CSA and user of Desktop Lockdown

Someone uses CSA for desktop lockdown or's - this too heavy for this task and 3rd party products are used with it? I want just a few critical locking user skills: restrict access to control panel, restricting USB, check network settings to limit wireless, etc.

We have almost 3500 desktop computers and laptops with the CSA. They have the standard strategies and make us exceptions for 3rd party products that generate alerts.

He can do as little or as much as you want that it based on your needs and your willingness to fine tune.

You can complete, CSA with something as stable state of Windows for a more secure desktop.

I have this running on the kiosks of access by the Public and by the CSA and it works great to lock the operating system and the user environment.

  • Save the file on the user's desktop

Hi all, just a simple question (I hope!)

I am writing a program and I want to save the file .txt output to the office. Of couse, different computers will have on their desktop to different directory paths (for example C:/Documents and Settings/Bob/Desktop - the user name will be different in all cases).

Is there a specific command that you can use to specify what system you are looking for the office, regardless of the rest of the path of the directory? If it makes no sense at all.

    Thank you!

    Hi Goldie,

    1. not the problem only occurs when you save the file in Firefox?
    2. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

I suggest you try to save the file using Internet Explorer on the desktop and see if it works.

If the problem is with the shortcut of Firefox, then I suggest you to post.

  • Error "CD C:/users/Jamie/Desktop/virtual/Virtual CD Manager.exe Manager is not a valid Win32 application".

Original title: MSG of ERROR for windows.exe, Vista 32-bit operating system

MSG reads as FOLLOWS: "C: / users/Jamie/Desktop/Virtual CD Manager/Virtual CD Manager.exe is not a valid Win32 application"... What that means?

    Hello jesholder,

If you try to run a program that is not designed for your version of Windows, you can get this error. Although many old programs designed to work in older versions of Windows will work with new versions of Windows, unfortunately, not all programs will not work.

    • If the program is an MS-DOS program more former start program or Windows, you can get this error.

    • If the program is designed for a 64-bit version of Windows and you are running in a 32-bit version of Windows, it will not work and generate this error.

I wasn't able to check through the Windows Vista Compatibility Center if Virtual CD Manager is compatible with Windows Vista or not.
You will need to check with your software vendor to see if it is compatible, or if there is a updated version that will work with Windows Vista.

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

    Use the following steps:

    (1) right click on the program

    2) click Properties

    3) click on the Compatibility tab

    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows XP or other system that the program has been run successfully operating.

    I hope this helps.

  • Installation: An error occurred while attempting to create the directory C:\Users\Public\Desktop

When I try to install the software for my HP Officejet Pro 8500 has more, I get a read error "an error has occurred" while trying to create the directory C:\Users\Public\Desktop

First I thought it was a permissions issue, even if I am registered as an administrator.  I've even passed the Public folder and gave myself all permissions.  Then I see that the 'Office' folder is already there, so I don't understand why she is trying to create the directory.  Don't know where to go next.

Problem solved!  Changed name of folder of the Office of "Public Desktop" to "Desktop".  A given SYSTEM and everybody full permissions to the folder.  One of these changes have made a difference.  Subsequently renamed "Desktop" back to "Public Desktop", just in case.

  • Whenever I update "send/receive" a message asking me to write the network password and user name.

I am connected to wifi in the hotel (Orange) and I can't SEND email, I just have to receive them.

Whenever I update "send/receive" a message asking me to write the network password and user name. This from my mail server (not orange because that one is ok I have access to the internet).

Most of the suppliers do not let you send if you are not connected through them, or they have special settings.  So for now, see if you can access your e-mail via webmail and use this interface and in the future, contact your ISP and ask them if there is a way to send emails when you are connected through a different network.

  • I just installed a new router and now my desktop running Windows XP computer does not connect to the internet.

    Hello

I just installed a new router and now my desktop running xp computer does not connect to the internet. I know that it is not the router because I plugged the cable into my laptop running 7 and it works fine. When I try to dhcp I get 169..., when I put manually the IP just get no access to the internet and can not ping to the router address. I tried to run the net work Assistant, emptied my dns, disabled all firewals, still nothing.
    Any suggestions?
    original title: connectivity Limeted

The zero configuration utility works very well. But it is a desktop computer and on cable. All other wired and wireless PC in the office is working well, then it's definitely this PC. He came out of nowhere, I install a network printer on the PC but that's all.

Your messages are a bit terse, but if I understand correctly

    • You have a router connected to the Internet and multiple computers connected to the router, some Ethernet cable and others by wireless.
    • All but one of these computers can reach successfully from the Internet via the router.
    • A computer that can't browse the Internet is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
    • You disconnected the cable between the router and the desktop problem and connected it to a Windows 7 laptop and the laptop connected to the Internet via the router.
    • You haven't seen any error message (except, perhaps, a message on "Limited or no connectivity").
    • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or at least Service Pack 2)

Assuming that all the foregoing is an accurate summary of the situation, I suggest that you do the following:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines and press ENTER after each line

    Netsh reset winsock catalog
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.
