Creation of pdf with hyperlinks for mobile devices

Hello.  I am trying to create a catalog that is completely interactive on a mobile device. I have a few sellers who have the iPad and some of those who have the Motorola Xoom.  I am trying to create a document with hyperlinks that will have the user to the specified pages in the catalog.  For some reason when I create hyperlinks, they are working on a normal computer, but they do not work on a mobile device with a touch screen.  Can someone tell me please how to create hypertext links are some pages in the same document that will work on a mobile device like an iPad or a Xoom.

Welcome to the cutting edge. The iPad and the Xoom are new devices, and it will take a few tries to find out what PDF readers will accomplish what you want.

If you create a PDF interactive as you would for a computer, so the works of interactivity is based on the PDF reader. On an iPad, you have several choices. Among them: Adobe Reader (recently released), GoodReader, Expert PDF and iBooks.

I created a simple interactive PDF with hyperlinks to take me to a given page, and I did a button that comes to the first page. Here's what I found with the current versions of these readers on an iPad:

* Adobe Reader does not yet support interactivity. The hypertext links, or the work button

* GoodReader works best. Hyperlinks were working and the button

* PDF Expert was the second best. The hyperlinks worked and the button worked (but he lost the text on the button that says "Start over")

* iBooks was better third. Hypertext links worked, but it does not support buttons.

I have absolutely no interest to get a Motorola Xoom because he is such a loser of a Tablet, and I have no idea of what runs on it. You have to do your own tests.

I was a big fan of highly customized PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 and X era.  Now, I'm trying to get plain-vanilia Acrobat DC PDF Portfolios to work in mobile devices, including Android.  It seems futile.

PDF portfolios don't will NOT be open and display in any popular mobile browser?

Or is there a way to make that happen?  (I tried 'share links' of Google Drive, OneDrive and DropBox, but rather than consider the PDF Portfolio, it appears a message saying the visitor to download the PDF file to view it on their device.)

PDF portfolios will be only open and view in Acrobat Reader for Android?

I am tired of several popular applications for Android PDF Viewer.  None of them could open a PDF portfolio.  Or am I missing something?

I think I'm spinning my wheels on trying to use this technology once and large (on the desktop for the distribution) and the display on Android devices.  Am I wrong?

Thank you for your attention and your time.

The description of what makes a PDF portfolio work in a PDF are public and have been for many years. But as far as I know, none of the authors of software has nothing with this info, so portfolio view only happens in Adobe software. Unfortunately, it is up to the authors of all what other software. Now, it is not surprising that portfolios have been ignored for years, because for years the portfolios only we did used Flash. Times change, but it may be too late for the portfolios.

  • Publications for mobile devices

Asked me today to create our publications (we produce a very short weekly publication and at least a handful of older publications each month) research so that they are more easily accessible by mobile devices, including the iPad. A quick Google search convinced me that, as someone who does not have a mobile device, I have no idea where to start to do this research. I was hoping that some people here, who have actually accessed / attempt to access a PDF file from a mobile device and could point me in a good general direction.

What I do currently is to create publications (kind of a magazine/newsletter format) in InDesign, and then export them to PDF. I will send a broadcast (although very targeted) E-mail to warn people of the publication and provide a link. The weekly publication is a simple link to the PDF file and others are links to our store where members can download PDF files after connecting and non-members can buy them.

Publications are quite simple and straightforward. Some are strictly text (although each has a cover page with graphics) and most have graphics. The closest we come to interactivity (so far, anyway) is to provide a hypertext link to a referenced source.

Anyone know where I can find information on the challenges of the first time purchaser and / or viewing PDF documents on mobile devices? All I seem to be able to find companies that offer software or applications for users of mobile devices to read in PDF format, not something to do these PDF files more 'mobile friendly' and the only thing that can happen to my imagination is that they might prefer being able to rotate the file PDF 180 degrees.

  • Web Design for mobile devices

This has probably been asked a thousand times, but can anyone offer some advice on the design of web sites for mobile devices? I just bought an iPad 2, as well as my smart phone, then I discovered that Creative Suite 5.5 focuses largely on mobile devices. (I still use CS3 and will probably not be able to upgrade until next year; "I have to buy a new laptop first).

In any case, a question I have regarding the domain extensions. Is there a big advantage to get a Web site with the .mobi extension, or most of the people just change their Web pages so that they appear correctly on all workstations for mobile devices?

Also, can someone point me to a good tutorial or resource that deals with the design of web sites for mobile devices?

Finally, can someone tell me why I can not post on this forum with my iPad? I was able to type in a title, but I couldn't write anything in the message area.

    Thank you.

    Hello

In any case, a question I have regarding the domain extensions. Is there a big advantage to get a Web site with the .mobi extension, or most of the people just change their Web pages so that they appear correctly on all workstations for mobile devices?

For smartphone/tablet, there is no advantage in having a website for .mobi for the average web site owner, (corporate sites are however another reality entirely) and it is now a more common practice to use media queries to a specific provision of the device.

Also, can someone point me to a good tutorial or resource that deals with the design of web sites for mobile devices?

