuration related to this?

    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards
    Mukesh

    Bjoern Rost says:
I have no idea what TCPS is supposed to be, and I don't know why you would want to use SSL when connecting to an instance of the DSO. ASM communication takes place between an instance of Oracle (database) and an instance of the ASM on the same host, and I simply don't understand why you would want to encrypt it.

    Agree with that.

The ASM and the database are always on the same host. They communicate with each other directly through a CRS daemon.
It is NOT possible to have the ASM remotely on another server. Discussions about protocols is therefore not useful

  • Resize the space Oracle ASM

    Hello

My use of oracle ASM database, I use the storage of DATA (data files and Archives...). my storage autour to be complete, so I want to add the new storage space (new hard disks).

So my question... on the side DBA is, something needs to be done? new hard drive then added to the disk group as fdisk? or the space will automatically be added to the total space?

My storage admin told me that it can re-size space on its side without doing anything on my side as a DBA, a problem this way? again is the same as for an old hard drive.

    Please advice,

    Kind regards
    Awad Awad

    There are two options.

    1. your store admin can expand a LUN, and then you can resize the ASM drive in the extra space.
    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e18951/asmdiskgrps.htm#sthref282

    2. your store admin can give you another logic unit number. When you add this logic unit number to a diskgroup, ASM will automatically use and therefore to increase the size of the diskgroup.

My preference is #2. It of less work and less risk.

  • Oracle ASM rebalancing Exchange rowid?

    Hi all.

The BP is 11.2.0.3 on a linux machine.

I use ASM for storage management.

When oracle ASM rebalancing occurs, change the rowid of lines?
In my production environment, some modules of the application depend on lines rowid.

    Have a wonderful day.
    Best regards.

    Hello

When oracle ASM rebalancing occurs, change the rowid of lines?

No, the load balancing is Zaribat by moving data files extensions IE (synonymous with the BONE blocks) of ASM units of other volumns physical allocation within the same diskgroup to make the data spread across all volumes in a balanced way. It has nothing to do with the ROWID and you shouldn't worry about this.

  • Quality element derived from Master Collection Oracle based on Plans for the child?

As an Oracle, we have a collection Plan and a Plan for the Collection. The child Map Collection contains many instances sample were out.

Let's Say there were 5 samples for a number of batch (batch number as the Parent in Master Plan of collection). An element of the Collection take for example. Size. a observation of the sample.

    # Sample size.
    1 16
    2 16
    3 16
    4 32
    5 40

So based on the example of the child, we would like to put the size of the collection in the level item Parent's maximum allowed size of all samples of the child.

which in this case than the 16.

Quality > configurations > relationships define/update the Parent child Plan

    Define a relationship that makes parentplan.samplesize = max (childplan.samplesize)

    Hi all

    -SR: 2195132

    -Customer: Table Services

    -Environment:

Foglight for virtualization 6.8 (V5.6.7 Foglight)

    V5.6.7 VMWare cartridge

    V5.6.7 Infrastructure cartridge

    Problem/Question:

Agent VMWarePerformance collected by the CPU of each processor usage?

I checked the following for 3 VM location, and I found the following metrics collected for each processor:

    Hosts | All hosts. | Processors | Porcessors | | In detail

    Hour system percentage

    Used Hz

My client was originally IC agents set up to monitor some of its VM guests who were also controlled by the VMwarePerformance officer. This caused churn so I asked him to turn off the discs of CPU, memory and network of collections of IC officers. After he disabled the collections he concluded that processors CPU Utilization was no longer available. It is a measure he needs. If this is not available from the agent of VMWarePerformance then add us hosts to the blacklist of the user and re - activate the CPU, disk, memory and network of collections of IC officers.

    Thank you

    Karen Smithwa

Use as a percentage is not captured.  Enter us Hz used and we could derived that UC via derived metric.

  • ESXi actually allow the creation of a guest?

I have been using products vmware server for a while. I decided to try esxi.

apparently I'm not holding my mouth properly because is will not allow me to boot from the server CD-ROM (as well as all other virtualization products that I have tried) to install a platform for comments.  and before you ask, the CD is good and will start in other machines of vintages and different powers. is the path of this vmware to force an ala microsoft upgrade to their more expensive platform?

I lost two days on this issue... searched the web... There are others with the same questions and the "vmware knowledge base' (Yes, right) is absolutely no help - in fact in the post only I could find on the subject, the Director of forum asked if anyone had an answer last week...

so if there is someone who can keep me from having to install MS hypervisor to allow the creation of a virtual environment using ESXi, I'd be for always in your debt.

Help, please!  I don't have a lot of hair left...

    Oh yes - it's a one year dell poweredge 1900 - 4 cores - 4 GB - 3 to hard drive...

Isn't annoying when a product is simply too powerful for you to follow up on things like a change in the BIOS...

Glad to hear that you solved it!

As you mention oracle suggests using different user for grid, asm, etc. Thatsgood path if you have only 1 db. But for me its coz not usable, I have to manage more than 300 db if it is difficult to give the user DIF. for each facility, it makes my job more complex. I hope I can show you my index

  • Oracle ASM configuration

I think I have I need help to get my right to ASM storage. Recently I changed businesses and the new place is a House of Windows, so Oracle databases are all on 2008 R2 machines. I run Oracle RAC on both physical and virtual before, but only in Linux/Unix environments (up to now, I still prefer) so I'm still learning some of the ins and outs. This company seeks also to travel to the RAC, ASM is in the mix. To start my tests, I have implemented an ASM instance for a single host that will eventually become a pole of development taking into multiple databases. However, before I set up data bases, the host is locked up. I think it has something to do with the configuration of the disk, because while the entrapment took place while the virtual machine is idling, several crashes occurred when I try to remove a drive within the ASM. I followed the Oracle documentation for Windows platforms, but this documentation does not offer overview of storage virtualization.

    Here is my configuration:

    VMware: vSphere 5.5

    OS: Windows 2008 R2 Standard

    Memory: 12G

    Storage (SCSI LSI): OS: 60G; ASM: 20G, 5G, 5G

Oracle Grid: 11.2.0.4 (more January 2014 CPU)

Oracle database: 11.2.0.4 (more January 2014 CPU)

Other details (perhaps important, perhaps not):

    (1) I have a large pages activated

    (2) drives are supplied thin. Note, I always thick-stocked my ASM, but our admin SR records. HE made a policy that all disks must be supplied thin for efficiency. I don't know if this could cause a problem.

    (3) I work for have the 3 ASM (20 G, 5 G, 5 G) discs set up on different SCSI controllers paravirtualized (another admin IT - SCSI LSI default policy) because they will be used for the DB, the JOURNAL and FRA respectively.

    (4) the host also has an OEM 12 c Agent installed and running.

I'm new on the Windows platform when it comes to Oracle (I managed a lot of SQL Server DBs), blocks do not appear to produce any type of data in the logs.

Found the problem. It's the AV software Nothing to do with vmware, it turns out that).

  • jdev11 selection tab and allow the customization of the user on the bug of the Session.

If you enabled customization by the user for the duration of the session, then what ever user edits a page remains the same through the session.
That is to say. Boxes of Panel, advanced the query criteria, the visible columns in tables in the collections Panel etc. revealed.

The problem is that you can't customize the properties to be kept or not:
++ Developer fusion for Oracle ADF & 34.3 user customizations Configuration guide: ++
++ Note +: If you have activated just the session persistence, then all attributes of the values given in table 34-1 will be persisted in the session. +
It there is no way to substitute it either globally, or on an instance.
The biggest problem is that if you have a business logic on these components appearance or behavior you cannot override user settings.

    Is this a bug?
Shouldn't logical business methods replace the user personalization settings?

Customization of the user for the duration of the session will be configurable?

    Details: [http://adfbugs.blogspot.com/2009/09/tab-selection-and-enable-user.html]

    Hello

    Is this a bug?

Don't think. I guess your business logic depends on the disclosure statement, which is usually reset after each navigation works to a page. Using persistence of change you explicitly allow the user to keep the changes. If your business logic cannot rely on a State has changed.

The enhancement request proposed to prevent changes of the perisisting its just components. I'll drop a.