    Try http://www.alistapart.com/topics/mobile/.

Finally, can someone tell me why I can not post on this forum with my iPad? I was able to type in a title, but I couldn't write anything in the message area.

Sorry, but not not not an iPad to test the problem I can't help with this one. Maybe someone else can do!

  • LMS with UM for 5000 devices

    Hello

We will install an LMS with UM for 5000 devices. We can see in the hardware requirements doc that "UM and CS must be installed on a stand-alone server, which manages 1000 devices.

    My questions are:

    1 and 4000 other devices?

    2. is it mandatory to install CS and HUM in a separate server?

3 - What are the hardware requirements for this server with UM and CS?

4 - is possible to configure the CiscoWorks LMS master and the server with UM and CS as slave?

    Thank you very much.

UM can't stand up to 1000 devices. See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_health_and_utilization_monitor/1.2/Install/guide/HUMprqst.html#wp1058394 for the hardware and software configuration.

  • How to format for mobile devices

    Hello world:

I just managed to download my only and probably only site.  I built it in DW CS5.5.  I have worked to learn the basics of HTML and CSS, but still have a huge learning curve.  I watched videos and you read all that in adobe help to understand how to format for mobile devices and tablets, but I'm missing a step somewhere.

Can someone please take a look and advise me?  What I have to do a reconstruction complete or can I use the same CSS/HTML I currently have?  Please direct me to the steps to fix, build, or something else

What you need to do exactly?

The site makes it very well on my iPhone, it looks like the desktop version (that I prefer by far to be forced to a single iPhone site).

  • How to create a menu burger for mobile devices with submenus?

    Hello

I don't understand why Muse have still a self building mobile menu as it does for Desktop - Web sites. All other tools like RapidWeaver done!

So I have to build my own burger menu manually. The problem is: How can I build with the submenus? Levels got more complex Web site and it would be much better, if the user can access directly through each of them on a mobile device in a burger menu.

    Can anyone help?

I don't see what you want potential problems.

Not 100% what you want, but the simple option is to nest panels in accordion inside each other. I spent 10 minutes during lunch at one place scheme (the burger is bad image and size of items is all wrong, but you can play with it (and change from pretty bad looking for something OK/good)).

    Mock up quick hamburger

If you really want a slide from the right as in the example you have pointed out, you need to insert some html/css:

-build the submenu just next to the page and the group. Listen to samples and inspect the element chromium to find the UID of the group. The click of the menu item, call the submenu UID and move the element on the page. Include the ease settings to soften the transition.

Can go more in detail if you wish.

Good luck and sorry is not the prettiest workaround. Maybe build widget a day.

  • PDF for mobile devices

How can I make my fillable pdf Adobe Acrobat X file accessible by mobile devices? Including the ability to send.

By a large number of research and testing using devices and different applications. The ability to process a form on a mobile device varies so much because not all mobile devices and applications do not support the form fields in the PDF file.

And if the form fields are supported, then all the code JavaScript that can be used on a form using a computer will work on the mobile device.

  • How do I reactive PDFs and work on mobile devices

HI - here is the website that I am currently to convert to a responsive design:

    http://www.darrp.NOAA.gov/Northeast/Hudson/admin.html

As you see above is not admissible, you will notice a long list of PDF documents that will also have to be routed via on the new sensitive site, and these documents need to open on mobile devices.  On my Android Galaxy phone and using the browser of the phone by default (without Chrome for mobile or something like that) when I click on a link to a PDF file in the page above, Android will download the PDF file for the phone and then open in a Kindle reader (which happens to have installed some time on the phone).

Of course, this won't work for the new website - files PDF will open in a certain type of player as they do on a desktop browser.

If anyone has any ideas on what I need to do to make this work?  Something in Dreamweaver? A kind of third party or I can add the code that will open the PDF file and be legible on phones and tablets?  PS - I realize that the UX is not great, since many PDF files are scans of old documents with small characters and so on.  The key is to get just that working on the new site.

Any help is appreciated.  Thank you - Guy deaf

  • Slide show image for mobile devices

    Hello world

I'm doing my mobile site a little more user-friendly. On my current home page, I have a flash slideshow of images jpg image.

Current page - photography of birds - Glenn Bartley Nature photography workshops

I hope someone can help me with this move to a certain type of image slideshow that would work on mobile. Basically, I want to just images to scroll through all the seconds at random. Maybe 20 photos.

Previously, I had a small banner ad of my main website that works on mobile. But when I tried to copy that code above doesn't seem to work. Perhaps because he was in a table?

See banner advertising - Glenn Bartley Nature photography workshops - photography of birds, Nature, photography,.

If someone has a simple code I can insert my workshops page to rotate the images through mobile devices I would really appreciate the help.

    Thank you very much!

Mobile users might appreciate not all that consumption of bandwidth.  I often give my cell phone static image a users to look for not eating their limited data plans.

On the other hand, most Tablet users have Wifi, so the bandwidth consumption is not as big a consideration for them.  However, 20 images is excessive.  5 or 6 means a better.