But it is not that you cannot override the persistent information for a component. You can use the ChangeManager API that is exposed on the ADFFacesContext to substitute information persistence

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E15051_01/apirefs.1111/e10684/Oracle/ADF/view/rich/change/changemanager.html

For example, with a change of disclosure event:

      boolean isDisclosed = < whatever you like to set >;
//Record a Change for 'disclosed' attribute
      AttributeComponentChange aa =
      new AttributeComponentChange('disclosed', isDisclosed ? Boolean.TRUE : Boolean.FALSE);
      AdfFacesContext adfContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
//set disclosed state to component. Here you override the user choice
      adfContext.getChangeManager().addComponentChange(getFacesContext(), event.getSource(), aa);

  • 4730 proBook s: what version of the BIOS allows the activation of virtualization technologies?

I use Oracle VirtualBox with 7 VM Linux on my ProBook 4730 of s (OS is Windows 7 64 bit). Somewhere around the BIOS update F.20 my machines virtual Linux no longer works, because of virtualization technology has not been enabled in the BIOS. I tried to enable it in the BIOS settings, but he refused to be activated. So I followed the instructions to return to the correct known copy last BIOS on the recovery partition, and yet I could not enable Virtualization Technology in the older BIOS revision.

Then I went the drivers and software from the HP Web site section for my ProBook and downloaded the revision of BIOS Feb 2011 (apparently the earliest possible review of BIOS for my laptop model) and then flashed my BIOS with this revision. And virtualization technology setting STILL refused to activate it.

I've seen in this thread in HP forums:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/HP-ProBook-4730s-BIOS-cannot-enable-virt...

anyone else with the model of my laptop had the same problem and the same symptoms: VMs worked up to a point in time and at that time there the Virt. Technology implementation option in the BIOS could not be reactivated.

    So my two questions are:

Any available for this model of laptop BIOS revision allows the activation of the option of setting of virtualization technology?

    and,

In the event of a revision, which one is it and can provide you a link where I can find a downloadable copy of it?

    LTW

OK, after you call the tech support of HP, I found the answer to my version of this problem. When I tried to activate the virtualization technology in the BIOS, I was logging in BIOS using my account in the BIOS. At least for me (and probably for others too, since it is advice from HP support gave me) it was bad. You must log in with the account Guest User of the BIOS BIOS, and when you do, a lot of parameters of the BIOS, including virtualization technology, can be turned on/off. So my problem is solved.

  • Serving AVDF 12.1.2 integrated with the package DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT allowing the automation of audit records

I have a question about this part of the vault of the audit and the Guide Release 12.1.2 database firewall administrator documentation:

    -Start quote-

Schedule for a job of automatic Purge

Oracle AVDF is integrated with the DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT package on an Oracle database. This integration automates the purge of the AUD $ audit records and files of $ FGA_LOG and operating system .aud and .xml files after that that they have been properly applied in the repository of Audit Vault Server.

Once the complete purge, officer of Vault automatically sets a timestamp on the audit data that has been collected. Therefore, you must set the property USE_LAST_ARCH_TIMESTAMP set to true to ensure that the right set of audit records are purged. You don't need to manually set a work of purge interval.

    -Extract-

According to the documentation above, how AVDF brings integration resulting in automation?

    Hello

When you configure an audit trail in the AV server, say a table AUD$ path, once it collects the audit data he attributes automatically the last time stamp archive on the secure target database (you can check it out of view DBA_AUDIT_MGMT_LAST_ARCH_TS).

However, the trail (or the AV itself server) does not purge that verification data already collected.

You have to clean these data with the DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT. Procedure CLEAN_AUDIT_TRAIL, example for AUD$ table only:

    BEGIN

    DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT. () CLEAN_AUDIT_TRAIL

    audit_trail_type-online DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT. AUDIT_TRAIL_AUD_STD,

    use_last_arch_timestamp => TRUE);

    END;

    /

You can simply run this procedure via a job depending on how often you want to cleanup audit and what time recordings. You don't need to worry about the timestamp of last archive.

    Kind regards

    Shiva

    Hey Shiva,

you are probably using the OS cartridge inherited on x86_64, RHEL or CentOS 6.3 or earlier.

You must install both 32-bit libraries to do the data collection:

    • -glibc.i686
    • -nss - softokn.i686

    Why is this?

By dΘfaut x86_64 installation does not seem to install libraries 32 bits, which prevents OSCart commissioning agents.

Fortunately, OSCart agents are largely independent, and only the C 32-bit kernel libraries (and their dependencies) must be installed in order to get the agents running. Needed to support packages are available on the RedHat 6 32-bit installation DVD in the directory {{packages}}.
